Imagine an s/o who shortens Jamil to Jami as a nickname. Just listening to them calling Jamil "my Jami". Imagine they slip up and call him that in front of Kalim.

Jami makes me think of jammys. Like pajamas. It's cozy, a lot like how Jamil feels when he's around Yuu.

But you know I don't think it's the nickname he'd fluster at so much as it would the "my." "My Jami, my Jamil." He doesn't like belonging to the Al Asim family, and he thought he would hate belonging to someone period but he doesn't. He likes knowing he's yours, maybe because he knows you accept every part of who he is and that this belonging is mutual. He can't say Kalim is anything other than his master, but he can say you are his Yuu. He likes that a lot.

But still. Hearing you slip up and call him that in front of Kalim kills him a little inside. He doesn't want to hear Kalim talk about his relationship or try to "help" by doing things himself so he can shoo "Jami" off to spend more time with his partner. His relationship isn't anyone's business but him!!!

oh seven help him if they find out the nicknames he has for Yuu that would send him slithering away to hide in his hoodie even more than anyone hearing Yuu's nickname for him
