Hi, I'm an intermediate witch (mostly kitchen and chaos witchery) and id like to know what a death witch does on the daily, i've tried researching but havent found any good material so im hoping you have some resources as well if you could, thank you for your time! Have a lovely day!

Honestly, I don’t pay much mind to what other people do in their daily lives. Other death witches live their lives in different ways than I do, and what each of us considers to be “normal” will be different from person to person and practice to practice. I can, however, tell you some of the things I do in my daily life that I have in common with other death witches I know!

I have found that a lot of us enjoy talking to the dead while going about our days, even if it’s something small! As well as having an interest in garden/kitchen witchery as well as death witchery, and incorporating both in ways that make sense for the days events. I tend to also have divination sessions at least once every other day, and I try to speak to my deities as often as I can (they are both associated with death/the dead in some fashion.)

Other than those things, I genuinely believe it depends greatly on what influences you on during your own day. What culture are you in? What is expected of you? What are your responsibilities? How do you view and interact with the dead, if you do? How does your culture view the dead, and what the dead mean to the living? What do you do in your daily practice as a baseline?

All of these things and more determine what happens in your daily practice! I hope that helps at least a little bit, even if it’s not as solid of an answer as others might give

Hello I was in claircognize tag and scrolling and I saw your post and this below 👇 caught my attention because I think I'm claircognizant and Clairsentinent (Im not so comfortable of saying it because I doubt SOOO MUCH and it's complicated to explain here)

*However, I also happen to be claircognizant and clairsentient, so I don't need anything to "hear" what my Gods/the spirits are trying to tell me- which is actually very helpful when it comes to the child spirits I work with.*

And when I read this I got confused because I'm so so down whenever I see clairvoyant and clairaudient blogs and people here (which is most common I guess around here) that I don't have that and no way to connect or meet or idk communicate with my spirit guides [if I have any :((( ] and seeing this made me shock because how ??? I'm very confused how do you do it ? And after that paragraph you were kind of telling how you work with energies and I'm also shock because how again 😭😭😭😭 my mind is 😵‍💫😵‍💫 atm sorry to bother you I just had to write this because you have what I have and idk maybe you could say something about it ? 🥺🤷🙈 If not it's ok thank you (do you feel me in this at all and can you tell why I'm like this 😞)

Honestly, I would recommend you message me directly to get this figured out better and explained in a way that makes more sense for you! Unfortunately, explaining things in a way that truly make sense to other people has never been my strong suit with things so close to the chest, but I would love to help you if i can!!!

Energy Work 101: Basic Shielding

"Shielding" is an energy work technique that puts a protective sphere of energy around you. This technique is basic at its core, but can be continually evolved and upgraded to become very advanced and powerful indeed.

Concepts & Theory

Most all shields are spherical or egg-shaped.

Shields are often sized to be an outstretched arm's length away from your body, plus a foot (30cm) or so extra all around. You can make them any size you like. Because they are made of energy, the bigger they are, the more energy they take.

Shields fade away. Depending on how stable they are when you make them, they may fade within hours or days.

Shields can and will affect your mood and how people perceive you.

It is a good idea to practice dismantling/undoing shields as often as you practice creating them.

While the most basic shield is a bubble of white light, they can be endlessly modified.

You can have more than one shield at once. They can be stacked concentrically. Think about which shields you want to be closer to you and which you want on the outside next to others.

One of the most useful ways to modify a shield is to specifically choose what kinds of energies you want to bet let in, and what kinds you want to keep out.

The basic technique used for energy shielding can also be used for other techniques such as glamours, energy cleansing, object charging, and some forms self-care. Because of this, shielding is a good place to start practicing practical energy work.

Shielding is a cousin of aura-imprinting. The technique I am talking about here puts a bubble of energy on the outside of your aura. Aura-imprinting/strengthening techniques refer to changing your aura itself.

Methods of Shield-Raising

There are as many methods to accomplish shielding as there are people. Here are a couple:

1. Make one hand into a fist and place it over your heart. Place your other palm on top of it. Gently push down on your chest to create pressure - not so much that it hurts. Imagine, feel, believe, or know that within your chest is a wellspring of energy. This energy pools around your fist as you create pressure there. When you are ready, move your fist away from your body (experiment with both fast and slow motions). Imagine, feel, believe, or know that an energy sphere grows from that place in your chest and expands until it surrounds you. It stops expanding about a foot away from your outstretched arms.

2. Breathe in. As you breathe in, consider that you are pulling pure energy out of the air and into your body. Hold your breath for a beat and decide that when you exhale, that pure energy is going to start forming a sphere around your body. As you exhale, imagine, feel, believe, intend, or know that this energy flows around you to start forming an energy shell. Continue breathing in and out with intent until you can easily imagine, feel, or believe that the shell has become solid and complete.

3. Consider a pop-culture method that a character uses to shield themselves. Steven Universe can do that rose quartz thing, for example. Or, imagine Captain Picard of Star Trek saying, "shields up!" and the Enterprise being surrounded by powerful protective energy. Copying a pop-culture technique can be extremely effective for shielding. Put your intent towards causing real power to flow, and let culture be your guide.

4. Consider that your body is permanently connected to your environment and there is always free energy exchange passing between you and the world around you. This process is automatic, but like your breath, you have the ability to take control of this process if you so choose. Feel the parts of you making contact with the world below (your feet, or bottoms of your legs if you are sitting). Decide, intend, choose, or will that the energy passing into your body at those points will instead rise up and surround you in a shield. You may need to actively stay with this process and continually will it to occur; with practice you may need to only check in every now and then.

A Method of Shield-Dissolving

1. Consider that you have placed energy around yourself which exists there whether or not you can feel it. Decide, intend, choose, or will that this energy breaks up and dissolves. You get to choose what to do with the energy. Options include:

Drawing it back into yourself

Pushing it down into the earth

Releasing it into the air around you

Would you like to do a fun experiment? Release the energy into the air around you in a closed room with no open doors or windows :)

Consider drawing energy back into yourself until you feel your storage containers are full, then pushing the rest of it downwards and into the earth.

Basic Shield Programming

For practice in raising and putting down energy, the form or shape your shield takes doesn't really matter. If you need to know what form it will take in order to complete the exercise, the most basic shield is considered to be a smooth bubble of white light; you can choose to practice with any form you like.

Programming a shield basically means to choose its effects. Common effects include limiting emotional intake from others, and blocking out environmental energy.

Form should follow function. If you want an energy shield to totally completely block out 100 of environmental energies, its form may take an opaque, solid black orb. If you want the shield to limit some energies but not others, it may take the form of a chain-link fence, be semi-opaque, or be like vines with gaps-inbetween them.

Experimenting with what forms work best for you is worthwhile. You do not necessarily need to choose a specific form: simply putting willpower behind your intent will also suffice.

Two Methods of Programming

I recommend trying the first technique for initially creating the shield, and the second technique for making adjustments once it exists.

1. Choose the intent of your shield before you even begin making it. As you begin gathering power, hold your intent in the forefront of your mind. Understand, believe, or know that the shield will not be created in general, but that it will be created within the specifications of your intent, like pancake batter poured into a cookie cutter mold. Hold your intent at the forefront of your mind while energy is gathered and released into the shield. (This is what you're doing automatically if you choose a pop culture technique with specific shield purpose and form)

2. Create a general/basic shield in any way you prefer. Observe, believe, feel, understand, or know that this basic shield is under your control and will respond to your intent. Select an intent. Pour your intent into the existing shield. This may be done through the vehicle of the breath, hand symbols, eye gazes, chanting, or any desired method. Observe, believe, feel, understand, or know that the shield responds to your will like a pond rippling when a rock is thrown in. Maintain your focus until you sense the work is complete, or until you're tired or bored.

Death water

Death water is a heavy curse and protection water that I use on my enemies

Here's how you can make your own!

What you'll need:

Dirt from the gates of a cemetery

Onyx chips

Mustard seeds

Cinnamon or chili powder

The ashes from any incense or cleansing sticks you've used and will use

6 thumb tacks

Lemon or lime juice

3 nails or train spikes

New moon water or eclipse water

Small bits of wormwood.

Bird's eye chilis.

Thorns from a blackberry bush

Blood root or dragons blood

Dried stinging nestle

Dried thistle

A jar

How to do it

Fill your jar with your water + your lemon/lime juice

Grind up all the herbs

Put in all the tacks, thorns, nails and dirt

Mix it all together

Keep it in a dark place, never let it see the light if you can help it.

This is my basic starter death water, mine that I have has been mastered and refined over years so it's a rather nasty mix.

Curse your enemies or keep wicked things away.

Your choice.

I always suggest taking the names of your enemies, writing them on paper burning them and feeding them to your water✨

Hades is the primeval Greek god of the deceased. He governs around the underworld and tends after the departed. He is espoused to the goddess Persephone and has a companion hellhound with three heads named Cerberus. In the earliest depictions of Hades, he was the firstborn of the Titans.

I’ve seen little ways on preventing a spirit from following you home and clinging to you when you leave a cemetery. I’m curious if there’s a way to protect yourself when you enter(and leave) but not protect yourself so hard you repel the spirits you’re hoping to work with. Hope this makes sense and thanks for any and all help!

The first thing I'm going to recommend for this is specifically worded sigils!

Sigils are easy to make, easy to use, and can be drawn directly on the body to protect you while also being easily hidden (if that's a concern for you).

I use a sigil along the lines of "Only those who wish me no harm may come forward" and it's served me very well in all of my death work. I draw it on either my wrist or torso whenever I go to a cemetery to do any death work, and occasionally burn it in my room to boost the wards I have in place that much more.

Now, the second thing I'll recommend is to make sure your home/room is warded.

If there happens to be a spirit that does follow you despite the sigil, your wards should be able to fend it off and make sure it doesn't do you any harm, or cause any ruckus in your space.

My third recommendation would be to ask your deities, spirit guides/companions, or any other spiritual beings you know/trust to help you out while in the cemetery.

Especially when I was first starting out with "proper" death work, I asked Hades to lend a hand in making sure I was safe every time I went to do death work. I made sure to give him extra offerings both before and after the work, and it made me feel much safer to know He was watching over me.

Finally, trust your gut!

If something feels off or wrong about a spirit you're interacting with, stop the interaction before it gets too far.

If one part of the cemetery feels bad to go into, or you get the impression you aren't welcome there, don't go in! Remember that you are going into the home of these spirits, and not everyone likes guests- some spirits are never going to want to work with you (or anyone else, for that matter) and that's both okay and to be expected.

If you're generally respectful, don't purposefully antagonize any spirits, and keep to the parts of the cemetery that feel welcoming, you shouldn't have any issues!!

Thank you for answering my question! I love finding out how different ppl use divination or other ways to talk to their deities n spirits, mostly because I’m constantly hopping from one divination tool to another because idk which one to use for me, there’s moments where I know what my deities n spirits are saying n then there’s some where I have zero clue. I’m also new to ig death witchcraft and I don’t know where to start with it, so I’ve just been doing ancestry work, spirit work and I’m going to reach out to Hades later bc I’ve had some signs from him recently, if there’s any free resources you think I should look at plz lemme know (sorry for kinda ranting 💀)

As for free resources, one of the things I ended up doing was just working through trial and error- and googling furiously to make sure I wasn't accidently trying to take something from a closed culture (because that's a huge and obvious thing I never want to do). I've also followed @/death-witch-envy for quite some time, and they have amazing posts about death witchery.

Unfortunately, death work is sorta hard to google with many serious results- though the death work tag does have quite a few wonderful death workers with free information, and it sounds like you have a wonderful start so far.

How do you talk to Hades, Persephone and spirits? Do you use tarot?

Honestly, I've been struggling with exactly how to answer this question for a hot second now, because the way I happen to communicate is rather complicated sometimes, and I'm not sure I know how to fully explain some of it.

To start, I use both pendulum and tarot to communicate with Hades, Persephone, and the spirits I work with all the time. I have a dedicated deck and pendulum for Hades, Persephone, and the spirits, plus a deck that is used to give tarot readings for others. I have a natural talent in divination, so this is generally the easiest way for me to communicate with my Gods or any spirits I happen to be working with.

However, I also happen to be claircognizant and clairsentient, so I don't need anything to "hear" what my Gods/the spirits are trying to tell me- which is actually very helpful when it comes to the child spirits I work with.

These two clair-abilities are also a large portion of the reason why I'm so good with energy work- I'm constantly sensing and using the energy of the spaces around me, to the point I can differentiate between even the most similar of spirits, and root out tricksters easier than some of my death witch friends can.

Hades in particular refuses to answer me through tarot or pendulum unless it's something I absolutely wouldn't be able to understand using my clair-abilities, now that I have a solid name for what they are, and has transitioned into almost exclusively communicating with me through said abilities.

Instead of letting me know this or that through a tarot reading, He will either "pop" words/phrases into my head, change the energy of the room around me, or push a certain feeling/emotion onto me for a few seconds (or any number of other things).

While I like to use tarot or a pendulum to confirm what my abilities are telling me, and often use divination in tandem with said abilities, if I happen to be without any tools, I can fairly easily communicate as needed.

Honestly, I can't exactly pinpoint how I started my energy work, but I can explain some ways to start your own!!

The biggest thing for me was honestly just doing something to start. In the beginning, I ended up doing a lot of simple protection spells that I had managed to find online and just sorta went from there, but what you start with depends on what your personal needs, wants, and interests are.

I do, however, have a few general tips for starting with energy work:

Find an area you're interested in and start there- find or make a spell that's as simple as possible (I started with just repeated words/phrases said with intention) and just do it! Put as much of yourself into the spell as possible and do it

Find something that helps you focus and practice focusing on certain intentions- I've found active meditation techniques really help when I'm trying to focus on pretty much anything

Make sigils! There's about a million ways to make sigils, and they're an amazing way to help focus/channel energy without anything but a simple pen

If you're working with a deity, ask them for guidance! Hades ended up helping with a lot of my energy work once I started, and the witchy friends I have pretty much all have similar stories with their deities

Find things that give you more energy or make you feel more alive- for me, it was as simple as realizing nighttime makes me feel more awake/energized and starting to plan my energy work around times of day when I was able to be looking at the night sky, but that could be any number of things for you

Listen to music that helps set the mood/tone of work you want to do, and build off the energy in the music itself until you release the energy into the universe

Speak something into the universe, and believe it will/has happened- AKA manifestation! It's a form of energy work that's really taken off here lately, and one that's actually pretty simple at it's core

Now, I'm sure there are a million other things to be said about energy work and how to start in it, but those are some of the things I did when I was first starting out, and they remain some of my favorite things to do almost 8 years later.

okay so i had this dream with 3 spirits, but the dream didnt had an end. so no i just feel like empyt or idk like something is not right. And i was thinking abt and realize that i have no idea of how to know if there is, or how to interact with a spirit. can you pls give me some advice

I don't know how much experience you have with spirit work or communication, but my first advice is to protect yourself in some way. If you're looking to communicate with these spirits, I would at the very least make some sort of protection sigil to make sure they aren't some sort of trickster spirit or otherwise trying to harm you.

With that being said, one of the easiest and most beginner-friendly ways of spirit communication is actually a pendulum. They're easy to make, easy to use, and give ample opportunity to change/grow as your communication needs change/grow.

Now, once you establish a line of communication with the spirits, the best way to interact with them is just to be respectful and kind, but to make sure you enforce any boundaries you have with them. Most spirits won't do anything harmful as long as you don't completely disrespect them, so keeping a calm head and speaking in a respectful tone to them is generally the way to go.

hey, can you talk a little more about child spirits? like ways to know they're around n stuff like that :) in my religion we have something similar called "erê", they're a child entities n i love them!! we feel they're close when everything seems funny, you can feel their joy n their desire to eat a lot of sweets, soda bottles will "explode" n if you're eating candy or cooking something sweet, oh boy, it will be everywhere!! they like making a mess with their candies, it's part of their work ♡

I love talking about child spirits, so yes!! Seeing this land in my inbox made me happier than I care to admit lol

The child spirits I work with most are between about four to eight years old, and ooooh boy do they act like it!! I can usually tell they're around and/or that they want attention by a few different things:

--Suddenly craving sweets, espeically milk chocolate or gummy candies

-- The world seeming funnier/lighter to be in- like I'm viewing everything through rose tinted glasses

-- Feeling drawn to the "candy candles" I made for the child spirits that hang around me (they're just hand poured candles with a ton of different colors of wax that look sorta like candy- the kiddos love them)

-- Finding the sudden urge to run/jump/play, espeically when in/around a forest or meadow

-- Suddenly getting sleepy or wanting to curl up with an extra soft blanket

Of course, those are the more happy/good things I feel, but there are some pretty upsetting ones too- the death work I do with the child spirits I interact with isn't always pretty or nice, nor is it an entirely happy experience.

Occasionally, if there is a new spirit I'm working with or one that has recently found me, there are some more upsetting feelings/impulses that may arise, including:

-- The sudden, overwhelming urge I can't breathe/tightness in my chest

-- Suddenly wanting to cry/feeling overly sad out of nowhere

-- Feeling scared out of my mind without warning, usually followed by some sort of underlying anxiousness for the entire interaction between myself and the spirit

-- Suddenly distrusting adults for no discernable reason

These are not even close to all the ways the kiddos manifest into my life or make themselves known to me, but they are some of the biggest ones!

Obviously, I enjoy the "nice" ones more, but the "bad" ones are actually more useful in the long run, seeing as the bad/upsetting feelings are the ones that lead me to children who need/want my help, and that's what I'm here for.

Communicating with Child Spirits- A Personal How-To

Those of you that follow me know that I mainly work with child spirits in my death work practice, which isn't something I've seen discussed very often on here. So, with the blessing of a few of the children I work with the most, I've typed up some tips/tricks on how to start working with child spirits for yourself!

These aren't really in order of importance, and if I happen to think of any more I will update the list!!

1) Understand your limits when it comes to death work in general- things can get extremely heavy extremely quickly and you need to both keep that in mind, and understand it's okay not to be able to do a ton of death work at once

2) Protect yourself- Personally, I have a few protection sigils I use and hefty wards that Hades/Persephone help with, but what protection you use/need is completely unique to you and what you're doing

3) Open yourself up to non-verbal answers/communications- As with a lot of spirit workers/death witches that I know, particularly powerful spirits can "beam" words/phrases into my head or make me aware of them in other ways. Depending on how old the child spirit is, they may or may not think in full sentences or sentences that you can understand, so opening yourself up to different feelings/fragmented thoughts is more helpful than you can imagine

4) Consider using a pendulum to help with communication, especially if you aren't used to speaking with children in your day to day life- As someone who frequently uses both tarot and pendulum to help speak with the dead, I've found that children, especially younger children, tend to give more clear/concise answers through pendulum than through tarot

5) Remember that you're speaking with a child- meaning they might not understand what happened to them, what time period they died in (or what time period it is now), or exactly what's going on around them. Some definitely do and children know more than we ever give them credit for, but that doesn't mean they fully comprehend death or what it means to have passed on

6) Please don't be super super formal with kids! Especially the case of the younger ones, your goal should be to make them feel comfortable enough to help them in whatever way they need, and there are very few children who feel more at ease when an adult starts speaking to them in a way they don't understand

7) Expect the unexpected!! Children play pranks, joke around, mess around, and generally do things that older spirits either don't or won't. Expect to have to make and enforce different boundaries with them than you will with adult spirits, just like when they're living

8) Listen to your instincts! Unfortunately, there are trickster spirits out there who can and will pretend to be children- so if something seems off or makes you feel strange, listen to yourself and get that entity out of your workspace

9) When in doubt, reach out- there is no shame in asking for help or guidance when you're new to something! If you don't know exactly what you're doing and you don't want to just jump into it head first, reach out and ask someone with more experience!!
