oh yeah don’t mind me i’m just thinking about how blue and gansey are technically the main characters of this story but it’s still not entirely about them and how ronan isn’t the hero of this story but he is the hero of a story that branches off from it and how adam would’ve been the villain in a worse version of the story but he had too much loyalty to the narrative to let his friends go and how the story could never be about noah but it also could never be about anyone except for noah

What I like about Adam Parrish and Ronan Lynch is that they have so much potential for the grumpy and sunshine dynamic except instead they’re just both grumpy and the role of sunshine just falls on whichever one of them happens to be slightly more mentally/emotionally stable at the time which changes every 15-30 seconds

Things I need in a currently nonexistent raven cycle adaptation: (Gansey)

1. The middle part flow haircut but like longer because that is the “not like other girls” of the preppy boy haircuts and Gansey is not like other preppy boys

2. Ik he wears all those brightly colored polos but keep in mind, he’s been everywhere, he probably has so many souvenir sweatshirts—picture extremely tired Gansey, just threw on an oversized crew neck from like Wales or Singapore or some other place he’s been LIKE—and you know he wears those so people ask him about all the places he’s been

3. He has the newest iPhone. We love that he likes vintage things but a block of a phone is not going to help him find Glendower the way an iPhone 37 and a half will. Plus, imagine Adam’s face in every scene when Gansey has to check the time with a thousand dollars worth of capitalist propaganda

4. Acting wise, he is always looking up. At the stars, at the trees, at the future. The most prominent expression on his face is WONDER. I can envision so many scenes where he just turns to Blue or Adam with this wide-eyed excitement, and suddenly everyone else in the room is excited too. Just AAAH

5. Adam says, “Ronan and Gansey were laughing at a joke where the rest of the world was the punch line” when he’s talking about how cruel he thought Gansey was. I want a flashback of Gansey and Ronan being those best friends at the back table that came in late because they couldn’t stop giggling and now they won’t stop smirking at the teacher, and then Adam’s just at the front trying not to break his pencil in half

6. Ok imagine this: close up of Gansey, hands behind his head, glasses half sliding down his face. He looks asleep, but he definitely isn’t. The screen is relatively dark, tinted blue. He has AirPods in, and we hear muffled Phoebe Bridgers or Lizzy McAlpine or some other sad, wistful female artist BC GANSEY IS A SAD WISTFUL FEMALE ARTIST ON THE INSIDE. The music starts crescendoing, then there’s this loud screech over top of everything and Gansey’s eyes snap open and then we’re catapulted into the “what fresh hell is this?” scene

Um. *clears throat* Anyway.

the “glendower was dead, had always been dead, and gansey kind of wanted to live” line has such a double meaning because on one hand we learn that the glendower who whispered to gansey was noah all along so the line is actually talking about noah, not glendower. but also gansey was going to wish noah back to life despite knowing that gansey himself was going to die in the next year. and then in the end noah gives up his life and afterlife so that gansey can live. noah was dead, had always been dead, but at least he made it so that gansey could live

ronan and adam know each other so well and are so comfortable with each other like what in the actual best-friends-to-lovers is this

If Ronan had been there, he would have said, Everywhere’s a crime scene.

It would have been easy enough for Ronan to do it himself, but perhaps he had known that Adam would like the mind-occupying puzzle of it.

“Democracy’s a farce,” Ronan said, and Adam smirked, a private, small thing that was inherently exclusionary. An expression, in fact, that he could’ve very well learned from Ronan.

“Some.” “A lot,” Ronan translated, and he was right, because, strangely enough, Ronan knew a great deal about how Adam worked.

As Gansey shut the door behind him, he heard Adam say, “I don’t want to talk,” and Ronan reply, “The fuck would I talk about?"

Slowly his memories of before – everything this place had been to him when it had held the entire Lynch family – were being overlapped with memories and hopes of after – every minute that the Barns had been his, all of the time he’d spent here alone or with Adam, dreaming and scheming.

That night, not long after he returned from work, Adam heard a knock at his church apartment door. When he answered it, he was first surprised that the person on the other side was real, and then he was surprised that the person was Gansey and not Ronan.
