Mismatched Earrings #artbasedjewellery The painting is a 1465 profile portrait attributed to Italian artist Antonio del Pollaiolo and oil-based paint on a wood panel. He was born in Florence. His brother, Piero, was also an artist, and the two frequently worked together. Their work shows both classical influences and an interest in human anatomy. Gustav Klimt, Portrait of a Lady and Portrait of Young Lady @obljewellery art earrings. Portrait of a Lady was painted in 1916-17 by Gustav Klimt towards the end of his life. The portrait 10 months before it was stolen, art student spotted that it had been painted over another Klimt painting, Portrait of Young Lady had not been seen since 1912. “The Young Lady had a scarf and a hat but they both had in common the same glance over the left shoulder, the same smile and the same beauty spot on the left cheek," the student says. She persuaded the Piacenza gallery's former director to have it X-rayed. The story behind the painting was; Klimt had fallen in love with a young girl from Vienna, it was said, who had quickly become his muse. Then, when she died, he painted over her portrait to forget the pain of his loss. The original painting was of a young girl from Vienna who had died. #almondblossom #brooch #vangogh When designing jewellery our idea is not simply to make a beautiful object, but also to create a talking point, to provoke curiosity, to begin a conversation. Blossom branches against a #turquoise sky were one of Van Gogh’s favourite subjects. Almond trees #flowers early in the spring, making them a symbol of new life. Van Gogh borrowed the subject, the bold outlines and the positioning of the tree in the picture plane from Japanese printmaking. The painting was a gift for his brother Theo and his wife, who had just had a baby son.
