really want 1 pc of merch for every band i love like im trying to build a collection of band shirts; so far i have swans, godspeed you! black emperor, ratatat, rage against the machine, radiohead, the mars volta, lingua ignota, kittie, photay, cocteau twins, type o negative, 311, my chemical romance, mutemath, sublime, the klaxons, several screamo bands from my emo/scene days (alesana, blessthefall, drop dead gorgeous, chiodos, craig owens, the devil wears prada, i set my friends on fire), and my next target is
Tumblr media Tumblr media
at the drive-in which unfortunately considering they were an indie-label post hardcore emo group that broke up in 2001, there are not a lot of merch options </3

@thoseeyeslikefire tagged me to do this fun thing! thank youuu 🥰 i love talking about concerts hehe
First, Last, Next and Favourite Concerts!
first concert:
i count this one as my first because it was the first concert i went to without my parents. it was alesana, emarosa, a skylit drive and bury tomorrow in 2010. i don't remember the actual concert i only know it was hot as fuck and i remember painting my friends' (two emo boys) nails black in a pub before the concert 😅♥️ oh and i got a picture with shawn (thanks to my friend) 🥹
last concert:
i was at rock for people festival a month ago! i went on my own which was scary af but i had the best time. my top 5 of the festival: sleep token, heriot, architects, slipknot and stray from the path. also saw bury tomorrow after 13 years! landmvrks and lorna shore were great too.
next concert:
sleep token at the end of the month 🥹🥹🥹 not much to say here. i can't wait to see them again and cry and fiiiinally hear vore live 😭🖤
favourite concert:
oh man.. i'll do a top three. and they're all architects concerts haha 🖤 the very first time i saw architects was 2011 in germany with bring me the horizon, the devil wears prada and tek-one. what a lineup right? 😮‍💨 sam playing the drums with tek-one and then joining bmth for the sadness will never end were the highlights for me. it was so good. and i met two tumblr friends there 🥲
second one is when i saw them in prague with touché amoré and rise against in 2012. it was an arena concert because obviously rise against are huge or at least were back then and i feel like almost no one there knew touché and even architects. i got to the barrier just because i promised one couple i would leave before rise against start playing lol. i bought touché amoré totebag that i still use to this day and jeremy himself sold it to me. he was so nice and he matched my awkward energy hahaha ♥️ during architects set i screamed my lungs out. dan came down after their set and gave me the setlist and i broke down lol.
my favourite one must be when they played rock for people in 2012 though. they played all my fav songs at the time (follow the water, numbers count for nothing, these colours etc) truly a masterpiece of a setlist and they were just amazing. it was hot as fuck and i almost fainted but it was so worth it. i got to talk with tom for like ten minutes. he was the sweetest soul. he made sure i was feeling better and then he signed my album and got everyone else in the band to sign it too. also got a picture with him (again thanks to my friends) 🖤 t//s forever 🖤
idk who to tag so pls feel free to do this and tag me when you do because i love concert stories 🥰

SeeYouSpaceCowboy - Coup De Grâce
FFO: ALESANA, PANIC! AT THE DISCO, 2000s METALCORE / LISTEN
Back in 2019, coming hot off the heels of their debut LP The Correlation Between Entrance and Exit Wounds, Connie Sgarbossa spoke of the bands shift in genre; "We made our point, and now we're moving on. No more sasscore, we're a metalcore band now". SeeYouSpaceCowboy have been steadily evolving with each release ever since their first demo, and I wonder if Connie would rescind that statement if she were to repeat the same interview today, as this new album is arguably more sassy and less metal than they have sounded in a long time. Thus is the beauty and paradox of the SYSC experience; always changing, yet always sure. No matter what new territory they explore, the band always executes their ideas with a searing sense of confidence. This is who I am right now.
Coup De Grâce is more of a complex tear down and rework of the bands sound than it is a direct step forward. Bits and pieces of their previous recordings have been ripped apart at the seams and sewn back together like Frankenstein in a corset. I swear it's not as ugly as it seems. Sure, metallic riffs and panic chord breakdowns are still present, but they are interwoven with elements of dance punk and indie rock that keep things feeling suspiciously lighthearted. There is much more emphasis on melody as a vessel for the totality of each song this time around, to the point where I was actually surprised to hear Connie take the back seat on some of these songs to really give the floor to Taylor's clean singing. Instead of haphazardly injecting pop choruses into mathcore songs, the band have flipped the formula on it's head, and now breakdowns almost feel like an afterthought. In fact, if I have one gripe with this album, it's that the band often sounds like they are on the fence; keeping one foot in the moshers yard while clearly gazing toward more playful pastures. The ending of "To The Dance Floor For Shelter" is one of the few moments on the album where the breakdown actually felt necessary following Courtney LaPlante's emotionally potent vocal feature. This is not to say that the heavier moments on this album don't work, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the band pushing themselves even further away from the metal influence in the future.
There is something so thematically alluring about this record, whether it's Connie's lyrics - dancing with themes of intimacy at the after party - or the hazy jazz club pieces where singer iRis.EXE sets the stage for a tragic night of massacre at the cabaret. It's very clear that the band wanted to craft a story and convey a very specific vibe on this record, and they nailed it. There is blood on the dance floor, and we are all caught in the crossfire. The influence derived from Panic! At The Disco's A Fever You Can't Sweat Out is especially apparent here, both in the lyrical approach and the undercurrents of sugar coated emo-pop energy. There's even a point in the chorus of "Sister With A Gun" where the vocal melody is a clear nod to "Lying Is The Most Fun…". It's a mixture that is quite unique, and I think working with producer Matt Squire is exactly what the band needed to push themselves out of their comfort zone and execute their vision on a much larger scale without feeling awkward or disjointed.
A coup de grâce is a mercy killing - a death blow to end the suffering of a severely wounded person or animal. It's a dark thought for an album that is sonically so lustrous and full of life, but therein lies the magic of the record. It's a fun, imaginative post hardcore album wrapped in a cloth of cinematic tragedy, ready to welcome you in with a warm embrace, and a knife in the back.

Of course I’m late to this, but I’m just now on my laptop to do it. I was tagged by @spicycal @5sosofficial and @notinthesameguey and once again this was hard af. I think I’m probably missing some albums, but this is a rough outline of my faves throughout the years.
Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime as the best concept album to ever exist. This lineup of Queensryche was the best one, and everything after this was just meh. Such a shame.
Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane; or one of the first albums I bought with my own money, it speaks to me on another level, it is incredibly sexy and sensual and dark with an (un)healthy dose of existential dread. I only skip Sunday Morning tbh, too chirpy for me. Secret, tho...
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor. Hearing this album for the first time almost 13 years ago was... an experience. I remember hating the opening track Born, because the guy I liked (and hated his taste in music) posted it on Hi5. It was too thrash for me, but my, oh, my, how the tables have turned. There’s no skip. My heart literally beats out of my chest whenever I play this one and the lyrical content is right up my alley. My Acid Words, Sentient 6, Sell My Heart For Stones. So good. RIP Warrel Dane :(
All Time Low - Put Up Or Shut Up is one of those bitches. I came into the fandom right before the release of Nothing Personal and I remember liking almost all of their songs, but somehow this EP remained so special to me. It reminds me of a youth I never truly experienced but I also did, if that makes sense. Also love teenage Alex’s voice <3 (and Flyzik’s backing vocals on some songs)
Alesana - The Emptiness. By now you should know that I have a thing for concept albums. I already loved their previous work, but it wasn’t done right. When The Emptiness came out, I was blown by how polished it sounded. Still think that they were one of those bands that were overlooked and too easily labeled emo like it’s a bad thing.
Incubus - Monuments and Melodies.I realize that this is a compilation, but it’s also one of my most played Incubus albums. It’s missing a few songs to make it the perfect compilation, but it’s still so good, especially part 2.
5SOS - Youngblood. It was hard to decide whether I add Calm or YB, because Calm doesn’t have skips, and YB has Lie To Me and Woke Up In Japan (which I usually avoid), but it comes down to the fact that YB has more songs, and more songs I’m personally attached to (YB, Talk Fast, More, Meet You There, Ghost Of You), unlike Calm (Thin White Lies).
I’m adding a few honorable mentions, just because: Placebo - Battle For The Sun, Opeth - Damnation, Paramore - Brand New Eyes, A7X - Avenged Sevenfold, Aghora - Formless, The Used - Lies For The Liars, BMTH - That’s The Spirit, Architects - Holy Hell, Post Malone - beerbongs & bentleys, MGK - Hotel Diablo
Tagging @cccatz @sadistmichael @tigerteeff @twilightmomentswithyou @pxrxmoore @cashtonasfuck @krindy33 if you haven’t done it yet and want to :)) Here’s the link.

Artist Name: Snow White's Poison Bite
Genres: Post Hardcore, Horror Punk, Emocore, Pop Punk, Screamo, Punk Rock, Hardcore Punk, Metalcore, Alternative Rock
Similar Artists: Get Scared, Blitzkid, Aiden, Misfits, From First To Last, These Hearts, Famous Last Words, Farewell My Love, Alesana, Wednesday 13, Murderdolls, My Chemical Romance, Black Veil Brides, Modern Day Escape, A Smile From The Trenches, A Vain Attempt, Avion Roe, Mindless Self Indulgence, Creature Feature, AFI, Drop Dead Gorgeous
Bio: Just in time for Halloween! This isn't exactly and obscure artist but still a little bit unsung in the scemo/scenecore community in my humble opinion. Snow White's Poison Bite is the baby of Allan Jeremy Cotterill, known best by his stage name Jeremy 13th. Jeremy was born in the UK but moved to Finland when he was six years old. There he met Juuso Puhakka (screamed vocals), Tuomo Korander (lead guitar), and Teemu Leikas (drums) and formed the band all the way back in early 2006. In 2008 bassist Jarkko Penttinen joined. All lyrics were written by Jeremy 13th. Together they released their first demo in 2008, self titled featuring four songs of emotional intensity, beautiful fairytale-themed lyrics, passionate energy and cruel, chaotic riffs.
Snow White's Poison Bite signed a contract with a record label called Poko Records in early January 2009 and released their first EP, "Drama Through Your Stereo". The sound was a little more pop-punk friendly but still held all of the passion and emotive qualities of the previous release. It's a fantastic EP worth checking out if you find it online. Also in 2009 (May) opened for Alesana in Helsinki. Juuso left in late 2009 because of personal and musical disagreements. The band continued into 2010, signing with Sound Of Finland to put out a fun, catchy, campy album called "The Story of Kristy Killings. The Story of Kristy Killings sorta tells the story of a girl named Kristy. She kills people. This album is like a mix of the 2010s post hardcore/metalcore sound with Michale Graves era misfits infused in it's veins with some killer singles like Valentine's Doom, The End Of Prom Night, and of course Kristy Killings.
On May 5th, 2011 Tuomo, Jarkko, and Teemu left the band and forced the band to cancel their remaining tours. Jeremy 13th was the only remaining member. In 2013 the new lineup signs to Victory Records and puts out "Featuring: Dr. Gruesome And The Gruesome Gory Horror Show." The reviews for this album were favorable, still being a fantastic mix of post hardcore and pop punk with that horror-edge to it. This is probably the band at it's most campy and that's not necessarily a bad thing. The songs are all very catchy and fun to listen to, and a great soundtrack for an emo-punk kid's Halloween alongside AFI, Alkaline Trio, or Aiden. It's a charismatic release and worth a listen. The song Zombie Romance actually features Michale Graves from the 90s incarnation of the Misfits, which I personally find pretty freaking cool.
Unfortunately the band officially disbanded in 2018, but is being succeeded by a project of Allan Cotterill's called TH13TEENTH. Allan also had a solo project under his full name where he released a song called The End Of You And Me (Riley), which was also pretty good. If you're interested in what Allan's doing these days, go take a look at TH13TEENTH, but definitely DO NOT skip out on Snow White's Poison Bite. The efforts, hard work, and sacrifices of Allan, Tuomo, Jarkko, and Teemu bleed right through the stereo when you put any of these songs on. This is a solid recommendation from me to you, especially this time of year.

Day 546, 1042:54, 2029-2042
2029. Perfect Future - Old Wounds: Warmth in the Winter of 1914-1915 - OK historical emo. Can’t really sing, little bit pretentious in presentation.
2030. Within the Ruins - Omens - I only have the Kansas cover, it’s what you’d expect. They dropped a lot of the flair that I loved in the original, like the keyboard responses to the guitar and the vocal harmonies. Cool concept but not executed well enough.
2031. Minus the Bear - Omni - Funk-informed rock. Super bright, I dig it.
2032. The Get Up Kids - On a Wire - Sounds older and restrained, which is really cool.
2033. Neutral Milk Hotel - On Avery Island - One of my regrets about high school and college was that I wasn’t very open-minded about music. I consumed a lot, but only in very specific corners. Neutral Milk Hotel came up often when I was at Hofstra and I never gave it a chance until this project. On Avery Island is more 60′s sounding indie/folk. NMH gives off the impression of being smart people. Some cool effects on this record. Check it out, bop your head.
2034. Alesana - On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax - This still RIPS. It’s easy to see how someone could relate this record to Saetia. Not directly, but it’s in the low-scream/high-scream dynamics and quick transitions between parts, some of the octave riffs, things like that. I have no idea where some of this other stuff comes from though. Pop-punk leads with metalcore progressions and rampant double bass. I love the near-constant triple vocals, all leading different directions. I actually don’t have this album in full but I wish I did. I also wish Alesana had continued like this. Where Myth Fades to Legend pulled back to a more conventional center, The Emptiness was underwhelming, and that’s as far as I made it.
2035. Zola - On Histories of Childhood - This is one of those garage-quality emo records I mention. Tight twinkle.
2036. The Mountain Goats - On Juhu Beach - At this point, I think a few of The Mountain Goats’ releases were unnecessary, and this is one. The songs are ok but could have just been put on other releases.
2037. Circa Survive - On Letting Go - I’m not a huge fan of that spacey guitar sound that’s become their signature tone but Circa does it better than anyone. This jams.
2038. Emo Side Project - On Looking Up By Chance At The Constellations - What a pretentious emo concept to write an entire album about. The tracks blend and bleed and it’s like an hour long song, which would be ok if it didn’t come across so whiney. The whole thing is like that part in an American Football song where it’s time to end but they’re going to play the same riff for two more minutes because that’s what they do, and you swear they’re doing it just to spite you but in truth they don’t care, you already bought the ticket.
2039. Bag of Bones - On Letting Go - Long Island, if I remember right. Twinkly emo for college underclassmen.
2040. Converge - On My Shield - The song is tight, I remember wondering if this was an album so I could listen to more of it.
2041. Billy Boy on Poison - On My Way - There was only one Converge song. Remember the iTunes single of the week thing? Someone at Apple like Jet, I guess.
2042. The Sun Hurts - On the Cliff, By the Sea - More garage emo but really cool. Nothing incredible technically but all together it works well. I think the chorus on “Strong Donk” makes me think highly of the rest of the record. In my defense, it’s a hell of a chorus.

I don't know why, but I've always liked these.
100 Things About Me
1. What is your full name? Kimberly
2. How old are you? 23
3. When is your birthday? 12/12
4. What is your zodiac sign? The charming and witty, Sagittarius
5. What is your favorite color? Blacker than my soul
6. What’s your lucky number? 12 (look at my birthday!)
7. Do you have any pets? Two wonderful cats, Fuu (Fuu Kitty) and Archer (Archie)
8. Where are you from? Connecticut
9. How tall are you? 5′8"
10. How many pairs of shoes do you own? Like 10, but I wear 3-4 of them regularly
11. What did you last have for breakfast? Scrambled eggs and cold brew coffee
12. What was your last dream about? The last one I remember having was one in which I was in my high school cafeteria. For some reason everyone in my high school was invited to this wedding (don't know whose), and we all decided to get dressed at school. Now mind you, this took place in my high school but in the present day, meaning we were all adults. When I looked around, guys and girls were putting on their outfits, doing their hair, and doing their makeup. All the parents were there getting ready too. I remember getting upset because my parents brought the wrong dress for me. They brought the dress I wore to my cousin's wedding a few years ago, which is a beautiful dark blue gown. I was upset because I was afraid the dress would rip because of all the weight I've gained. (The dress actually did rip in real life when I wore it to my step-aunt's wedding a couple of months ago; causing me to have to borrow someone’s dress for the rest of the night). So after some complaining, I convinced them to stop back at home so I could get a different dress, and that's when I woke up.
 13. What is the best thing about you? I always try to see the best in everyone, even if they've done me wrong.
 14. Put shuffle on your iPod, what were the first 5 songs?
      1. Part II - Paramore
      2. ARTPOP - Lady Gaga
      3. Dancing in Circles - Lady Gaga (really?! 2 in a row?)
      4. But It's Better if You Do - Panic! At the Disco
      5. Comedy of Errors- Alesana
15. Favorite song? It typically depends on my mood, but the one that is most constant is “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga. It’s pretty much the perfect song because a. it’s fun to sing along to, b. it’s fun to dance to, c. it has beautiful lyrics with a powerful message about self-love and self-acceptance, especially for the LGBT community.
16. Favorite TV show? Game of Thrones, by fucking far!
17. Favorite movie? the Harry Potter series
18. Do you miss anyone right now? I miss my Sammy and I miss my friends who I don’t see nearly enough
19. Do you want children? I think so, but I have promised myself that I won’t have kids unless and until I work out my anxiety issues because I don’t want to pass this along to yet another generation in my family.
20. Do you want a church wedding? Nah, I’d probably burst into flames up at the altar.
21. Are you religious? Nah, I like Satan jokes too much.
22. Have you ever been to the hospital? The last time I remember going was when I was 6 and needed 10 stitches on my head.
23. Have you ever met any celebrities? Sadly, no. I hold out hope that I’ll meet Lady Gaga.
24. Baths or showers? Both! I only really like baths when I have a bath bomb/bubble bar, though!
25. What color socks are you wearing? None.
26. Have you ever been famous? Nah, I don’t have the charisma or personality to handle that much attention.
27. Would you like to be a big celebrity? Nah, I like my privacy tbh.
28. What type of music do you like? Lady Gaga, Paramore, emo/screamo that I’ve been listening to since middle/high school, occasional radio hits
29. Have you ever been skinny dipping? No :/ I totally should have when I was home alone when I lived at my parents’.
30. How many pillows do you sleep with? Two! My favorite is when I can lay my head on one, and hug the other one.
31. What position do you usually sleep in? I usually sleep on my side (fetal position)
32. How big is your house? Our apartment is a decently sized one-bedroom
33. What do you typically have for breakfast? Eggs or rolled oats with fruit
34. Have you ever fired a gun? Nope!
35. Have you ever tried archery? No, but it sounds cool
36. Who is your celebrity crush? Lady Gaga cuz she’s actually perfect
37. Who do you look up to? Lady Gaga, because she isn’t afraid to be who she is and inspires others love and accept themselves. She is an extremely talented and accomplished musician, but retains such a humility and love for her fans. So basically, as I said before, she’s perfect.
 38. What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without sleep? 22 hours. When I was a high school senior, I got hooked on World of Warcraft, and I would do raids until 2 am (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays), and then wake up for school at 5 am. Thursdays were the worst.
39. Do you have any scars? On my forehead from the 10 stitches I got as a child, and a few on my face from the chicken pox.
40. Have you ever had a secret admirer? I don’t believe so.
41. Are you a good liar? I’m good at white lies (“I love that new haircut!”) but suck at lying about things that actually matter because I’m really bad at hiding my feelings.
42. Are you a good judge of character? For the most part.
43. Can you do any other accents other than your own? I like to pretend I can do a British accent, but it’s not all that.
44. Do you have a strong accent? Nah lol, just standard New England.
45. What is your favorite accent? British, Irish, Australian
46. Name all the countries you’ve been to? Not as many as I’d like! I have only been to Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and I took a cruise as a kid that stopped in Aruba, St. Martin, and St. Thomas. So basically, I’ve been around the Carribean.
47. What is your most expensive piece of clothing? I don’t know, haha. I’m too broke for expensive clothes, I’m a grad student.
 48. Can you curl your tongue? Kind of.
49. Are you an innie or an outie? Innie!
50. Left or right handed? Right, my left hand is useless
51. Are you scared of spiders? Yes, I hate all of them.
52. Favorite food? You can never go wrong with pizza
53. Favorite foreign food? Thai food is heaven.
54. Are you a clean or messy person? I can be messy with clothes, but for the most part, I’m a neat freak. I get anxiety if things are too dirty around the house.
55. Most used phrase?  “I’m too tired for life......”
56. Most used word? “Fuck”
 57. How long does it take for you to get ready? Probably like 30-45 minutes on average. I varies depending on how long my shower is, how much make up I’m trying to wear, what I’m doing to my hair, and if shaving my legs is part of the process.
58. Do you have much of an ego? Most of the time I tend to be very hard on myself, so I’m gonna say no.
59. Do you suck or bite lollipops? Don’t eat many lollipops nowadays, but suck!
60. Do you talk to yourself? All the time! I’m a great conversationalist.
61. Do you sing to yourself? All the time! Every car ride is a concert just for me.
62. Are you a good singer? I’m not too shabby.
63. Biggest Fear? Failure, rejection, judgement.
64. Are you a gossip? I can be. I enjoy talking about others, but many times it’s not in a negative way. For example, if I’m worried about someone who isn’t really saying much to me, I may ask another friend what’s going on with them because I’m concerned...not cuz I’m trying to talk shit. I guess I should get better at direct communication, tho.
 65. Favorite character in anything? Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, ASOIAF
66. Do you like long or short hair? I like both, but I’m digging my ultra long hair right now cuz I had short hair for so long!
67. Can you name all 50 states of America? Probably, just don’t ask me where they all are on the map.
 68. Favorite school subject? English/literature all the way!
69. Extrovert or Introvert? Too introverted to handle.

75. Have you ever started a rumor? I don’t think so.

 89. Do you like your age? It’s okay. I’m getting old, though.

92. Have you already thought of baby names, and if so what are they? I’ve had many thoughts throughout the years. I’ve always been partial to gender neutral names like Alex, Riley, Andy, etc.
93. Do you want a boy or a girl for a child? One of each would work.
94. If you had to have someone narrate the story of your life to you when you died, who would it be? This is an odd question, honestly, I’m not sure.

True emo discourse blog coming soon
The only purpose of this page is to truly patrol Fake emo and to call out this extremely inacurate and misleading copypasta that was written by an obvious normie with a primative entry level understanding and knowledge of true emo. "'Real Emo' only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene." Absolutely fucking wrong. 1. If the implicating is that Emo is exclusive to the DC scene that was happening in the 80's, and that emo is EXCLUSIVE to that region on earth, then no. Emo may have had its inception there but anyone who truly knows emo knows that the genre quickly spread EVERYWHERE, even outside of the US to other continents. The second implication is that real emo is exclusive to the sound that bands were playing in those early days (e.g Rites of Spring, Embrace, Moss Icon etc etc) and no, absolutely fucking wrong. Emo was a genre that once planted its seed quickly grew and evolved. Which is why the band "After words" sound different from rites of spring, which is why the band Chino Horde sound different from After Words, which is why Indian Summer sound VERY different from rites of spring etc etc etc. TRUE emo has different sounds from the mid 80's sound to the 90's distinctive sound that you hear from bands like Cedar of Lebanon and Don Martin 3. People will try to argue that emo has evolved to inlcude bands like the get up kids and american football and to that I say "Yes it has, but it does not include those fake emo bands. Bottom line is that Emo is far from being exclusive to DC in the 80s. 2. "The late 90's screamo scene?" what the fuck is this? this is how you know that the person who runs "memelords against furries and fake emo" is a complete entry level normie. The page does nothing but Dickride bands like Orchid, Pg 99, loma Prieta, Suis la lune, city of caterpillar etc etc. While they are good bands, these guys are VERY late in the game. Orchid and Pg 99 literally play an evolution of screamo (screamo being an evolution of emo) that's more screamoviolence than pure screamo (again, because they were very late in the game). Loma Prieta are even LATER in the game and the shit they play has twinkle riffs everywhere (twinkle riffs are the bane of emo and are a clear signal of fake emo) Loma prieta do play screamo, but a very far evolved version of it. And suis la lune get the fuck out of my face, their music is so goddamn post rock influenced (albeit really good) that to note them as examples of pure EMO is asinine. The point is that the copy pasta wants to imply that Emo only consists of that 80s DC shit and the "Late 90's screamo scene" which is beyond fucking inaccurate because as we established, all those "screamo" bands that we mentioned are fucking late as hell in the game. Screamo started in the early 90's and was extremely prevalent in the French Hardcore scene, and when you actually listen to those bands (Jasemine, Anomie, Fingerprint, Ivich etc etc) you see that their TRUE screamo sound sounds MUCH different from Pg 99. THESE are the true screamo bands they are the TRUE EMO. Whoever wrote the copypasta literally knows hardly anything about screamo and is under the impression that "screamo" started late in the 90s and that is so fucking goddamn off. Bands like Orchid, Pg 99, Tristan tzarsa, iwrotehikus are to Screamo what I Hate Myself are to Emo. And Speaking of I hate myself, most of their music is Fake emo. THe only real emo song I've heard from them is the first track on "Four Songs". Bottom line is that all those screamo bands technically are screamo, but they are NOT what "true emo" or the "true screamo scene" is exclusive to. Far from it. So everything else this copy pasta goes at stems from this dude literally thinking that bands like Pg 99 are the true emo sound, which they aren't. Like how they say that real emo is HATEFUL. The distinction between Orchid and a pure emo band like Breakwater is so obvious that any normie could notice it. Characteristics of emo Yes they do include Hatefulness sometimes but True emo Sounds passionate, beautiful, melodic, Raw, Fast or slow, just pure and intense but still rather subtle and elegant as pretentious as that might sound. (like I said, emo has lots of different sounds and has many different feels) But yes, it's true, that whole "post emo" movement, the "midwest emo" shit, the "twinkle mathy" shit, and fucking the "emo revival" ALL OF THAT IS FAKE SHIT. ALL OF IT. I personally love bands like Mineral, SDRE, Get up Kids, Elliot etc etc but they aren't true emo. They have a slight influence but they don't like post harcore, they play stuff that sounds extremely light and poppy. But I'm going to say this now FUCK midwest, FUCK twinkle, FUCK "emo revival" which is the cringiest shit I've ever heard. These same people will try t say that calling bands like alesana and MCR 'emo' is fallacious yet they believe in the "EMo revival" which is the fakest emo you will ebver fucking get. Bands like American football are literally akin to fucking dashboard confessional. The fact that people will call American football an emo band is so fucking beyond even having the slightest bit of intelligence. Anyone who knows what emo is knows that it's a HARDCORE GENRE. Bands like MCR and ALESANA and THE USED (at least when they were starting) sounded an INFINITELY MANY times more True Emo than American football EVER WILL. The fact that american football get any fucking correlation to emo leaves me speechless. The fact that in any possible way AMERIcan Football can lumped in with the term "emo" let alone "REAL emo" is just, i have no fucking words. I've been on Fake Emo Patrol since 2014, and everytime I come across a get up kids or promise ring or american football video I always see way too many comemnts about emo, and I'm always happy to call y'all normies out and patroll fake emo. But ever since this shitty copypasta came out, now normies think they're on emo patrol and that they know what they're talking about. So now I have to deal with Posers who say that American Football are emo, AND I have to deal with posers who say that "ReAl EmO OnLY CoNsIsTs of TheE DC sCeNeE and the LaTE 90s ScReAmo ScEnE" fuck off. Shit makes me not even want to patrol anymore because all I ever see anywhere are normies who don't know what they're taling about. TRUE EMOS KNOW. We are the ascended ones. Whe watch you from above. We Stay rooted in the late 80s and the 90s, ascending gracefully to Emo eden through the sounds of true EMO bands. WE ARE THE ENLIGHTENED ONES, WE KNOW THE BEAUTY OF LIFE. I will continue to be chief of emo patrol, but this might be my last official statement or patrolling action. It's become something beyond me to bother with. there's no need to hope for humans to understand true emo, there's no hope in educating "memelords against furries and fake emo" Perhaps one day you will ascend (I personally was once like you, believing that emo meant SDRE, AF, orchid, Funeral diner, Lovelost but not forgotten) but for now, I won't bother anymore Share the fuck out of this Let my words be heard LONG LIVE TRUE SCREAMO Edit: I totally forgot to talk about Capn Jazz, lmao I'll keep it simple. Listen to a true emo band like Vanilla or Anasarca and then listen to Capn Jazz, I think it will all be clear.
