I love looking over someone's blog and trying to figure out if they're an earnest person who can be talked to and is actually curious or someone who is like, 19 and right about everything. (i also was never incorrect at 19, it's just the time)
Anyway, if you want to read a very very good book about the actual history of the hamburger, I really recommend Josh Ozersky's Hamburger: A History. He does have his little annoying tics, but his history is good--the man was a history doctorate and a food writer--and I think it would provide some clarity on the question.
In short, Germany invented the hamburger in the way India invented tikka masala.

just finished debug mode's video on totk's story and OUGH they surmised my problem perfectly with the issue being more so the way of storytelling than the actual story. i mean i personally still wouldn't be the biggest fan because aside from zelda, tulin and riju i didn't find the characters to be all that compelling (even characters that i liked in botw got on my nerves this time around), but i would at least be more willing to accept it for what it is.

At this point I don't think anyone should take the Shard or its power. That thing has become a goddamn golden apple of discord for the Hells at a time when they need unity and cohesion, to be on the same page about what to do because the stakes are so high.
The power it offers is tempting. I get that. It would give them an edge up on Ludinus and his cronies. But if Ashton literally exploded trying to absorb the shard, what do you think would happen to any of the others? Yes, Ashton was warned multiple times not to take the power and that he physically couldn't handle it. But what would this do to any other member of Bell's Hells, if that's what it did to their member made of solid rock?
And it's a magnet for the power hungry and ambitious. Delilah has become WAAAAY more active and clearly wants it. Nana Morri, for as much as I love her and as cool as I think she is, does have her reputation for a reason, and she was VERY taken in by the Shard.
And look at the strife it's causing! Ashton, obviously, that happened. Laudna and Delilah. The pressure being put on Fearne by her friends to do something she does not want to do and has SAID she doesn't want it and is afraid of it. This thing is just taking issues that were always there for the Hells (both as individuals and as a group) and dragging them to the surface.
It cannot be worth it. No power is worth this sort of discord and physical risk, and just by having the Shard tucked away in a Bag of Holding, they keep it from Ludinus and stop him from using it. It's not much but it's something.

ATLA/TDP rant comparison under the cut:
The Fire Nation, even when we see their side of things (the good, bad, complicated) and how sometimes the "other side" took things too far, their role as violent oppressors is not glossed over or set aside. Everyone was affected by it in some form or another.
They introduce Xadia as the humans' oppressors - it's not a skewed point of view, it's factually true and is fueling the antagonists' motivations. As the show progresses this is mentioned less and less by the protagonists, ignored in favor of stopping Aaravos from getting out of his prison (the Actual Evil one, I guess).
This is not a "both sides did bad things" situation. It's not that kind of complicated and by god they better not make it one. You do not compare humans being cast out of Xadia to the Trail of Tears then try to backtrack, tf are ya'll doing??

i love that we are discovering our boundaries and saying No, but there comes a point where you can't cancel on your friends anymore. you have to say yes eventually and actually be there. if you like being invited you have to show up at least once. like listen to your body and energy, obviously. but there will come a time where your friends will start hurting and think you're avoiding them or don't like them or don't want to hang out, because every single time you had the opportunity you said no or you canceled last minute.

no cause eddie was actually trying SO HARD. so hard to show buck that he's always seen him, that he knows him better than anyone, that he knows the right questions to ask AND HOW TO MAKE HIM LAUGH. i just. like buck saying "i feel like she sees me, you know, like she really sees me for who i am and what i've been through" and eddie IMMEDIATELY following it up with telling buck he knows he changed and that it's okay. bc he just needs buck to know that if (when) this relationship fails, he'll still be there and he'll still know buck better than anyone else, just like all those times before with abby, ali, taylor. it's actually so tragic to see eddie still trying so hard for buck when he's clearly just so tired of having to do this, of having to watch buck fall for the wrong people and not being able to do anything in fear of ruining what they have. "we all die alone" having to watch eddie deal with preparing for a lonely death on top of everything is hands down the absolute worst thing to ever happen to me.
