Also thinking about William giving Killer Evan a hand-stitched Fredbear suit, similar to his old hand-stitched Spring Bonnie (ie Glitchtrap) suit. Perhaps Evan’s suit is made from extras of the same material.

He wants to show Evan that he doesn't have to be afraid of anything anymore. He can turn his fears and frustrations and worries into his own creations, his own power, his own strength. He tells Evan that this is the only way to purge his weakness.

cassidy surviving william's attempt on her life and swearing revenge as a very alive and very angry grade schooler sounds like an interesting plot point

flkdsjfl;jsdlkfj, it does! I'm just not 100% sure where she'd fit in. The AU's primarily Mike and Evan trying to sneak around Will while repairing their relationship under the most... awkward (understatement) of circumstances. Although....

Another idea I had involved Mike becoming obsessed with studying the paranormal and supernatural in order to learn how to help Evan as best he can. And given the time frame*, this got Mike labelled as a satanist by the people of Hurricane and made him even more of an outcast than he already was. Some even began gossiping that the Bite of '83 was him sacrificing his brother to the devil.

This ties back to Cassidy, I swear.

So, let's say Cassidy survives the attempt on her life and vows vengeance on Will. Not so easy for a teeny kid. And maybe she tries to tell her parents or someone that the man in the bunny costume tried to kill her, but Will is charming and charismatic and manages to convince people that the attempt on her life was simply the result of her overactive imagination. Poor Cassidy gets away with her life, but everyone assumes that she was either lying or getting worked up over nothing and trying to get poor Mr. Afton in trouble.

So she starts keeping an eye on the Aftons, and that's how weird, gloomy, secretive, supposed demon-worshipping Michael catches her eye. She notices that he skips school a lot, never socializes with anyone, and aside from checking the library for things that make suburban moms clutch their pearls, never really leaves his house. She also notices that he and his murdering dad aren't exactly close. It's a risk, but she decides it might be worth trying to figure out what his deal is in order to get the evidence she needs to prove that William is a murderer.

#*a moral panic during the 1980s that consisted of over 120000 unsubstantiated cases of ritualistic abuse #sorry if this is a bit jumbled I literally only thought of it bc of this ask #and kind of blurted it out #but I like the idea of Cassidy (eventually) being brought into the Afton bros' secret #another thought I had was that since Michael obviously knows about ghosts #and that they can possess animatronics #he'd put 2+2 together and realize that Charlie's in the puppet #which would of course lead to him sneaking her into his house too #and so Michael's and Evan's social circle expands from being just the two of them #danke shoen for the ask!#in Ever After I made Mike about 3-ish years older than Evan and Elizabeth #and I imagine Evan and Cassidy are the same age or at least very close #in Ever After I made Mike about 5-ish years older than Evan and Elizabeth #so imagine a 10 year old Cassidy stalking 15 year old Mike trying to figure out if he's a murderer or at least knows murder-y stuff #meanwhile Mike's just very confused by this little goblin who's suddenly started showing up everywhere he goes #and trying very very hard to make sure she doesn't find out about Evbear #Evan's kind of amused by the whole situation and curious about this kid Mike's mentioned once or twice #the reason the blurb about Mike being obsessed with occult stuff was bc in my head Cassidy goes goth as she grows up #so I was gonna say something about how they kinda click and form a weird rapport #but I kinda lost that train of thought up there #ask #anonymous #Evbear AU

Please do not turn the music box on. It.. it messes with my programming, shutting me down completely. I know upper management will probably tell you to do so, but... but... just. Please don't.

It's scary. I'll be in complete control one moment and gone the next. I don't know what's happening, I... I can't see, and I can only barely feel and hear. I'm stuck in my own mind, all alone, and I don't know what's... it's..

It's what he used. When he hurt them. He turned my music box on and he hurt them and I couldn't save them because I was incapacitated and I can't let that happen again I just can't!

I'm. I'm scared that the next time it's turned on during the night, I'll... assume the worst. Because it's happened before. And if it's some innocent person, some innocent nightguard... well.

I'm made of metal, and humans are very fragile. I'll act without thinking twice about it because I'll assume you're him and I'll try to hurt you because I can't let him hurt anyone else.

Ghost in the Machine

This is the master post for Ghost in the Machine links, character refs and FAQs.

I will try my best to keep this post as up to date as possible.

What is Ghost in The Machine?

GITM is a DCA AU and a fic set in the retrofuture (2055ish) long after Fazco has shut down. An eccentric collector has been acquiring versions of the Daycare Attendant animatronic from closed locations around the world. The story involves a reader character who has been brought into repair the original post-Ruin DCA from the games, and hijinks ensue. There are also ghosts.

Where can I read the fic?

GITM is currently being posted on Ao3, and is updated every three weeks on Saturdays. The fic is being beta'd by the tremendously talented @bubbiethesaur. You can read GITM here!

FAQ~

Why haven't you answered my GITM ask?

One of three reasons: 1) your ask was too spoilery* 2) I'm waiting to answer it with art 3) ADHD

*spoilery includes but is not limited to: any questions about dual-AI or XYZ character's sun/moon variant; questions about character backstories and lore; questions about characters that have not featured in the fic yet (e.g Nova, Sanii, Harvest, Sunflower, Sandman etc); asks speculating about potential future scenarios (don't get me wrong, I love these asks, but I can't answer them!)

Where are all the Moons?

Read and find out. Seriously. There are at least 5 Moons who are core to the plot but I'm not going to talk about them, no matter how nicely you ask!

Does XYZ character have a Sun/Moon counterpart?

Some of them do, some of them don't. The dual-AI stuff is majorly plot related. If I'm not talking about someone's Sun/Moon counterpart, rest assured you will find out eventually. I won't be spoiling any of it on tumblr though :)

Can I create fanart of GITM?

Yes yes yes please do and please tag me when you post it so I can see it/reblog! If you are unsure if something is ok, please ask.

Can I create fanfic of GITM?

Super flattered about this. I have a longform answer to this question which you can read here. But tl;dr yes you can, please tag/credit me, do not spoil/try to write the lore, and please do not write GITM au (e.g mafia, mer, medieval). I have my own plans for this stuff and I would prefer to release the designs/stories in my own time. If you are unsure if something is ok, please ask.

Do you have character refs I can use?

There is a collection of art 'refs' for each character on the Misutamojis discord. Latest link here.

There are no proper call-out sheets/refs currently, but I have a huge body of art for the characters on this blog which should give you more than enough info for most of them. I will get around to creating proper refs eventually, in which case I will link them here.

Where can I find the playlist?

I update the spotify playlist fairly regularly, if you have any music recs you can send them over in an ask! You can listen to the playlist here!

I've heard there are secret GITM drabbles, where can I find them?

I used to post frequent drabbles from future chapters in the DCA Palooza discord, I have recently deleted the majority of them as people were going back and binging them which hadn't been the intended reading experience. Anywho, this question probably refers more to the spicy drabbles (which people have very kindly made a lot of delicious art for). These are still around! You just need to access the spicy channel and do some digging.

Is there a GITM discord?

Nope! There is a server for GITM emotes and a busy thread in the DCA Palooza, but currently I don't have any plans to make a GITM-centric discord community. If that does happen in the future it's likely I will simply convert the emotes server (Misutamojis).

i think i might rewrite the fundamental background lore of Dire Consequences and change it from "Mike hears the Freddy's building is haunted and goes to investigate, is confused about Evan's presence because it's not the building he died in."

I think "Michael goes to investigate Fredbear's, but it's not really an investigation because he doesn't actually think there's a ghost there; the only person who died at that location is his brother, and Ev wasn't murdered and stuffed into suits like all the other ghost kids Mike has seen. Mike performatively goes to the building because it feels like it's something he should do now that he knows ghosts exist, but he doesn't actually think Evan has any reason to be one and so is blindsided by his brother's presence" works better

#could also potentially explain why evan doesn't appear to be attached to any animatronic #since evan wasn't a murder-and-stuff case #as much as i like the idea of evan being forced to perform and sing and dance inside the animatronic #even as he's screaming for help and no one comes to help him #then the building gets shut down and when mike comes it turns into #1) evan was forced to perform happiness for other's sakes and now michael is the one taking that position #2) evan being desperate for REAL happiness after that performative hell and latching onto mike/happiness/autonomy #after said performative hell when he sees mike again #now he's singing and dancing and playing games because he WANTS to. not because he has to.#dire consequences au
