A Mr. Darcy-type romantic lead is hard to write well, and Pride and Prejudice doesn't just remain popular because it's an unlikely love story, but because Jane Austen with her characterizations and the sequence of events still managed to make it convincing. But when you find a piece of media where the man our heroine is supposed to pine for is just rude, cold, and standoffish to her, without the hinted complexity... it's like, oh, wow. A mean little man you've got there. I'm so impressed. If only men were like this in real life, right? Just say "insolent nerd," I swoon.

Tumblr media
Now or Never
Whenever his hyung would place his head on his shoulder, ruffle his hair, and give him back hugs, he could never tell if it was platonic or not. Did he do it because he saw Jeongin as a younger brother? Or was there more beneath it? Did Seungmin feel that same fuzzy feeling, the way he'd have to calm his heart down? Or was everything for shits and giggles?
Jeongin spent so many nights wondering what it would be like to be reciprocated - what it would be like to have Seungmin by his side every night, to be kissed goodnight, to be hugged every second. He wants it so badly, but how was he ever supposed to admit this? It felt almost embarrassing. If Seungmin had only ever pictured Jeongin as another brother while he spent years thinking of other things, could their friendship ever remain the same? What would happen to the group? Would they all break apart? The overthinking kept him up at night, and sometimes he wished more than anything not to feel this way.
However, he knew no matter what he tried, he wanted Seungmin. So, he confided in Hyunjin.
'In my opinion, you should just go for it. What happens is what happens. It's better to try than to live in wonder of what would happen if you did.' Hyunjin's wise words became engraved in Jeongin's head.
Every time he was with Seungmin, on the train, in the car, in the dorm, at the dinner table, he began to wonder what would happen if he confessed right then and there. And Hyunjin was right, the feeling was eating him up inside. Well, what was he supposed to do? Dig these feelings down deeper even though he knew very well that they would never go away?
So, he formed a plan and decided to give it a shot.
He would ask Seungmin to go out on a date. No, what? A friend hangout, where they would go to a cafe and have some cake and coffee. Yes, that sounded pretty alright. Jeongin would treat Seungmin, as if they were on a date, and on the walk home, he would confess his feelings and see what happened.
-
'Hey Seungmin hyung! You wanna grab some coffee and cake right now!' Jeongin ran into Seungmin's room to interrupt his gaming. But then he saw Felix beside him, the pair incredibly invested in Seungmin's desktop, seemingly playing a game of... who knows what game.
'Uh, maybe another time Innie.' Seungmin replied as he smashed the keyboard and gave a small punch to Felix, 'Hey! Felix! I told you not to go there we're gonna get shot!'
'I'm sorry! OH, hi Inni!' Felix turned to Jeongin and gave a wide smile, 'I can go for some right now instead of Seungmin if you want!'
'Thanks, Felix, but that's okay.' Jeongin sighed and turned away, seeing Minho standing outside of the door.
'I literally baked cake for everyone yesterday!' He yelled, looking disappointed, walking away.
-
No matter how many times Jeongin tried to get Seungmin alone with him, there was either always someone tagging along, or at the perfect time he was busy. His plan wasn't going as quickly as he hoped it would, causing his feelings to eat him up more by the day.
Now, the group all gathered at Chan's apartment, watching some random kdrama Hyunjin and Jisung put on the television for them. Everyone was feeling sleepy, including Seungmin, who had actually fallen asleep on Jeongin's lap. He stared at the beautiful blonde before him and smiled. He hoped every day would be like this.
'Hey!' Jisung stood up and yelled, 'Why is everyone falling asleep! This is the best part!'
Changbin startled awake and started some random argument with Jisung, going back and forth while the others sat laughing. 'Not my fault that this show has zero plot!'
'Hey Innie,' Hyunjin whispered from the other couch, 'Why don't you suggest to get coffee for everyone and bring Seungmin with you. Then you can do the confessing there!'
'Oh yes, you're so right.' Jeongin smiled, 'Hey everyone!' The group went seemed to have calmed down and they all turned to Jeongin. 'Seungmin and I will get coffee for everyone so we can stop falling asleep.'
As everyone cheered Seungmin jolted awake from the sound of his name. 'Are you serious?' He said, rubbing his eyes. Jeongin tried not to blush from the sound of his tired voice, calming his heart down.
'Hey, hurry up!'
-
'Six iced americanos, one iced latte, and one hot chocolate please.' Jeongin told the lady at the register. The air outside was cool, and the clouds looked full. The pair walked to sit on the waiting chairs, side by side.
Putting his arm around Jeongin, Seungmin smiled and pulled out his phone. This was the perfect time for Jeongin to confess. They were finally alone together after days of trying. The cafe was quiet and calm, so Seungmin would be able to hear him perfectly clearly - it almost scared him.
Staring at Seungmin's side profile, he watched how effortlessly perfect he was, which made him realise that if the answer was no, he might lose all of it. For good.
But, Jeongin couldn't wait anymore, it had been too long. Gathering every little ounce of courage he had left in him, he turned his full body towards Seungmin.
'Seungmin, I need to talk to you about something.' Jeongin could feel his eyes fidgeting around as his nerves took over. But there was no backing out now, what was started needed to be finished.
'Yeah, what is it Innie?' Seungmin's gorgeous face smiled at the younger. Jeongin tried to calm his pulsing heart down by taking a deep breath.
'I... I have been feeling this way for a while.' Jeongin stared up at Seungmin and slowly removed his arm. He was scared the contact would scare him out of this. 'And, well, I think... no, I know I am...'
'Innie what is it? You're worrying me.' Seungmin's face instantly switched to a look of concern.
'I'm...' Jeongin felt his lower body start to shake in anxiety, 'I'm gay.'
Seungmin laughed out loud. 'Well everyone knows that! You're funny.' Jeongin froze. 'Oh, our orders are ready, let's hurry so we can make it back before it rains.'
'Uh...huh.' As Seungmin walked over to the register, Jeongin mentally slapped himself. How stupid was he? He just wasted the perfect moment!
-
'It really is pouring, huh.' The rain fell heavily from the sky as the clouds drifted closer together. Staring up above reminded Jeongin of the man in front of him - as light as a cloud, but with a slightly dark aura that was hidden beneath. That's what he loved.
'Yeah... it is.' The pair walked side by side, back to the apartment. Ignoring the rain and figuring they could both wash up, they decided to take their time, in contrast to their previous running. Seungmin stared up at the scenery. He always liked the nighttime. Whenever they walked like this Jeongin would stare at him. He always liked Seungmin.
Jeongin could feel his eyes sting. He couldn't tell if it was the rain or his own tears pricked at his eyeballs, threatening to release. He was scared. He wanted to spill his pulsing heart so badly, but a rejection would cause it to crack, to the point it would soon break.
He thought for a second, kicking at the dirt on the sidewalk. Telling Seungmin his heart's content could cost their entire friendship, and Jeongin wasn't sure if that was something he could risk. He looked down to the ground, biting his lip. Just thinking. His mind couldn't help but run back to all their memories, to the day they met at Jeongin had felt a spark. To the day their dynamic began in the vocal lesson room, Jeongin was struggling with a high note. To the day Jeongin cried his heart out in the dorm and Seungmin helped him calm down. To the day they fell asleep, cuddling, and Jeongin was afraid to sleep in the same room as him again. To the day Seungmin took a picture of him and called him beautiful, Jeongin's heartbeat in his chest so fast he thought he would explode.
Then he thought more. Were all these significant memories one-sided?
'Hey Jeongin...' Seungmin broke the thick silence. Jeongin's face tensed. Since when did he ever call him 'Jeongin'? He'd always be called 'Innie'.
'Uh, yeah?' Jeongin managed to speak out.
'Is it true that... Um...' Jeongin's forehead started sweating. Or was it the rain? He couldn't tell. 'Sorry. I just don't know how to get this out.'
Jeongin's ears started bubbling. Suddenly all sound was amplified. The trickling of rain felt like it was speeding up. The flicker of the street lights seemed to quicken. Their footsteps on the sidewalk boomed.
'Hyunjin told me something. He told me something about... you.'
Jeongin froze in place. They had reached the entrance of the apartment building, standing at the bottom of the steps. His hands never felt more hot, even in this cold weather.
'He told me that... Well, he told me that you have feelings for me. Is that true?'
Jeongin felt like crying. He wanted to ball. He wanted to run away. He felt so embarrassed and so afraid. Everything he hoped didn't happen was happening and he wanted to rewind time to when he confided in Hyunjin.
'Yes.' What was he supposed to say? Was he supposed to deny everything?
The silence returned, and the pair just stared at each other. Seungmin's wet hair was pushed back so his forehead was exposed and Jeongin felt himself start to crumble at the sight. To prevent that, he spoke up again.
'Look. I really like you Seungmin. I really do. Hell, I might even be in love with you. I have since the day we met. I can't help it, I really can't. I've tried everything. I know that this is going to ruin our friendship. And I'm so sorry, I really am.' Jeongin felt himself start to sob. The tears that threatened him earlier had finally won and they were pouring down, comparable to the rain. 'I'm so sorry Seungmin. I'm so sorry.'
Then Seungmin pulled him in, and Jeongin felt lips against his. Was this real? Was this really happening?
'Why didn't you tell me earlier?' Seungmin smiled down at the younger, wiping his tears away.
'What?' Jeongin had to check that this was reality.
'I like you too Jeongin. You have no clue.' Jeongin's mind started to race, and he was so surprised.
'What? I-'
'Let's get in first. We can discuss this in the morning yeah?' Seungmin grinned again and reached for Jeongin's hand as they walked up the few steps.
Jeongin felt a blush creep to his cheeks, and he felt his tears dry away. Now is always better than never, he realised.

My opinion on the whole coming out issue,
I just want to start with a quote from a kdrama I recently watched. I'm sure some of you have watched it, it's called Business Proposal. Basically there's a whole sub-narrative about a "hidden relationship"
Episode 10 from Kang Tae moo "Who cares, I am just hugging my girlfriend. I can't wait for the entire world to know about us"
Knowing Jungkook has watched it too, I really wonder what did he feel hearing this, but it really gave me the "Keep on being jealous, I will keep holding my Jiminie" vibe.
This brings me to GCFs. The videos are surely an avenue for Jungkook to express his feelings to the world. And I am one of those who believe GCF Tokyo was a statement. I wasn't here when it came out, but I've heard a lot of people at that time thought this was a coming out. I mean, even until now, when we look at the comment section, a lot of strangers/non bts fans think it's a cute couple travel video. This just says a lot about how unbiased people perceive the video. GCF Saipan was a subtle statement too. It's no coincidence that out of all members, only Jimin appeared along the lines "I don't wanna lie no more, I don't wanna hide no more".
For those reasons alone, I don't think they want to hide forever. They are doing it now simply because they have no choice, due to the current climate. Yes, coming out is a risk and it can impact the other members and their careers, but you know what? Everyone in the industry is in the same boat here. Every idol face huge risks whenever a relationship is revealed. Whether it's straight or gay. We have all witnessed the many scandals in the past. And it is bound to happen to BTS members too. Them being under the biggest spotlight in Korea for years and years to come. Plus they won't be able to keep up with the "I am innocent, single, and I will marry army' narrative forever. In the future, if ever one of the member's relationship comes to light, I believe the other members will follow too. They will take the bullet together as a group. Plus, they are so big now. They have nothing to loose. A scandal here and there will never break them. Their huge international fanbase benefits them, simply because I feel like we are much more accepting in terms of dating scandals and lgbt+ issues. Also their whole vibe right now is shifting to "idgaf anymore about what people will think"
Change is coming! I may sound too much of a utopist right now, but I really believe that in the future we'll be able to see all of the members enjoy their life with their respective partners happily, freely without having the burden to hide and lie. Regardless of their orientation.
Another one from the vault.
Like deep deep in the back of the vault.
Doing some Spring cleaning in Autumn...
Kind of strange looking at these words in May 2023. With hiatus, solo debuts, almost no ot7 content and even less Jikookery.
I guess the climate, the SM purchase debacle, enlistment, all had an impact on them.
You were talking, anon, about a member in a relationship and it getting out... well, we saw how that's going for Tae, haven't we? Given, he hasn't admitted to it yet, but man, even before he has parts of this fandom (and another one to remain unnamed) went feral.
I have talked about them 'coming out' many times. My opinion being that they won't, not fully that is, not announcing "we're a couple". Not to say that I don't wish that one day we all live in a world where they can do that and will do that without having to worry about their safety, their livelihood, their families.
But that day is not here yet.
What I do see though, especially now after JM's folio and Face and JK struggling so so hard to not throw it all to the wind scream "fuck it all" and shout it out loud for all to hear, is that as of where they are to date, and unless anything drastic happens between now and their discharge from the military, things will change after they get out.
They might not say things out loud, but they definitley won't be holding back as much. Definitely not as much as they are now, and not as much as they were even going back to 2021-2022 (LV Jikook).
You said "change is coming".
Sadly, after that change did come, but not for the better.
What I'm hoping for is for good change to come as soon as they have this hump called MS off their backs.
We know they will have a lot to say and do, changes will be made... AFTER (sadly, we know this by RM's privacy being breached).
So, we will sit here patiently, us supporters, the people that love JK and JM separately and together, the people that love BTS, their music, what they stand for and the members as individuals as well, and hope that by mid 2025 we will get to see them all on the other side of this fuckery.

I'm Not Leaving You | Berlin / Song Jongho (Money Heist Korea)
Pairing: Song Jongho (Berlin) x Fem!Reader (Dublin)
Requested by @irishxgem: Hi, may I have an imagine based of the kdrama Money Heist Korea from episodes 11 & 12? Berlin is dating one of the criminal crew and her nickname can be Dublin. Thanks!
Genre: angst
Warning: character deaths, money heist korea spoilers, guns, bombs, theft, heist, violence, cursing, let me know if i missed anything
Word Count: 2,494words
A/n: i ended up watching the last couple episodes i had left over the course of two days and was pleasantly surprised by some of the plot changes that the writers made for the remake. i did end up covering much of beginning of the show to give some context for those who haven't seen it, as well as adding on to the end with my own idea of what happens to berlin and dublin after the events of episode 12. have fun reading!
Tumblr media
From the moment you and Jongho arrived at the hideout to learn how the heist would be carried out, everyone knew that “Berlin and Dublin” had something going on behind the scenes. Despite the brusque and rough appearance and nature of the North Korean man, there was a subtle softness that only a mere glimpse was ever seen when you were in the room or anywhere near him. Originally you weren’t supposed to enter the Mint, Jongho had insisted that you remain outside and completely out of the plan, but you were persistent and the Professor figured it may help keep his younger brother’s mind sane if you were inside with him. You played your part to a “T” throughout the beginning phases of the plan, entering the Mint without so much as a second glance from the guards before all havoc broke loose.
The Professor’s decision to send you in proved right when you managed to prevent him from killing both Miseon and Denver, even though it ended with him being punished for disobeying the orders set in place by the Professor regarding the hostages. Something you would later regret as you were cornered by Chulwoo unarmed with a gun aimed and ready to fire at you. But in true Jongho fashion he managed to save your life as he had done many times prior to the heist.
Things only seemed to get worse from there, Oslo died in the midst of a riot resulting in many of the hostages escaping, whilst Jongho became more and more…paranoid over who had betrayed all of them, nearly ruining the whole plan. You were convinced that the man you were so desperately in love with was slowly but surely losing his mind after not having taken the medicine he needed. Quite sincerely you feared that he would be the downfall of the heist. That his slow sinking into a crazed madman would get him killed. And just as you were convinced everything was going to complete shit, you found out more about the plan than you had ever been told.
Of course that didn’t come without a cost. Everything seemingly began to look less bleak, only for it all to come crashing down once more as yet another person lay dying, suffering from the consequences of the unpredictable decision humans are capable of making. Bringing to your current situation.
You were looking over some of the printed notes, thoughts racing as you prepared for the worst - Moscow’s impending death. It didn’t take a genius to know that there was no way the tunnel would be fully dug before he died from blood loss. You’d promised yourself you wouldn’t get attached to any of the other robbers from the start. Afterall, the likelihood of you ever seeing any one of them once it was all over was incredibly low. You came in with Jongho and you would be leaving with him - where you didn’t know, but you knew no one involved would ever cross paths again.
So why were you sobbing into your fist as you watched Denver plead for Rio to do something as his father took his last breath? Why did it break your heart to see Nairobi’s face twisting in inconsolable pain? Why had you felt sorry for Helsinki as he mourned the murder of his brother? Why did it pain you as much as it did to see Jongho so visibly emotional over the older man? Why did he have to tell you all his name with his last breath?
None of this was supposed to happen. No one was supposed to die. You guys were to come in, print the money, and leave. None of this was part of the plan.
Leaving the office you fell to your knees out on the walkway, your chest hurting beyond words as you struggled to breath. Arms wrapped around you lifting you up into a broad chest, attempting to console you. Your fists banged against Jongho’s chest cursing him for not forcing you to stay back. For not threatening you into leaving him sooner - not that you would’ve listened. You never did. And not a single word left his lips as he held you even long after everyone else found the strength to finish what they had started.
~~~
Shots rang out as you all fired consistently as the police closed in on the barricade they’d just barely managed to build. You only had to stall them. Just stall them long enough to give the team outside the rest of the money. Fueled by adrenaline, you were so focused on firing your weapon that you failed to notice everyone making a run in the direction of the tunnel. Had Jongho not dragged you away you would have stayed, surely dying in the process.
Inside the vault, you waited as everyone climbed down into the tunnel. Helsinki, Nairobi, you, and Jongho were the only ones left. As luck would have it, the bomb meant to block off the tunnel for your escape malfunctioned, the timer not being set off.
“We’ll be caught at this rate,” Jongho rushed out looking back and forth between where you guys were in the tunnel and the vault door. “I’ll stop them somehow.”
You rushed back up the ladder, noticing how close the police team was to getting a section of the vault open.
“What are you doing?” he asked to load a machine gun, eyes widening as he saw you coming back up.
“Are you crazy?” you exclaimed, knowing his plan was a suicide mission. “You’ll die here as soon as they get that open.”
He shrugged off his other gun, “I waited for my father. Even in the prison camp I waited. Thinking that he would come for me.”
“I’m not leaving you!” you cried pushing yourself up, his hand going to your shoulders and pushing you back down into the tunnel. “Jongho! I can’t leave you! You’ll die here!”
“All of us were born to die anyway. It’s only a matter of how soon you go.”
You argued with him, pushing against his hand in an effort to get out of the tunnel. “Jongho, you promised we’d both leave this place together! You promised me!”
He bit his lip looking away at the door before looking back at you, his eyes glazing over, “I promised to make sure you made it out alive. You can start over somewhere no one knows you. Fall in love again, have a family. I can’t do that. I’ve never been able to do that, not with this illness. I can’t give you that future you’ve dreamed of over and over again. But I’m grateful I was at least able to experience true love with you even if it was for a little while.” He choked up looking away, shouting down into the tunnel. “Helsinki! Nairobi! Get her out of here! You guys have to go now!”
Four sets of hands pull you down, Jongho’s pushing you away despite your own gripping onto his forearms for dear life.
“Jongho please!”
“I love you (y/n).”
~~~
Helsinki and Nairobi managed to drag you a ways down the tunnel, the exchange of rounds being fired now muffled. You struggled against their grips even as you nearbed the waterway. You finally managed to break away not setting a foot in the water. Looking at everyone you looked back towards the tunnel.
“I have to go back and get him,” you declared. “I can’t let him die.”
Helsinki reached out to stop you, your frame just barely getting out of his grasp as you grabbed a firearm laying beside you running back down the tunnel hoping you weren’t too late.
~~~
The explosion caused a ringing to fill your ears as you neared the entrance of the tunnel. Dust made its way down into the tunnel as you got closer yelling his name over and over again, despite not being able to hear properly.
“Song Jongho!” you yelled climbing out and making eye contact with him reaching out.
He looked a bit disoriented but shuffled in your direction going down the latter, leaning on you as you struggled down the tunnel together. The mixture of your panting breaths was all that could be heard before his grew harsher until he collapsed. He leaned his back against the wall, pushing you away.
“Go! Go, go, go, go,” he repeated over and over again, his shoving getting harsher. “What the fuck are you doing all the way back here, you crazy bitch?!”
Anger filled your body at his tone and own rage. While now certainly wasn’t the time for lovers quarrel over his term of choice referring to you, you couldn’t but yell back at him with as much anger as he was directing at you. “I’m not leaving you. You are not allowed to die without my permission. Get your shit together and let’s go!”
You looked over at the tunnel entrance noticing the light shining down. Grabbing him you went to force him to stand with you, but his arms stopped you. Hands gripping your biceps, forcing to you look at him, he spoke clearly and softly with clear worry for you evident in his voice.
“Hey, look at me now,” his eyes bore into yours. “At this rate everyone will die, not just us. Go now. Leave me your gun.”
Disbelief was equally as evident on you face as you listened to his words before you gripped the gun tightly, aiming at him for a brief second as you turned to aim at the bomb. “If you insist on dying here, I won’t stop you. But I will too. I’m staying with you. I’m not leaving you.”
He gulped his hands squeezing your arms, pulling you in as he kissed you tenderly, quickly pulling back. “I dragged you into this mess. I’m really sorry.”
“I’ve never regretted it once. I was and still am with you, the man I love, and that’s all that matters.”
You rushed back down the tunnel covering Jongho as you took aim at the bomb, an officer jumping down into the tunnel. You fired the first shot, just barely missing the tiny device. The officer jumped back out as you fired another shot, hitting the wall. The third shot you fired hit the bomb detonating it. A cloud of dirt moved towards the two of you quickly. Jongho grabbed you down and covered you with his body as best as he could to prevent you from getting hurt. Although with how close the two of you were to the bomb, that action wouldn’t have mattered.
~~~
You groaned as you shifted from underneath him, coughing as the combination of fumes from the bomb and dirt filled your lungs. Jongho did the same as he crawled forward, pulling you with him. Your eyes looked back seeing the mound of dirt blocking what was once the entrance of the tunnel. The two of you were just barely out of reach of the mound, something you knew was sheer luck. Had you been any closer you’d be buried alive right now.
“Looks like neither of us is dying today,” Jongho muttered, rising to his feet, pulling you with him. “We’ll have to escape through the sewer system. Mix in with the crowd near the square to not get caught.”
“Let’s go then,” you mumbled, not letting go of his hand as you two made your way to your only chance of escape.
Many twists and turns later, you found yourself under a manhole cover. The chants of a crowd echoing from above. Footsteps echoed down as people stepped on the metal cover. Eventually the footsteps stopped, and Jongho climbed up the metal rods pushing the cover up and moving it over climbing out and looking around, noticing everyone was too busy collecting floating notes from the ground to notice him. He motioned for you to come out, helping you up. His arms didn’t leave you for a moment as you began walking in the direction of the crowd, picking up two masks and putting them as you disappeared among them hand in hand. Walking with the protesting crowd for a few blocks you eventually broke away, going down an empty alley.
“Do you have any change on you by chance?” he asked, not taking off the mask, but turning to face you. “I need to make a call once we find a payphone.”
~~~
You leaned against the glass enclosure of the payphone booth looking at Jongho as he pressed the buttons, smiling as someone picked up on the other end. Smiling, you pushed off the glass and took a few steps away, giving him some privacy to talk, leaning on the rails a few meters away and staring at the beautiful mixture of colors caused by the setting sun.
Not long after the colors fully faded into black, you heard Jongho’s footsteps approaching from behind you. His arms wrapped around your waist as he rested his chin on your shoulder. Your own hands went to his wrists gripping them tightly.
“So where do we go now?” you asked.
“Have you heard of Toledo, Spain?”
~~~
Months Later…
A soft breeze made its way into the living room through the open windows. You were busy cutting away in the kitchen, preparing a light lunch with the fresh produce from your small garden. The sound of keys jingling filled your eyes as a soft smile made its way onto your face, before you forced it away, only sparing a quick look in the direction of the front door.
“Before you get mad,” Jongho began raising his arms in defense. “I didn’t expect there to be that many people on the roads.”
You raised an eyebrow at him, a deadpan expression on your face.
“Look, I just want to buy you a small gift and be back before you could notice I was gone. Am I such a horrible person for wanting to get my girl something to celebrate a year since our grand escape.”
“As if you deciding to go on an impromptu suicide mission is something to celebrate.”
He winced. He never winced, before you became a constant in his life. Before he could’ve given two shits about what anyone said about his actions, but lord forbid you get upset with him over anything. Not that he would let you or anyone else know the kind of effect you had on him. He rolled his eyes as he closed the door behind him, placing the small paper bag on the counter in front of you without a word. Setting the knife down you opened the small bag pulling out a box. Taking off the lip you froze as you saw the golden jewelry set.
“You should wear them tonight, nothing else,” he spoke as he walked away satisfied with the look on your face as you registered his words.

I’m so curious what’s going on with Kousuke!!! What do you mean a hormonal imbalance?? The whole time my sister (a soon-to-be doctor) was trying to diagnose him because she said “turns out all the tics I found cute were actually illness”
Also unrelated but am I the only one still wondering who gave Shine Ae the orange sweatshirt in the flashback after her first concussion? Did we ever learn? In my head (I don’t know if this is an uncommon theory) I always believed Nol tried to hurt himself on that rainy day where he didn’t show up to see Dieter or Soushi before they became friends. What if he ended up in the hospital at the same time Shin Ae was (both would’ve been around 3-4 years ago? Give or take) and that sweatshirt has some roundabout relation to him? Maybe I’ve just watched too many kdramas and I’m trying too hard to find the red string of fate lol
Just a heads up to anyone following along! This is the last ask that I am responding as pre-236! So spoilers for this response only go up to 235 (though this one doesn't really have any spoilers)! However after this ask I'll be back up to date with spoilers up to 236! Just want to make that clear to anyone who may not be up to date with the last ep or not!
Had a bit of a laugh about your sister because lmao I've been trying to get my bestie back to reading ILY as she's a nurse and I've been DYING to hear her thoughts on Kousuke, too lmao but alas she hasn't been in the headspace for ILY yet so I continue to wait. But LMAO "all the things I thought were cute about him are AN ILLNESS?" alfjkakjfkjafjkafjk FEAR NOT to be fair I think a lot of what we see IS him, just... amplified by whatever Yui has been drugging him with and how it's affecting his system.
So the thought a lot of us had about the hormonal imbalance was that it was probably testosterone, since Hansuke didn't seem to want to divulge it in their mixed company, but also because he implied it was something that COULD be affected by stress, so it wasn't an IMMEDIATE red flag - but still something peculiar and wasn't something to be dismissed. Even outside of being drugged - which Hansuke certainly wasn't thinking of because WHO would be drugging Kousuke and god bless his sweet naive soul there was no way he was going to think of Yui doing it - there are other things that could affect his testosterone, thus it stood out to him but it wasn't "wow there is something SUPER wrong", especially given uhh.... EVERYTHING happening in Kousuke's life in the last couple months.
Ngl that ABSOLUTELY sounds like a kdrama plot LMAO like!!!!! They do NOT miss an opportunity to give their romance pairs a brush with each other before they ever "met for real" don't they? LMAO and like look don't get me wrong I love childhood friends to lovers but BOY do kdramas take it to a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL! lmaoooooooo But I have seen similar theories before! I know a lot of people have wondered if it could have been Nana who gifted it, like she just knits things and randomly gifted them to kids who were in the hospital.
That said, timeline wise that doesn't QUITE line up, though I don't think it was a reach to think it at all, because the fact that it's a mystery still makes us go HMMMMM doesn't it? Nol met Dieter the summer before high school, so if he did try harming himself at that time (and yes, I, too, think that he did), it would have happened after Shinae's hospital time, which was in middle school and she was out t finish school before the term ended, so Nol's event would have come after (assuming we have the timeline correct of course!).
But YEAH it still remains a mystery and I'm really, really curious. I had initially wondered if Alyssa might have done it, the one thing she could do for her guilty conscience because you KNOW her parents didn't want to get any more involved in it and probably paid off the school to keep it under wraps and keep her name out of it, but the sweater and hat seem like they were probably handmade, so I don't think my initial thought held any water. Of course that doesn't rule out Nana as a potential, because a Christian lady like herself might participate in church charity efforts and making gifts for children who have been in the hospital for a long time could have been something she might have done in the past! So while Nol himself may not be directly connected, that red string of fate you're looking for could still be there, in a somewhat subverted way, haha!
I really look forward to finding that out because I still find it so interesting that Shinae said "this shirt isn't even mine" when that lady threw her drink on her. What the heck did she mean?!

what are your thoughts on ships like delena chair and spuffy? do you think tv shows ever get etl right when it comes to a love triangle ?
Delena--was into it as a kid, got progressively less into it as it became clear that they were boring, and also because I woke up one day and realized that he had a mullet
Chair--I was really into them in the beginning, but they just got progressively worse; what's the point if he stays horrible and she stays desperate but we're told that they're actually great? Either have them be awful people together and say they're awful or have him genuinely reform.
Spuffy--I was never into this ship, to me it totally took everything interesting away from Spike and I was much more into him with Drusilla
I'm not anti love triangle. I think they can be good. I actually really enjoyed the Derek, Addison, Meredith triangle on Grey's Anatomy. Even though, to me, the moral of the story was that Addison needed a worthy man and Meredith could not hold a candle to her and Addison was life, Addison was love, Addison was God, the drama was still good to watch. Like, season 2 of that show was GOOD SOAP SHIT. Addison's entrance? Iconic television history. Would kill for Addison Montgomery.
I actually really liked the triangle in Outlander because there was like, genuine nuance even if the fans wanted it to be straight up "Frank bad". The TV show did this better than the books, imo, and it's largely because everyone involved is a good actor, Tobias Menzies brought humanity to Frank, and he and Cait had great chemistry, if a very different chemistry from what Cait and Sam have. In the heyday of Outlander, Cait and Sam had this wildfire passion thing, and Tobias and Cait had this "old wounds scar but the love remains underneath" tension and resentment chemistry, and I'm into both of those things. The show also seemed to get that Frank was truly fucked in that situation--he didn't do anything, and his wife came back from a random magical occurrence in love with another man and carrying that man's child. Then he volunteered to raise the kid, she never fully gave him anything emotionally despite claiming she would, and by the time he realized that he was 100% in love with Brianna as a father and would never walk away from her. Neither choice was bad for Claire, but only one gave her the GREATER love.
Imo, daytime soaps perfect triangles because they can keep them going for literal decades, giving you equal helpings of both pairings. This means that they are more likely to invest in both options heavily. You will not know the true outcome of the triangle until the show is gone, the actors are dead, or the characters have left for good... and that last part is iffy because you can always recast. For example, you have the great Brooke/Ridge/Taylor triangle on Bold and the Beautiful. Will he be with the "slut from the Valley" (his mother's words, not mine, RIP Stephanie, I will mourn a bad bitch forever) or the educated, elegant psychiatrist turned whatever the fuck Taylor is doing now. I'm Team Taylor forever and always, but the show loves the "Brooke is a bad girl" angle... However, because a lot of viewers also responded to Taylor, she's gotten a lot of meaningful storylines with Ridge. Taylor had like, 2 or 3 kids with Ridge by the time Brooke finally had a Ridge child (Brooke had a kid with RIDGE'S DAD before she had a kid with Ridge.
I think this is also why you might get more fun with triangles with Kdramas and SOME telenovelas, for example--because the writers can respond to audience demand in real time, writing responsively. However, some writers also dig their heels in with conventions with these soapier shows. Deus Salve o Rei is one show where I saw so many people love the "bad girl" for the main guy, but the creator loved the good girl and just kept punishing the bad girl, so the love triangle never really soared.
Sidebar: not what I would call a huge triangle, but an excellent one, exists in an all time favorite show of mine, The Five Juanas/La Venganza de las Juanas, in which the guy falls in love with a woman, only for them to realize they're half siblings before they can actually fuck, and he comes back from a trip away with a new girlfriend, still very much in love with his sister, and the girlfriend catches him like, passionately kissing his sister OUTDOORS. His girlfriend later hooks up with his other sister, so it's fine.

I finished the last episode of The One and Only this morning. I think it suffered from a lack of budget after the ratings dropped and lost momentum after episode 10 or so and began losing characters and canceling side plots. Spoilers and other thoughts under the cut.
I have questions about some characters that seemed to appear and disappear from the drama without much explanation.
1. What happened to the long-haired cop? Cho Shi Young? I thought he'd come back after his suspension in the epilogue. No one ever explained how he knew Koo Ji Pyo. No one explained why he was on leave before coming back in the 2nd episode when he showed up at the crime scene in his fancy suit. He was the only cop that seemed interested in what was really going on and his two coworkers were more interested in sweeping things under the rug. It was only after he was suspended that the remaining two cops actually started doing good police work. Every time he interacted with Koo Ji Pyo, they both acted like they knew each other and I was looking forward to that being uncovered.
2. What happened to the female chief Cho Ji Ah? Just a throw-away line about her having a DUI after arresting some suspects and we didn't see her again. She showed up right after the long-haired cop left. I actually enjoyed her abrasive personality. I'm not used to seeing a character/actor like her in kdramas. To see a tall, loud, GNC woman in police uniform who is also very bad at her job was just so refreshing. I actually looked forward to when her character was on screen even though I knew she was making the investigation worse.
3. Koo Ji Pyo didn't even get onscreen justice. Just a line about being repatriated to the US for sentencing. We only got to see him be a whiny baby in the elevator to his dad and complain once in a flashback from Mi Do.
4. Incompetent cop turned into a cute cop at the end and it really felt like it was supposed to be someone else's character arc.
Did actors start leaving because they ran out of budget when the ratings were down? (That's what I think.) Or did actors leave because of quarantine/isolation issues? Or did actors leave because of some scandal (like a DUI)? Sister Magdalena even made a comment in one of the last episodes about how everyone had basically left the hospice because they were afraid of the serial murder case and the only ones left were family.
Shoot, where was Min Woo Cheon's dog? Even the dog never showed back up again. It had to have been budget issues.
I still remember watching The Secret Life of My Secretary and an actor for a major supporting character had a DUI early on in filming and they had to change the mystery in the drama because she couldn't be in the series anymore. Having her disappear so suddenly made the plot they ended up with seem rather ridiculous.
Generally speaking, I liked it. The drama changed in tone by the end of the series - probably due to the pivot they made when they lost a portion of the cast. There were some really stellar actors in the cast - especially in the Morning Light Hospice cast. I'm sure all these women were thrilled to act in an ensemble and tell these kinds of stories.
I really, really, really hope the little kid that played San Ah didn't know her character was a CSA survivor. She's not allowed to watch this series until she's 20. OMG.
Personally, I was in the mood for more murder action from the women in the hospice to take out more bad characters. But that's me and I'm a fan of revenge/vigilante plots. I have a synopsis in mind. Maybe one day I'll write it up.
It felt like too much story - or too little. I think they could have cut some characters/plot and brought it to 12 episodes. But I think they had enough to work with and with the right writing and directing, it could have been like a weekend drama with 30+ episodes with more exploration of the ensemble cast. Could you imagine if the characters were as well developed as Father is Strange or Never Twice but with a dark theme of revenge and murder juxtaposed with light and moving stories of female friendship? Imagine the possibilities! I'm sad because the drama started with so much potential.

첫눈 (the first snow) | lee felix
lee felix x female reader
genres: romance, fluff
warnings: none
this was requested by @vickyxmelonlove thank you so much for requesting this! I'm sorry that it took so long to write this and that it’s so short, but still i hope you like it :) and merry christmas everyone!! this is kind of like a christmas special hehe
foreword;
“Do you believe in it? That if you’re out in the first snow with someone you’ll find true love with that person?”
“No, it’s just plain superstition that your kdramas exploit to make money.”
Tumblr media
Felix Lee had never been a believer in superstition.
Certainly not Korean superstition. There was one in particular, your favourite one, that he scoffed at on countless occasions whenever you told him about it— that if you’re out in the first snow with someone you’re romantically interested in, true love will blossom between you two.
Having been born and bred in Australia, it both fascinated and cracked him up that such superstitious beliefs existed. It cracked him up even further when he found out that you, an 18-year-old teenage girl only a few months younger than him, actually believed in those superstitions. He thought people his age tended to be cynical and challenge such old-fashioned notions.
That was until he met you.
He remembers the first time he met you. He had just moved to Korea, because his parents had suddenly woken up one day feeling like they needed to get back in touch with their roots, and they figured it would do him good to mingle around his Korean family more so he’d feel more connected to his Korean heritage or whatever. He was still feeling bitter about it; he missed his friends in Australia, he didn’t like Korean food, and he hated his Korean name. His relatives insisted on calling him Yongbok even though he introduced himself as Felix— apparently his English name was too exotic, too strange on the tongue to his aunts and uncles whom he never even knew existed. He had been at home while the rest of his family was out doing more visiting, feeling miserable and homesick.
The doorbell rang and he reluctantly got up, dragging himself to the door before yanking it open. He was about to say a quick ‘hi and no thank you’ in case the person were a salesman but instead it was you, a girl around his own age, your hair in pigtails, shirt so long it reached your knees.
You smiled at the handsome boy in front of you and stretched out your hand for a handshake.
“Hi, I’m Y/N. My parents heard that you guys just moved in and they asked me to invite your family over for dinner tonight.”
It was as simple as that, a mere neighborly gesture, and then you two became inseparable.
You were the first friend he made in Korea. Since you two lived right next to each other, hangouts were as simple as Netflix and popcorn, and occasionally you forced him to watch Kdramas with you despite his vehement protests. You helped him with Korean, kept him up to date on all the latest trends and hottest hangout spots in Korea, took him out on tours of the city, and he told you stories about life in Australia.
You had been friends for three years now, and though you both would never admit it, you both knew you were best friends. You told each other your dreams, your fears, your complexes, things you never thought you’d tell a soul or even speak aloud. It’s strange how this boy who just moved from Australia could understand you better than your other friends whom you grew up with since you were in diapers.
And it was obvious how much you mattered to him; you were the first friend he made in Korea, the one who made him finally feel at home in this country. The one who extended a hand of friendship and made him feel welcome and accepted as a foreigner. Because of you, Felix stopped wishing every day that he could go back to Australia; he was content to make Korea his home, as long as you were with him.
One night, you two were seated on the couch in Felix’s apartment, his family having gone to Busan to visit some relatives. You were watching Goblin with him, a drama that never failed to make your heart melt, and never failed to make him fall asleep within the first episode.
“You idiot— wake up, it’s the scene of the first snow!”
Felix, having watched this drama with you so many times he could practically recite their lines, groans. You always get excited whenever this scene came up, where the male and female lead would kiss under the falling first snow, but he could never comprehend your excitement over such a cheesy scene.
“Great. Thanks for waking me up from a perfectly nice nap just for this,” he complains, but he lays his head on your lap, props his feet up and decides to keep his eyes open just for your sake. He knows how much you love this scene, and he knows you love it even more when he watches it with you.
“It’s so beautiful,” you murmur, hands unconsciously wandering to Felix’s curly locks, playing with them and smoothing out tangles. Felix hums in contentment.
“Do you believe in it? That if you’re out in the first snow with someone you’ll find true love with that person?”
“No, it’s just plain superstition that your kdramas exploit to make money.”
“Shut up, Yongbok,” you say, knowing that he hates it when you call him by his Korean name, and reaches up to pinch your cheek in mock annoyance.
“I want a confession like that,” you moan, pointing sulkily at the television. Felix rolls his eyes, waiting for you to launch into your customary lamentation about being forever alone and remaining old spinster your whole life, but then you suddenly grow oddly quiet. When he looks up, he realizes that you’re not even watching the show anymore. Instead, your gaze is drawn to outside the window, a faraway look in your eyes.
“What’re you looking at?”
“Just, you know.” You sigh, unsure of how to start.
“C’mon, tell me what’s wrong,” Felix says, sitting up attentively and turning your face towards him. The troubled look in your eyes worries him.
“It sounds so stupid, but… I want to fall in love.”
“You want to what?”
“I want to know what it feels like to love someone. I want to build snowmen and have snowball fights and watch the first snow with someone I love. And… I’ve confessed several times to serious crushes that I’ve had, but I get rejected every time. I don’t even know why— am I really that unattractive?” You laugh, trying to play it off as a silly joke, but then Felix detects the underlying seriousness in your voice and he knows that you’re not really joking. And this is the first time you’re talking to him about your love life, which intrigues him because you’ve always kept quiet about it.
A part of him feels a little upset that you wanted to fall in love with someone else— wasn’t he enough for you? Then again, he didn’t even begin to hope that you would view him in a romantic light. You saw him as a friend and nothing else.
“You’re not unattractive. Y-You’re really pretty,” Felix stammers, praying that you wouldn’t notice the redness searing across his cheekbones.
“Maybe it’s my personality then,” you sigh, completely missing the hint.
“What? No! You’re amazing, Y/N. If no one wants you I’ll keep you all for myself, so don’t even worry about being left on the shelf,” he says, joking, but also not really.
You pout and look away from Felix, unable to hide your gloominess.
“But come on, why didn’t you ever tell me about this?” Felix asks, a little hurt that you never confided in him earlier.
“I don’t know… it just seemed so stupid. Like I’m desperate for a boyfriend. But I just want to know what love feels like.”
Felix can’t bear seeing you so upset. He pulls you into a big bear hug, caressing your hair gently.
“You’ll find love soon, I promise.”
y/n: felix
y/n: LEE YONGBOK

Felix: if he rejects you he’s blind don’t worry babygirl
Felix: but
Felix: (deleted message)
y/n: BUT WHAT
Felix: nothing atb!!
But I can’t say that I’ll be happy if you do get a boyfriend.|
Felix is going sick with worry.
You haven’t answered any of his calls or texts in the last 24 hours, and when he tries ringing your apartment no one answers.
He wonders if this has something to do with you confessing to your crush. What if you did get rejected? His heart plummets with panic at the thought.
Though he couldn’t imagine why on earth anyone would reject you. You were cute, hilarious, caring, and a great person overall. And if he had the guts to confess to you earlier, he suddenly thinks, his heart sinking with self-reproach, then maybe you would have been happier.
He takes to the streets to find you, feeling personally responsible for you. He had to make sure you were okay no matter what.
It’s a terribly cold day, and the wind is harsh and biting, slapping at his cheeks uncomfortably. With his hands in the pockets of his topcoat, he walks briskly on the sidewalk, keeping his eyes peeled for you. He remembers the weather reports forewarning that the first snow would fall any day now. He thinks that today would be a terrible day for that to happen, with you missing.
Just as he’s about to turn into the street where your favorite cafe was, hoping to find you there, he sees a lone hooded figure walking towards his direction from a dark alley. He recognizes your cartoon tote bag hanging from your arm and he calls out to you immediately.
“Y/N!”
You look up and he immediately runs over to you, and without thinking twice, crushes you to him in a tight embrace. He buries his face in the crook of your neck, inhaling the scent of your honey-and-milk shampoo that always reminded him of caramel popcorn.
“Hey, where the heck did you go? Do you know how worried I was?”
That’s when he pulls away and notices that your eyes are red-rimmed, traces of wetness around the lids.
“Did it not go well?” He sighs, before removing his scarf and wrapping it around your neck, securing it tightly before proceeding to take your hands in his.
“It’s just as well,” he mutters unthinkingly. Then his words dawn on him and when he sees the expression of shock on your face, he recoils. “N-No, I didn’t mean it that way! Shit, I’m so sorry—,”
“Felix,” you say, your voice a mere whisper, “look.”
Felix looks upwards, following the direction of your gaze.
Petals of soft, white snow drift downwards in alluring spiral-like motions, twirling gracefully through the air, flirting coquettishly with the wind, before finally coming to rest on your upturned palms and forming white specks in your hair.
“The first snow,” you whisper in awe, enchanted by the sight.
Through the falling snow, you sneak a gaze at Felix. He looks absolutely ethereal, with the snow falling around him and creating soft white flecks in his bright copper hair. His eyes twinkle with a certain unidentifiable emotion that you can’t quite put your finger on, and the way he smiles at the sight around him makes your heart melt. How had you never noticed how good-looking Felix was before?
And as you stare at him amidst the falling first snow around you, it suddenly hits you. It hits you, clear as day, bright as the sun. The one you’d been looking for this whole time, the one you’d been destined to find true love with, has been right by your side this whole time.
“I-I have something to tell you,” Felix suddenly says, interrupting you from your hazy daze of swirling thoughts.
“Maybe this is a sign,” he says, gesturing to the falling snow around him, “maybe… we were destined to be true lovers. I love you, Y/N, and I have for a long time now.”
You’re too stunned to speak.
Finally, you manage to choke out a, “I-I thought you didn’t believe in superstition.”
“I don’t believe in superstition, but I believe in us,” Felix says, before instantly turning red. “God, that was so cheesy, what the heck was I—,”
And that’s when something in your heart clicks, shattering all your inhibitions, your fears of never being able to fall in love, and you step forward and press your lips against his, tangling your hands in his hair.
It takes him less than a second to respond, and soon he’s kissing you back, lips moving tenderly against yours, his hands roaming your back, fuelled by a desire to be as close to you as possible.
It feels like absolute magic, and you feel a flurry of fireworks explode in your heart, giddy elation and sheer euphoria coursing through your veins.
You feel him smile through the kiss and you smile too, finally pulling away from him and letting him rest his forehead on yours as he wraps his arms around you tightly, hugging you close to him.
“Thank you,” you breathe, as the chilly embrace of the fluffy snow wraps around you both, “for making my dream come true.”
“Maybe it’s time to start believing in superstitions after all. Or maybe I’m just psychic. I did tell you that you’d find love soon,” Felix says, and you both laugh, your laughter like the melodic sound of tinkling windchimes in the cold wind.
So this, you think to yourself, this is what love feels like.
a/n; i actually had the privilege to be able to witness the first snow in korea this year, and it was really beautiful <3 snow was falling one morning when i woke up and it was so thick that apparently it set a new record or something;; it was a really special experience for me ^^ but walking around the slippery, icy ground in sneakers was NOT fun lmao
