Why do you do what you do for YOU? For me, it's because I want to feel better, coz I want to be the best of myself at all times knowing that I always need to be there for my family. I can't imagine not being healthy enough to do what I need to do coz I chose the wrong choice about my health. As I grew older, I started to pay more attention of what I'm putting inside my body since I used to be able to eat like a "truck driver". 🤣😂 So, since starting my meal replacement shake routine, I can't say enough how much this helps me, with everything, from gut health to losing the pounds, to feeling better overall. As an adult, being healthy takes a lot of effort.
It is disturbing how easy it is to run your body, your mind, your spirit, your self as a whole into the ground, literally...
It is not that hard to kill yourself if you refuse to:
1. Drink water.
2. Sleep.
3. Eat healthy food.
4. Educate yourself. Etc.
I looked at myself in the mirror this morning and said
"man, I used to be a beast"
Don't get me wrong, I'm still in pretty good shape. But I'm not where I was or where I want to be.
Maybe I got too comfortable..

Sehat itu Koentji
Musim panas tahun lalu di Jerman, mungkin adalah titik balik terpenting dalam hidup seorang beruang. Ceile... Musim panas, habis bulan puasa. Terkikis dalam penyakit flu dan infeksi saluran cerna yang silih berganti, membuat jadi mikir, "I have to move on," gak kebayang gimana bisa nyelesaiin riset dengan jam ijin sakit setinggi ini
.
Mulai dari sepedaan. Dari anak serumah kos, tahu ada sepeda yang bisa disewa. Bisa per hari, bulan, atau tahun. Lumayan murah sih daripada beli. Juga karena saya merasa geer bentar lagi selesai dan pulang, "What's the point of buying the new one?" Mulai sepedaan. Sehari dua hari tepar, mana pake acara nyasar lagi. Butuh 2 jam untuk nyampe ke lab, bayangin! Juga karena bawa karung beras, sepeda itu jalannya kayak siput dikasih barbel.

Hampir nyerah. Sampai di momen mau nyerah itu, saya lagi sepedaan ke lab, tetiba saya dibalap kakek-kakek yang lagi Jogging! Beneran. Si kakek kayaknya udah 70an, pakai pakaian olahraga yang ketat, dan lari santai melewati saya. Timbul rasa bersaing, saya ngebut ngelewatin, eh kakek itu bisa nyusul. Sampai saya sengaja belok, terus berhenti dan minum biar gak ketemu kakek itu. Maluuu!
Tapi itu jadi wake up call untuk saya. Iya, kita butuh wake up call kan ya? Dalam segala hal. Maka saya insyaf bahwa sepedaan aja, tapi setelah itu pulang ke rumah dan makan 1 bungkus Ritter Sport, 2 bungkus chips, kentang goreng pake nasi dan 5 sosis plus nugget gak akan membuat saya lebih kuat. Lagipula saya gak optimal kerja di lab kalau lemas naik sepeda.
Saya memutuskan gak akan mengurangi makan. Tapi saya akan mengubah pola makan jadi lebih sehat. Beruang itu besar tapi sehat kan? Saya menyingkirkan segala bentuk gula dari meja. Hanya berbelanja buah sayur, berhenti beli coklat dan segala macam makanan instant. Menuruti saran ahli gizi saya dari Luebeck, saya makan sebanyak-banyaknya, tapi sayuran dan buah-buahan. I did it without knowing the name. Gak tahu clean eating, atau Paleo. Baru-baru ini aja tahu. I just tried to eat healthier.
Dan berhasil. Untuk pertama kali dalam hidup saya berhasil lebih sehat. No flu in more than 3 months! Gak ada lagi sleep paralysis, sakit kepala. Bisa naik sepeda non stop dalam 2 jam, yang awalnya tiap 15menit berhenti karena lutut mau copot.
Dan kalau ada orang yang bilang, kamu adalah yang kamu makan, itu benar banget. Setelah makan lebih sehat, saya menemukan bahwa selera saya membaik, tubuh membaik, mood membaik, stress menurun, bisa lebih baik dalam beribadah dan beraktivitas, lebih optimis. Saya bisa naik sepeda, bahkan ketika pindah ke rumah yang jauh, hampir 7 kilo dari lab.
Saya menuliskan ini, sebab saya bahagia bisa merasa sehat. Sehat itu salah satu anugerah dari Allah, tapi kita harus ikhtiar kan? Dan menjaga tubuh yang dianugerahkan Allah, jadi bentuk ikhtiar dan rasa syukur
