Return of the Skeletor
A family reunion. Find more Skeletor stories here!
*
Micah remembered the other world.
Most people could, in fact. The whole planet was affected. They’d all lived a life they thought was perfect. They’d all imagined something intangible. The memories were faded and fragmentary, like the recollection of a dream, but everyone was certain it had really happened.
Even if nothing that had happened was real.
At first Micah didn’t realize anyone else had shared in the dream. He’d lost track of time on Beast Island long ago, and when the collapsing portal closed around him he only assumed it was one of the despairing wasteland’s many tricks. He never had long to dwell on the matter, either. Soon after finding himself returned to reality (he could remember shouting to Angella, reaching for her, trying to tell her “I’m not dead!”) Micah had met the loud and unusual Princess Entrapta. And after her there came…
“She-Ra! It’s She-Ra!” a nasally voice shrieked.
Micah was startled out of his reverie by a sudden clattering of hooves. The door to his Bright Moon office burst inwards and he was presented with the sight of a breathless Swift Wind. Sitting astride the rainbow-winged unicorn was one of Entrapta’s bots, a lanky drone she’d named ‘Skeletor.’
“The time has come!” Skeletor said.
“It’s true!” Swift Wind confirmed. “I felt the sacred bond return just a minute ago. Adora and the others are back from Eternia! Darla is over the Whispering Woods right now!”
“What?” Micah jumped to his feet, abandoning his desk without a second thought. It was covered in a mountain of paperwork: royal records, his regent’s duties, and the calendar pages where he’d marked off every day since Glimmer and the rest of the Princess Alliance left for their dangerous mission to another universe. He rushed to the door where Swift Wind was standing.
Skeletor reached out and helped Micah onto the horse’s back. “Join hands as we bring together our mystic powers!” the robot cried. Once Micah was settled, Swift Wind turned and leapt out the nearest window. They sailed through the skies.
“What’s going on? Are they all right?” Micah asked, with undisguised worry.
Swift Wind banked, soaring over the tree line. “I’m not sure! The ship is under control but — look, there it is!”
Darla, the rebuilt First Ones ship, was descending rapidly from the sky over the treetops. Her flight was steady, but parts of the hull were damaged, and smoke trailed from one wing. Suddenly the ship lurched and plummeted into the trees, vanishing from sight. A plume of vegetation went flying as it plowed to a smouldering stop.
Micah felt his stomach twist. “We need to get closer!” he called out in a panic.
“I can take you there!” Skeletor declared, urging Swift Wind toward the ground. They touched down by the edge of a long path of smoking destruction that stretched deep into the woods.
“They must have landed near here,” Skeletor deduced, observing the massive trench in the ground. He hopped off the horse’s back and ran ahead, making anxious utterances as he went.
Micah dismounted and walked beside Swift Wind. “I hate this,” Micah confessed. “The staying behind, I mean. At least on Beast Island I was the only one I had to worry about, and I was in control of my own survival. But having to stand by while Glimmer goes into danger? I’m so proud of her, yet I’m also so scared.”
“I know what you mean,” Swift Wind answered. “I trust Adora, but I also worry about her, like, all the time. Whenever we’re apart I get so restless. I just feel powerless!”
“Sometimes letting them find their own way is all we can do,” Micah mused.
They came into a clearing in the woods. Darla was there, sparking and steaming but generally intact. Skeletor hammered on the door.
“Here, let me try to get you out!” he called.
Something inside the ship made a noise. There was a hiss and a jet of steam, and Skeletor tumbled backwards, landing with a squawk at Micah and Swift Wind’s feet. They all stared at Darla, holding their breath expectantly.
The front hatch of the spaceship popped open. Entrapta erupted out of it, tumbling down the landing ramp in a ball of frizzled hair. She pulled her goggles up.
“Aha! We made it!” she crowed, taking in her surroundings. “All in the right dimension and everything!”
She reached into the recesses of her hair and emerged with a haggard Hordak. “Your piloting saved us! I knew you could do it!” she told him proudly.
Hordak squinted through half-lidded eyes. “Is it over?” he muttered. “Are we still alive?”
“Yep!” Entrapta wobbled to her feet and gathered her partner up in her ponytails. “Now, let’s get you a checkup and some rest. You’ve had a stressful voyage!”
She suddenly seemed to notice the gathered onlookers. “Oh! Hi Skeletor. Hi Bird Horse. Hi Micah. Guess what? You’re gonna love this!” Entrapta turned back to the ship. “Safe to disembark, crew!” she yelled, before trotting off with Hordak.
“Now we’ll see how clever you are!” Skeletor said.
Mermista peeked around the door. “Ground!” she cried, throwing herself across the dirt in relief. “I never thought I’d miss you so much!”
“Oh, it wasn’t that bad a flight,” Sea Hawk cajoled, helping her to her feet. “Why, I can think of a dozen — no, two dozen more harrowing trips I’ve taken in the Dragon’s Daughter XXVIII.”
“You fishmonger,” Skeletor scoffed.
Frosta was the next one out, followed closely by Perfuma and Scorpia. “Eternia was amazing!” the teenaged ice princess announced, brandishing a pair of frozen fists. “I got to punch so much stuff!”
“Come on, it wasn’t all violence,” Perfuma pleaded.
“Yeah, we learned a bunch about friendship and responsibility too,” Scorpia agreed.
“Punch! Punch!” Frosta said.
“You’re becoming evil, I can sense it!” Skeletor hummed approvingly. “Excellent!”
Catra and Adora came next, and they were accompanied by a young man Micah had never seen before. He had a pink shirt, bobbed blond hair, and bore an uncanny resemblance to Adora herself. A sword hung on his back. He blinked as he emerged into the light.
Swift Wind’s jaw dropped. “Adora! Is that…?”
“Hey guys!” Adora grinned sheepishly. “So, funny story. You remember how when I was a baby I was taken from a hidden First Ones faction that nobody has ever been able to find since?”
She held her hands out, presenting the newcomer. “Well, uh, we found ‘em! This is my twin brother, Adam!”
Adam smiled and waved. “Hello everybody,” he chirped.
“Brother?” Swift Wind sputtered.
“He-Man!” Skeletor bellowed.
The group fell into a chattering commotion, but Micah was hardly paying attention. Glimmer and Bow had appeared at the top of the ramp, holding each other as they looked out. Emotions that went beyond words swam in the young queen’s eyes.
Adora saw where Micah was looking and quickly pulled her brother away. “We’ll tell you the whole story later, sir! Trust me, it’s hilarious. Now come on, I gotta show you around Etheria, bro.”
“Sure thing, sis,” Adam replied, grinning hugely. They pounded their fists together, adding their own sound effects as they did so, and marched off laughing.
“They have been doing that the entire. Trip. Back,” Catra groaned, following close behind the pair. “Somebody save me.”
“You furry coward,” muttered Skeletor.
At the entrance to the ship, Glimmer and Micah hugged each other fiercely. When they finally broke, the old king could see that his daughter was smiling through her tears.
“I’m so glad you’re here,” Glimmer sniffled. “So much happened. You wouldn’t believe how scary things got! Oh, but I totally had everything under control.”
“I know you did,” Micah smiled back. But he could tell there was more.
Glimmer’s face turned serious. “Dad,” she said shakily, tripping over her own words. “Listen. Entrapta’s theories about the other dimension were right. When we — I mean, didn’t know if…”
Bow stepped in. “Your highness, I think there’s someone you should see.” He beckoned gently. Still at a loss for words, Glimmer nodded and took her father’s hand, leading him inside the ship.
Micah’s heart was racing even before she rose from the chair and turned to face him. His breath caught when he saw the spreading wings, the shining light, the smiling face that he remembered so clearly.
Their eyes met. It was a miracle.
Just like on the island, a part of him couldn’t believe this was really happening. But it was.
They both reached out. They’d mourned each other once. Their hands met.
“Micah?” she asked, hardly believing it herself.
“Angie?”
*
Outside, both the princesses and their well-wishers had gathered around Adam, excitedly showing off the wonders of their planet. He gazed with delight at everything, marveling in the magical light of Etheria. His laugh brimmed with kindness.
Skeletor elbowed his way through the crowd. “I can’t let any of you delay me! Out of my way, now!” he jabbered. “This is no time for jokes!”
He made it to where Adora stood with her brother and glared. Adam turned in surprise, not sure what to expect. They stared at each other.
Skeletor held his arms wide. “I’ve been waiting a long time for this moment!” he cried. “Take this, He-Man!”
Then he lunged forward, and wrapped Adam in an enormous hug.
“He-Man, I am your friend!”

She Ra for the ask
Spoop, lets do it:
❤ Favorite Male: Bow. Boseph Beauregard Bolton. I love Bow, although I wish he'd gotten a better arc and more things to do than being "the nice friend". But at the same time that's what I love about him. He's a good fighter, a good friend, and has a powerful heart. I love him.
❤ Favorite Female: I really struggle flipping between Glimmer and Adora for this. On one hand Glimmer got the best arc in the series, I love her tenacity and bravery and loyalty and power. She's a great character with depth and so sparkly and cute at the same time.
But Adora is such a great protagonist and I miss her and mourn the ending she was given daily. She's got a lot of flaws but is shown consistently striving to be better. She was cute learning to be a person outside the Horde and inspired everyone not by being She-Ra but by being herself. I think she's also an inspiring character. Love her.
❤ Favorite Pairing: glimmadora, you all knew that though. But I love their give and take, how much they care about and support one another. Adora saying "I'm supposed to take care of you" and "I wanna be the hero she deserves". GOD, WHAT? W H A T? HOW DO YOU NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH THEM? I'll never understand the people who literally call it gross and shit. Ugh, they're amazing, and I'll always love them dearly non canon status or not. Goals.
❤ Least Favorite Character: Catra. But tbh I used to really like her. Bad writing and the fandom really ruined her for me. Which is a big bummer.
❤ who’s most like me: mmm Glimmer probably. Me and her ready to fight at all times. 👊
❤ most attractive: Also Glimmer I 🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖💖💖💖 I just, I---
❤ three more characters that I like:
1.) Mermista always made me laugh and I love her blase attitude that hides her real feelings.
2.) Scorpia, adore her. I found her a little grating at first but god did she grow on me. Her good heart, her unconditional love, and her growth into standing up for herself to true abuse from someone she cared for dearly. That's so hard. Scorpia taught an amazing lesson and was truly one of the bravest characters in the show.
3.) I only realized how much I loved Angella after she was gone. And how fitting yknow? Glimmer probably felt the same. But I honestly think Angella was such a great example of a mom in media. Everything she did came from a place of trauma and love for her family. She wasn't JUST mom, she got to be a character. She struggled and failed but in the end proved that she was also brave and willing to do the right thing if it meant protecting the ones she loved. And I really appreciate how much Glimmer took after her in that regard. Miss her.
Thank you for the ask!!

the unfortunate part of spop is the only really good seasons are s1 and s4. I mean the others had their moments. S5 had scorfuma and catradora, but aside from that there’s like a lot that disappointed me and also they ruined glimmer.
I’ve been watching spop since it came out, so I had to wait between all the seasons and theorize about plot points and a lot of those plot points they just. Dropped. and characters that they ruined.
Me on SPOP characters from S1-S5 and how i think they deserved better
the first I’m gonna talk about is sea hawk because if you actually think about him, like really analyze his role in the series... it gets a little messed up. like first of all, mermista acts like she hates him.
mermista openly dislikes sea Hawk. She says “ew who let him in here” and excludes him from the Hors d'oeuvres. she cancels her plans with him at the drop of a hat to hang out with other friends. She pushes him away constantly.
I know that technically she’s supposed to be like, a tsundere or something but here’s the thing. Sea Hawk is shown basically harassing her. He throws himself onto her lap and she has to push him off, pursues her when she sounds annoyed about and just overall? Yeah, I know they’re supposed to be in love or something, but the way it’s written? it really doesn’t set a good message for the young fans who watch it.
it’s one of those “oh! This girl acts really disgusted and annoyed at this guy— must be in love with him!”
And secondly... sea hawk’s role in the show is like really empty. I mean, so is Mermista’s. I feel like we don’t really get any moments with mermista where we get to see her like, be really strong. not in the powers way— we do see that. but I mean most of the time it seems like they’re treating her as a joke character. we don’t see her connect with anyone, or have any meaningful feelings. glimmer gets to have a full season being an asshole and sad and mermista gets an episode to eat ice cream in a bathtub.
Also, when mermista is mourning the fact the horde took over her kingdom, sea Hawk gets him and bow kidnapped and makes her rescue them. let her have some time to process it dude.
we also rarely see mermista use her tail??? which is bullshit.
and frosta, we never really get to see how powerful Frosta is supposed to be, or Frosta’s trauma. or the fact people see her as a child in spite of her accomplishments. like they could’ve touched more on that in the episode Micah tries to bond with her because Frosta clearly still has problems with it.
and also don’t get me started on Castaspella. they barely gave her anything. you know in the original she’s the one who had a relationship with light spinner? They were rivals.
she’s supposed to be the HEAD SORCERESS of Mystacor and literally EVERYONE is more powerful than her. let Castaspella kick ass! we rarely see her do magic and when we do, she fucking messed up the spell and SW roasted her for it.
and glimmer. oh, glimmer. first things first, her whole goal in S1 was to rebuild the Princess alliance, but after recruiting a couple of princesses she didn’t think to fucking grab prince peekablue? him being missing wouldn’t have stopped her! she didn’t recruit ANYONE out of the main cast.
and then in S4 she turns into a huge jerk. I know she’s mourning and all, but that doesn’t give her the right to basically tell Adora she’s worth more to them dead than alive. Adora already feels that way, and her trusted friend just said it to her face! At least catra waited until they were on opposite sides of the war.
and she never actually apologizes to Adora in a meaningful way. I’m pretty sure she’s wronged Adora more than Bow considering she ruined her relationship with Adora in s4 like entirely and Adora’s trust in her, but sure. She needs to ask adoras advice on how to apologize to a ~man~
and poor Adora. Catra is the only fucking person who cares about Adora, aside from angella. why does no one else care about Adora?
honestly character-wise, a lot of them went downhill.
now let’s talk about Perfuma. I liked the whole “scorpia missed on purpose” thing, but I really want Perfuma to kick ass when she said friendship was her greatest strength. I wanted her to fucking prove it. I wanted her to get all glowy by being with her friends and kick prime’s ass a little. she deserved it. Scorpia could still miss on purpose but let perfuma genuinely kick ass
also I didn’t like that adoras arc as she ra was like, false confidence and being more powerful than everyone else. like Adora only got to feel confident as she-ra and didn’t have a good moment as just. herself. like I wanted her friends to accept her without she-ra, to remind her that she-ra isn’t the reason she’s their friend. ESPECIALLY glimmer, who needed to honestly rebuild that friendship.
and honestly I think Glimmer needed to learn Adora isn’t a tool in that way. I think she kinda forgot Adora is a person.
and I know the point of she-ra is to be stronger than everyone else but you know what I thought was gonna happen to restore magic?
I thought all the kingdoms and all the princesses would stand up to horde prime and the princesses would all show up to the fight, with the big showdown. Either at prime’s command or their own accord. And I wanted them to start glowing by fighting side by side, like in the first season but bigger. we get to see Scorpia glow and everything. and I wanted them to create an enormous rainbow wave that wiped out horde prime and restored magic. that would’ve fucking sweet.

After community service is done and Hordak has no assigned work, or evil space emperors to return to, and is free to choose his own projects to work on, he loses direction and becomes listless. No one is telling him what he should do and he hasn’t quite mastered the art of deciding things for himself, so he has no direction anymore.
Entrapta fell in love with him while they were working on the portal together, back when he was driven, and enthusiastic about science and technology. Now he’s not the same man she fell in love with and she feels the “spark” has gone out of their relationship.
One night, while at Brightmoon for [reason], Micah makes a comment that Hordak is ungrateful and doesn’t know how good he has it. Even if he’s purposeless and the passion has gone out of his marriage, he still gets to see the woman he loves every day. Micah never even got to say “goodbye” to Angella. Now she’s stuck between dimensions thanks to Hordak’s portal and Micah doesn’t even know how to mourn because he doesn’t know if she’s alive or dead, or whatever.
It’s like a lightbulb for Hordak.
He and Micah were never friends before (with their history it would be hard to imagine), but Micah has just given him a direction, a project, a purpose. He will build a new portal -a stable one this time- and rescue Angella!
He’s driven again, and he passionate, and it’s all science, and technology, and theoretical physics, and lines mortals were not meant to cross, and Entrapta is there for it. She’s excited and into him again, and it’s like they’re both ten years younger and falling in love all over again, and it’s great!
Hordak and Entrapta, together with Micah do rescue Angella.
But Glimmer’s an adult now. She’s married, and ruling as queen, and doing a good job, and she doesn’t really “need” her mom anymore.
And Hordak and Entrapta now have this cool tech that jumps between dimensions harmlessly without ripping holes in the fabric of reality like the original one did.
So, the four of them decide to just hop from dimension to dimension, seeing how things played out differently in each universe.
It’s the never ending couple’s brunch at the end of the universe.

ADORA PACES, glare fixed on her boots. She takes six steps towards the fountain, pivots, and takes six steps towards the bed. And she reiterates the fact, once more, that Glimmer insisted that she wanted to have some time to herself. Adora is being a good friend ( not a stubborn friend ) and respecting her wishes. Even though it doesn’t change the fact that she really doesn’t want to be alone right now.
But this isn’t about her. It’s about Glimmer. And she’s gonna be fine. They’re all going to be fine. It’ll just take... time. Yeah. Time. But this is war... and there is never enough time to mourn anyone in war. Adora sighs. Bow’s always been better with comfort and support and-- and words. She wishes Bow was here. But a week passed and he said he needed to check in with his dads. As he should. If Adora had a family, she’d want to see them right now, too.
Pacing, pacing, all this pacing isn’t helping. Adora sighs, sits cross-legged in a patch of sunlight on the floor, and tilts the sword of protection in her hand, watching light glide around the rune stone embedded in the hilt. Who would have known that it would end up being the ‘key’ to the entire planet? What else was it capable of? Adora could go to Light Hope with these questions. But last time she went to Light Hope…
Tumblr media
Adora sets her sword down, buries her face in her hands. It was one thing, being told that she would have to hold Etheria’s fate in her hands. Fighting the Horde. ( Catra ) Trying to hold the planet together when she could barely hold herself together was something else entirely. The whiplash of her past crashing into her present. Watching her friends vanish like ghosts. Free falling, staring through the palms of her own hands as Etheria nearly shattered into nonexistence. What if something like that happens again? The shoulder pads in her jacket might be durable, but they aren’t nearly enough to cushion the weight of her responsibilities. Especially now that they’ve lost the Queen.
The wound is still fresh. Hurts like hell. Crushing the heels of her palms against her forehead, she focuses on the trickling sound of the fountain, letting it wash over her thoughts. They rise anyway, threaten to drown her, so she takes Perfuma’s advice next. Inhale a deep breath, hold for one, two, three… and release. Her eyebrows twitch in concentration, she tries another breath… and another... until the only sounds she’s capable of making are all wheezy and stressed. This is worse than the pacing.
She drops her hands in her lap with a defeated huff and her eyes snap open to ensure the sword is exactly where she left it. Seeing it there, idle and sparkling in the sunlight, makes her visibly relax. Ever since they returned to Bright Moon, she’s had trouble letting it out of her sight. More trouble than usual, that is.
Adora hasn’t gotten much sleep.
Can’t let it fall into the wrong hands again. Not ever. And if she wasn’t fretting about the sword, if she actually managed to sleep, then something else would come for her in her nightmares. Light Hope’s tinny voice beckoning, preparing to tie the golden strings of destiny around her neck like a shiny noose. Adora knows now she would answer the call if it was absolutely necessary to keep everyone safe. She would have given her life, trapped herself between dimensions.
The sword was a bright pinprick of light, like a single guiding star in the vortex, and the solution was finally clear. Before she could reach out for it, before she could fix things, the Queen took her place. The Queen saved them. Queen Angella. The warmth of the sun on Adora’s skin reminds her of their embrace, of being sheltered under her wings. Soft, protective hands brushing against her spine… Adora had never truly known a mother’s touch until then. After that, she was powerless to do anything but watch as fate slipped through her fingers like water.
Take care of each other. Adora pushes down the urge to check on Glimmer for the umpteenth time. Glimmer was there for her when she joined the rebellion, indulged countless sleepovers when she admitted to having trouble sleeping alone, kept her grounded as the world fell apart. Now, Adora has to wait and be there for Glimmer when she’s ready. Giving her the space she needs is important, too. She… she just lost her mother. Adora accepts that she will never get to know what that feels like. Not really. If the ache in her own chest is any indication, it has to be difficult. Piled on top of that are the responsibilities she has to bear as the new queen of Bright Moon.
❝Glimmer...❞ Adora whispers words Glimmer has already heard from her, so many times. ❝I’m so sorry.❞
