Idk why but deadpool 3 already feels like another rehash with captain america civil war. It feels like they didn't bring back Domino just so they can make room for wolverine. Its even annoying that they brought back some random white guy named Peter, someone from the 3rd x men film and Jennifer garner as elektra but not Domino. If they could make room for those guys, they could've made room for Domino

I can't help but agree with you. Domino was a great addition to the team in Deadpool 2, which White guy Peter was barely in and didn't serve anything but quick comical relief. If he was in Deadpool 3 for the same reason, then okay, but not at the expense of Domino. 🙅🏾‍♀️

Garner as Elektra is something I cannot wrap my head around the decision-making for that. Was Elodie Yung not available??? She's still alive, and as far as I know, she hasn't said she didn't want to return as Elektra

I have only a few wishes in this daredevil rewrite

one, they bring back Karen and Foggy because why were they axed in the first place

two, they add more diverse characters because as much I love the Netflix series, just about every single character of color either disappeared, was an antagonist, or died violently.

three, jen has to come in for a cameo fuck it or the whole show I loved she hulk

four, they keep that three piece suit matt was in during the daredevil born again shoot cause he looked so fucking good

five, lets these actors TALK. I love the fight scenes, they are fantastic but some of the best scenes in daredevil are the ones where characters are just sitting, talking, or arguing. I understand that maybe too much legal drama can be boring but I don't want to sit through six episodes of hallway fights to music

six, that they ignore the idiots who call everything that isn't a white man yelling at cardboard woke. we don't need to appease them in any way shape or form.

seven, they either fix the elektra problem or don't bring her in at all because elektra always ends up being uneven and Elodie Yung was really good

These are in no particular order and I am about to absolutely GUSH about my little meow meows (some of them committed crimes so the fuck what) so, putting this under a cut.

1: Elektra Natchios

Alright, so I know most of the Daredevil fandom doesn't see eye to eye with me on this one, but HEAR ME OUT. Until I started reading the comics, I too thought she was just Matt's mean ex girlfriend that came to town to wreck shop, but she is so much more than that. She's an orphan. She's not seen as a human being, but a weapon. All she knows is to kill or be killed. She's a survivor, and she's incredibly self aware. One of my favorite arcs is when she becomes Daredevil in the Zdarsky run and she takes another orphan under her wing as a sort of apprentice, but the girl ends up running away, and Elektra thinks "maybe it's better this way because I'm poison". I didn't think I could cry at comic books, but Elektra just makes me feel all the feelings. Also, Elodie Yung is MY Elektra. I don't even recognize Jennifer Garner as Elektra.

2: Matt Murdock

My DARLING disaster Catholic lawyer vigilante. Oh, he's got a savior complex deeper than the Mariana Trench, but I just wanna cuddle him and stitch up his wounds and tell him it's gonna be okay.

3: Shiv Roy

SHIV DID NOTHING WRONG. She was never going to be given a seat at the table so she had to take it by force. She's just trying to play the game in the world her daddy created. Yeah she's a tough boss bitch on the outside, but she is deeply flawed and she feels just as deeply. I SOBBED at the scene when she reverted back to being a scared little girl when talking on the phone to her dying father. Give Sarah Snook all the Emmys.

4: Gwen Stacy

My blog handle isn't "theradioactivespidergwen" for nothing. Honestly, the Earth-65 Spider Gwen comics are my favorite. I love Gwen so much. She's a drummer, she's a superhero, she's a daddy's girl, she's deeply misunderstood, she's EVERYTHING. I could honestly talk about my dear "Gwenzelle" all day, but I shall refrain.

5: Kate Bishop

Y'all should have heard the SCREAM I scrumpt when I heard that they were bringing my girl Kate into the Hawkeye series! The Avengers' best annoying little sister. I hope to see more of her and I hope that she takes up the Hawkeye mantle from Clint in the MCU.

6: Amy Santiago

Yeah, ACAB and all that, but I have never been so seen in my life in a character. Just, the awkward nerdiness, the need to prove herself to the boys, and the absolute mega type A personality. I like to think I'm Rosa Diaz, but I'm actually Amy Santiago.

7: April Ludgate

8: Tina Belcher

How can you not love Tina?! I will not hear any Tina slander, NONE.

Another disaster vigilante. He's driven by revenge, but he's still got a soft side. He's a protector at heart, and he loves animals.

10: Lestat de Lioncourt

So, I fell in love with the 1994 movie adaptation, and I attempted to read the books at one point, but life happened. I recently finished the IWTV series on AMC, and Sam Reid's take is just SUPERB. I love that this version delved into the hurt he's endured over his long lifetime, and that there is a reason for his madness. There usually is, but this is nice to see.

We all know the rumours about Elektra’s actor, Elodie Yung, being replaced by Eiza González. I’m firmly against replacing Elodie (she’s MY elektra) but i also think they don’t actually need one for the new Daredevil.

they don’t NEED to bring back Elektra, in any form, for at least the first season (hopefully one of many) of the soft DD reboot. Disney plus has an issue with trying to fit too many characters and plot lines into their tiny little 6-ep format and it DOESNT WORK.

Plot lines are often forgotten, or tied up too predictably, or too quickly with LITTLE ROOM FOR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND EXPLORATIONS OF ACTUAL MOTIVATIONS.

there is a reason netflix only introduced her in season 2, even with their much longer format 13-episode seasons. if u introduce all the characters at once it’s too much !!!!! Charlie said himself about the original Daredevil movie - they were trying to do too much. I have a feeling Disney Plus may fall into that same trap it often does. Ultimately, that brings down the quality of the entire thing.

So, no. DONT REPLACE ELEKTRA PLS. but bring back Elodie Yung LATER. once we have time to actually establish Daredevil’s place in the mcu. thank you for your time.

THOUGHTS ON “DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN”

Now that I’ve had a few days to let the good news sink in:

OMG!!! EIGHTEEN EPISODES!!! CHARLIE COX!!! VINCENT D’ONOFRIO!!!

OK, I’ve gotten that off my chest.

I am cautiously optimistic that TPTB at Disney/Marvel understand the concept of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

I tend to doubt that “Born Again” means they’re doing a version of the “Born Again” story from the comics. As has already been said by many others, that was done in season 3. My guess is that “Born Again” is simply a reference to the fact that the series and the character are coming back. It’s also possible that Matt/DD was snapped and has come back.

Elden Henson needs to come back as Foggy, and Deborah Ann Woll needs to come back as Karen, along with as many of the original supporting cast as they can bring back: Amy Rutberg as Marci, Joanne Whalley as Sister Maggie, Royce Johnson as Brett, Geoffrey Cantor as Ellison, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa, to name a few. I would love to see Wilson Bethel come back as Dex/Bullseye, too.

The character of Elektra poses a dilemma, in more ways than one. Elodie Yung was great in the role and fully deserves to come back, but she has her own TV series now and may not be available. I would not want the new series to be delayed because they were waiting for her to be available. If they are writing a different and better-written version of Elektra than the version that appeared in the Netflix series (something I would not be averse to), perhaps recasting the character would work. Or maybe Elektra doesn’t have to appear in season one at all; perhaps she could show up for season two, when Elodie Yung’s availability might not be an issue.

Please bring back as many of the amazing stunt crew from the Netflix series as possible – especially Chris Brewster – and limit the CGI to what is strictly necessary.

I don’t care what suit DD is wearing as long as Charlie Cox and Chris Brewster are wearing it.

Full employment for Charlie Cox is a good thing.

Oh, how could I forget. You’re *absolutely* right about Daredevil. Charlie Cox was magnificent in the role. And it’s going to have 18 episodes as well. What a massive project for his full return. I’ll be rooting for this one just as much as I do for guardians right now. Do we know anything about returning cast? Foggy was great as well, and Elektra had such great chemistry with Matt. Well, pretty much all supporting cast was lovely, now that I think about it. 😄

the only returning cast we have confirmed aside from charlie cox is vincent d'onofrio as wilson fisk, but i heard rumors that elden henson (foggy) has signed on. i hope deborah ann woll (karen) is back, too, but i haven't heard anything for her yet; we'll probably get a better idea of the returning cast when they start filming, which is in late february!

definitely crossing my fingers; i think the supporting cast from the prior series, especially foggy and karen, is really important to bring over. all the actors in the nelson, murdock, and page trio had great onscreen chemistry together, and they really brought a lot of heart to the show.

i would personally love elodie yung back as elektra, because i thought she was great. there is a new actress to the cast, margarita levieva, who's been cast as a "love interest", so it makes me wonder if they might bring in kirsten mcduffie, one of my favorite characters from the dd comics, or if she might be milla donovan, who's another prior love interest of matt's. (man... gets around LMAO)

but yeah, charlie cox was phenomenal in that role. really glad they brought him back, because i can't imagine anyone else playing matt at this point. even when i read dd comics now, i read matt with his voice in mind, that's how ingrained he is for me.

Have a Snippet

I’m trying very hard to bring order to my life today, but I gave myself time for a smidge of pleasure writing. In case anyone else needs a pick-me-up, too, I thought I’d share. 

This is the tentative prologue to the Sedoretu fic. (Which, shockingly, is actually safe for work for once!!) 

The concealed panel in the ‘fresher wall opened with the light press of a finger. Shada examined the reference list adhered to the inside of the panel cover, a faint smile touching her lips as her gaze skimmed over Mara’s perfunctory descriptions of the presets she’d programmed into the state-of-the-art lighting system. 

The default setting was labeled “bathbar” — a technical term for task lighting — because of course it was. How many of Karrde’s bases had Mara designed or redesigned for efficiency before she herself had come along and added the comfortable, stylish touches that made them welcoming and elegant, besides? Fondness for her pragmatic, no-nonsense lover rippled through her as Shada followed the list down until she found what she needed: NR Gala Hellscape.

Chuckling, Shada selected the setting, then winced a little when the lighting in the ‘fresher went from clean, soft, and warm to a brutally cold, insensibly greenish-hued glare. 

Sighing, she closed the panel and reached for her make-up case. She’d have to get creative to create a look that was equally flattering in both the NR’s lighting landscape and the more nuanced one of the apartment. After all, it wouldn’t do her any good to lure her target home only to lose his interest before she got him in bed. 

She’d given herself plenty of time, though, and she had more than enough experience to work out the right tones and craft the desired result. When she flicked the settings back to standard, she was pleased to see that she’d succeeded. The warm caramel tones of her skin glowed alluringly under both lights, and the smoky gold of her makeup gave her dark eyes endless depth. The skin-toned lipstick she’d selected completed the look, its neutral color making her appear endlessly kissable with no risk of indiscrete evidence left behind on collar or mouth. 

Satisfied, she left the ‘fresher to slip into her gown. Anticipation began to build as she tucked her feet into her Liwari heels. Finding and procuring the best gifts for her lovers had been a point of personal pride for her since she’d escaped the indigent penury of her youth. 

If tonight went to plan, she’d present them with the best gift of all. 

Collecting her wrap and the matching silka bead clutch from the nightstand, she checked her appearance one last time. Then she swept out of the apartment to the waiting hoverlimo, just in time to arrive at her destination fashionably late.
