The thing about Janeway/Chakotay/Tuvok is that they’re probably my favorite Star Trek poly ship, but I don’t even know if I really see them actually dating. It’s more like they’re constantly almost dying in each other’s arms, giving each other long meaningful glances as they prepare to execute whatever their most recent ridiculous plan is, and seeing each other as their only remaining source of support but reminding themselves they can never get too close, all while exhibiting off the scale levels of sexual tension with each other.

Voyager needed a real command triangle
Okay, this is long, but bear with me.
This gets me everytime. Janeway thinks that if nothing physically intimate happens with Chakotay, then there won't be any problems with her decision making. Which is total bunk. They obviously both care about each other, even if you think it's not romantic (but come on of course it is) which causes issues when it's crunch time. She tends to take his disagreements with her personally rather than professionally, and he lets his feelings get in the way of removing her from command when she really, really needs to be, both for the sake of the ship and for her.
So here's where Tuvok comes in. He's Janeway's friend, but able to distance himself emotionally and be logical (as long as he's not melding with Suder). So when the top two are having a fierce argument, bring in Tuvok as the tie breaker. Janeway doesn't absolutely have to agree with Tuvok's decision, but she'd be getting more than one perspective. Also, Tuvok ought to be able to step up and in dire situations, relieve one of them of duty. This would be really juicy for Tuvok, so there'd have to be specific rules for it so he didn't relieve his commanding officers every episode, but it would solve so many issues. For instance:
Scorpion: Janeway wants to make a deal with the Borg despite everyone else in the room, including Neelix, questioning if this idea is even remotely sane. Chakotay has a neato spider story, but this goes nowhere with Janeway. Enter Tuvok with an idea that would somehow include a little of each of their POVs without all of the crew possibly dying.
Equinox: Janeway's gone so far over the edge that even she realizes it by the end of the episode. The situation becomes way too personal for her. So Chakotay should have relieved her of duty, looong before she got to the point of nearly executing a prisoner. Making sure the captain is in proper shape is part of his job. Instead, he lets himself get relieved of duty. Enter Tuvok who knocks some sense into Chakotay about the captain clearly needing a break from the non-stop commanding thing that would do anyone in. They get the Doctor involved, relieve her temporarily of duty and get her some meds and counseling (which they all need) and figure out some logical steps to take with the Equinox crew. Tuvok could also make sure he's got Janeway securely trapped behind at least two force fields.
Same thing for when Chakotay goes off the rails and Janeway doesn't notice. We see how it works in the last season or so when Tuvok and Chakotay team up on her to prevent her obsessive need to sacrifice herself. Chakotay and Tuvok could have been working at supporting the captain the whole show and she could have had two good counselors for every weighty decision instead of doing it all on her own. And she and Chakotay could have had a decent romance.
You're welcome, Voyager writers.

I'm rewatching Endgame right now and I've completely forgotten the way Admiral Janeway couldn't even talk about Seven when someone from Starfleet Academy brought it up:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it's not that Admiral Janeway hasn't had a life, her crew is home and is her family and they've stayed in contact.
Almost everyone's lives have flourished. B'Elanna is the Federation liaison to the Klingon Empire, and so it seemed is Miral.
Except for Tuvok and Chakotay.
Tumblr media
Tuvok's mental illness has progressed to the point he could barely function and Chakotay died the same year this happened... And it feels like Chakotay's death was Admiral Janeway's impetus in going for this plan.
A world without Seven of Nine is a world neither Chakotay nor Admiral Janeway accepts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I first shipped Janeway with Chakotay and was so frustrated when Voyager ended and Janeway/Chakotay never happened when it was so obvious on both their sides.
And then I shipped Janeway and Seven but I could never accept Chakotay/Seven not only because it felt shoehorned but because they barely spent time together but to Jeri Ryan and Robert Beltran's credit they did what they could selling it.
For a first real-life relationship, Seven could do worse than Chakotay. He was respectful and did seem fond of Seven by the time they started dating and was ready to follow Seven at the pace she set.
But I've also come to believe the reason why they were together is because they couldn't be with Kathryn Janeway. In this alternate timeline, I believe Seven and Chakotay did come to love each other enough to marry but also there's an element of guilt involved with Chakotay after alt!Seven died because the person he also and still loved was Janeway. But guilt on Chakotay and Janeway's side prevented them from ever becoming something more.
I also believe Admiral Janeway loved both Chakotay and Seven and didn't want to choose, and their getting married is the safer choice even if it broke her heart because that meant she didn't have to choose and commit.
She'd rather have them both near and alive and untouchable, and in the end, she lost them both.
Honestly, Janeway didn't need to choose.
Anyway, Janeway's time travel adventures might be why my favorite time travel stories are the ones where future versions meet the past versions.
But also the first time Admiral Janeway sees Seven of Nine again, after two decades of not seeing her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Hello, Seven."
Admiral Janeway looks like a sailor who hasn't seen the sea for years, or a traveler crossing the desert who has stumbled into an Oasis.
Also, Seven looks so awkward she didn't know how to deal with two Janeways in close proximity to each other.
Please, she's just a poor confused ex-Borg drone taking the smallest steps toward romance.
I do love that amidst this we have scenes between Tom and B'Elanna and how they both called Voyager home. They're the most low-key OTP and I kind of love that for them.
But also, I do love that Admiral Janeway gets to spend a few moments with both Tuvok and Chakotay.
Tumblr media
This moment when Captain Janeway muses on the strangeness of witnessing her future self talking to both Tuvok and Chakotay
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And not knowing how precious this moment is to Admiral Janeway that she can be beside Tuvok, working and still in possession of his mental faculties, and Chakotay laughing and full of life.
Part 1, 2, 3

I genuinely love how terrible Tuvok is as a leader. The two times he's in charge the people under his command try to mutiny against him. Chakotay has to threaten to beat people up for the Maquis to go back to his lessons and the only reason Harry Kim didn't start a mutiny is because Kes got him to change his mind about going back to get the captain. He was literally like one second away from being forced to walk the metaphorical plank.
Tumblr media
They just wanna talk Tuvok :) Neelix literally said it best in 'Learning Curve'
Tumblr media
The theme of him being too rigid to lead a wide variety of people is so interesting. I assume that as a security head it's easier because you're supposed to be able to unemotionally carry out tasks...there's a certain personality I'm sure that gravitates towards that line of work and perhaps that personality is the kind that Tuvok works well with but I find his claim that he's 'never had an issue' with teaching others before in Learning Curve to be him being oblivious to those issues. In 'Repression' the Maquis crew are all talking about how they can't trust Tuvok because he's a traitor and there's no real push back against this. No one brings up anything Tuvok's done to make up for this betrayal or soothe these clearly festering bad feelings because he hasn't. He's done literally nothing. This is season 7. He's spent SEVEN YEARS just letting that whole 'I betrayed half this crew' thing mellow because I doubt he even thought to do anything about it. I love this man - he's gonna get stabbed!!!
Tumblr media
Chakotay & Neelix forced to do PR for Tuvok as he just obliviously marches forth, unaware that anyone might dislike him or why he should care if they do.
#Tuvok: -Harry's holding a gun to his head- I just want everyone to know that I'm turning around because /I/ want to.#I genuinely do like this <3 It's an interesting character flaw and aspect of his personality#Especially when you contrast it with say B'Elanna as head engineer. She probably has to work with a wide variety of people#personalities and ideas and judge what's best - what to do - it's a more 'creative' job and the fact she does it so well shows that#despite what she thinks she IS good with people! At least in a familiar work setting! She has it in her!#It makes the fact she was practically forced out of Starfleet even sadder...if she'd just been encouraged more !!! AGH!!#anyway Tuvok should not be a captain in Picard and I hate that he is#it's not his personality it's not in his character it was never a stated goal of his it's stupid#not every character needs to be a captain or an admiral to show they've 'made it'#Tuvok needs to be contained to Security he needs to be in there HEHEH#oh another terrible leadership thing is his whole episode with B'Elanna#Tuvok is only good at nurturing people who want to become 'Model Vulcan' or 'Model Starfleet Officer' and only in one particular way#Tuvok#st voyager#Tuvok: I've always taught people this exact way and I've never had any problems with it#Me: X#literally the only thing Chakotay or B'Elanna can say when the Maquis crew say they don't trust Tuvok is like 'hey...c'mon man....'#Janeway isn't doing PR for Tuvok bc she doesn't think he needs it

Dating Janeway HC's
for @eunoiaastralwings requested through DMs Summery: dating janeway would be like Pairing: Janeway x Reader Reader pronouns: She/her
Tumblr media
-a Starfleet ship going by Starfleet rules to quote Starfleet Regulation 256.15: Starfleet officers shall display behavior befitting an officer at all times - which could be see as it isn't befitting of a captain to be involved with someone of lower ranking so Janeway and you would hide your relationship it was rather thrilling really
-given the captain is the captain most of the time you are in her quarters as if someone came looking for her it could be easily written off as a private meeting to discuss urgent matters and it would be rather odd if she where not in her quarters
-you don't get date nights often the closest you get is with velocity or racket ball because they can be easily written off as well or in Janeway's quarters one time Tuvok walked in and you had your arm half way up her replicator fixing it for your dinner but you both suspect the Vulcan knows and just has kept it secret
-Tom has betting pools to see who the captain will be with Chakotay, that hologram from fair haven or a alien they come across
-pet names in public neither of you are big on them as your difference in rank but alone you definatly have pet names
-Janeway would call you her queen if you where feeling down and needed comforting
-PDA is for in private and behind closed doors that's not to say Tuvok has a habit of breaking those doors by accident you are just both lucky that he is a Vulcan and he respect the captain to much to let this get out and he stays out of betting pools
-The doctor probably also knows as you consult in him quite a lot and you have made this Doctor-patient confidentiality and you threatened his program if he didn't keep is secret although he has blurted it out a few times in the captains private company
-She hates sending you on away missions every time you leave the ship you can be in danger if you come back injured she will be worried and since the doctor knows she can show it in sickbay while watching over your sleeping form
-if the crew does find out it is either to a Q or not being careful enough and ending up in a uniform switch lets just say the doctor wins Tom's betting poll and gets his 'tee time' for his golf which make you both glare at him
"Well I didn't tell anyone" the doctor said "Where's the doctor patient confidentiality if you bet on it" you snapped to him "You betrayed my trust doctor" Janeway said "I am going to delete all your singing subroutines and your golf ones" he hissed to him "No wait we can work this out without that" The doctor said holding his hands up
-you are either in engineering or the science division
-you spend your time crawling to and from Janeways quarters in the Jeffares tubes unless it is to fix her replicator then you can be seen passing in to fix it and out after you fixed it or if you are in science medical to catch her for her physicals after all starfleet captains hate physicals
-Tom teases you endlessly when he learns you are with the captain he also trys and gets you to talk the captain to approve his shenanigans which you refuse
-Neelix doesn't get the big deal about it until he is explained it by Tuvok when he is annoying the vulcan with questions
-when voyager gets the time to communicate with earth you decide to consult with data now that you have learnt the doctor is not trust worthy, data would never betray your trust on purpose and there is no way he could tell anyone on your ship although next time you call it's Riker and he is teasing you about it you sigh as data must of asked him out of confusion so now your relationship with Janeway is circling around the senior staff of the Enterprise

I just really want a Voyager episode where Lwaxana Troi shows up - maybe Q poofs her over. Maybe the temporal investigations dude is her new beau, maybe her consciousness gets sent through a subspace anomaly and shes a hologram for a while. w/e. I am just dying for this to have happened at some point.
She would flirt with EVERYONE
She would take Seven under her wing and tell her one cannot learn the deep arts of romance and sexuality from a photonic being who is still learning his own
She would sense all the complicated tension between Janeway and Chakotay and she would delight in investigating it and delving into it and poking at it.
Harry'd probably fall in love with her.
She'd probably try to fix all Neelix's cooking bc leola root offends the fifth house or something.
Definitely borrows Janeway's bathtub and then stroll around her quarters starkers while Kathryn tried really really hard to read some department briefings.
She would sit in Janeway's chair and definitely comment on how theres been like some kinda a secret command console on the other side of KJ this whole time masquerading as an armrest and she and Chakotay just share the middle one for an excuse to bump hands with eachother
Tuvok and she would just thoroughly and shockingly enjoy each other's company. bc they both old compared to all these spry young humans and they have definitey encountered eachother before like these two have gossip to swap. And they've both loved and lost love and she thinks his devotion to his wife is the damn sweetest thing and offers to go visit T'Pel for him or something
Just imagine this is after Voyager gets video calling with the AQ and Lwaxana cant help herself barging into some meeting that Barclay and Deanna are at and shocking her daughter all the way from the Delta Quadrant
