the song title "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" was inspired by a line in Douglas Coupland's novel Shampoo Planet. In it, the main character says "I am writing a list of tragic character flaws on my dollar bills with a felt pen. I am thinking of the people in my universe and distilling for each of these people the one flaw in their character that will be their downfall – the flaw that will be their undoing. What I write are not sins; I write tragedies"

songwriter Benny McKee explained that Dynamite "wasn’t meant to be a straight-up party song. Updates:

On the A-side, there's only two more rounds of torture until round two. Luckily, these polls don't seem to be as awful (and horrible and how did the matches come out like this I literally randomized them 30 times how did ones with the same audience get put up against each other wtf) as the most recent ones but you can check that on the link on my pinned post.

The B-side poll is open again! While I do remember loving some of the submissions, I don't remember them, so could you guys please resubmit any that you remember? Also please just submit anyone you think of. I haven't decided yet whether to include some losers from side A, let me know what you think about that.

I never knew there were so many genres, but there's 52 submissions right now. I'm kind of curious as to what some of these are. Idk when I'll close the submissions and start the poll, but I think I should start it after the artist competition is finished. Let me know what you think about that, too.

I can think of more than 74 songs off of the top of my head. I'm going to start the poll at 1024 separate submissions or after the genre poll, whichever comes first, but do better. If you want to just skip the reasoning part, that's fine because I'll be just putting the songs in the poll, not adding anything extra. It's not one vote per person. I made it have unlimited takes for a reason, and that's that I don't care how many songs you submit. Submit the same song thirty times. It's fine. It won't interfere with my spreadsheets in any way. Enjoy the submissions.
