Paladin: Does your character have an oath, a mantra, or a code by which they live their life? Do they ever defy this code, and if so, what are the consequences? 

Genie is, in fact, in dnd terms definitely belongs to class that is beholden to a god. Which, I am yet to decide. 

That aside, she also has a loose code, part given to her by her deity and part borne out of her own experiences and beliefs. Though I admit I haven’t formulated it in words exactly, but the core of it is ‘be radically kind, so kind the thorns of people wilt and fall away in face of the heat and radiance of your kindness’. She is a sweetheart, soft and broken in some ways, and so very kind. But as they say, beware wrath of a gentle soul.

In some ways, she also very strongly believes in natural order and cycle of things and upholds it to her utmost capacity - but being nurturing and caring doesn’t go against it. When things must die, they will, no matter one’s effort.

If she is to cast large effect magic (the sort that would change lot of lives) or do something similar in non-magic sense for, ultimately, selfish reasons, there will be consequences. Though she will not be returned to her original form, her deity does not threaten her with that, her connection and therefor most of her magic, will be suspended or taken away, until she proves herself kind and honest of heart again. Fighting nature’s order at large will also earn her a sort of warning, even if it is with good intentions.

Constantly changing, but at the moment it’s The Decemberist’s “We All Die Young” bc it’s  both a jam and a mood

20. Opinion on the concept of time? 

I think it’s a lot less definite and rigid than people give it credit for, honestly. Can’t say i’m a particularly big fan of it, either. It and my OCD hate each other. 

30. Time I came closest to death? 

Time I came closest to my own death was probably when I broke my skull? Even then, that’s not very close, I guess. Time I came closest to someone else’s death was when I was in utero, so I can’t really give a good answer there either. Time I came closest to death in general is probably when I’m in the cemetery or when I was visiting my grandmother.

40. First being to scratch the sky?

I mean, it would be the debris in space, wouldn’t it? Pulled back in by the siren call of the sun’s gravity, raking stone fingers across a half-molten unformed earth, splitting the sky open and gouging the moon out of earth’s bedrock.

one day martin serves jon tea in a mug that says “I have a hot boss” and jon takes one look at it, shudders, and says (in his disdainful archivist voice) “I do not find elias attractive”

sasha & tim are hiding in the hall outside jon’s office trying not to lose their shit and the second martin walks out he’s like “he’s so fucking oblivious. I need him in a way that would make people homophobic”

jon is very upset by the laughter outside his office, but is more perturbed by the mug. what is martin insinuating about him? how unprofessional!

Between jonmartin, whos actually a competent cook and who lives on takeout

okay so I believe that they have both been each role, and have had opposite trajectories

jon lived on takeout during uni. he was so busy with other stuff that he didn't have the time to cook. however, after uni and once he got a job at the institute, he finally had the time, energy, and means to cook. I like to believe that his grandmother passed a bunch of her recipes onto him, and he's very good at cooking them.

martin, however, cooked every single one of his mother's meals when he was caring for her. he prepared her breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day until she went to a care home. and the meals had to be good, or else she wouldn't eat them. as soon as she went to the care home, though, martin started living off takeout. it was a relief, after years of cooking, to just sit back, kick up his feet, and eat some terrible chinese food.

so, in the end, I think they're both competent cooks! it's just that they have had very different experiences in regards to cooking throughout their lives. they'll both cook for each other, but the most important thing is that, no matter what, neither of them can stand having someone else in the kitchen with them

opinions on ?

okay, so this MAY be controversial (and please don't come for me for this, it's just my own PERSONAL opinion), but . and I see why others might disagree, but --and truthfully , though . I've seen the argument that , and while it has its merits, (I could be wrong ofc, I'm no expert on ). I think if you want to really dig into the meat of the matter, you have to think about how ; makes a really good point about . It's quite interesting, though a bit simply put. there are some other sources I've found on , but I haven't had the time to thoroughly vet them yet. (if anyone in the notes has any insights or suggestions for other resources on I'm all ears!) but yeah tbh I think that . again, I really hope I don't upset anyone with this, but that's just what I think! thanks for asking, anon :)
