There’s no way he’s going to get it without a little help. After a moment, she gets an idea. She points up at the constellations he was describing earlier. Eric frowns. “Sky? Uh…” She pushes his cheek to direct his line of sight, then does her best to draw the ram constellation. “Aries?” All right, good job. She gestures for him to say it again. He does, and she holds a hand up to his lips before he can say the s at the end of the word. “Arie-? Ari-e?” She runs a finger down his lips as he says it again. “Arie-? Ari-el?” Yes! She bobs her head excitedly. Eric grins at her. “Ariel. That’s a beautiful name. Written in the stars.” They gaze at each other, and for Ariel it feels magnetic, like everything in this moment was set up just for them.
you’re telling me this 6’2 curly haired prince was running the island and NO ONE, NO ONE wanted to listen to him ramble on about the treasures he would find on his voyages so he could fall in love with them? all ariel had to do was listen and he was hers 😭
“Ariel allows herself a moment to gaze at his face. She suddenly realizes that this is the first human she’s seen up close. How marvelous! And he’s quite beautiful, she thinks, her face heating slightly. It’s the hunger in his expression as he views the open sea. It’s the longing in his words. Nothing at all like the barbarians, with sharp teeth and hate in their eyes, that her father described. No, the more Ariel stares, the more she recognizes pure wonder in this human’s eyes.”
Eric and Ariel’s love story is one for the books. In the first clip of the video, Eric would rather believe Ariel was a fantasy, not real, then to accept the fact that she was lost to him.
The way they gradually fell in love with each other was amazing to see. Their common interests, thingamabobs, them wanting to break free from their parents and explore the world on their own. How they cared.
Eric falling for Ariel even though she wasn’t the “mystery girl” and when he found said “mystery girl” he was still worried and looking for Ariel. How once she turned back into a mermaid he still embraced her, literally and figuratively.
When Rob said the animated Eric was a two dimensional character he was not lying. (Have you seen the lashing AEric is getting on twitter? Rightfully so.) He brought depth and life to this new Eric.
The Little Mermaid (2023) is the best live action Disney princess movie hands down!
