Follow up of the Marco And Shanks Feuding Over Buggy -

Once things resolve, the captains are somehow the WORST instigators. Roger, once he realized Marco was flirting with his Baby Bug, is caught between "well, kid has good taste" and "Oh I Gotta Kill A Child".

Whitebeard makes frequent comments about daughter in laws and it sends EVERYONE reeling, especially Buggy. He thinks it's hilarious, and it mostly joking ((but a little serious)).

Maybe it's the multishipper in me, maybe it's the polyamory projection, but eventually Shanks and Buggy have The Conversation about being captains of the own crews, of being each other's most definitely, of being married ((they are 13-15 when The End Is Nigh for Roger, and I can see Buggy having a sudden realization that Captain that Dad is dying. She and Shanks speedrun being married so he can do it. They're minors so it isn't official, but they get/make rings, set it up and have Captain officiate it so they're "married". It's the closest they'll get to the real deal and both need their dad there for this.)).

Shanks and Buggy establish an open relationship. They can be with and pursue others, but communication is key and they need to just keep each other relatively in the loop.

Buggy jokingly asks if Marco is still a sore subject, and Shanks shoots her a grin. "If you stay mine, you can be with whoever you like. Just promise me you will make sure he treats you the way you deserve, princess."

The next time Marco crosses either, it's Shanks. And he asks "hey featherhead, still crushing on clowns?"

Buggy just has a whole ass harem of boys pining over her and she goes through life thinking they're normal about her but they're not. They're literally obsessed with her. She only loves Shanks and is fond of Crocodile and Mihawk (ends up falling for them eventually, y'know) and the people she has been with have always been just kind of there? She doesn't forget them but she doesn't really care about them either. IT girl, girlboss behavior for once even if she's still a failgirl. But they always remember her. She's not easy to forget. Everybody that loves her is so protective of her too and she wonders why she never gets bothered by anybody?? She believes it's because she's now important and scary and yadda yadda but it's just because people have to go through Rayleigh, the strawhats, Shanks, and Cross Guild to get to her. So, you know, she's protected.

This is just amazing, btw. I also think they have an open relationship. And Marco being extremely confused when Shanks gives him Buggy's number is just hilarious, help. He's having a moment there wondering if it's a trap or something. I think Buggy would have the time of her life, and although Shanks also sleeps with other people, his heart will always be with Buggy. Like- He's the clingiest most annoying husband in the world. He's so proud of calling Buggy his wife. He's just there cheering for her, knowing that no matter how many people she's with, she'll go back to him!! The trust they could've had in each other if things would've gone well,,,,,, Going insane.

Then the end of episode five happens. OK I finished volume 4. I really really love the way their relationship is like. "Grounded" isn't the right word, but true to their personalities. They're not like doing huge dramatic confessions or anything, it's just a nervous and hopelessly gay Canadian trying to get through to the densest and most autistic woman alive. It's cute to see toriko get progressively bolder after she takes a risk and it goes well, and then she'll take it exactly that far again with no trouble, but she has to really build up to anything more risky. And sorawo is like, SO hung up on the idea that being accomplices is "the closest relationship in the world" that she's afraid for their relationship to change at all bc obviously any change would mean a less close relationship, and she's constantly recontextualising what this relationship entails without actually putting a name to her own feelings. But there's no way she's explained any of this to toriko at all so she's just sitting there worrying about things in the context of normal relationships like "how can I convince her to be my girlfriend?" Also their kiss was really fucking cute, I love that whole scene it's so natural and casual and sorawo is SO normal about it for sure. Also they're so right women do look hot with an axe

2. Reading episode 191 was somehow rage-inducing and depressing at the same time.

We're still on the "Persephone did nothing wrong and shouldn't be punished"-train. Everyone, including the narrative, gives Zeus crap for doing what every sensible authority figure in his stead would have done. We're somehow supposed to pity Persephone for....being sent to a safe environment with supportive friends to clean up the mess she made and refused to fess up about until literally being forced too.

Like jfc Peresphone isn't even doing any work??? The first time we see her she's creepily hitting on an inanimate object and hiding away from her responsibilities??? The bare fucking minimum and she's too lazy and self-absorbed to do even that???

Oh, and we get zero news about how Demeter's feeling or doing meanwhile, because who gives a shit about her, she was just there in the first place to be an obstacle for hxp to overcome.

3. How come nobody's eyebrows are ever normal in LO. Why are they always pitch black blobs

4. The new chapter is just confusing . Hebe is a Hera clone. Like I was literally so confused why Zeus and Hera would on decent terms. I get she’s older to show time has passed, so why right now is Zeus thinking Persephone? What’s special about today? She still hasn’t done any of her tasks, so why after so long would we even question it?

Flash back to the trial: I’m sorta confused what the importance was to the freak out. Are they freaking out because they can’t go to the mortal realm, losing Demeter to a less qualified goddess to handle her job, or as Poseidon puts it “you lost the closest thing to the queen of the underworld” (are we forgetting that hades planned on proposing to Minthe but never got the chance)

Persephone: “hey guys I’ve been banished for a long ass time, but at least my ears as pierced am I right??”   I also hate how she goes “some of it’s my fault but not all of it.” She’s had 0 growth I feel, she killed a bunch of people and she’s more focused on the whole “well if my mom was just cool about my fertility powers/if I was just zeus’ kid he would have let me off the hook”

Is that nymph Daphne? Persephone was able to save her tree form but not Minthe? Or is Persephone just choosing not to save Minthe as a whole “I don’t need to help out the people who’ve hurt me” idk

Artemis, Thanatos, Eris: aren’t they not allowed to see Persephone or have any contact with her or they’d be heavily punished.

Why is Helios there? He’s been pretty indifferent about Persephone.

Prediction: the next couple chapters is gonna be a failed meeting with Zeus and then a flash back catching everyone up to speed, but it’s gonna take so long at first to get there.

5. Okay so I read the new chapters bc why not and tbh I was pleasantly surprised with how the characters were drawn in the premiere. Idk but they felt like they had more time put into them and their hands especially were really nice and looked like they came from a reference. That all changed in the next chapters tho ofc.:/

Fast Past Spoiler:

The time skip in itself is not bad, but oh my god it feels like none of the characters have actually changed except Artemis’ relationship with Zeus. Like they’re all the same characters just grown up a bit, but only characters like hebe actually show that. And of course everyone is so up in arms over Persephones punishment. I can get why Hades would be mad and why Poseidon would be upset because his brother won’t talk to him anymore, but everyone else is wayyy too upset over some random girl. Like everyone but Artemis hates Zeus rn and EVERYONE loves Persephone. And god the whole Minthe and Daphne thing? The point of their stories were that they were the victims of a tragic circumstance. In the case of Minthe, because of her own doing, and Daphne, because of Apollo. It’s like there are no consequences for anyone who Persephone likes. Daphne and Minthe should’ve stayed as plants. It would be the end of their stories and would equate to actual loss for Persephone. I see Rachel hasn’t gotten any better at writing. So much wasted potential to turn the story into a chance for growth in both the characters and writing. The only thing I liked out of the four new episodes was the touching moment between Zeus and Artemis. Why has their relationship grown  and changed but no one else’s? This story feels more about Zeus and his actions and consequences and growth than Persephones tbh.

1) What made you ship it?

I love the idea of Max being one of the first people to expand Eleven's horizons and treat her normally/see beyond the fact that she has superpowers. The Material Girl Mall Scene is one of my favorite scenes in the entire show since it's just a good, fun time. Eleven's first taste of real freedom and fun. They also just compliment each other well since El's more softspoken whereas Max is more boistrous.

To be clear, I also hardcore ship Lumax, but Elmax just has something about it that makes me very happy.

2) What are your favorite things about the ship?

Again, the complimentary personalities and girls backing up girls. Also just... this. I don't know if this is just a normal thing, but I wouldn't get this cozy with my closest friends that I've known for fifteen plus years, let alone a few days.

3) What's an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Honestly I try to stay clear of ST shipping discussions so I don't know what's really a "popular" vs an "unpopular" opinion. Idk I'll just say that I think it's really close to or on the same level as Lumax (but again I loooove Lumax)

1) What made you ship it?

I mean, in my opinion it's very obvious that there's tension there. Will absolutely has a crush on Mike but can't say it, and Mike, bless his heart, is too fucking oblivious to realize that or that his own feelings for Will seem to go far beyond that of his other friends. Also just like... I love Will and the poor kid deserves to have something he really wants, even if he's not really sure how to cope with it.

2) What are your favorite things about the ship?

The best friends dynamic is cute, it's an idea that makes Will happy, and I love how every time, without fail, my roommate and I see any blue-and-yellow object(s), we call it "The Byler [Object(s)]. So my bike is the Byler Bike since it's blue and yellow and we always tried to get a blue bowl and a yellow bowl at the dining hall (one had the blue, one had the yellow) so we could have Byler Bowls. Byler brings people together.

3) Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I think I'll get sniped for like... any semi critical Byler opinion bc half-offense (as opposed to full or no offense) some of y'all are fucking crazy, so I'll just say one since I probably have a couple. Mike Wheeler doesn't deserve Will Byers because he gets too swept up in Eleven to understand that his friend is going through shit, which isn't condusive for a healthy relationship.

I have a lot of opinions on Mike and his relationships with Will and Eleven in general and I want to make it clear that I don't hate Mike, or anything close. I think Mike's just not quite emotionally mature enough to handle relationships yet, especially ones with so many complexities as Will and Eleven. I have/had the same problem, so I'm not chastizing him, I'm saying I'm the same way and I see the signs.

Mike's too tunnel-visioned on Eleven to give proper attention to Will, and this can coexist with the fact that Mike's just not the right one for El since I think he's tunnel-visioned on her abnormalities of her rather than the normalcies that should be celebrated, which is where Mileven and Elmax differ for me. In my opinion, Eleven wants as close to a normal life as she can get after all the shit she's gone through, and I don't think Mike really seems to understand that.

I don't wanna do a whole analysis post because one, this is just an ask game; two, many people with more knowledge on the subject have done this before me; and three, this is not my circus, not my monkeys, Stranger Things ships aren't my expertise, the Creels and HNL are.

But tl;dr, neither Byler nor Mileven are currently viable because Mike needs more time to mature and develop before he himself can understand what he wants. The kid's a freshman in high school dealing with supernatural world ending threats every few months, I wouldn't be able to function normally either.

hi, im reading "i’ll make it up to you" rn and, please dont get me wrong here, i love your writing.

but it’s breaking me to think that after what happened in the upside down, people would think that a month to recover is enough or 'a long time'.

i didnt experience what eddie experienced, but i know the feeling of your body being violated, i know the feeling of not recognising myself when i look in the mirror. i dont wanna say being raped is the same as almost dying, it’s just the way that you write eddie is very similar to how i felt when it happened to me.

i have no right to assume that was your intention and that’s not what im trying to do here. what i want to do is talk about the one month thing.

after my (back then) boyfriend raped me, it took me two weeks to realise what even happened. it took me two days to find the courage to break up with him. after that, it took me two months before i could tell anyone what had happened, my closest friends and my therapist.

it has been almost two years now and i still struggle to even say what happened, let alone fully talk about it.

one month is nothing, it’s no time.

im saying this because i need people to know that for people who’ve undergone such trauma, the one month… its just nothing. and for a lot of people, it takes a whole lot longer.

i need you to know, that if you ever interact with someone who’s had something traumatising like this happened to them, please be patient. i needed everything to be the same as it was, i needed a normal life around me.

the one thing that would’ve broken me for sure would be if people had expectations at this point.

in your eddie fic, the reader expects him to come back but gives up after a month. a month is hardly enough time for the physical scars to heal, let alone the mental ones.

i dont wanna come off as condescending and i know, i’ll most likely fail. but i say this because i love this fandom, i love the community and i love the people.

trauma takes time, a lot more time than a month. please consider the message you’re sending with your writing and how it affects those that may have experienced something similar.

firstly I’m so sorry this happened to you, I cannot imagine that kind of pain and trauma

secondly it was not my intention to say that a month is by any means long enough to deal with any kind of trauma, the issue of the fic was supposed to be the fact that Eddie completely pulled away from the reader for a whole month and she was left feeling useless as to what to do about it

the reader, or me as the writer, was never expecting Eddie to have recovered from his truama from one short month, the issue was the reader couldn’t take him pulling away from her for that long and she just wanted to know what more she could do to help

I’m also not really trying to send any kind of message with my fanfiction bc it’s literally fanfiction, I appreciate you don’t mean to sound condescending but that is unfortunately how it’s come across and I have to, as respectfully as possible, defend myself and my work bc it’s not my intention to make anyone feels uncomfortable with my work

like I’m sorry if the fic came across the wrong way and you’ve read it like that but again the emphasis was supposed to be on the crack caused in their relationship by his trauma and not that he needed to like hurry up and deal with it or whatever, reader was never expecting him to fully come back after a month but they couldn’t keep going on as they were, they ar least needed to have some kind of discussion of what was going on, even if it was just for him to say that he needed more time but appreciated her being there or whatever, but that’s just not the direction I took with the story

I’ve been through and am still currently going through traumatic situations in my life, perhaps not directly comparable to this, but I still completely understand first hand how long it can take to heal from certain things but I also appreciate that everyone heals at different speeds too so

yeah I don’t really know what else to say, it is absolutely never my intention to upset or offend anyone with my fics, which again are literally just fanfiction, so yeah idk I’m sorry if you felt upset or triggered by it, I do apologise, but that’s not how I meant it to come across

he’s performing bravado he’s performing being this kind of family man / eldest son / red blooded american male . even with his brother and sister who he GREW UP WITH. “i had never allowed myself to feel emotionally close to ANYONE.” he’s so dedicated to it that he regularly patronizes the same sex worker so people will think he’s attracted to women. and she’s his closest friend he’s not related to. so dedicated that he needs to pull a knife on his brother in the street. we literally do not see louis read books as a human. with lestat he cries at the opera he feels seen and wanted for the first time . “all these roles you conform to and none of them your true nature” like lestat does to some extent keep parts of that promise louis DOES gain things  just through starting to live w lestat and through the insurance of lestat’s capital. even though he’s still acting the businessman in public. he allows himself to be soo much softer in those six honeymoon years (and his mother judges him) and we barely glimpse it. bc louis’s narration omits it. and then w claudia he becomes completely removed from human affairs and i think this period from claudia’s pov where hes happy IS really genuine like this is probably the point in the show where he is performing the least. or minimum it’s the performance he enjoys the most. i think bc its a balance maybe? hes responsible for claudia’s well-being like he was for grace and paul and his mother but he’s her father not the pointe du lac family executor so he still gets to be the same self he is around lestat. doting. “it’s chiffon it has movement.” telling her love between men feels like love. without any defensiveness. lestat’s proprietary arm around his shoulders. they’re all kind of thriving here i think. then everything falls apart and he’s not performing bc hes depressed out of his mind. Then the end of episode five happens. Episode six and beginning of episode seven he’s also depressed out of his mind but now there’s the need to get everything back to normal to make their family work the way it used to before trust was broken. domesticity becomes the site of horror. where once it was freedom from having to perform aggressive masculinity now its hierarchy reinforced over and over. clean up this mess and come to coffin. i think this is the “performing being the submissive one in the relationship” era actually. and then end of episode seven i think it’s not even stepping up the performance its the removal of that barrier of resentment that the tense performance from earlier was providing. it’s letting himself go back to enjoying it. like he did with the honeymoon phase. letting himself be in love w lestat without the guilt and resentment thats festered since episode five. and letting that genuine submission be totally disarming. the fact that its genuine is why they (claudia and louis) win and why they fail. and this range is possible bc it takes place over the course of thirty+ years and jacob anderson is portraying ALL of it with aplomb . plus whatevers going on in dubai in the present (i think he is genuinely more normal about gender in the present bc you know its not the 1930s but whatever is happening with power is still an extreme performance and its bizarre and also exclusively for daniels benefit ??) i’m insane by the way.

oh man this is going to be funny because. despite everything. i still have not finished p5r.

describe their canon relationship/dynamic

auuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. i know it. they both care deeply about the other. kasumi even more so as the Big Sister:tm: theyre each others closest friend but it hurts that sumire doesnt have the confidence in herself to... confide in her sister. its not bc she doesnt trust kasumi. its not bc kasumis a bad sister. sumire just doesnt feel like her troubles are worth kasumis time, and unfortunately for all kasumi loves her, her taking the lead just contributes to her lack of confidence. the twins make me feel everything.

your ideal/headcanon version of it? how does it differ from how it is in canon & why is this your favorite version? any other alternate versions of it you enjoy?

oughahhghg okay this is going here bc again i havent finished so im like spitballing here so you and crow have to correct me but. as far as i know the yoshizawa mom just... isnt in the equation at all. jsut their dad. so i subconsciously just picture kasumi taking the lead as the Big Sister bc. thats just what big siblings should do, but also making up for the lack of a mother figure to keep them in line. if p5r has mentioned the yoshizawa mom and i just somehow dont know about it completely disregard me being an idiot btw <3

what do you like about their relationship, why is it interesting or enjoyable to you?

ithink i already answered this in point 1 help me. but god. god........... i love it when family is dysfunctional but not outright Abusive and Bad, you know? the problems between the yoshizawa twins stem mostly from sumire's lack of self confidence but. its not inherently all a Bad thing bc... kasumis actions all come from a place of love and belief that her sister is just as good as she is. Thats what gets me the most. sumire subconsciously wants to become her sister, because sumire will never be as good or as perfect as kasumi. kasumi thought her sister saw the sheer unconditional love she had, and pride she had towards her, to have her sister stand by her side as equals. but this just serves to unfortunately make sumires issues Worse.

what about the individual characters involved? what does this relationship mean to them, what makes it unique among their relationships?

kasumi's love unfortunately twisting sumire and setting her down the path of "i Need to become kasumi, because sumire will never amount to anything" makes me feel extremely freaking normal. WAIT I. sorry im having a realization does sumi just. keep living the lie that she Is kasumi for all of maruki's realities. does sh. does the. jesus christ. sumire is so normal she is absolutely processing hthe death of her sister and her 97 mental illnesses absolutely perfectly.

this is going to be so fucked up while i love "its my right as the elder sister" i think if i had to pick a favorite from that its kasumi desperately calling out for sumire. im sorry thats what my answer for this is i jsut *grips my desk so hard* It gets me everytime okay.
