something i love so so sooo much about find us alive’s writing is how good of a deconstruction of Selfless Kind Cinnamon Roll characters lancaster is. he’s selfless, he wants to help others and cares about that more than his own health, he doesn’t take care of himself because he’s so worried about his friends, and this isn’t wholly a good and sympathetic thing, in fact it makes problems worse - when he’s the one causing problems and thinking the solution is to convince people it’s fine now rather than actually working on himself, because he’s the one who’s always Helping People™️ even when that help is absolutely not what anyone needs right now

he bases so much of his self worth on Helping People, he’s a therapist who has a whole thing about wanting to help others because he knows what it’s like to be left alone, and in containment i can only imagine the social deprivation is making him so desperate just to interact with someone anymore, go back to Helping People, so things can be Normal Again, not really processing that he’s the reason things aren’t ‘Normal’ and how much of a dick move it is to try and Fix other people in this situation when he’s the one that inarguably needs it the most. how much it must suck to be harley or raddagher and hear him trying to reach out again and act like all they need to do is just accept him again.

(it’s really sad to see how much being in containment has fucked with his head too - having someone who thrives on being around others be isolated for even longer than he was isolating himself before, on top of having to come to terms with the fact everything he’d been doing for the past while was because of anomalous delusions… MAN. like this is a post about how he’s being shitty but i also cannot blame him for how FUCKED his mental state must be right now)

if find us alive were written differently it would be so easy for lancaster to just be portrayed as this kind cinnamon roll who just wants to help people and has never done anything wrong in his life and the fact he’s like, a layered and complex and downright shitty person at times because of his selflessness, a trait that’s so often portrayed as a wholly Good Thing, is just so cool to see. he’s such a good character and i love him and want him to be okay and get himself together so bad

First of all - that's actually not the Video I was planning to cut. But since I have to stay the weekend at the hospital and not allowed to use my computer here, I have to chance my plans and have to use tiktok to cut at least a little video. Believe me, it broke my heart to use tiktok instead of my usual cutting program. And so the pictures are without the planned Effects, I am sorry :(. I planned to make a Hphm Halloween MC costume video. Every MC is another magical creatures, ghost or what ever. Hope you are OK that I use your MCs without asking 😅. Keiras hair as so much fun to draw! While I was drawing her I was asking myself if a mermaid need glasses? And if they do, how do mermaids that's? Anyway, I try to draw not a typical mermaid since there are fairy tales about mermaid where they are more evil and dangerous. And I like that more. A typical Ariel mermaid would be to normal.

Aaaa good old horrors clowns! It was from the very beginning clearly for me to draw Vixen as a horror clown. When I start drawing she reminds me first to much as Harley Quinn, but I am happy with the result in the end. And her face expression Oo I am surprised by myself. Hope you like it too.

The women in white is one of my favorite ghost. They are many different storys about her, but in the end she is alsway a woman who was betrayed. Personally, I like the version where she helps ppl if they get lost. And yeah... I thought it would suit Danique and it was very funny to draw her. I lobe to draw long hair! Hope you like it! *-*

And last but not least - Samantha O'Connell as Grimm Reaper. Yes, it suits her and her story. And I added a little Easter egg. The mask she is holding is her mask as a Ghost agent. The time were she was the most dangerous and able to bring pain and death to her enemies.

Still sad I can't upload the original planned videos with all original planned mc's. But my body says no. So well. I will make the best of it 🤷‍♀️.

Tinkering with the Homestuck verse

What is difficult about estimating how Evie would interact with the “Homestuck kids” from either the Beta or Alpha timelines is that... the whole estimation of how they would have interacted is different?

I mean, with the Beta kids, most of it comes down to how much Lady Elaine Lancaster would have encouraged them socializing whenever she was visiting for work reasons.

IF contact was enforced at some point... Order of likely frequency of contact (ish)

Humans (Beta Timeline)

Rose and Roxy Lalonde

Jake (Up to Age 5-ish?) and Jade Harley (and Becquerel by extension)

Dad and John Egbert.

Dirk and Dave Strider.

I mean, discounting time schenanegens... which definitely does happen, most of the possibility of contact depends on how close they are to the Skainet labs where the family company has a contract with and whether or not their respective guardians would be so eager as to open contact... or how it might affect their charges.

As such, in a “proper sequence” of introduction, Rose is the one that would have introduced Evie to her three friends IF they were encouraged to interact. However, she’s probably very familiar with the “weird teleporting dog” that sometimes drops by for free food and head pats whether other parties are involved or not.

Trolls (Beta Timeline)

When it comes to trolls, I’d suppose she’d probably trip over Kenous’s chat feed when rummaging through her mother’s things in the hidden basement... who probably would have introduced her to the others in a very careful fashion and likely starting with a mutually agreed prank.

If we’re talking about Kenous... Usually the rate of contact rolls downwards from the top of the Hemospectrum. Although what she information she shares with home is up to her own discretion and considering the touchiness of the subject, she’d probably only tell Feferi about it.

As for the Alpha Timeline...

I’d imagine the first contact is probably made either way by tinkering with the terminal in the house’s basement. However, the results would be pretty mixed.

I mean, she could be just as easily introduced by the other kids as she might inadvertently stumble upon things using the terminal’s “scanning mode” hoping to have someone to talk to that isn’t one of her Consorts.

First contact is important in any cases... and Kenous’s Dancestor is kind of... well she makes the Empress look like a tame kitten (or Meowbeast as Kenous calls them). What would have been a peaceful attempt at contact would rapidly devolve into a battle of wits.

Regardless, I doubt Evie would meet any of the players (Outside of those in session Alpha-B and possibly Rose as an exception) in person until Earth-C becomes accessible.

Candela obscura circle of needle and thread, Sean Finnerty makes me want to wail if I think about him too long he went to war and he committed atrocities and he killed kids at the order of another man and he's so sure he's a monster for that so when the first person to acknowledge that offers to get his mother out of the sanatorium she's been trapped in since his brothers died in the war? Doesn't matter if it's a literal monster, it understands, and if he has to sacrifice the man he has been friends with since they were children and who played with him and his brothers when they were young and helped him survive during the war? Sure, he's already a monster, he needs therapy SO BAD, 3. DSMP I cannot escape it, my boy c!Tommy has a grip on me that I can't escape

Cheesecake is awesome, it's my favorite type of cake, all cakes should be cheesecake (but as decided in unsung falls gc long ago, they shouldn't be baked, if I remember correctly? I think I still have a meme I made about saved to my phone, ill check once I've hit post on this ask)

For a long time they were the closest of friends, and there were times where Amber thought they’d be friends forever, but as they grew older she could see how different they really were, and how perfect she seemed to fit into Amber’s family

So at the age of eighteen she packed up her things and moved out.

She just recently came back to Kola after deciding maybe it was time to go home and see her family and old friends. But who knows how long this will last.

When they were seventeen they came out that they identify as agender and go by they/them pronouns but their parents just didn’t seem to get it???

it wasn’t super bad or anything it just lead it to be awkward in their house hold so Harley decided to leave at the age of eighteen after graduation

. oh my god this is my oldest muse I’m bringing in so far and I’m actually writing a book based off her life so there’s a strong ass chance this is gonna be long and I’m gonna have the absolute most muse for her because i know her so well

so basically when brin was 16 her father convinced her to start dealing drugs for her in school because it was like the easiest way for him to make money since so many people in LA, California were smoking pot esp in high school

And her dad has always been like a brodude more than an actual father figure and like she agreed because hey she got to pocket some of the cash and she was able to live her best life right

wrong at seventeen she actually fell in love with someone while her father was gone for a full fucking month and he had the audacity to come back pissed off at her for pulling away from him / he also may be on the run from the cops bc he almost got busted but he was mad at her for the former

so he took her away from la and they began their travels on the road

she never even got to finish high school

Basically she lived in an RV with her father traveling from city to city selling drugs just to get by

Her father had a way with talking to people that made it easier for them to sell and what not but soon, her father’s connection ran dry

She was nineteen the first time one of her fathers friends cornered her in the small RV bedroom and no matter how loud she yelled, he never came.

He swore it’d never happen again.

Three months later it was an almost routine practice and Brinley realized she never meant anything to him

She was too scared to leave and still to this day hasnt

She’s currently living in Kola, California but she’s staying in a motel room

Her father was able to score some drugs when they got there so she’s currently selling but she’s scared when the drugs run out he’s going to turn back to the old routine.

Oh my god this wild fucking animal right here was well, at first he was cosima silver’s nephew but now since i have them in the same group he’s her cousin and lives with her in the apartment above her little shop

This did not happen easily, oh no, he comes from a family of very strict parents who actually exiled Cosima’s family from their lives at a young age because they believed in her ‘gifts’ and they thought they were crazy

Daniel, though, thought the exact opposite. When they were young and before the split happened Cosima would talk to Daniel about her gifts and he would reel in them and he literally loved it so much

But when they were cast out of the family Daniel sort of realize just how horrible his family actually was??? and how different he was????

Sadly his dumb ass was honestly stuck there until a month ago where he finally packed up his shit and completely bailed on his family then moved in with Cosima and he’s been here ever since

He works in her shop as a tarot card reader or rather, he’s trying to learn how to do it. He has literally no gifts but he wants to help people and maybe start to learn from Cosima

lets start off with the fact that Lance is the oldest of SEVEN CHILDREN his mother being the common denominator

Lance was the first born and her most prized son out of all the kids but as he got older, and she started having so many suitors, and started toying with various hard drugs he sort of lost that connection with her and was forced to grow up way too young.

When he was ten, he already had three siblings, each one of them born a year or two after the other and Lance was the only one who could really take care of them. Him and the second oldest were often left in charge of the kids but they didn’t want much to do with all the kids and Lance sort of understood that.

When he turned nineteen and the second oldest was eighteen they left town without so much as a letter which only forced Lance to become the actual father the whole family needed.

His life has always been about the kids. He now has siblings ranging from 3 to 25 and he usually keeps tabs on all of them.

But ya boi has to make money some how, so, he’s dedicated any time he can get away from the youngest kids to doing what he does best and thats babysitting drug addicts or being a designated driver.

He personally does not do drugs but he knows what to do and how to take care of people when they’re tripping so he has become the druggie babysitter of Kola, California.

He’s honestly a really cool dude who is actually really fucking helpful all of the time

He just gets really god damn moody sometimes and wants to punch people in the throat but think about it his day starts at 6 AM with 2 children and 2 tweens, you’d be moody as hell too by 9 pm while driving some drunk asshole home

HOLDEN CLOVER looks an awful lot like JAMES FRANCO. HE is THIRTY-NINE and while they’re BALANCED, they have a tendency to get pretty FICKLE. You’ve probably seen them around Kola listening to A WALK THROUGH HELL by SAY ANYTHING.

Conor has always been a nice and compassionate kid and honestly, he got married at 23 to the love of his life

But after three beautiful years he lost his wife to a car accident and he hasnt been the same since

a lot of people in town look at him like this poor broken bird because ever since his wife died he hasn’t been able to be like a normal human being

he doesn’t go out

he barely goes to work

he’s going to lose his house

he’s just in a deep deep deep depression and honestly it’s actively sad

Dexter: New Blood’s Setting and Location Explained

When it comes to television, Miami and vice go hand in hand. Something about a vibrant multicultural city covering up a seedy human underbelly is too good for TV storytellers to pass up. So just as the classic ‘80s cop procedural delighted in juxtaposing the Southern Florida sunshine with the uglier aspects of living in a big city, so too did Showtime’s Dexter.

Miami-Dade County was the unspoken MVP of the serial killer drama’s eight season run. Miami was so integral to the show’s vibes that, in lieu of killing its titular lead character in the series finale, Dexter just moved him to Oregon to be a lumberjack. Because being away from the Slice of Life docked in Bay Harbor is as good as dead.

That’s why the new setting for the long-awaited ninth season, Dexter: New Blood, is so jarring. Gone are both the Miami palm trees and the Oregon normal-ass trees. In their place is the frigid locale of Iron Lake, New York – a fictional village in upstate New York where the defining geographical feature is snow…lots of snow. With Miami so inextricable from the original Dexter’s DNA, why did this latest version opt to move him to a new environment?

“One of the big reasons why we wanted to do this in Iron Lake was just how beautiful blood on snow is. That red against the white, it excited us, you know,” Dexter producer Scott Reynolds told journalists during the show’s TCA press tour appearance this summer.

Dexter: New Blood Episode 1 Review – Cold Snap

As its name implies, Dexter: New Blood is a fresh saga for the beloved Showtime drama. After the original series finale was received poorly by fans and critics alike in 2013, the show’s star, Michael C. Hall, and original showrunner, Clyde Phillips, opted to return for one more season to take another crack at it. Since New Blood takes place many years after the series finale and is its own unique beast – something between a straight up continuation and a limited series – a new setting goes a long way towards setting it apart from its preceding Dexter seasons.

The new setting also presents some new storytelling possibilities that Miami did not.

“Putting Dexter in the small fictional town of Iron Lake, New York (population: 2,760) means that there is so much less temptation for him to go out and do what he does,” Phillips told reporters during TCA. “The whole point is to put him in this tiny town so that everybody he passes is a potential victim. He’s really got to do the work to find who deserves for him to take a stab at it, as we would say.”

Though Iron Lake is fictional, Dexter: New Blood did film on location in some real places. Production on the season ran for 119 days amid COVID restrictions in the Western Massachusetts towns of Worcester, Shelburne Falls, Holden, Gardner, Lancaster, and Sterling. Shelburne Falls in particular serves as Iron Lake’s downtown area. So if you want to find Jim Lindsay at Fred’s Fish and Game shop, that’s the place to look. While the change of scenery injects some fresh life into Dexter: New Blood, it did also require an adjustment period for its cast and crew. During the aforementioned TCA 2021 summer press tour, Hall told journalists that he promised himself he wouldn’t complain about the cold on set. But everybody’s human, whether they have a dark passenger or not.

“There were a couple of nights where I let myself maybe moan a little bit. One day we shot until about 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning, and it was like two degrees. But I liked actually being cold, as opposed to acting like it was cold when it was 80 degrees. It was a lot easier to just be cold.”

Dexter: New Blood airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.

Dedicated to the Rae brothers.

15th June 2019: We awake to blue skies and beautiful views. Bald eagles soar above us. There is a bench in the park dedicated to the Rae brothers. Lancaster bomber crew and killed in Europe, Harold in 1944, Leslie in ’45. It is a stark reminder of the state of nations at that time, people’s belief in what they held dear and the futility of a war on the opposite side of the globe. In honour to their flying service, sacrifice and total commitment in WW2 a redundant Boeing 737 has been sunk in the Sound to create a dive site and new marine eco system.

Chemainus: “The little town that did”. Did what? Since 1858 forestry has been the principal industry here. However, as the economy faltered in the 1970s the townspeople looked at ways to diversify their incomes and earnings potential. Tourism was already established, albeit on a small scale, and so the Mural Program was born with a community heritage focus. The First Nations People and their life here and the unfolding stories of settlers who built the community are represented in the forty-three murals, statues and sculptures that are scattered around the town.

It is a lovely town to walk around. Very clean, twee, with a Main Street of traditional wooden built clapperboard housing and shops. So far nothing we have seen on Vancouver Island appears to pre-date the 1980s.

Chemainus looks to be an active little town: there is a Festival Theatre, weekly concerts at the bandstand, an excellent guitar shop cum guitar museum, lots of community events, stuff for children and families. Like many small towns the world over it is only the teenagers who get a raw deal.

Onwards to Ladysmith, birthplace of strumpet Pamela Anderson and famous for not much else. Although, as we are crossing a supermarket car park we shorten our stride to allow some Harleys to pass one of which is ridden by James Hetfield, lead singer and guitarist with heavy rockers Metallica. The much publicised, not to be missed at any cost Goats on the Roof turns out to be a busy supermarket and ice-cream shop with, yes, goats on the roof. We pause briefly in Port Alberfini and end the day at Ucluelet. Ucluelet means "people of the safe harbour" in the indigenous Nuu-chah-nulth language.

At the Wya campsite the pattern for our evenings gets repeated: we gather driftwood on the beach, light a fire and have a campfire meal of burgers, beans and new potatoes. Yum.

I’ve got an earworm and it won’t go away, had it for a few days now:
