i just want to know if anybody else on tumblr is taking health and social in college because i am, and today we had to fix our feedback except (this isn't me bragging.. i promise.) i didn't have any, and i am literally never in lesson - i always waffle, but like maybe it's cause of all the extra explanations and definitions??

i love alphys. i love when women suck *
(* this is a deliberately obtuse statement for humor's sake. alphys is smart and inventive and she has a unique perspective of the world, allowing her to achieve things that not even gaster could have dreamed of attempting. she feels as though she has to follow in gaster's footsteps, an impossible, daunting role. but she doesn't. because she is a completely different kind of scientist and her research and accomplishments are just as monumental as gaster's were. she doesn't need to continue a dead legacy--she's creating her own.)
(above all else, alphys wants to help people. she wants to do good things and make life easier for those around her. when it comes to her lying to frisk and setting up all those "challenges" throughout hotland, i think she was so overcome with guilt and self-loathing that she just... wanted to feel like a hero. even if only for a moment. even if it were staged. everyone looked up to her as a hero, and she let them all down. and she needed something, anything, to hold onto at this point. [of course her priorities are completely out of wack but i think her irrational selfish decisions and actions and all the mistakes she makes help her feel more real.] and then... she let another person down, didn't she?)
(she spends so long running from any sort of accountability but she stops. digs her heels in. she turns around and faces the enormity of what she has done. the scene in the true lab where she tells everyone, "it's time to go home." is one of undertale's strongest moments. she understands that admitting to her lies and attempts to hide does not mean she'll be forgiven. she's not doing it to seek out that forgiveness and relieve herself of guilt; she's doing it because it's what's right. even if it costs her friends and loved ones. even if it's scary and hard and hurts more than hiding away forever.)
(i hope to see her shine again in deltarune at some point. i suspect we will. she is the high school teacher, after all. because she's a fundamentally good person, she undoubtedly cares deeply for all of her students, and that care and concern for their well-being will likely be what causes her to stumble into the mess that's brewing just beneath hometown's prim, boring surface. i look forward to getting to know her again in this new world, because she is a very, very well-written character and one of my favorites. *)
(** also she sucks)
