Random TF 141 + friends headcanons (Pt.2)

Warnings: none

• Soap makes amazing pancakes. There are many videos of him trying to flip them over and failing, but that's not the point-

• Speaking of, Farah has so many vids that can be used as blackmail. She can never catch Price or Ghost doing something dumb enough for it, but the others are unfortunate victims

• König loves butterflies. Most bugs freak him out, but he finds them beautiful and peaceful. At the same time he loves bees, he really does, but he's really scared of being stung (even though it has never happened before)

• Roach, being true to his name, finds bugs really fascinating. He owns at least one metal pin of a roach that's for sure. The others also often gift him little things resembling insects

• Alejandro and Rodolfo used to sit on the roof and watch the stars together a lot as kids

• Gaz really likes swimming, especially when he can do it in the sea

• The team has UNO nights where the table ends up flipped over regularly (usually by Alejandro)

• Soap shouldn't be taken to the cinema because he talks through the movies. All. The. Time.

• Farah is really clumsy in heels since she never needed to learn how to walk in them. She'd rather die than try though. Meanwhile, Valeria could run and kill a man without ever worrying about falling or breaking her ankles

• And honestly? I think Gaz would rock the heels too, if only after a little practice

• Ghost finds sharks fascinating, especially the aspect of how many people are scared of them when they are mostly harmless

• Soap, Gaz and Alex really enjoy the Deadpool movies, they often quote lines at each other

• Graves is a Backstreet Boys enjoyer (honestly can't blame him)

• Rodolfo adores those little, fluffy white dogs that look like rats whenever they are bathed

• Put Soap in a dance circle and he's going to make a fool out of himself, but somehow slay at the same time

• Alex likes drawing tattoo ideas that he wants to get later, or simply just feel like making. Doodling calms him

• Farah takes zero shit (like Gaz), so when there is a banter with someone it can quickly turn into a heated argument or some firm words from her

• Price is a certified McDonald's hater. Calls it fake food and complains about the quality and taste constantly

• Ghost likes horror movies and laughs at them, but only when they don't have some specific scenes (I don't think I have to elaborate)

• Soap has random shit on him all the time. Once he pulled out a lollipop from his vest and started eating it on the heli towards a mission

• Most of the team plays Hay Day. They are on each other's friend lists, but Rodolfo is the only one who actually helps the others

• Alejandro builds his farm like he would in real life and tries to make it realistic, while Rudy does the same. He cares more about the cute animals though, he probably has like 10 dogs and cats

• Gaz tried to get Price to play, but he cut his whole career short because the Captain started to get obsessed and wouldn't put the phone down

• Soap always brags about how good his farm is, meanwhile Ghost quietly sits in the background with like +30 levels on him. He often plays when he can't sleep so he's ahead of everyone

• Alex and Farah kind of bond over the game, they have one shared account because neither of them spend too much time playing. They often have childish arguments over things like where they should put certain decorations, but always end up finding a compromise (Alex lets her get away with a lot in this sense)

turns out to have 15 lines of dialogue for a character you have to actually write for them…disappointed and surprised. anyway — here’s five lines from my three most enjoyable to write kiddos!

1. “Bugs in chocolate. It’s a thing, isn’t it? With the FDA? Thou shalt not have more than ‘x’ number of bug bits in every chocolate bar?”

2. “Well, let’s see,” she starts, pausing to pluck an olive from the bottom of her empty martini glass. “I’ve spent the last five years working for a covert terrorist organization without knowing it. My best friend — the only person I have ever trusted with my secrets — was somehow working for that covert terrorist organization without me ever clocking it, and her mother? Well, now I have her breathing down my neck asking me where her daughter is and why I never paid attention to the ‘multitude of red flags waving in my face’. Her words, not mine. Does that answer your question?”

3. “Is it treason to say you’re tired of Captain America? It feels like treason. I’m not going back to the Raft.”

4. “You’re gonna give me a heart attack, you know that? You’re gonna kill your mother.”

5. “Oh, haha. You’re an ass, you know that? Certifiable.”

1. “How come you always think that’s the reason, huh? That I’m jealous? Maybe he’s just a dick.”

2. “I don’t think I can be better than this,” he finally admits, his voice wobbly and thick. “I don’t think I can.”

3. “What? No, Grandma, he didn’t have to—he was just making sure I got in okay. It’s fine. See? I’m fine.”

4. “I miss him,” he rasps, sucking in a shuddery, hiccuped breath. “I miss her, I miss Lily—“

5. “I do feel better now that you’re here.”

1. "No stingrays," Ryan conceded, his answer met with a disappointed stare. "Got stung by a jellyfish a couple years ago in Costa Rica, though."

2. “I haven’t been sleeping well,” he said eventually, frustrated with himself and Mark and the absurdity of it all. “It’s nothing. Just stress. Not sure if you’re aware, but this isn’t exactly an easy job. Or fun, for that matter.”

3. God, he didn’t even know. It had been a long time, and Ryan had done about as much as he could to block out the memory of his own skin burning underneath the end of a cigarette. The smell had been unbearable. “I don’t—I was a kid.”

4. “I’m gonna kiss you again,” he said. His breath ghosted over her lips. “If that’s okay.”

5. “Hey,” Ryan said after a while, rolling his head towards her. There was a playful kind of gleam in his eyes. “Tell me again how brave and heroic I was.”

Made Marion Development Update, October 2023

Robin Beta and Early Access Cometh!

Happy spooky month, everyone!

Our excellent news for the month is that we are on-track to release Robin's route in early November as targeted!

Are you ready to storm the castle?

As of today, I have 1.5 scenes left to code in Chapter 3 (by far the longest chapter). I'll have the chapter 4s ready by the weekend of the 28th, when I'll start the full Robin beta.  I'll give the beta at least two weekends (especially since the first is Halloween weekend), so as long as Steam certification goes well I will be releasing Early Access before November 15.

Anybody who has pre-ordered Made Marion will be able to download and play their copy when Early Access releases. I will announce an exact release date once our beta client is ready and we're certified for Steam (I wish to release on Steam and Itch at the same time). I will extend our special pre-order pricing for a couple weeks after Early Access is available as thanks for everyone's patience.

This Early Access release will contain Robin's route only, but it is Robin's complete route. Once it is released, there will be no major plot changes (only minor edits if anybody finds bugs or typos that were missed in beta). The only additions in the future will be some minor cut-ins and a few secondary character plot sprites that are currently silhouettes (there will still likely be some silhouette characters in the final version, but some characters who play a very minor role in Robin's route have major roles in other routes and will receive sprites). I am confident that the first release of Robin's route will be fully enjoyable to early players, with the complete story and all major graphics, sound, and all CGs included!

hey! i found your blog and got into sebchal quite recently but you are so right about the max @ charles / charles @ seb comparisons because i was just thinking the exact same thing (imagine my surprise and joy at the validation)

the way max looks at charles with the sort of heavy intensity that implies that charles is the only person alive for him atm is literally exactly how charles looks at seb. as a lestappen enjoyer it hit me extra hard cuz i was rewatching vids from suzuka and went like “huh this looks familiar”

Can't say I watched Max too closely around Suzuka, but Charles was being certifiably insane about Seb again like 😭😭 Like lbr by own admission he hates bugs and things but he's 120% invested in the bee hotel all of a sudden?? Looking at Seb with big doe eyes?? He's down bad and it's so obvious 😭

Maybe that was the shift, because I swear, even for someone who's not a Lestappen, doesn't follow any major fan accounts or tags or anything like that, there was just... so much mainstream unhinged behaviour from Max towards Charles in the last few races of the season?? As soon as Charles started qualifying and finishing in the top 3 again and was within reach Max just started vying for his attention again 👀 Maxsplaining, calling him over because he "saved him a spot," bringing up past events and anecdotes related to Charles/both of them.

as a certified tragedy enjoyer something that bugs me about posts that are like “tragedies aren’t about evoking x, they’re about evoking y” is that people engage with tragedy for different reasons. some people enjoy it for hope in the face of awful circumstances, some people enjoy it for the catharsis of seeing just how truly bad a situation can get, some people enjoy it for the drama of watching someone’s flaws lead them to ruin. and of course that can be generalized to all genres as well. this isn’t a particularly profound statement but it’s good to remind yourself that part of media enjoying is recognizing that people enjoy the same media as you do for different reasons and that isn’t necessarily the wrong way to do so

#there are definitely ‘wrong’ ways of engaging with media imo #but that has more to do with blatant misinterpretation than finding it compelling for different reasons #also you can find different kinds of tragedy compelling for different reasons #breaking bad is a great tragedy for showcasing the logical extreme of western toxic masculinity #eskew is a great tragedy for finding hope amongst the horrors #i enjoy them both just in very different ways!

last of the sarkorian impressions (so far) under the cut. minor spoilers for the act 2 mission.

ulbrig is. mechanically very strong especially if you manage to get him pre-defender’s heart fight, but right now i cannot see myself using him once i get my my usual party in act 3

i can see how his personality would be enjoyable but right now i’m just kinda...meh on it. maybe that will change with more quests or with a different kc.

so far i’ve gotten no camp banter between him or any of the main companions and only a couple of direct interactions with another party member (nenio at leper’s smile, regill at reliable redoubt)

(he’s had reactions to stuff, but for the most part they’ve felt largely isolated.)

i’m hoping to god the zero camp banters between him and the base game companions is a bug.

similarly the main companions don’t interject on the dlc mission i have done so far which is a certified feelsbad moment when i have the shaman, the resident kooky wizard and the cleric in the party. they’re just kinda there. i get the focus is on ulbrig but even in inevitable excess they had comments here and there. their interjections would’ve made it feel like they’re part of an actual travelling party. where is sosiel comforting ulbrig. where is camellia interjecting about the spirits.  where is nenio being nenio.

overall i’m not crazy about this dlc so far (oof) which makes me nervous bc i’ve yet to have a wotr dlc that i’ve really enjoyed. i’m really hoping the amount of integration/reactivity steps up in acts 3-5.

Oh! Character designs can absolutely look edible, once my friend designed a monster that looked very edible, and I told her about it and she was a little baffled.

It's all about the texture presented, the proportions, the shape language and such- also less humanoid characters tend to look more edible (both in design and in personality, the more lucid bugs in hollow knight are a bit less edible cause they're people and you don't chew people (unless you're siblings then it's free game <== guy who chewed on his siblings hair growing up).

For example the White Lady has absolutely fantastic texture (she looks like a weird mushroom tree) but she has a bit more humanoid proportions and an absolutely rancid personality that she is disqualified from being edible

This all may be a me thing cause I was a chronic chewer as a child and chewed on everything I could get my teeth on but hey, I just think edibility of a character should be considered when designing them.

(it might also link to the fact that I'm hungry all the time but let's not get into my eating issues)

Anyways when I got into an argument about hollow knight edibility with my sib I argued on the favour of the tiktik cause it's animalistic, round, and has fantastic texture, while my sib unknowledgeable in character edibility argued for the maskfly, cause it looks and acts like a bird would in the real world , completely ignoring how thin it is and the lack of meat on it's body (also it's wings look weird and leathery, I don't think it would be enjoyable texture wise).

Listen there is a reason why everyone in their fics writes tiktik being used as food, team cherry may not realise it but they designed the most edible bug

Character designs while needing to be a little less humanoid do not need to resemble a real world animal to achieve edibility

Sorry for this deranged rant I have just wanted to tell someone for a very long time

i used to chew on my shirt & suck on my arm until i gave myself hickeys as a kid so i am also a certified Chewer.

i looked up tiktiks & maskflies and i'd have to agree with you. tiktiks are way more chewable. they're like gummies or grubs or something.

anyway i think i get it now, its about the SHAPE language its about the TEXTURE. sometimes you see a creatures and want to pop them in your mouth or boil them in broth that's just human nature
