The Eighth Wonder of the World André the Giant (André René Roussimoff) passed away on this day in 1993.
André was larger than life in the world of Professional Wrestling and pop culture. Undoubtedly he is one of the most popular pro wrestlers of all-time.

So, this is the drawing I made for Rayman Alive 2023, a bunch of characters inspired by the Polokurse style. I'm not completely satisfied with the result (specially the lighting/shading), but I ran out of time 😅.

How do you feel about Andre the Giant?
Hi Anon!
I LOVE Andre, the sweetheart of a giant that got to knock Hulk Hogan around?? King shit right there.
Probably my earliest memory of him was seeing him in Princess Bride dwarfing Mandy Patinkin who I then assumed was small (turns out he's like 6'3"??) and just loving Fezzik.
But watching back old tapes of his wrestling was always exciting. No giant since has ever capture that same aura. He was THE giant. His road stories are always epic and the tales about him are as tall as he is. You could drop an egg through his ring, he could drink a bajillion beers and barely be buzzed. He was a fascinating guy. I wish he didn't have to live with the pain that he did, but that's pretty par for the course in this business.
