Since my first term at my new school is over and I have above the required gpa I am finally eligible for study abroad!!!

I submitted my application for the program yesterday and have already been conditionally accepted to go by my school as long as i’m accepted into the program.

and the country i applied to is….. 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁

Taiwan!

the program is in taipei specifically, and on a university campus. if accepted ill also have a chance to visit tainan and taitung.

i’d be going for about 2 months over the summer for an accelerated/intensive mandarin course. it’d be the entire intermediate level (= CHN201+202 in U.S. college credit). as far as I know I’d have class 5 days a week while there. i’m taking CHN 102 (upper elementary) in the spring here at home to prepare and spending my break reviewing stuff from 101 as well as teaching myself zhuyin/bopomofo.

if anyone has good resources for zhuyin, traditional characters, and/or taiwanese mandarin lmk!! im trying to find everything i can then i’ll compile a list of what was most helpful sometime during or at the end of the semester :))

I am waiting to board the plane that will take me on my student exchange program. It's the first time I'm flying alone and I'm so nervous. But I'm also excited. And scared. And curious. And open to everything this will bring me. It's a mix of emotions and I'm so grateful for them. They make me feel so alive, so human. It's an experience of its own.

am i a coffee addict? absolutely.

finishing summaries of 2 Korean articles is a goal for today. it’s a homework for our political translation course. writing summaries is time-consuming as you need to comprehend the text in Korean, which is difficult. such kind of articles are full of new words we’re supposed to learn by heart.

so, there’s pattern that works for me:

1. finding new words and their definition

2. translation of the paragraphs, one by one

3. highlighting the main ideas in each paragraph and quotes that can’t be omitted

4. putting all the highlighted parts together, using necessary grammar

boom, you’re cool because you have done the assignment and practiced translating🤝🏻

Because Valentine’s Day is coming up,I’ve decided Imma make a fic for my x male readers who like Georgie cooper (same).I’d like to clarify that 99.9% of this ISN’T canon so just roll with it.

Yn pov:I’m a new student to melford high, I’m an exchange student-only planning to stay a year.

I walk into the school, reluctantly asking teachers about timetables and how the school system works,I try my best to understand through their strange, thick American accents.I get to my first class of the day-Math, yippee.

I sigh before walking into the classroom; my parents said this trip would be a great experience, but I’m not so sure..

The teacher immediately notices me and introduces me.

“Class,this is m/n l/n, he is from Ireland, please show him how welcome he is here!” I cringe at how she pronounced my country, but decide to not think about it too much..

Georgie pov:

He’s so..cool, he makes me feel weird butterflies in my stomach..ugh, they won’t go away.

I cant help but find myself glancing at m/n during class..

He lives in Ireland, I wonder if he speaks English?does he even understand English??

Our eyes lock and I nearly shit myself..who does he think he is?looking at me with those…pretty eyes..what’s wrong with me???
