Don't even get me started on how I think that Gilbert would be a fucking BEAAAAAAAAST at brazilian jiu jitsu. Like if he wasn't so fucked in his spine . And he got into that sport. Omfg. Dude. Like y'all know how Tom hardy got into it . Gilbert has long legs long arms big feet big hands he's also RIPPED and when he takes care of himself flexible. And he just ks very in tune with his body. I think he'd be great at MMA in general and be a hell of a boxer but Gilbert in bjj man fucking killer. I'm going to draw this

ACOTAR MEN AND THE SPORTS I THINK THEY WOULD PLAY:
Tumblr media
note: this is all up for interpretation, so feel free to list your suggestions in the comments !!
rhysand: definitely a big shot baseball player. can imagine him in the traditional pinstriped yankees uniform. real smug bastard on the field, mind-fuck strategist.
cassian: is a beast at heavy weight sports, but this man cannot run to save his life. prefers more stationary sports like boxing and wrestling. competes in weightlifting events for fun.
azriel: only participates in team sports if cassian and rhysand are playing, but i think he would thrive in individual or one-on-one sports. martial arts like bjj (brazilian jiu-jitsu) and judo are his best.
tamlin: this man screams front row prop. say your thoughts and prayers because he will quite literally go beast mode and bulldoze you over. always getting carded and warnings because he can’t reign in his temper.
lucien: now call me biased but lucien is a jack of all trades. he dabbles in all sorts of sports, mostly of which are unconventional, and is really good at them once he puts his mind to it. that being said i would say he plays a mix of track and field, lacrosse and volleyball. occasionally does archery and swimming.
tarquin: any and all water sports and baby tarquin is undefeated. loves waterpolo and competitive swimming.
varian: wind-surfing, for sure. i would also say rowing; amren especially loves his arms.
helion: is definitely a former rugby jock. a literal powerhouse on and off the field. those thunder thighs be THIGHING. also dabbles in shot put because i feel like he would unironically be really good at it.
thesan: he gives me major badminton vibes. i dont know why, but just racket sports in general??????
kallias: any and all winter sports and kallias is there. a pro at ice hockey and speed skating. likes to do duo figure skating with viviane.
beron: is literally one of those middle age, upper middle class white men who spend all their free time at the country club, sipping on top shelf whiskey and abusing the clubs workers. probably plays golf and tennis, croquet too but hes too prideful and thinks its for old people.

tbh people told me abt martial arts before, that they did it or how much it offered them. But I didn't really think much of it other than "oh cool. That's great for you". I mean my bro did taekwondo and I took him to classes 3x a week. And it helped him a lot, gave him confidence. And still I didn't think much of it. Until I started going myself last fall and how much technique and fitness goes into it, and what it can really offer. I mean it's totally possible that you do not like it. But you wont know precisely what goes into it and what it feels like, and what you feel afterwards from just listening to someone about it.
Also I think I like Muay Thai more than bjj. . I'm just naturally better at certain things in muay thai like kicking and clinching. Its also shown me that I already have a very strong core which helps with many of the movements. So it kinda feels nice to be able to do certain things well as a beginner, as opposed to totally sucking and being discouraged. Also MT is a beast in terms of how much impact over such short range of motion. And a lot of MT fighters are skinny too and they kick hard enough to reverberate thru the gym
Whereas with bjj, I totally suck lmao. my strong core was very useful however for shrimping, I learnt that like it was nothing and my coach was impressed tho. He said men struggle with this move. Idk may be it's just easier as a woman? Cos I can't imagine shrimping being hard to do lol

Ig @jitsboy
Today was a great opportunity to get back to competing, but it was also great to see @tomhardy; a gentleman in taking time for photos, while still being a beast on the mats! 🤙
This is why I love this sport so much, someone like me (a nobody in the grand scheme of things) can rub shoulders with the Hollywood elite, and the finest that BJJ has to its name like @braulioestima and @markormrod to name a few!
It probably meant little to him, but to this old battered black belt it meant the world! Thank you Mr Hardy 🙏
Osss!

Livestream Recap Tuesday, 27 Feb
-said he was in a crappy mood because of Cody being up his ass in his apartment and calling pharmacies
-had a lot of work stuff coming up, got humbled/his ass kicked at Sean’s gym. Said the training session was brutal
-said he’s not sure what he was thinking because he’s only done like 10 MMA classes and thinks he’s going to do a pro fight
-pretended to meditate (like back when he was with Georgie) then said “remember when we were in that relationship where I was being manipulated” - very strange comment to make since WE weren’t in a relationship together and HE wasn’t in a relationship with Georgie either
-said he’s done skydiving forever because of that hematoma he got last time, still has a lump from it
-knows it’s hard to keep up with his phases of what he’s into
-thinks Kyle was inspired to run the upcoming LA marathon because of Jeff running the NY one but Kyle hasn’t officially said that 🙄
-had a body scan (he showed on his Snaps) and said he’s in perfect health
-got that blue box chocolate PR box from Mr. Beast. It’s lit up so there was a black battery pack in the box. Cody being the moron he is said that it was a listening device and Jeff started getting paranoid. I thought he was joking but if you watched him in the H3 stream he mentioned it there again and seemed like he actually believed it.
-said he has a funny dating story that he’s waiting to share in live shows. A tour will be in the future. (He’s been saying this since fall 2021 guys. He’s lost a huge chunk of his supporters he had when Patreon started. The new influx of viewers he has now are Tana fans and probably wouldn’t pay to see his live show. I don’t think a live show will happen soon despite him saying it will. They’ve been spending Mondays as writing days for a live show though)
-said the latest meme on IG is true (it shows Jeff in bed with a girl and Cody in between them because he’s always around). Cody liked the meme but then seemed actually bothered by it on the live. He’s such a wimp.
-they both were sent Brooks running shoes after he whined about Cody Ko being sponsored for the NY Marathon (maybe because Cody is actually an athlete and focused on that)
-to Cody: “I gotta find a girlfriend eventually so you’ll have to find your own way”
-is proud of his niece with her bjj classes
-closed the pod room door and said they boys “lost” another pod episode while he was in AZ with Suga Sean. Handled it better but was annoyed. When the Bruce thing happened he asked Casey Neistat and his parents for advice
-someone asked if he feels like he’s his authentic self around his friends and Jeff of course said yes, around strangers too. 🙄
-Oscar said they could do an AI episode of the Bruce pod because I guess he has the audio and screenshots? Jeff sounded like he wants to do that but who knows with them
-said he used to be aggressive when they filmed the barbershop episodes but he’s gotten soft. Said it seems like he had more fun back then
-said he saw some clip of Tana and Brooke saying that Jeff is too hot and they couldn’t date him or something. He spoke in a weird voice and said he’d “get them” the next time they were on the show (he was joking and acting like they had said something offensive)
-there were issues with the live and it only worked on laptops but no phones so he was saying he will make a YouTube membership like H3 and move all previous Patreon vids over there. Then at the end he said he’d think about doing that so he doesn’t know what he’s doing, as usual.
-there will be a merch drop soon
-he said “consistency is key” which made me laugh because would any of us use consistent as a word to describe Jeff at all? Definitely not
-someone asked for advice about a long distance relationship but he’s never been in one so had no advice to give.
-said Cierra was gone to film a movie where she had to kiss a guy. He trusted her but it bothered him - but him acting like he’s sleeping with Tana shouldn’t bother a new girlfriend right? 🙄
-said he remembers the Australian girl and Morgan from the Bachelor but no one else
-I guess one of the girls is in law school and he said one of them would have to make a sacrifice to be close to the other and is wouldn’t be her if she’s in school - why he’s pretending like he’s move his entire life for a random girl he meets on this dumb dating show is so stupid
-some new girl asked what he likes to do in the bedroom and he said he’s not going to answer that - wtf is wrong with these new weirdo fans?
-said his life is so hard and he works so much - the lies he tells omg
-he got an infection in his mouth from cutting himself from his water pic, thought it was something worse
-someone said Cody is rotting Jeff’s brain and Jeff agreed
-asked if he’d put his kids on social media and said he’s not sure. His partner has a day in that so they’d have to decide - didn’t he say in the first Bachelor episode that the wife will have zero say in naming them and that he would only get to do that? I hope he was kidding but his change of tone was interesting.
-said he’s going to Miami for Suga Sean’s fight, I wonder if he’ll hang out with Mike and Sara? Last we saw Sara was pissed at Jeff and hasn’t been around him since. Will Mike choose her and Jeff be with other people?
Thanks!!

second BJJ class done.
I learned the name of the takedown we learned on Monday, it was called a near fall takedown. can’t find any videos of it, but I found a video that’s pretty close to one of the variations we did
I also did better at the warm ups today than I did Monday, though I was actually doing them correctly this time around so they were harder and I wasn’t able to do as many reps. thankfully, my instructor doesn’t call me out for not doing all the reps. my favorite warm up we do is called the caterpillar. you start standing up with your legs straight and use your hands to walk yourself down past push up position then tip toe your way back up.
today wasn’t a takedown day (booooo! I wanna throw people around EVERY day). we worked on passing open guard using bullfighter/toreando pass, transition to knee on belly which we worked on for a while and I was abysmal at, and then transitioning to side control from knee on belly. side control my fucking beloved. my legs are too short to do a proper knee on belly on bigger folks.
got absolutely smashed in our “stay on top/escape bottom” drills starting in side control. When my partner had me in side control I couldn’t do SHIT. I almost got out once. good enough for me. but damn, she’s strong. I had an equally hard time staying on top cause she would just roll me over immediately when I was in side control and I didn’t have time to change position. I was actually doing better against the more advanced guy. this girl is just wicked strong and I fear her. she also has hyper mobile joints so some submissions don’t work on her lmfao she’s a beast. respect.
I also got to roll with the instructor a couple times, well really we were movement drilling. i did well.
I didn’t do any open rolling today again bc I still don’t know any submissions or escapes so im not going to just jump in and get smashed yet. I probably should but im still too scared lmao. im the most beginner person in the class and im content just watching the open rolling tbh
BJJ is allowing me to come to terms with vulnerability head on. I’m not used to sticking with something that I feel bad at, normally I can’t stand it. I’m used to being unnaturally good for a beginner at stuff, or otherwise giving it up right away. But BJJ is pushing me. I can’t do all the warmups that we do before we start, even. But I put forth my best effort and yeah even though I feel a little insecure about not being great at it, my classmates and instructor are all very supportive. I love the atmosphere.
I’m actually not getting discouraged, I’m excited to be able to learn in a supportive environment. And _that_ is major growth for me. I don’t know how many times I’ve quit stuff I was really excited about because I didn’t meet my expectations, even in really supportive environments. The few things I have stuck through, I went through mental agony over not meeting my expectations.
I guess it helped that I went into this with low expectations for myself. Which is another sign of major growth. Im the king of unreasonable expectations for myself, just ask anyone who knows me well. I’m really grateful BJJ has been introduced into my life and it’s helping me in ways I didn’t even expect.

Kingz Athlete Spotlight: Sergio Rios
One of the most prolific Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors in the Master 1 divisions today is none other than Kingz athlete Sergio “Pichilinga” Rios. If you think you’ve seen him at all the events… you have. He is everywhere. Gi? No problem. No-Gi? Absolutely.  womens gi pants
And he’s not just there to compete… he’s there to win. Not only did Sergio absolutely dominate his weight division during the 2020 and 2021 competition seasons, but he also snagged several open class championships as well.
Here’s a look at some of his more notable achievements:
2020 IBJJF World Master – Gold Master 1 Medium-Heavy     2021 IBJJF World Ranking – #2 Ranked Master 1 Black Belt in the Gi     2021 AJP World Pro - #1 Ranked Master 1 Middleweight Black Belt     2021 IBJJF World Master – Silver Master 1 Medium-Heavy, Bronze in Open Class     2021 IBJJF World No-Gi – Double-gold Master 1 Medium-Heavy and Open Class     2021 IBJJF Pan Championship – Double-gold Master 1 Medium-Heavy and Open Class     2021 IBJJF Pan No-Gi – Gold Master 1 Medium-Heavy     2021 IBJJF American National – Double-gold Master 1 Medium-Heavy and Open Class     2021 IBJJF American National No-Gi – Gold Master 1 Medium-Heavy, Silver in Open Class
Despite being an absolute beast on the mat, Sergio is one of the most humble guys in the sport. We caught up with him to learn more about who he is and his philosophy on life:
How long have you been training, and how did you start?
Há quanto tempo você treina e por que começou?
I have have been training for 18 years. I started training because of my old brother who started training first, and when he was a purple belt I started training with him.
Eu treino a 18 anos. Comecei a treinar por conta do meu irmao mais velho, ele ja treinava e era faixa quando me levou para treinar com ele.
What are your goals for the year?
Quais são suas metas para o ano?
My next goal is the IBJJF European next month, after that will be Pan IBJJF in April.
Meu proximo desafio vai ser o Europeu da IBJJF, depois vou lutar o Pan em Abril. What has been your greatest accomplishment and why?
Qual foi sua maior realização e por quê?
It’s difficult to choose just one, but thinking now, I would say it was my last IBJJF when I won double-gold in the Master 1 division.
É difícil escolher um, mas pensando agora, posso dizer que foi o último IBJJF que só foi o grande peso e absoluto na categoria Master. What do you want your legacy to be?
Qual você quer que seja o seu legado?
I hope to be remembered for showing good jiu jitsu during competitions.
Espero ser lembrado por mostrar um bom Jiu Jitsu nas competições. Who is your role model and why?
Quem é o seu modelo e por quê?
My brother Junior and my first BJJ professor in Brazil Marcos. I have trained with them from white to black belt, so I always have looked up to them for how to be a good competitor and a good person.
Meu irmao Junior e meu professor no Brasil Marcos. Treinei com eles da faixa branca a faixa preta então sempre me espelhei neles a como ser um bom competidor e uma boa pessoa. What is your favorite quote and why?
Qual é a sua citação favorita e por quê?
“There is no losing in jiu jitsu. You either win or you learn.” I like this quote because it’s true. I feel like I learn more when I lose than when I win.
“Voce nao perde no Jiu Jitsu. Ou voce ganha ou voce aprende.” Gosto desta frase porque é verdade. Sinto que aprendo mais quando perco de que quando ganho. What advice do you give to those who look up to you?
Que conselho você dá para aqueles que se espelham em você?
Train hard with consistency and the good results will come.
Treine duro e com foco nos seus objetivos e os bons resultados virão. What does being a Kingz sponsored athlete mean to you?
O que significa para você ser um atleta patrocinado pela Kingz?
It is very important for me. It means that my hard work is being seen. I am grateful to be part of the Kings team, and I’ll work hard to represent them in the best way.
É muito importante pra mim. Significa que meu trabalho duro está sendo visto. Sou agradecido por fazer parte do time Kingz e vou trabalhar duro para representar bem a empresa.

Headlocks and Hammer-Fists: The Beginning of My Combat Sports Journey
Growing up, every Filipino kid wanted to be like Manny Pacquiao. My family ordered almost every single one of his fights live on pay-per-view since he fought Diaz and I have idolized him ever since. At the end of my senior year of high school, I took the first steps in training boxing at a local gym here in north county San Diego. Although I learned a lot at my first gym, training on and off for two years and getting better with each sparring session, I felt it was slightly restrictive. Boxing classes just seemed more geared toward fitness rather than combat. Although they had an advanced class, it was invite-only for those who wanted to compete in the amateurs. As this wasn't my goal, I had to find another gym and start again.
After one year of not training - partially because of a back injury I sustained while ego lifting - I had decided that it was time to make an effort to become healthy again. Around the same time, I decided this, I had become further entrenched in combat sports. I had been watching a lot of One Fight Championship, seeing living legends such as "Iron Man" Rodtang and "Stamp" Fairtex completely dominating their opponents in Muay Thai and Demetrious "Might Mouse" Johnson showcasing how his wrestling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills have made him the best MMA fighter in the world. Thanks to them, I decided to start training in Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu.
After searching all over north county San Diego for a new gym for a fresh start, I stumbled upon San Diego Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy's website. They had everything I needed: an amazing jiu-jitsu program, Muay Thai classes that were combat-focused, and boxing classes if I ever wanted to go back to the combat sport that was the beginning of my interest in combat sports. Not only that, but all of the coaches were friendly, understanding of beginners, and engaging. Although I have only just started at this gym, I know it is a gym that I will never want to leave. I get to enjoy Muay Thai sparring with my brother and I know that in my short time practicing BJJ I have learned a lot and I am more than excited to learn more.
While I do have experience in boxing, the one-year gap and weight gain I experienced took a toll on my general fitness and fighting ability. Also, while some of my boxing experience translates to Muay Thai, the stances and defense strategies are completely different. As for BJJ, I don't see how much if any of my boxing skills transfer at all. BJJ is a completely different beast. Fighting while standing and fighting on the ground are too different. When I boxed, I let one bad sparring experience - in which I was knocked out - define me, and it changed my attitude about how much I can exceed in the sport. Now, I'm ready to take losses and learn from them. I am, now more than ever, ready and willing to learn. For anyone reading this, I wholeheartedly invite you to follow me on my Muay Thai and BJJ journey.
Tumblr media
My brother and I after sparring during my first Muay Thai class. I have taken Muay Thai classes before, but I wouldn't consider myself anywhere near experienced.
Tumblr media
On my first day on the mats, one of the black belts instructed me on how to do three basic submissions: choke from the back, Americana from side control, and armbar. He also showed me how to hand fight against grips. I'm nowhere near mastering them, but have since trying to apply them in sparring.

Why has the demand for rash guards increased?
When you are out in the water, swim shirts or Beast Layer BJJ Rash Guard is an excellent way to shield from the sun and boost body coverage. While there are numerous great waterproof sunscreens and sunblocks, wearing a swim shirt or rash guard is the best method to properly restrict your exposure to the sun and avoid the continuous reapplication and stickiness of sunscreens. A swim shirt can protect your screen without weighing you down like a standard short or long-sleeved shirt, whether you're swimming laps at the local outdoor pool, going to the beach.
Active Beast Layer compression shirt producers have responded to the necessity for skin and sun protection tops made specifically for women throughout the years. With the increased awareness of the risk of skin cancer among active women who like the outdoors, they must select beach, surf, and swimwear that protect their skin from dangerous UVA and UVB radiation. The Beast Layer Rash Guard tops, designed for use in and out of the water, come in various styles and colors and are available in long and short sleeve varieties. They're made of quick-drying materials like polyester, Spandex, or thicker and cold-water-resistant neoprene.
Know the difference between a rash guard and a swim shirt
The BJJ rash guards fit the critical distinction between a swim shirt and a rash guard. Rash guards are more like water-ready compression shirts because they are built for surfing or other high-intensity water sports. On the other hand, Swim shirts are made to protect against UV radiation while also being comfy. In other words, your rash guard size will be smaller than your swim shirt size. As a result, you may prefer to wear a pool shirt or a sun shirt throughout town - but ultimately, it is a matter of personal preference. There are many options for BJJ Short. . Don't forget to bring your rash guard on your next beach, hiking, or pool vacation.
Is it better to buy a rash guard or a swim shirt?
Tumblr media
That is debatable. Both rash guards and swim shirts provide sun protection, so it depends on the level of activity you expect to engage in, the temperature of the water, and whether you want a compression shirt or not. Rash guards should be form-fitting to protect your skin from sun damage and to chafe while without slowing you down. Your normal size should be a little tighter than a regular shirt in a rash guard. Nothing, however, should be excessively tight. Make sure you have a complete range of motion in your arms when trying on rash guards.
Compression shorts may not suit those with specific medical issues, such as malnourished older folks. If there is broken or injured skin in the area, they may not be safe to wear. Anyone who has a pre-existing health condition, especially skin or circulatory ailment, unsure about the risks of compression garments should consult a physician before purchasing.
