kinda just spitballin here but. what about a darkish laura lee who supports and maybe even instigates the cannibalism by ritualizing it and saying it's gods plan for saving them, but then once they get rescued she admits to one of them that she gave up on believing in a good god soon after the crash and everything she did from then was to encourage the others to partake/give them an excuse, when really her only priority at that point was finding a way for her (and lottie) to survive no matter what it took

YEAH yeah. i'm into it!! i like it!! i think that if we're sticking to canon one of the only ways that jackie and laura lee would've have given into the cannibalism is because it means saving their beautiful brown eyed girlfriends. with laura lee specifically, she could totally do this because of how much she loved lottie and she would get away with it. she would've definitely pushed even more the idea that lottie had visions that could save them, that lottie was the most important person in the group and it was worth it doing anything to save her. and the fun thing about laura lee is that she could pull this off even after losing her faith, but she could totally genuinely believe in it. it's god's plan / lottie is seriously some kind of goddess / whatever combination of it, laura lee might believe it, turnt he cannibalism into holy communion, etc
