Buck: The truth is, I don't know what I'm ready for, but I am ready for something. A-and I think, maybe, that something could be with you.
Tommy: You already know I'm interested.
Buck, beaming: Come with me to my sister's wedding.
Tommy, understandably flabbergasted: What.
You know what? I don’t WANT an awkward double date. I don’t WANT buck coming out and people having the ‘I know’ reaction or the ‘is it Eddie’ reaction.
You know what I do want?
I want Buck panicking over what to wear for the date. I want Buck flopping on his bed like very teenager after their first kiss all giggly and happy and touching his lips because he kissed a boy
I want Buck smiling every time he says Tommy’s name because maybe it isn’t forever and maybe he’s not even looking for forever anymore but he’s so happy and he’s so light and being with Tommy feels good
I want Tommy to keep calling him Evan, because before Buck was Buck he was Evan and Evan deserves to be happy to be treated so softly and lovingly and Evan deserves to be free.
I want Buck to be happy. To be happy and free and queer in the way we all deserve.
Lou saying that he made little choices to show Tommy was checking Buck out prior to the kiss just made me think of Tommy’s decision to go over and apologise personally. Because Lou also said Tommy had no idea Buck was interested until just before so-
He really went all the way over to Buck’s loft just before work because he thinks he Made The Cute Boy Sad 🥺 And he wanted to personally apologise and fix it
“i don’t think you’re a fraud. i just think that maybe you’re not sure of your own feelings yet… and if there’s something you need to tell eddie… you will. in your own time.”
The fact that the Eddie we saw this episode was seen almost entirely from bucks perspective and he had this heightened full of life joy about him - that that is how Buck sees Eddie. As this light in his life - full of joy energy and life - even when viewed through his jealous not fully understanding eyes.
Eddie: Hey, do you happen to know the names of the neighbors from across the street?
Buck: Eddie, this is your house. I don't live here.
Eddie: ...
Buck, huffs: Miranda and Samuel Jones. They have two kids, Kris and Vicky, and the grandfather lives with them too...
Maddie: Admit it, you like Eddie!
Buck: What!? No, I don't!
Buck: I mean am I attracted to him? Sure.
Buck: Do my days feel better when I'm around him? Yes.
Buck: Does he get me in ways that no other person has? Indubitably.
Buck: Do I fantasize about him? Yes, but only in like, four positions.
Buck: And look, am I the type of idiot who would fall in love with his best friend? Of course!
Buck: But do I LIKE Eddie!? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
