I just realised I never posted this! Here’s my mechsona, lifeboat Jon :3
Some clarification because I made this when I didn’t know a lot about the mechs:
-> is in a qpr with Tim, Jonny and Brian, Ashes and Marius.
-> joins while hnoc events are occurring (while Brian is away)
-> is a cannibal like jonny and they eat people together (how romantic 💖 /s)
-> hair is dyed by ivy and they are quite close!
ID: a digital drawing of my mechsona, Lifeboat Jon. Blood has light pink skin, with dyed red hair. Fang is wearing a cream top with red ribbon throughout, a crimson vest with purple edges and yellow ribbon holding it together, a long violet skirt dirtied with mud at the bottom, and black shoes. Vamps elbows are replaced with metal parts, which connect to elbow crutches, of which vamp is holding. Bat has a red eyes, pointy ears, fangs, a lot of face and ear piercings and lots of beauty spots. Blood also has a monocle. The flags next to Lifeboat Jon’s name are the aro, ace, polyamorous, bear brotherhood, transmasc, autigender, vampgender, and steampunkic. Fangs pronouns are bat/vamp/fang/blood. Blood has hypermobile ehlers-danlos syndrome and is autistic. There is a list of character and backstory notes. 1) is a vampire. 2) literally a fucking prick. 3) is the most recent mech to be mechanised by dr. carmilla. 4) mechanism: joints (elbows, knees, and spine) and crutches (which are permanently connected to fangs elbows). 5) does vocals. 6) very silly (autistic). 7) is kinda hated by jonny because of similar names and just general spite. 8) is in a qpr with Tim and jonny (despite their hatred for each other). 9) helps ivy in the archives, but other than that, just dicks around. 10) comfort item is a bat plushie that Tim got vamp when the crew [was] visiting earth (blood literally has no idea what a bat is but loves it). 11) used to be really nice and happy before the 600 years on the lifeboat (though sometimes that niceness peaks through when bat is with bats qpps and friends). 12) gets very angry at octokittens. 13) loved listening to the mechs past albums from before vamp joined them.
Full backstory:
Jon was once a nice guy, and worked as an archivist and cartographer upon a ship sailing across an endless sea on an unnamed planet. The ship fang was on found another ship, of which housed only one, Dr Carmilla. She stayed on jons ship for a while, sharing stories of her doctoring and medical history. Jon went to her one day about joint pain (of which vamp had had all of vamps life), and instead of usual medical procedures, vamp was mechanised. It was exciting for a while, being immortal, until a year after Carmilla had left the ship. Long story short, it sunk. Everyone else within the ship, Jon’s friends and qpps had died, and Jon was left swimming, and sinking, and drowning alone for a couple months, before making it to the bottom of the ocean and managing to get a lifeboat out of it. Fang was stuck floating on that lifeboat for six hundred years; starving and drowning and falling and dehydrating, but not once dying. Bat grew bitter over this time, losing that sense of wonder bat once had. Blood was eventually found by the mechanisms, who had made a small stop at this water filled planet because some of the mechs wanted to go swimming. Vamp found vamps new home aboard the Aurora, growing close with very few. Blood was closed off, especially for the first few decades, but eventually starts to open up, forming close relationships with Tim, Marius, Ashes, Brian and Jonny, and a few others in different ways. Bat is still rough and spiky and mean, but can occasionally be quite nice, once you spend a couple hundred years with bat.

Another set of (Warrior) cat designs for Mechanisms characters! This has characters from Tales Be Told (vol. I & II) and the fiction (namely “Cyberian Demons”, “The Story of the Toy Soldier”, and those involving Aurora).
In order of left to right in each row, the designs are for: Dr. Carmilla, The Aurora, the Angel, Bertie, the Moon Kaiser, Smooth Mickey, Billy Vangelis, One-Eyed Jack, and the Cyberian Czar.
All of the drawings started with the same base, then edited for fur lengths, scars, and expressions.
See below the read more for image descriptions and some notes on each design! Be warned, it’s a lot of text.
[Also uploaded to DeviantART]
[Image set ID: A set of nine digitally drawn headshots of cats. The features and edges of each is lined with black, while their markings are lineless. /End ID.]
[Image 1 description: A drawing of Dr. Carmilla as a cat with desaturated red fur (best described as coral, wine, and light plum). She’s smiling with teeth, and her upper canines extend out of her mouth. She has dark tabby, under eye, nose bridge, and false eye markings (on ears). Her inner ears, the area around her muzzle, and a small area bordering her forehead markings are lighter in color. Dr. Carmilla’s eyes are a dark red-brown, and her pupils are thin. Her pupil color matches the black of her nose. The under eye markings have three points, which nearly meet stripes extending from her cheek fur (which is of short-medium length). /End description.]
[Image 2 description: A drawing of The Aurora as a cat with moderate blue-grey fur (best described as shades of slate). She has a neutral smile. She has darker colored sparse tabby markings, nose bridge, over-eye markings (smooth hoods), and false eyes (on ears). Her inner ears, chin, and the center of her forehead markings are lighter in color. Aurora’s eyes are a vibrant blue, with dark blue-grey pupils matching her nose. She has moderately long cheek fur, and tufts at the tips of her ears. /End description.]
[Image 3 description: A drawing of the Angel as a cat with light yellow-ish fur (best described as yellow-leaning tan, sand dollar, and brown-grey). They have a neutral smile. They have dark tabby markings, nose bridge, and eye spots, and false eyes (on ears). The nose bridge and eye spots are connected, and their cheek stripes reach all the way to their eyes. Their inner ears, chin, and between the cheek stripes are lighter in color. The Angel’s eyes are pale blue with light grey (blind) pupils. Their nose is black, and they have fairly long cheek fur. /End description.]
[Image 4 description: A drawing of Bertie as a cat with bronze fur (best described as walnut, caramel, and amber). He has a neutral smile. He has dark ear tips, above-eye markings, under-eye markings, dorsal stripe (ends above eyes), partial muzzle markings, and cheeks. His inner ears, the rest of his muzzle, most of his forehead, and part of his ears are lighter in color. Bertie’s eyes are a moderate green with black pupils that match his nose. His left eye has sectoral heterochromia - a dull yellow spot in the upper center, and his cheek fur is short but fluffy. His right ear tip has a V-shaped chunk missing. /End description.]
[Image 5 description: A drawing of the Moon Kaiser as a cat with a desaturated calico fur pattern (wood brown, light orange, and cream). He has a sinister smile. His markings have jagged, frayed-looking edges. The calico patches are asymmetric, with most of the orange on his left side and most of the brown on his right. The Moon Kaiser’s eyes are yellow with dark, warm grey pupils matching his nose. He has long, scraggly cheek fur, as well as overgrown inner ear fur. His left ear is missing its upper half. /End description.]
[Image 6 description: A drawing of Smooth Mickey as a cat with golden-brown fur (best described as mocha, dark copper, and sepia). He has a sinister smile. He has dark tabby markings, including cheek stripes that extend to the bottom of his eyes and around the inner edge into his eye dot markings. This ear tips and part of his nose bridge are also dark. His inner ears, part of the nose bridge, between the cheek stripes, and the center of his forehead marking are lighter in color. Smooth Mickey’s eyes are copper green, with black pupils matching his nose. His cheek fur is short but fluffy, and his right ear has a round chunk taken out of the inner edge. /End description.]
[Image 7 description: A drawing of Billy Vangelis as a cat with green-grey fur (best described as dove, charcoal, and dust). He’s frowning, and seems rather sad or resigned. He has dark tabby markings, nose bridge, borders of the muzzle, around his ears (creating false eyes), and above his eyes (covering most of his forehead). His inner ears, chin, between the eyes, and gaps in his cheek stripes are lighter in color. Billy’s eyes are a moderate grey, with black pupils matching his nose. His cheek fur is short but fluffy. /End description.]
[Image 8 description: A drawing of One-Eyed Jack as a cat with brown fur (best described as pinecone, brown-leaning rock, and brown-leaning oyster). He’s baring his teeth in a grin. He has dark tabby markings, false eyes (on ears), eye dots, slight over-eye markings, nose bridge, mustache, and part of his chin. His inner ears, between cheek stripes, and the rest of his chin are lighter in color. Jack’s has only one eye (the right), which is a vibrant yellow with a black pupil matching his nose. His other eye is an empty socket with two scars crossing over it - both the socket and the scars are a desaturated reddish color (with the socket being darker). /End description.]
[Image 9 description: A drawing of the Cyberian Czar as a cat with light blue-grey fur (best described as swan, smoke, and lavender grey). He’s frowning. He has a points-like coloration, with his face and ears (which have false eyes) being darker than his main body. He has darker under-eye markings, nose bridge, and ear edges. The eye markings extend downward as though they would flow into stripes without the cut-off of the mask marking. The Czar’s eyes are a moderate blue, with black pupils matching his nose. He has very long cheek fur. /End description.]
Some notes on the designs’ details:
I tried to make Dr. Carmilla’s eye and cheek markings match/mimic her makeup. Not sure if it worked, but it looks good enough to me, so
Aurora’s forehead stripe is meant to look like the... well, like herself, in ship form (as depicted on the TBT albums’ covers).
Bertie’s markings are meant to be reminiscent of a Greek soldier’s helmet
Also the heterochromia isn’t there for any reason, it just felt right
I just went ham with the Moon Kaiser’s design - I wasn’t sure what I wanted him to look like, but this sort of... scraggly, asymmetric look works well enough in my eyes
Though this design was mostly just going for what felt right without any planning, I did intentionally make his ears uneven as a nod to the line “The Kaiser just smiled, with his crown all askew” (the uneven-ness being close enough to an askew crown)
Smooth Mickey’s under-eye markings are sevens
Billy’s design is meant to be similar to Jonny’s for obvious reasons
The Czar’s design is meant to be similar to Nastya’s - again, for obvious reasons

an artificial family  💉 💀
i had doodled this idea in a corner of a notebook months ago and was very happy to finally work on it for real, i adore working on more minimalistic styles! plus i really wanted to make a loving homage to the mechs, i came late to the party but they’ve offered so much solace in the last year. and the character designs they built for themselves are irresistible, so of course i’d want to try my hand at some sort of lineup or group picture, and i’m very happy with the result  💙 i went through a lot of ideas for a more colorful background but in the end nearly white really was what looked best... i guess the figures work well by themselves.
i’d say raph was the one i was most excited to draw, i saved her for last and to me, her and carmilla are like the stars of the composition! i’m also REALLY happy with how nastya, marius and ts came out and i want to kiss them a lot. hope you like it as much as i enjoyed making it! :33 i like these enough to post them individually too and am possibly going to print them as stickers for myself at some point -that got me thinking that if anyone wanted to do the same or use these as icons or blog stuff, i’d be happy to share the hi-res files, so let me know what you think n.n
edit: you got it, friends! here’s the post with each mech individually as well as the info and link to download the files and get your own mechs thingies!
[ID: a digital illustration of doctor carmilla and the mechanisms, donde in a flat-colored, sharp, minimalistic style. the background is a light cream color a few lines of light coming from behind the group. on the bottom of the image, below the figures, is written ‘’dr. carmilla & the mechanisms’’. the group is arranged in a triangle, with carmilla sitting at the front and center. brian and jonny come from behind her seat to her right, while tim and ashes do the same to her left. behind her nastya and ivy stand nearly back to back. the cusp of the triangle is made up from marius and the toy soldier to the left and right, and raphaella in the center a ways above. carmilla looks to us, everyone else save for marius and the toy soldier, who have their eyes closed, look at her. everyone’s faces save for raph’s are in a sharp profile, and the only features drawn are eyes and noses.
carmilla is sitting on a small throne with her legs to the right, not quite crossed, her left hand on her lap and her right on top of her ukelele, which she holds upright against the floor. brian is to her right coming from behind the chair, standing very hunched over, holding a drumstick in each hand. behind him, jonny stands leaning towards his front, with his gun pointing up. on the other side, tim comes from behind carmilla, also hunched over, holding his guitar pointing diagonally downwards. behind him, ashes stands upright with a hand on their pocket and the other holding a lit lighter up. their expression is less wary than that of brian, tim or jonny. behind carmilla and between jonny and ashes are nastya to our left, and ivy to our right. nastya stands with her back to us, looking over her shoulder with narrowed eyes at carmilla. ivy is also with her back to us, holding a book over her hip with her left hand, and with her right in a shushing motion near her face. next are marius and the toy soldier behind them, marius to our left and ts to our right, both posing similarly: they stand on one leg, like in a happy jump, and have their outer arm lifted high and their inner arm near their faces. their eyes are happily closed, marius’s left arm is adjustingthe monocle on the non-visible side of his face, and the toy soldier’s right hand goes to their forehead in a salute. lastly is raphaella behind and slightly above them, her wings splayed wide. her hair is floating wildly to the sides, she’s standing upright with her hands behind her back, looking straight down at carmilla. she’s the only figure shown fully frontal. end ID]

Day 31: Your Toon/Toons
The grand finale! all of the toon oc’s i’ve made so far!!
Info about em all below the cut!
The Green ducko you see right there is Big N. Chunky, a duck with ominous abilities. And when i say ominous i mean it, she has the tendency to cause weird things to happen. Sometimes she vanishes out of thin air and other times she just appears right behind you like a horror jumpscare. She’s strange... but really chill so don’t fear her
Right on Chunky’s bottom right is Dr. Von Hulasong. A happy go lucky horse doctor who follows the quote: “Laughter is the best medicine” to literal means. He loves helping toons and on rare occasions cogs. He doesn’t like picking sides because he sees goodness in everything
That pirate cat right there is Pegleg Petra. She’s a fighter, a public enemy of Cog Nation, and a Robin Hood type of person. She used to be a sailor but after many unfortunate events including her boat getting robbed by Cogs and losing her leg and tail to them she became a pirate. Nowadays she wanders around Cog HQ’s stealing the gags back and helping Toons she can find.
The Silkie Chicken on the right most corner is Rob O. Tics. They’re an inventor who wants to help toonkind with their creations. They have a huge fascination with cogs and that’s because they were friends with Trolleybots. Unfortunately, their Trolleybot friend went missing on a mission on Lawbot HQ. Despite the unfortunate events in their life, they won’t let it stop them from reaching their goals.
The Albino bat is Carmilla Apple. She’s a storeowner/baker who lives on TTC. She just wants to chill and have fun but Cogs keep invading her store and handing her over to the VP. Even if this constantly irritates her, she wouldn’t let it stop her from helping Toons on their tasks or if they need her help on dire situations. That’s just a part of her optimistic and helpful nature.
That sly lookin fox is said to be named Felix Foulfellow. A self proclaimed “Son of Honest John” (although that’s probably a lie). Hailing from Doodlevania, he arrived on Toontown after an escape from law enforcement due to a scam gone wrong. Upon hearing that Toontown has a Cog problem, he tried to escape multiple times to not bear that responsibility. But he can’t, there’s something in him that just yells at him to help these poor folks on Toontown. So now he’s just a reluctant Toontown citizen and one of Cog nation’s public enemy.
The lil kiwi girl on the upper right or Felix is Kimmy The Kiwi. A young kid who wants to fight the cogs. Her family migrated from the outbacks to Toontown to help them out on their fight against Cog nation. Even though her parents bust cogs on a daily basis, they would never allow her to fight because it’s too dangerous. But that won’t stop her from trying to use a squirt flower on a lvl 10 Big Cheese on an invasion. She’s a lil confused but she got the spirit.
The last but definitely the least (in kindness) is this old school Toon named Sweetie N. Sour. She moved to Toontown on 1921 as a poor little orphan who needs a home. But when she began living there, Toons left and right got greened without any leads to who must’ve caused it. That was until Christmas where she was caught attempting to green Santa Claus. This sparked an outrage and a wild goose chase which ended with her standing on the frozen pond. Unfortunately, the ice was thin so she fell into it. After 90 spiteful years of being in the bottom of the ocean stuck in a block of ice, she was fished out and shocked at what Toontown has become. She absolutely hated it, she hates how happy and colorful it has become. Upon hearing about Cog Nation’s existence, she immediately went into Lawbot HQ and never came back. She loved it’s dullness and its lack of positivity. It reminds her of the good ol days when she greened toons. So she decided to dress up as a cog and continued on her greening spree.

A bunch of superhero rp characters form the last few months - + one of my boyfriend’s. Heroes, villains, hero villains, a elder god....
Quick character blips under the cut-
From to left to bottom right-
Eldritch, aka Sam - Devon’s Hero - a ~18 yo NB who’s power is that they are actually an octopus basically. They use the power of changing texture and color + their tentacle’s flexibility to look (mostly) human.
Dracula, aka Valentin Virgil - Shared villain w/Devon - May very well be the famed monster despite general jokes. Has blood-based powers that allow him to temporarily steal vitality and powers from others, but there may be more to it...
Nightfish, aka Auberon Blackwood - A late 30′s scientist villain who works at Parallel - a contract villain company secretly run by Dacula. She has the ability to turn into a monstrous fishthing.
Dr. Hyde, aka Dr. Godfrey Linwood - The 45 yo party dad. Has the ability to use Crazy Diamond return things back to their previous state. Party healer, dad, and University of Washington professor. Created Mr. Jekyll on accident, though has since been ‘split’ from him. Dr. Frankenstein’s ex-husband, tho they’re dating again now!
The Ouroboros, aka Artiteng’h - a high ranking eldritch entity freed with the help of the heroes and Xaeh’las. A infinite snake-thing eating itself that would destroy the world if it were fully summoned, because it takes up all the space available to it. Currently inhabiting the body of the Greek God Apollo. Has the ability to remove powers, grant powers, or alter powers.
Xaeh’las - The 21 yo Atlantian Princess who escaped to the surface with the help of Ouroboros and a mysterious eldritch Book. Currently taken in by a drug dealer and a serial killer. Very, very confused by the surface world, but trying her best! Technically has the power of Being A Fish Person, like the rest of her ‘merfolk’ people.
Dr. Frankenstein, aka Dr. Viktor Shroder - Godfrey’s 42 yo ex-husband. A mad scientist who works for Parallel as well, who has the power to animate the dead. Specializes in making chimeras and other monsters of dead parts before animating them again. A contract villain who is very, very good at avoiding getting into legal trouble.
Carmilla, aka Fuyuko Charbonnaeu - The 20-something daughter of a French vacation tycoon, who’s run away to the city of New Olympia, WA, to live her Bad Girl life. Runs a bar and has the ability to create blood weapons, which she uses when she’s hired by the city’s More Serious Villains to do work.
Mr. Jekyll, aka Fletcher Varner - Godfrey’s other half. Has the power to cause rapid degradation and entropy around him - which, unfortunately, includes himself. Was created when Godfrey decided to self experiment with a serum for flipping one’s power. Now is able to fully turn off his power thanks to another character, and thanks to another another character was split from Godfrey. Team jackass.
St. Helens, aka Ji-Won Moon - A 33 yo escaped child soldier who was taken in by the heroes despite some of the questionable things she’s done. Wants to be a hero deep down, and is working on recovering from a life of abuse. Has the ability to superheat / flash boil things, and often uses a plague doctor-shaped gas mask with her outfit so she can use smoke bombs and tear gas.0

Castlevania season 2 thoughts
TL;DR It’s somehow too long yet too short at the same time.
Spoilers ahoy
In three words: Too many flashbacks. In four: Too many unnecessary flashbacks. What could’ve been compressed into 3-4 episodes has instead stretched into 8 which considerably damages the pacing. We already know what happened to Lisa so a flashback in her point of view is meaningless (unless you’re starting Castlevania on season 2 and well... why would you start a show at season 2?), I didn’t care or know enough about Hector himself to want a flashback from him when Carmilla asks how he joined Dracula (and the way it was inserted was awkward anyway. The brief flashback of his parents scorning him as he stared into the fire would’ve been enough because it very cleanly tells viewers why he joined Dracula), and the same goes for Isaac’s flashback. I don’t understand the attention given to Godbrand when all the other generals were left as background mooks with no personality and thus ill-defined powers when they fought the trio and Godbrand dies in the end anyway without achieving anything important. What was even the point of him? Dracula’s flashback of massacring the people who offended him was... pointless. Carmilla’s flashback is perhaps the only one that’s okay because it adds something to her character while remaining short and sweet.
I think the show was trying to characterize everyone through the flashbacks but you don’t need flashbacks to characterize characters. It could just be shown through actions and dialogue. After all, if they could illustrate Trevor’s melancholy and rediscovery and his family’s past glory when the trio visit the Belmont manor in a way that is poignant but doesn’t use flashbacks (which I can only be grateful for), they could darn well illustrate anything else using similar methods just as well.
Meanwhile, the trio sort of flounders around the Belmont library for several episodes expositing to each other what Alucard and Trevor’s issues are while Dracula sits around in his study and talks to people there. Nothing is being done while flashbacks parade one after another. Carmilla feels like the only active agent with an actual plan and ambition and the only spot of color where every other character feels like they’re only listlessly going through the motions.
And then it literally takes only one library trip to defeat Dracula. Props to Sypha for being powerful enough to drag the castle to her, but it only makes me question the limits to her powers, if they even exist. She didn’t even need to take a breather after all that effort where she was struggling and sweating and then almost immediately after, she can summon an ice elevator and fight vampires. I think it’s one of the problems this show has: setting the characters’ limits. What can’t they do? Trevor fights with unlimited stamina. I’ve never seen him lose his strength throughout any battles. Sypha can apparently use magic endlessly with no consequences. At least Alucard has the excuse of being half-vampire and is actually shown to be completely pummeled during his fight with Dracula. In fact, Dracula’s fight was the only thing that put into perspective how utterly outmatched these three were for the first time and even then, Alucard ended up fighting him alone despite announcing he has companions to help him this time.
This season has the problem of both being too long and too rushed. Too much time wasted on flashbacks and the Belmont library and the vampires’ discontent which wasn’t really shown or resolved in any satisfying way, too little time spent developing any of the characters and the trio’s new group dynamics (learning to work together and trust each other) and on Dracula’s plans.
This season would’ve benefited from character exploration: have the trio stop and help a few villages or random people, introduce the new characters, start working in Carmilla’s schemes while also moving along with Dracula’s plans so he’s not just moping in his study all the time. Instead, this season tried to do everything at once and ended up doing a sloppy job.
As a result, in the space of only one night, Dracula is defeated. Dracula, who’s supposed to be incredibly powerful; the last boss. Now I’m worried about the future of this show. Without a final boss to overcome and test the limits and bonds of each character, this show runs the risk of being aimless. Sure, there’s loose ends such as Isaac and Carmilla, but I’ve seen what happened with Korra and the “villain of the season” and it didn’t work out so well because it didn’t present a united theme. Korra ended up being whatever the plot needed her to be and I’m worried this is going to be what happens to these characters. If Dracula was still on the table as the final boss, we could see the characters slowly working out their issues instead of having Sypha say “you’re better now!” at the end and Trevor just agreeing. It’s nice and it’s sweet, but it feels somewhat unearned since (and maybe I’m blind but) Trevor didn’t go through any trials or decisions to test his character (beyond the first season he reclaims his Belmont heritage and I really don’t think that’s enough to resolve all his other issues underneath) or go through any self-revelation that I can see beyond Alucard telling him to knock the shit out and decide what he wants to do when the monsters were barging in.
I would’ve loved an adventure to defeat Dracula where the trio thwarts off invasions, learn to travel with one another, try to come up with a plan with each other, meeting the generals and perhaps being outclassed by them and then having them become determined to be better, slowly learn about themselves and each other, helping each other out of their problems, sniffing out a whiff of Carmilla’s schemes, having her as the second to last boss enemy, and then finally, having everything accumulate to the moment they arrive at Dracula. But I suppose that’s only one way of doing things. The only way to find out where this story goes is in the next season and I’m hoping it’s not nearly as long-rushed as this one.
Still, for all my criticisms, I really enjoyed the fights. They were exciting, well-choreographed, and smooth. The emotional bits were done really well too. Dracula’s realization that he’s killing his own son was sorrowful, but what especially broke my heart was when Alucard sat down and finally processed everything that happened to his parents and to him and just broke down from it all.
I also started feeling worried for Hector because at this point, I know he loves animals and he is kind in his own way and seeing him chained up and forced to work as a slave for the woman who tricked him is kind of distressing. Given that humans hate him for his work and the vampires are going to treat him like a pet, Hector’s situation is rock bottom, to say the least.
Anyway, let’s see what happens season 3. Season 2 doesn’t exactly have me as hyped as season 1 got me for 2, but I’m cautiously excited to see where all this goes.
