so much of the media i love has cool male mentors or emphasises fathers, male mentors, or if women are a source of drive or inspiration they exist in that capacity as lovers; but to have an Incredibly Powerful male hero that goes "yes, i derive all my strength from my mother-figure mentor" is so dear to me. his earliest memories of his happy childhood featuring his biological mother.

TWF fans have a strange habit of, for lack of a better word, woobifying Mr. Walten.

I think a lot of you seem to take this series a lot less serious than it actually is, and those same people have a very bad habit of making Jack out to be a saint. He's just a normal guy. Just because he loves his family doesn't mean he's some sweet and perfect guy who has no flaws. I never see any of you discuss or portray his anger issues that Martin has mentioned numerous times.

You all blatantly ignore the fact that Sophie's only memories she retained of him were that he was angry and he worked all the time. Just because he loves his family and didn't abuse them doesn't mean he's perfect. To deny him of these flaws take away what a dynamic character he's being written to be.

We know Felix sucks. We all know this because no one shuts up about it. That's his best friend of 20 years, someone he chose to have around his family, and someone he chose to start a business with. Felix's actions don't reflect on Jack, obviously, but you have to think about the fact they are best friends of 2 decades.

The small bit we know about Jack and what things Martin has let on to his personality over time is very different than what everyone makes him out to be, and it's strange. If you choose to ignore that Jack is just a normal middle-aged man in the 70s, that's on your own inability to actually like the character that's there.

Just learned that Gilbert's father died at the battle of Minden. That's the third frev person I know whose father participated in the battle (SJ and Hérault's), and the second one whose father died (Hérault's). Gilbert's dad was also a 20 something aristo officer. Small sample, but I guess there is something to say about the stupidity of giving such young men so high positions in the battle command based on birth.

he looks like the type to start shit - loud and aggressive as anyone else here but a punk doesn't end up at a metal show for no reason - but there's also something niggling at him that he's gonna end up getting himself hurt. and ghost can’t tell if he’s going to do it on purpose

if he does, ghost needs to know. he uses these places as an escape - the music, the violence, the community - always has and he knows all to well how easily an escape can curdle and become destructive. he’s seen too many people lost to the darker parts of the scene, almost lost himself to it; he doesn’t want it to happen to anyone else if he can help it

so when he sees the punk sweating his mohawk off, his movements becoming looser and uncoordinated, he has no issues with yanking him out of the pit and pulling him away from the crowd; pushing him up against the venue wall and ordering him to open his mouth

the glaze that falls over his eyes concerns him even as he obediently lets his mouth fall open. he was right; the punk’s severely dehydrated, tongue and gums far to pale and along with the look in his eyes, he half-thinks he’s about to drop

he reflexively tightens his hold on his jaw to keep him up and the punk shivers, a flush creeping up his neck. an almost confused arousal joins the haze in his eyes and ghost smirks beneath his mask

looks like metal shows aren’t the only thing the punk is new to

Aegon is a shortie, Cole can and will always pick him up and cradle him to comfort his poor boy😭

he's just a little guy with a lot of big feelings and his dad loves him very much and hates to see him upset, so you know he'll always be there to hold him together. doesn't matter if Aegon is 5 or 10 or 15 or 20, he'll always be there for his boy.

Aegon was at peak cuddling age at like 13/14 in my mind. like he loved to be cuddled when he was little, but he wasn't as desperate and in need of it until he was older. so always asking for hugs or to be carried around when he was 5 aged into needing a good long cuddle everyday or his mental health would plummet. and as he got older cuddling just got more and more intense cause he'd sorta latch onto you and you couldn't move, if he wasn't watching something he was practically buried in your side completely, wrapped up in s blanket, insisting on being held onto all the while. sometimes he'd cry or get really quiet, and it soon became clear that this was just how he decompressed, that he had a hard time letting it all out on his own. (2 things to sorta give some insight on my HCs that make it even sadder: this kid was born touch starved and it never really went away even after Criston stepped up as his dad and Alicent healed from Viserys. All of the TargTower kids are some sort of neurodivergent, or at the very least, odd for lack of a better term. Aegon in the sense that he's very sensitive emotionally to things, almost reaching the threshold of "too" sensitive for his own good, but is disconnected from his feelings and can't process it on his own, so it tends to bottle up without clear "reason" or intent on Aegon's part. good thing his family loves him so much, cause he needs their help)

so Criston is so used to it at this point it's really become natural. if Aegon isn't around needing to be best hugged (with the little rocky motion, you can't forget the rocking) or straight up held, he's worried. plus, who would dare to not want their kids to want their love and affection forever? it's as good as it is for Aegon as it is for Criston.

poll time! stewy is most often portrayed as an only child in fics, but i'm curious to see how widespread that hc is. the appeal of the only child hc seems to be making him more of a foil to kendall/the other roys, who are eternally caught up in their sibling war. but of course, in the sibling show, the other side also has stuff to offer to.

i've also noticed a smaller trend of fics showing stewy being raised as an only child, but technically having siblings that he didn't grow up with for whatever reason - age gaps, half siblings, family estrangement, or death of a sibling are some of examples i've seen.

end of march is crazy for writing like i have a 1.5k essay im doing today and tomorrow, a 2k word essay im doing wednesday and a 1k word research proposal im doing friday. and in the remaining week of the month i am WILLINGLY going to finish taob (~10k OPTIMISTICALLY) and make a solid start on tams (~5k-10k depending on how well writing goes). like yes girl write around 20k words worth of MULTIPLE PROJECTS in a handful of days there is no way this can end badly at all
