If Gwyn and Az are mates, why aren’t they together in HOFAS? Why would Az say he doesn’t have a mate or a partner in HOFAS if Gwyn is his mate? Az certainly would have felt the mating bond by now given the amount of time they’ve spent together and the traumatic events Gwyn has gone through that Az has been present for.

There is nothing keeping Gwyn and Az apart. There’s no reason they can’t get together immediately. They have no barriers to their relationship, internal or external.

But you know who does have things keeping them apart? Elain and Az.

Rhys is keeping them apart.

Az’s “rejection” of Elain is keeping them apart.

Az’s feelings of unworthiness are keeping them apart.

Elain’s mating bond with Lucien is keeping them apart.

I don’t know, maybe that’s why Az says he doesn’t have a mate or a partner yet in HOFAS—because he wants to be with Elain but he can’t be. Because elriel is next and we’ll see them overcome these barriers to get together in their book.

So we have a scene of Azriel following the sound of Elain’s laugh, but we also have a scene of him reacting to Gwyn’s squealing as well. How do you compare these two? Do you think they’re both supposed to be romantically coded?

No. They are not both romantically coded. Only one if them is.

One scene is Azriel purposefully following the sound of Elain’s laugh and then we get the charged glance. It is romantically coded.

The other scene is just Gwyn squeling and that is a high-pitched sound that attracts attention. Just a reaction to a sound.

As you can see all the other priestess are turned as well. So it is basically grouping them all together. “Azriel and the rest of the priestesses” and the reason Azriel’s name is mentioned bc he is not a priestesses lol. It is writing. Imagine Teacher A and student group together, they are talking among themselves and someone squels from the side. You would write it as “Teacher A and students turned at the sound” this is exactly like that.

Something that makes me really sad about this whole ship war is the blatant disrespect for Sarah herself. To say that, if SJM actually makes Elriel endgame, means she’s not very imaginative or smart, just kills me, because this is her baby. She created these characters. Don’t you think she knows them just a LITTLE bit better than you do?

And if you put so little value in her writing in the first place, or think she’s oh so problematic, why are you reading these books at all? I can’t comprehend the arrogance and the audacity.

I fully understand that there are shitty people on both sides of this who lash out and bully others just for having a difference of opinion. Hell, when I felt the most attacked, I lashed out myself, and I’m not proud of it. I understand that. But why the arrogance? Who do you think that will bring to your side? Or are you just that content with looking foolish? To call not only Elriels, who, let’s be honest, are simply just pulling most, if not all of their theories from the text itself, but Sarah, the AUTHOR, CREATOR, and ORIGINATOR of all of these stories, an idiot? Stupid? All because you might not get your ship? Because you think it’s that superior? Because you would choose to erase years of carefully plotting and planning and crafting a beautiful story just to maintain that air of superiority?

Well that’s really too bad. I don’t know if Elriel will be endgame, although I feel very, very confident that it will. But you’ll be missing out on a beautiful story for the sake of your hatred. And that is just sad to me.

My 2 cents on Elriel/Gwynriel

I always wanted to know why people always try to doubt the Elriel ship because people will claim that the stuff that's happened over the span of the three books with them doesn't matter. When they've also had there own charged looks, funny moments, and time alone and this was before Nessian were getting together. Why let elain use his Truth teller something that not even Cassian has used. Why have Azriel put his life down to save Elain? Why allow them to even brush up against one another at solstice or even give us an almost kiss between the two of them. Why have Azriel still upset about what Rhys said after the bonus chapter. Why even give the necklace he bought for Elain to someone else unless it was gonna be some kind of plot point later on in the story? I see people claiming that 3 bros and 3 sisters is cliche but we were just thrown that Lucien and Elain are mates and from what we’ve see. Elain wants to be the person who chooses her own destiny. Her being would Lucien would be cliche as well since we would know they were made for one another there’s no wow factor like there was for Nesta and Feyre. With Elriel there would be Angst, forbidden love, something new. Rather than “this is my mate let me learn to love him.” We’ve gotten that twice already.  With Gwynriel I also feel like something will also happen with them. Although I don't think it's gonna work in Gwyn's favor. We know that Nesta has been watching Elain/ Az so far but Gwyn is also a sister to her what will happen when she see's the two of them getting closer or even Gwyn telling her, her feelings towards Az. I've always felt within there scenes that Gwyn likes Az more than Az likes her because of him saving her. He's the only male she can trust right now besides Rhys and Cassian who are all taken already. I honestly feel like she doesn't know Azriel like she thinks she knows him. Gwyn is part Nymph and could be a light-singer as most people seem to comment. I also feel like when people talk about light-singers they only ever mention this part. “There are light-singers: lovely, ethereal beings who will lure you, appearing as friendly faces when you are lost.” and so they’ll think right now Azriel is lost, but people tend to forget the second part of that " Only when you’re in their arms will you see their true faces, and they aren’t fair at all.” I always feel like people exempt Gwyn from doing anything bad because of her horrible backstory and her being a SA survivor. This does not exempt people from being wronged and doing wrong to those who have harmed/hurt them.  I see a lot of Evil Elain theories to make her “Interesting” Although wouldn’t Gwyn fit that category better? Not saying her being Evil but feeling that she’s been wronged. She was tortured by men the last thing we saw her doing was fighting men who nearly almost killed her. She has yet to leave the library yet and she has low self esteem feeling as though she’s still not worthy of her gem. Now imagine if she saw Elain and Azriel together and how hurt and upset she would be after putting all that effort into liking Azriel and having her heart broken? At this moment she seems to have put Azriel on a pedestal. She doesn’t know what he does on the side, how hurt he’s been, and the demons that he seems to be fighting himself. 

I also see gwynriels talking about the Little mermaid theory and wouldn’t that make the “Gwyn being wronged” theory even more apparent? Especially since Sarah pulls from OLD folklore. Now if you haven’t read the Hans Anderson version of the little mermaid then you need to because everything in that story applies to this situation. Where the little mermaid attempts to KILL the prince with a DAGGER because he hurt her by marrying another woman. Which could be the truthteller or one of Nesta’s made items. Now also Eris got Nesta’s dagger and if Gwyn ends up being Eris’s daughter I feel like he would give that to her. Now I don't think it will completely be like the Original little mermaid because obviously Sarah would finagle it to where Gwyn doesn’t end up dying since I still think the whole Valkyrie thing will pay off in the final battle with Koschei. I also want Gwyn to be able to flourish not because of some guy but because of her own self awareness. I also feel like the story being told of Valkyries and Illyrians fighting together will happen and whose the leader of the Valkyries? Gwyn and I also feel like because Balthazar is the way he is and we were told he likes court politics I think he’ll become gwyns lover so they can essentially help one another causes.  But anyways come on being a SA survivor doesn’t exclude people from making stupid decisions that they feel could benefit them in the long run. I wish people would stop acting like Gwyn is just some saint who cant do anything wrong therefore negate theories of her doing bad stuff when all of Sarahs characters are FLAWED.

A Court of Dancing Shadows

A potential summary and description of the Azriel Gwyn Nesta book idea* that is floating around, the plot of which I can’t stop thinking about and trying to imagine:

Follow Az and Gwyn in dual POV as Az and Nesta go on a journey to revive dusk and establish Valkyrie HQ with Gwyn as their sidekick.

Gwyn is there as an official scribe, making sure this gets recorded for Prythian history (I mean what else is her role?), but also I guess as Az’s girlfriend? (I am refraining from continuing down this path of thought before I say something bad.)

Gwyn’s POVs focus on Nesta, what she does, how she uses the Starborn power or whatever to revive dusk (I know I know Nesta’s power is death, how are she and Az, whose power is shadows, going to bring the land back to life? It’s not my job to answer these questions. This is their story. But I digress.), and also how obsessed Gwyn is with Az and his shadows.

Gwyn almost gets eaten by a Wyrm. Nesta saves her with a Trove weapon Gwyn can’t wield.

And while they travel the land, at night, Gwyn sings around the campfire and Az’s shadows dance. Az sometimes joins in the singing. Nesta watches. And then Gwyn and Az sneak away from Nesta once she’s asleep to f*ck. Hopefully she doesn’t hear.

One brother, one sister, and a bestie (and the shadows who love her).

Cassian is…nowhere to be found on this journey lol. Nesta could leave him behind (and he let her apparently).

And we get more Valkyrie training scenes and get to see them ride the Pegasi after they free Dusk and establish Valkyrie HQ.

Oh, and Gwyn somehow heals Az (even though I thought Az needed therapy first?) and makes him love Illyrians again.

The end!

As much as I am aware that there is hate and toxicity coming from all sides of this shipping war, I have NEVER in my life seen such ugliness towards a single character who literally hasn’t done anything to deserve it.

You can tell me Elain was a bad sister in ACOTAR and I wouldn’t argue with you, but these people who root for her to be evil in order to be “interesting” or worst of all, literally wish for her to DIE in the next book are disgusting fans who I would never want to be associated with.

These characters are fictional, sure, but the people commenting these thoughts are very real and obviously need therapy.

Say what you will about Elriel fans being whiny babies who hate on Gwynriel for no reason, but I have never seen Elriels wishing these things or anything of the sort upon Gwyn.

They said Hunt also ignored Bryce for 2 years like how Az ignored Gwyn for two years. How would you refute that?

Let’s go through this part by part.

1.

GA first meet:

-retcon. Mor wasn’t there in acomaf. This means it wasn’t that important of a scene so sarah didn’t think about it ahead of time so when the time to introduce gwyn in the new book she added mor so she could take her to library where Nesta meets her. It didn’t happen in the same book. There is 2 books in between.

Quinlar first meet:

-not a retcon. It happened in the same book.

2.

GA process:

-azriel was in love with mor by that time after rescuing her nothing changed and on top of that he started to have feelings for Elain. And even after they met in acosf the guy is still dreaming about Elain and wouldn’t call gwyn a friend

Quinlar process:

-Hunt was hang up on his past love who is dead at the time. Meets Bryce. In those two years both of them don’t have thing for other people. After meeting again they are drawn to each other and later in the book they say they love each other and now book two they are mates.

3.

GA mate bahavior(none lol)

When gwyn is thrown into the rite Azriel is more concerned about Eris. Here is a post about where Sarah says Cass wasn’t even with Azriel in that mission because he was watching nesta whereas Azriel is off to save eris.

Quinlar mate behavior:

When Bryce is fighting Micah Hunt is concerned and even Ruhn makes a mention of this in book two.

This was how he was that day with Sandriel, Ruhn said into her mind. When he ripped off her head. He added tightly, You were in danger then, too.

Ruhn glared at her as Hunt continued to glow and menace. It means that he’s going ballistic in the way that only mates can when the other is threatened. It’s what happened then, and what’s happening now. You’re true mates—the way Fae are mates, in your bodies and souls. That’s what was different about your scent the other day. Your scents have merged. As they do between Fae mates.

So one little parallel is not the same. It is the context that is important.

But these people see one little word similarity and say “mates” when sarah is known as the author who uses the same words over and over and over again to the point that people make fun of it.

Not at all. There are no pieces of evidence for that - and even with what we have already got in the text, the possibility of them being mates is less than zero. I think the biggest tell are those situations:  - the bond would have snapped in the Temple when Azriel rescued her  - she was in the library for two years and he had known that yet during those two years he developed feelings for Elain - during the Blood Rite he was written as the complete opposite to Cassian, a mate in distress over the wellbeing of his other half... Azriel decided on saving Eris -  both of them would have felt something during those training classes

So basically there is no possibility of them being mates.
