For anyone getting excited over Hillerska being shut down by the school inspectorate, hold your glee. Lundsberg Skola is the Swedish boarding school Hillerska seems to based on. After years and years of warnings and fines re bullying and hazing, Lundsbergs was shut down by the school inspectorate on August 28, 2013.
It was supposed to stay shut down for a minimum of 6 months. Instead the school hired expensive lawyers, appealed, and were allowed to reopen on September 6, 2013. So it only took 9 days before they found a loophole. One can assume Hillerska will do likewise and everybody (except the third years) will be back in class in the second half of August when the new school year starts.
At Lundsbergs, the headmaster was fired and the entire board of governors resigned after the shut down. But they soon regrouped, hired a new headmaster, appointed new alumni and parents to the board, and debuted a shiny new anti-bullying policy. Whether it actually worked is unlikely. But the parents are mostly alumni themselves. They would’ve gone through the same brutal hazings and wouldn’t think they’d be such a big deal.
Here’s the Wikipedia page, scroll down to the Controversy section for the details on the abuse and bullying that the school was turning a blind eye to. The final investigation, the one that triggered the (temporary) shutdown, was when the younger boys were burned with hot irons by older boys at an initiation. One boy was burned so badly he needed to be hospitalized. The hospital called the local police, who called the school inspectorate. Note: that boy’s parents were not the ones to notify either the police or the school inspectorate.
Also scroll down to the Alumni section for a look at all the rich, influential and famous people (including multiple Swedish royals across many generations) who went there.

(there's ranting. you've been warned.)
um... happy monday to the young royals fandom/edvin's fans in general.
(via edvin's instagram stories)
Tumblr media
he is... he is twenty years old. good grief.
(i won't comment on anything regarding his physical appearance on this post, even if everything i'd say would be very, very positive, due to the fact that, although he's never going to come across this, it would still go against his wishes.)
can we just please, please leave people alone? this behaviour... it's not healthy, for anyone involved.
generally speaking, we live in a society where beauty standards are, unfortunately, an inextricable part of some people's lives. these same people believe they can force their own standards, "inspired" by a million different factors surrounding all of us every day (family, school, friends, the environment we grow up in etc etc), to other people, the "trend" (if i can call it such) especially targeting complete strangers, mainly on the internet.
and yes, that includes celebrities, too. famous people, if you prefer this term better. artists. whatever they want to be and are- most of us have been there to not know a day where these people's rights on their personal lives and choices and clothes and pets or whatever a paparazzi or a fan is going to decide does not fit their standards of the day have not been infringed on.
because, believe it or not (and i am NOT refering to the wonderful, respecting, brilliant, supporting majority of fans, at least in this specific fandom), your favourite actor is not your friend. even if the comments on their appearance, for example, like in edvin's case, are written in a playful, sarcastic tone, this cannot be understood through text on a screen- another problem of our society's current state; harmful words you write on a screen, whatever the intention is, do not just stay there, floating around. you aren't trying to communicate with your notes app. a person is reading them, even though you may think they will never reach them, because, for instance, of their huge audience. and it can (excuse me for my language) fuck them up the same way it would fuck someone (e.g. at school or at work) up to say the same harsh words- again, even if you don't correctly estimate the power they can hold- to their face.
so, again, as i have written and reblogged posts in the past regarding similar issues in this specific fandom,, which i love so so dearly, my intention is not to play the part of the "angelic fan" or whichever label might fit the text.
my intention is to maybe, just maybe, reach someone out there who will change their way of thinking; who will have second thoughts when writing a comment about a mustache (for god's sake); who will gain a little grain of empathy towards a fellow global citizen of theirs; who will try to cease some of the "madness"... before a person whose only intention was to make their dreams come true by entering the, in this case, film industry feels obliged to address the issue via a platform on the internet, as if not commenting on his looks etc is not the sensible thing to do... before this attitude turns to bullying for real. if it hasn't already.
that's all i had to say. i am apologising for the length of the post or any mistakes, since english is not my first language and i am quite mad and disappointed, maybe little hurt actually, especially as someone who has been struggling with their physical appearance and comments on it since i was literally a child.
i cannot imagine dealing with that plus being famous and having people judging you all the time. jesus. i really hope edvin has his support system near him and that he will be alright. <3

in honour of chapter 5 of the real deal: the sidewalk rule
this actually doesnt have anything to do with TRD at all it just made me think about them and then i thought of this so yea here we are i guess
So in my mind Walter doesnt know it exists, never even heard of it or even the concept of it. He's not rlly on That Side of the Internet.
Henry knows about the rule and does it Every Single Day. He walks on the inside. He doesnt tell walter about it, he just makes him walk on the road side with some clever trickery just for funzies. He knows Walter doesn't know but that doesn't matter it's just a fun little game he plays for himself.
At some point Walter catches on and makes it a point to try to walk on the inside, just out of spite and pettiness. He doesnt tell Henry that he knows and Henry never finds out that he knows. Its just turning into this game where both of them secretly try to trick the other into walking on the roadside for no reason other than the fact that they are in a silly goofy mood

i would honestly rather rewatch the same show with even half decent gay rep a million times than watch any lgbtq centric show where they all end up sad and traumatized at the end. i want the gay people to be HAPPY i get enough of how depressing is can be to be queer in real life i want the shows i watch to be a way to get away from that.
#this is about young royals. i honestly cant stand that show i cant do angst yall not unless there's also lots of fluff and a happy ending#if im gonna consume queer media then it's going to be happy bc i dont want to keep being told that being gay is always accompanied by misery#i GET that being queer bring about its own set of struggles and that the country i live in has been consistently hurting queer and trans#folks for YEARS. when i watch a show that's not what i want to be thinking about. i think about that shit all the time any time i do anythin#remotely related to my queer/transness. i cant not think about it. so when i finally find a show that has obvious representation of people#like me i really need it to be uplifting and happy. i understand shows need conflict#but i would really rather the conflict be about something other than the fact that the character is gay for once#it tires me out dude#this is why i like ofmd and heartstopper so much#the problems in ofmd and NOT because of their queerness and no one hates any character because they are homosecual or trans. they just dont#and heartstopper. although the main conflict is that nick doesnt feel able to come out for a while and charlie is bullied for being mlm#it still gives them a happy ending. and there are conflicts OUTSIDE of their queerness (tao and charlie's friendship. charlies mental health#) so it doesnt feel as horrible for me to watch bc they're able to find joy in each other and their friends and rhey still have safe spaces#and not everyone is constantly mad at everyone. it just feels less depressing. its a happy show and they get to be happy about being gay.#anyways. rant over sorry yall just needed to get that out of my system#long story short i dont like sad gay shows#dipshitposts

i'm on episode two of young royals and so far it's just making me really really jealous of sara because she seems to have such a nice brother who always seems to make an effort to include her in things and make sure she doesn't feel too lonely or left out - unlike my brother, whose response to me being lonely in high school was to constantly go "na-na-na-na-na you've got no friends!", as if it was all some big running joke

Liveblogging young royals, here we go:
August (the cousin yk, think thats his name) is giving me bad vibes. "We could commit murder and no one would say anything" UMMM??? MY DUDE??? thats a concerning statement there
The girl who was mean to the sister shown doing the thing to a picture of william, like good for her i guess but also slightly weird, but maybe thats the asexuality speaking. Still felt kinda odd the whole scene, also she got sth putting pressure on her which makes her stressed but idk what
The father was really trying, idk the whole story and theres probably sth not good there but yeah he was trying so hard: "cute boys then" lol
William is clearly having some leftist or sth idk, awakening there with simon in class
The 'year threes bullying year ones and the school system being set up in a way to officially condone it in some ways' thing is rancid. I know its common for fancy boarding schools but i wanted to emphasize the yikes.
HATED the introduction ritual with the clown masks there. Same points as above, big yikes.

Vincent was such an asshole in this season (I doubt it’ll change in the finale) and I think it’s because of how goddamn privileged he is.
This is a person who has gotten everything he’s needed handed him to him. He’s so trapped in a bubble of privilege that he sees the idea of someone wanting basic rights or being even slightly less repressed as an attack towards him and his power.
His obsession with being a third year and what that brings him reflect this as well. He’s reached what he sees as the most powerful role in the school and he has a need to be the person in charge. It’s shown when Wille challenges the order of the school in s2 and when the teachers show resistance to the ultimatums he delivers (but even then they still give in which only reinforces the power he has).
