Hill Top is where the wild things are! Forager and Pounding Branch Persimmon are both in stock. Forager is made from native wild foraged pawpaws and Pounding Branch Persimmon is made from little native wild foraged persimmons. For the fun of it on the wild theme, did you know that our traditional mead, Salvaje, from the Spanish word for wild, is made from local wildflower honey? It is also in stock and is a mead that is a little dryer than some of our others. Every time we bottle it, we make a donation to SAFE, Save Animals From Extinction, in honor of Billie Jean, the Andean Bear on the label who is helping to save her species. She resides at the Smithsonian National Zoo. Also pictured are some of our mulberry trees. You may remember that we gave away hundreds of little mulberry trees a few years ago. Qué hacer en caso de avistar al Oso Andino Tamá
Comunicado 3 - Fundación Parque Jaime Duque - Sep 17, 2022
Quién es Tamá
Tamá es un oso de 8 años que fue recuperado del Parque
Nacional Natural Tama por parte de las entidades ambientales
Corponor y Parques Nacionales, tras la muerte de su mamá osa
por acción de cazadores. La condición en la que se encontraba
inicialmente era precaria por lo cual tuvo que ser atendido y
recuperado durante un largo tiempo.
Tras varios intentos para llevarlo de nuevo a la vida silvestre, los
cuales se vieron entorpecidos por las condiciones de los hábitats
naturales altamente intervenidos por la actividad humana, se
tomó la decisión de mantenerlo bajo cuidado profesional.
La Reserva Natural Bioparque Wakatá fue el lugar escogido por
las autoridades ambientales como su nuevo hogar, a donde llegó
el pasado 19 de agosto y en donde cumplirá un papel muy
importante como embajador de la biodiversidad para sensibilizar
a nuestros visitantes sobre la problemática que enfrenta esta especie en su hábitat natural, lo que la ha
llevado a estar catalogada como vulnerable a la extinción.
Protegiendo a Tamá contribuiremos a la conservación de la especie en Colombia.
Qué debes hacer si ves al oso de andino Tamá
El objetivo es recuperar al oso andino sano y salvo
• Mantén la calma, ya que son animales tranquilos, tímidos y suelen huir del ser humano.
• Evita acercarte al animal.
• Evita invadir su espacio.
• No lo alimentes, el objetivo es que busque los cebos de alimento identificados por el grupo de
búsqueda para hacer un adecuado manejo.
• Comunícate inmediatamente a los celulares: 3173668260 o 3203447931 o 3108192745
• Difunde esta información a tus familiares y amigos.
El bienestar del oso andino Tamá también depende de tu ayuda.

“Mama Bear Hug- Andean Bear Alba with her tiny cub 🥰🐻 I haven’t heard of many baby bear sightings since about two weeks ago, when this shot was taken. Alba has access to her exhibit most of the day, so she can choose if she wants to come out, with or without her cub. I’ve seen Alba recently, but not with the cub.”
