random updates

life has been, and continues to be hectic lately and I feel somewhat bad that I'm not posting on here very frequently. debating the idea of putting a queue together just because?

Also since finishing and posting chapter 4 of Joel x therapist! reader, I've been feeling very unmotivated to write in general. I know it shouldn't make me feel crappy and get me down but it does. I'm not a writer by any means and I don't give a shit about the number of notes or engagement that my writing gets, but it just feels like it takes a lot of dedicated energy to sit down and get the words out. Once the words are flowing though? no problem at all lol.

I have started working on a Frankie fic that has been rotting inside my brain for the past 3 weeks, and I'm excited about that. But again, sitting down to actually get some writing done is a challenge UGH. I feel like I have no right to complain cause I'm not working right now and I don't have lots of other stuff going on.

Amongst other life stuff, my mom has made it past her second round of chemo treatment and her third is coming up in the beginning of july. It's been really rough on her but she's taking it one day at a time and I'm trying to support her while also taking care of myself.

I did an interview for the student placement I'll be doing during my grad school program starting in September. It will be at a private therapy practice located at a farm that does equine assisted therapy which is so exciting 🙌🏽. I'll be taking on a small caseload of clients, shadowing psychologists and other mental health professionals and running equine therapy sessions while I'm there! It honestly seems too good to be true, I can't wait to start school at this point.

I also got a tattoo! My first tattoo, and I fucking love it. I'll post a picture here or maybe do a separate post for it. It's still healing but I'm so glad I got it.

I wondered what people might think if I was open to taking writing requests for drabbles or oneshots for Pedro characters? I want to write more for other beloved Pedro boys and I feel like it might be easier to get my creative juices flowing if I have a direct prompt to work with. Let me know.

And as always thank you to my fucking amazing mutuals who keep me sane on this site, I'm sorry if I don't respond to messages or disappear from time to time. I love you all more than you know, and I thank you for engaging with me at all ❤️

finally finished himym!! hated the finale (of course) so here's another "most likely to" but much longer to help me cope (negate, why lie to you) with how the most awesome couple ended

barney doesn't know how to drive and is generally better with technology, so robin drives and he gives directions and prevents her fights with the gps to get really violent

also robin is a REALLY violent driver, she doesn't go really fast but if anyone has the audacity to get in her way shes going to definitely roast the fuck out of them

it's surprising, cause he's always been someone who likes his space but there's times, mostly in private, when he just can't keep his hands to himself. and you would think it's purely sexual but no, in the contrary, most times it's just a hand in her hair or her back, or demanding hugs and cuddles

trick question! barney is who carries robin to bed, but she falls asleep in his shoulder

and he is the one who falls asleep in robin's lap, with her running her hands through his hair

neither of them is a morning person, but usually robin works out in mornings so her. on weekends they stay in bed as long as they can

they're both stubborn as hell so they schedule apologizes and take turns on doing it

both of them, in different aspects. like robin likes math to the point of doing problems and equations for fun ??? and well, barney is a huge star wars, lord of the rings, that kinda books, nerd

i like to think that they have harry potter in common, they've read all the books, make marathons with the movies, they even went to the universal park! and had a lot of fun there (of course they've never told the guys that)

barney, he knows robin cant be mad and laughing at the same time and he uses it as an advantage

barney, at first it was to annoy her, like writing "you lost the game!!" at random places (i'm sorry lmao, i just realized i made you lose too, lol) or "sorry, babe! i ate it all last night" at the empty wrappers of candy in the fridge

but then one day barney found one in a coffee mug:

"wow, you didn't put much imagination in hiding this one, didn't you?" he said, his girlfriend was in the bedroom finishing to get ready for work.

I made a website at fortisarbor.neocities.org ::-) there is hardly anything there (mostly stuff done during the tutorial) so keep yar eyes peeled for updates in the coming days. if you want..!

i will write a little changelog below ::-)

Oct 17: The URL was originally “antennae” but i changed it to my name since it seemed like the artist-y thing to do...

Oct 18: added BUTTONS!! AND PAGES!! So exciting. I also changed what the buttons looked like (thanks w3schools) and added a favicon. I plan on having more diverse buttons but I don’t want to get into that now!

Oct 18: This is more of a behind the scenes type thing but I moved the images to their own folder, and changed their links to reflect this.

Oct 19: The buttons change colour when rolled over. There are also alternating button colours and a bunch that don’t lead anywhere (yet). I’ve been focusing a lot on the buttons bc I’m very picky about them lol but I will hopefully begin adding more to the existing pages!

Oct 19: Added more pictures to the Digital section.

Oct 20: Added some more to the Sketches section, and made the Pixel Art page. I also turned the sketches into jpgs rather than pngs (i didnt realize how much larger pngs were............)

Oct 20: Added some basic stuff to the Commissions and Contact pages X-0

Oct 21: Added more to the commissions page, but it’s not done yet... I also added alt text to a few pages, including the new “Fun Stuff” page.

Oct 22: Converted some pics on the Digital page into a “gallery” but it’s not displaying how I want... I also fiddled with lists a bit.

Oct 24: Converted my digital pics back to how they were before, and added my ACNL patterns to the fun stuff page.

Oct 25: Edited the Commission page, added a little graphic to the contact page ::-) I can’t remember when but I added some commission examples of traditional stuff. Also added a little title banner image to the front page, but I’ll think about it before adding it to any others.

Oct 27: By now I’m mostly tweaking things here and there... Edited the banner image, sorted some pieces more towards date, edited my about section...

Oct 28: Drew a tiling background myself.

Oct 30: Changed the banner (hopefully for the last time!), also yesterday I added some commish examples but I need to add one more.

Oct 31: Happy Halloween!! I added a little Halloween graphic ::-)

Nov 5: I did something yesterday but forgot what. Today I added an example of a digital fullbody to the commissions page.

Nov 6: Finalized commission pricing (with the help of my mom)! yay! With that I think I am finally done with major page updates and anything else I do would be like, tweaking or adding a portfolio piece here and there. One thing I’d like to do is put this changelog on the website, so people can see the history.... But put it in one of those little scrolling containers.

Dec 29: Long time no see! I reorganized art so it’s new stuff at the top. (The digital page was already like this but I think the other pages were random.) Also added a graphic to the 404 page.

Lessee!

Wu: Oh, he’d love Instagram. He’d post pics of meals, selfies, things he saw around town, selfies, charity events, selfies, fashion, selfies, etc. I don’t think he would post very many pictures of the kids, if at all; he’d be very sensitive of their privacy. He’d respond to his followers and people would get very excited when he does, however.

Mako: I do not think social media would be his thing AT ALL.

Qi: Qi would follow about 5 people (all of them family) and would post gorgeous public selfies about once or twice a week without any commentary at all (except for the names of designers, if applicable) and have a tremendous amount of followers that they would never respond to.

Lin: Fuck no.

LoLo: Oh, he’d post whatever caught his eye; plenty of food related posts, as you can imagine. He would be intensely private about the family, however, and would never post about them EVER.

Naoki: Mostly selfies and posts about her training. She’d be very friendly but doesn’t really have much time for it.

Zhi: BUGS, BABY. He’d follow other bug enthusiasts of various ages and locations and they’d actually be very social within their own small group. There’d be a whole lot of very excited commentary on various bug photos and eventually they’d have a informal get-together in Republic City where they’d all meet in person and geek out. Zhi would, for the first time in his life, have friends outside of family.

Meili: She’d have the same approach as Qi as a teen but once the Bridge Clinic opened she’d only post to the Clinic’s Instagram page, and not that often. She just wouldn’t have time.

Sayuri: She does not get the point of social media and would never remember to update/check it anyhow.

Bolin: A very popular account; he’d be very friendly and feel bad if anyone got miffed by him. He pretty much will always stop for selfies with fans and will always have something nice to say when he’s linked to them.

Opal: Hers is locked down strictly to family and she’d only follow family. She’d mostly post pics of the kids.

San: Eh, he could take it or leave it. If he has spare time he’d update but wouldn’t stress if he didn’t.

Bu: He’d enjoy Instagram and would follow all sorts of random accounts and post whatever caught his fancy.

Pearl: An Instagram Queen. Hugely popular. Mostly posts stories as opposed to actual pics. We’re talking influencer level.

Wing: He uses his private account to follow family, mostly. He’d post family-only pics of the Flower Garden.

Nuo: No time. There’s an official Zaofu account but that’s what interns are for. If there are family pics then Wing will show them to her.

Orchid: Oh, she’d love Instagram and would have a lot of followers; she’d post a lot about her life in Zaofu, beauty tips, etc.

Iris: Uses it mostly to keep in touch with family.

Rose: She’d have Instagram mostly for her art.

Poppy: How many times can Poppy take selfies where she flips the bird? OH SO MANY.

Su: Instagram Matron. Private account. Family pictures required and she will let you know about it if you haven’t posted enough for her liking. She comments on every single family pic posted. Every. Single. One.

Baatar Sr: He just looks over Su’s shoulder.

Wei: Used to post all the time during his party days; selfies, the inside of bars, etc. Nowadays all he posts are pictures of his kitty. Like. All the fucking time. His family follows him but they roll their eyes at him a lot.

Baatar Jr: He turns out to be an excellent amateur photographer and runs the Northern Air Temple account, which has a lot of followers. It’s a themed account and really well done. (He’s secretly very proud of it.)

Huan: Eh...he posts his artwork and weird selfies and whatever else grabs his attention. It’s a mish-mash. Sometimes he’ll post 20 pics a day and then go for weeks without posting anything. He doesn’t really follow other accounts.

Ikki: Lots of aerial shots and she and Meelo will chatter at each other a lot. She posts a lot of stories.

Rohan: He mostly posts things about being an airbender and his account becomes very popular, which astounds him.

Sozui: There is an official Imperial Family account, of course; due to privacy reasons his Instagram is private and he only has family and close friends as followers. There are a lot of pictures of Naoki on his feed. A lot.

Rules & Posting Guide for Saiyan–Tales

As we expand as a community due to the various events we are offering, we felt that our rules were in need of an update. Although several of our rules seem to be obvious, we all know that the internet allows for people to hide behind a screen and toss out basic social standards. That being said, here are the rules of conduct and a basic posting guide for our community events.

1. Be kind and respectful - We understand that meeting people with different views, headcanons, and languages is a given with how big this fandom is – but we are all humans. Please keep this in mind when commenting or debating.

2. Everyone is welcome - It doesn’t matter whether you are underage or not; speak perfect English or not (or even no English at all); you are all welcome and we enjoy having you here. During events, we will still share posts we are tagged in whether they are in English or not. Our goal is to share work, not exclude anyone based on their language. THE MORE THE MERRIER!

3. Suggestions are welcome! - We don’t turn away ideas, prompts, or event recommendations! If you have any suggestions, please send them to our ask box, DM, or to a mod. This is your community too!

4. Accepted Content – We don’t like to confine artists and therefore accept ALL KINDS OF ART! Digital, Traditional, Writing, Cosplay, Pottery, Glass Blowing, Balloon Animals, Crop Circles, WHATEVER! If you can use the characters/ship and the prompts to create something, then its an acceptable artform that we will gladly share with our followers!

5. NSFW – All Saiyan Tales events use broad-based prompts to allow for inspiration in both SFW and NSFW. Since Tumblr no longer allows it, we ask that you A) add a link to an external post, B) crop and/or post and tag us on Twitter, or C) post to our Discord. Our discord server will require you to verify age with a mod AND have the proper role/s for posting to the NSFW event channels. We do NOT allow material of a pedophilic nature! You WILL be banned without warning. Update: due to rising concerns in possible triggering tags, mods have decided to ban the use of gore, non-con/rape, and incest from our events. Users will be warned of the violation and not reblogged. After multiple warnings, offenders will be banned.

6. NO REPOSTING! - We like to give credit where it is due and for this reason, we ask you do NOT repost anything from our events without proper permission from the OP. Reposting is a massive issue in our fandom and we don’t want that sickness spreading throughout our community. Reposts are NEVER accepted for events and doing so will get you banned!

7. Tag! Tag! Tag! – We ask that everyone tag their content appropriately during events! This keeps everyone safe and allows them to decide what they want to see or avoid. We can’t force everyone to tag when they reblog (although we highly recommend it) but tagging makes reblogging easier for us. All prompt posts will include tags that are needed and tags that ban certain things per the mods decision to do so. Be aware of what is or isn’t allowed and PLEASE tag everything that can be triggering!

8. BLOCK TAGS! – We stand firm in our belief of self-policing! We will NOT stifle anyone’s creativity during our events unless something is specifically mentioned in the event rules per the mods decision. If you wish to avoid certain things, block the tags! We are not responsible for you directly. You know what you like and don’t like and what you are allowed to see/do and not; it is your responsibility to take the appropriate steps to keep your timeline safe. Bashing our group because you failed to take this rule into consideration will result in consequences from a temporary ban/block to a permanent ban (depending on the severity of the bashing).

9. Badges – Saiyan Tales is always excited to receive new content! This means that we will allow for late entries at all times. However, our participation badges will ONLY be available to those who participated during the event week (one of the perks of creating/posting with everyone).

10. Archiving – In order to help fans find the content they are looking for, Saiyan Tales will be archiving all entries! If you are posting to Twitter, we will be creating Moments albums for each event. If you are posting to Discord, it will forever be saved in our event channels! Writers will be able to archive their works through our AO3 collection! See below for our posting guide under the cut.

****Want to be more involved in our group?***

We are always accepting help from artists through art donations! If you are an artist and you wish to contribute, contact a mod for a list of items we may still need and pick your poison. All art donated to our group will be used for icons, banners, or badges and will always be credited back to you!

We also intend on creating monthly challenges on our discord server to get our members more involved! If you have suggestions/feedback or would be interested in joining in, let us know! (Possible challenges include drabble nights (random characters/themes), collaborations, and possibly more if we get suggestions).

AO3 Posting Guide

We’ve created collections in order to help writers archive their entries for our events! Posting to a collection is easy BUT does require you to have an AO3 account to post to their site. If you don’t have an AO3, request an invite.

To post, you can do so 1 of 2 ways:

All done! Your work will be kept on the AO3 collection, as well as your account of course, for as long as you keep it up! ***If you subscribe to us, you can find us easily from “My Subscriptions” on your account!***

Method 1– you can post directly to the collection by heading to our AO3, Saiyan_Tales > Collections > pick the collection you intend to post to (these are Parent Collections for better organization) > Select the Sub-collection > Post to Collection. Keep in mind that collections will be closed before the event and will not open until the day before the event begins. This is to allow those in different time zones to post when they are ready. Each event prompt post will include a link to the collection once the collection is created. If you expect to participate, you can click the “join” button in the collection before it’s opened and give us a head count (we’re not sure if this sends a notification once the collection is open but hopefully, we’ll learn as we go).

Method 2 – Begin by logging into your account and selecting “Post New” > Fill in the information for your new work as usual. Once you get to the 3rd box marked “Associations” you will see “Post to Collections/Challenges.” Click the box and type in the collection you need to post to (ask a mod for help if you aren’t sure what the collection name is but it should be found on the prompts post!) > The collection should look like this: Sub-Collection Name (Parent Collection Name by Group). > Once you finalize your post, we will approve it and add it to the collection!

Since you’ve been gone

Hello, darling @dreamsofaazadi! Boy, am I glad to have you back on the internet! As promised, I've written down shortened versions of J2 updates every day.

May 10th:

Jared flies back to LA from Brisbane, Australia. No sighting of Jensen.

May 12th:

A picture of Jensen, D, G and the duck guy with a personal trainer surfaces, placing Jensen in Austin.

Later both of the J’s spend time with the posse (aside from D and the trainer, if their absence in the pictures is anything to go by). Video of Jared, pic of J2 with the men and a picture of the J’s with a little fan.

May 13th:

A fan sighting of Jensen, where a fan says both the J’s were there for JJ’s birthday. :) A while later, pictures of them celebrating surface!

Later D shows up and has her picture taken with a fan. Speculation posts: 1 and 2.

Later on D shares a picture from Gino’s birthday.

May 16th:

Jared tweets about a hot guy on Men’s Health magazine. Oh, you!

G posts a pic of her and the baby, saying she has something exciting coming up.

May 17th:

Jared seen in New York, hanging out by himself. Sighting 1, 2.

Jensen was seen in ATX airport.

Funny enough, hours after Jared was seen strolling the streets of NYC, G tried to place him in Austin. Jared’s clothes in the picture are the same as in the fan pictures from the 13th, when they celebrated JJ’s birthday.

Some one over at spn-gossip brings over a link to what’s apparently Lollie’s instagram account.

Jared tweets about something exciting coming the next day.

May 18th:

Jared and Jensen attend CW Upfronts. It’s glorious! 1, 2, 3. They announce an upcoming episode on season 13: an animated cross-over with Scooby Doo! Jensen jokes that he is Fred and Jared is Daphne, which is yet another couple comparison.

The People magazine story on the Padalecki family is released. G posts the picture on her instagram account. Speculation post here.

Jensen posts an adorable picture of himself in New York after the Upfronts, presumably taken in the hotel room.

Jared relaunches the original AKF shirt with a new additional logo on the sleeve! He does an awfully cute Facebook live stream after the Upfronts. He posts a picture to go along with the campaign.

Later Jared posts a couple of pictures that look like they’re taken in a plane. It’s safe to assume the boys are headed to Rome now.

A fan sighting without a picture suggests Jared had brought G and the kids with him.

May 19th:

Kristian Bailey posts a cute picture of J2 on his Instagram account.

The boys arrive in Rome and are seen by a fan at the airport.

Jared promotes his AKF campaign on all of his social medias.

A fan posts a picture of him and Jared at (what is presumably) a hotel.

A lovely picture of J2 with guest stars is posted online.

May 20th:

Jib begins! Daniela posts a picture from the breakfast room before the opening ceremony begins. Another picture is posted a little later.

J2 have two panels this day, as opposed to the one they were supposed to have - Jensen’s panel is very late until it’s announced that he will join Jared’s solo panel.

J2 attend the cast dinner after the con day is over. There is plenty of footage and stories from that night: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

May 21st:

Jensen gives Jared little massages during the autos.

Jensen got emotional after hearing of someone completing a training for YANA and Jared went to hug and console him. There is also this lovely story.

J2 sing Carry On My Wayward Son, hug adorably (you gotta read this post!) and leave the convention together.

Jared re-launches the “Moose and Squirrel” AKF shirt.

May 22nd:

Both of the J’s attend Jailbreak! Jensen keeps casting glances and pointing at Jared. Jensen lures Jared to join the cast on stage to sing the chorus of Come Together. Random pretty moments: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

While all this gayness is happening in Europe, People Magazine posts a longer het article on the Padalecki fam on their website.

May 23rd:

A gossip website claims to have a sighting of J2 at New York. Pictures from the Upfronts are used.

May 24th:

Turns out JustJared probably had it right. Jared does another Facebook livestream that is obviously from his Austin house. The curtains in the background are shown in several other pictures of his.

G posts a picture on Instagram, saying she has “some pretty exciting stuff” to share soon.

Jensen is spotted by a fan in Austin.

May 26th:

MAGI 345 Full Spoiler Translation

Disclaimer: i only to this for fun, to share it with you guys, and to practice my japanese :) which is very basic so keep in mind that i could be completely mistaken in some parts. This is just a fan translation of incomplete spoilers so: Don’t forget to support the official releases of Magi!

Wahid: Now that you mention it, that’s right. I hadn’t thought about that.

Setta: Because we don’t want to do anything in particular…

Tess: Big brother Alibaba! I Heard you but…

Alibaba: yeah?

TN: i put magical ceremony before, but given tha they are developing something that looks like a formula in the later pages, i guess formula fits better the context. but this is also some kind of ritual so formula/ceremony are both correct in my opinion. The kanji can have any of those two meanings.

People: hahaha

Random Person: But, what is magic to revive? I wonder if it’s like a telepathic system?

Random Person 2: No, it might be power magic. Because, to start with, it is said that it’s beyond the dimensions…

*Netabare text: People who were lethargic are happily talking and consulting each other.

*Netabare text: Tess’s eyes are shining.

*Netabare text: The people are drawing smoothly the magic formula on the ground.

*Netabare text: Tess is trembling and watching with excitement.

Wahid: Ah! Alibaba! There’s nothing else left but to train!*

TN: *Something like that.

an untitled post - because it’s 2am and my brain feels like trifle

First of all, how on earth has it been longer than two weeks since I last posted? And more importantly, how have I been living in Japan for longer than a month already? It seems like I’ve only just arrived but then also it seems like I’ve been here forever. After a month, I’m surprised at how much you can settle in to a new place relatively easy. Even after two weeks or so, I no longer find myself awkwardly sitting in a doughnut shop in Sapporo underground station, politely declining many free refills of coffee just so that I could hide in the corner and use the Wi-Fi to desperately try and figure out which of the station’s bountiful exits would lead me to campus (it seemed so easy when I was with someone else); nor do I feel like a confused and terrified rabbit in the market when 1) I can barely fit down the isles because I am not a petite Japanese person, or when 2) I have borderline zero idea about what to buy/look for/cook with regards to Japanese vegetables/meat/condiments/toiletries.

Being in the tail end of Autumn at the moment, everything is stunning. I’ve never seen trees with such beautifully coloured leaves, Hokkaido University being one of the most famous spots in Japan for tree-viewing with its “golden leaf” festival. It’s definitely getting colder and I can feel that winter is going to hit us running faster than a middle-aged lady at the Boxing Day 5am Next sale. I’m excited to see the Hokkaido winter (Hokkaidonian? Hokkaidan?) Japanese winter, but especially up here in the north, there is no going back once it strikes. The feeling that we will have snow from (probably) the end of October to mid-February is something that yes, I was very aware of before I came to Hokkaido. However, to someone who is used to two or three days (three being ambitious here) of ‘snow’ a year – snow that abolishes all hope of any form of public transport running or schools being open, forcing elderly folk to manically panic buy the entire stock of Hovis bread and twenty-four pints of milk from the local Costcutter to serve them through said nuclear winter, just to find that a day later everything is fine and people are left wondering if the snow even happened – it is something that you cannot easily prepare for.

Fun trivia fact: The yellow leafed tree is called a “ginko” and translates as “silver apricot”. Yeah, move over Alan Titchmarsh.

I feel so scatty because it’s been so long since I wrote something and there’s hardly been a day where I haven’t been busy with something, so this is going to be a mish-mashed “look at a few of the things I’ve been doing! Aren’t they fabulous” kind of post. Apologies in advance.

MOUNT MOIWA

Saturday. Planned to hike up a mountain close to my dorm to see a beautiful sunset and a breath-taking of the marvellous city below. Woke up. Cloudier than a cup of tea made by someone who puts the milk in without taking the teabag out first. (FYI – sorry in advance, but if you do this you are a cretin who should have their tea-making duties revoked immediately.) Typical. However, we took the rope way up to the top of the mountain and after nearly being blown over the sides of the mountain into the abyss, the sun fortunately came out and the clouds filtered away. The view was stunning and like something out of a hand-drawn art film. There was a bell at the top that lovers are meant to ring to signify their commitment and love for one another, so, because I am in love with myself, (insert RuPaul quote here) here is a pic of me being apparently super twee and declaring my commitment to being a mega-tourist. (The pic also features my raincoat and umbrella, which to the great delight of my new international friends are both incredibly British things and therefore a prime and hilarious source of glorious banter.)

HOT SPRINGS!

In the middle of the beautiful Hōheikyō dam, surrounded by hundreds more autumnal trees, we found a stunning natural onsen, or hot spring. There are onsen in the city which are inside and are like giant communal hot tubs where you can relax, however what was so beautiful about this particular bath house was that the baths were all filled with naturally occurring, mineral loaded water, heated and pumped straight from the earth. Bathing culture is something that I find quite interesting in Japan. Being British, there is the stereotype that we are prude with our nakedness, but when you go to an onsen you must forget any embarrassment or shame you might have, shed your shyness, and just embrace ‘the Japanese way.’ This is the belief that old or young, fat or thin, rich or poor; when you are in the onsen, you are there to relax, to appreciate your life and the nature around you and to be free of any social constraints, no matter what your walk of life may be. It was quite liberating and surprisingly easy to be so open with myself and my body. It was also interesting to see fathers bringing their young sons to the onsen for the first time, teaching them Japanese behaviours and etiquette and as such, there was a peaceful and very comfortable atmosphere here.

Obviously, picture taking was forbidden inside, so here is a pic from the website. Imagine this but at night, with lots of paper lanterns and orange leaves!

It’s hard to find a photo that shows the beauty of the springs!

And here’s some random thoughts and pics before I wrap this post up for today:

1) Went to an owl café with the most beautiful owls. Found a new friend and then got told we look awfully similar.

It’s the eyebrows.

2) I don’t know how or why this became a thing, but I’m apparently collecting photos of myself next to any mascots or statues I find. Lol Japan.

None have been as soul-penetratingly scary as the melon-bear. Yet.

3) If the light at the pedestrian crossing is red, nobody will EVER walk. Ever. No cars have passed by for ten minutes? 2am standing in the rain with no coat? People will still wait for the green man until they cross. It’s just the rule, man.

4) Japanese food = the absolute best. Gaining 15 stone = not so great.

5) Conversely, Japanese cheese (more specifically, the lack of) = the worst. Mumma, if you’re reading this then please send emergency supplies. Mental stability maintained by mayonnaise and cheese is dwindling fast. Help.

That’s all my ramblings for now. I’ll try and keep updating this more often if I don’t lose my fingers in the sub-zero temperatures or go into hiding and become a recluse due to lack of a good British cuppa. As always, thank you for reading!

Just a human and his owl.

I have nothing to say about this.

Story: When walking through a forest path to reach the mountain, you will see these stone statues lining the walkway. Every single one adorned with a hand knitted blanket or wearing a crocheted scarf or shawl of some kind. These statues are of Jizō – the god who is the guardian protector of children who have passed away too young. Just as Jizō protects the spirits of these children and looks after them once they have left this world, the idols are also protected by gestures of Japanese people who will hand-make scarves and hats to protect Jizō from the elements in the harsh winter. The original Japanese folk-tale tells of an old man and old woman whose grandson had passed, living in the mountains with barely enough food and resources to make-do for themselves. However, despite this they still selflessly placed their own hats on the statues during a snow storm to keep them warm. In turn, it is said that the statues came to life and delivered food to the old couple to thank them for their generosity. The old couple had so much food that they returned it to Jizō to continue the cycle of gratefulness and gift-giving. The tradition of gift-giving is an ancient Japanese custom and something that is very typical of Japanese life.
