Wave and pang are so gay just like. so gay

its not even the Point. its not even Important. except it kind of is.

like? its a thai drama so theoretically if they’d wanted a bl couple they Would have made one. 

but at the same time like. Pang/Wave are literally the parallel to Claire/Punn. Narratively their scenes parallel each other, their breakup is for the same reasons, the scenes the pairs are in mirror each other, the scenes both pairs are in are Because pangwave is paralleling clairepunn. 

like we definitely have duo and trio friendships in the plot paralleling each other which are all worth noting. for SURE, we have: Ohm, Pang, Namtaan and Grace, Third, Time and Supot, Yuth, Nate. We have some duo pairs paralleling each other through the generations - primarily Chanon/Pom and Pang/Wave, but also Yuth/Supot once Nate is sick. (and there’s a whole case on its own to be made about what the fuck Chanon and Pom are and their entire relationship with its complications and tragedies).

ClairePunn is used in the storyline to parallel PangWave though. That’s a big storytelling point in all of season 2 the Gifted Graduation. Pang ultimately leaves behind his ‘trio’ he started with in his generation of friends, and long term in the story becomes primarily associated with his partnering with Wave. 

Wave is THE line for Pang. The line at which point Pang would be willing to abandon his morals and beliefs, sacrifice the other things he cares about. We get hinting that Wave will be the LINE all the way back in season 1, when Pang purposely tries to form a partnership with Wave already knowing he and Wave do not 100% agree and cooperating is Still worth the benefits to Pang. This is notable because in prior relationships, Pang generally does not compromise on any of his morals/ways of doing things and instead tends to take the lead and try to convince others to support him. 

Many times in the show characters push Pang’s limits, trying to get him to break and give up, or things just falling apart around him. None of those times succeeds, until its Wave’s life on the line. That is the breaking point, the line, the limit at which Pang is pushed enough to give up on the other things he values (or at least prioritize Wave more). Its very much like Kirk in Search for Spock being willing to give up his career and the Enterprise itself (which he’d been established to refuse to ever give up prior) if it meant helping Spock’s soul. Pang’s partner Wave is his line. (Oh the KirkSpock parallels).

Why are they so gay? why am i not shutting up about it. oh because the biggest media parallel i’d jump to with mutant partners who rely on each other would be Professor X/Magneto. But Professor X’s line (generally - i haven’t read every comic) is not necessarily Magneto, or vice versa. Generally, while the homoerotic magnetism and initial shared goal for the future is there, the teamwork partnership is there, in the end both of their morals are not things they will ever compromise on (At least in the old and certainly in the new X-men movies). Unlike Professor X, well it looks like Pang does value his partner more than his morals. 

Pang loves Wave so much.

It would be interesting to explore if the vice versa is true, in a way. Because I think Wave would have been willing to die before surrender to Supot - its just Pang won’t ever let them choose a plan where Wave dies. But if Pang was the one dying, would Wave pick Pang over their goals? I think Wave would, considering the way he loves his friends, and how that love clearly started with getting close to Pang and them trusting each other. I think Wave values his loved ones surviving mattering more to him than his goals. Or at minimum, I think Wave’s determination to win long term would allow him to be willing to surrender in the short term to save lives he cared about, even if he didn’t give up his goals long term. This is all personal opinion, because we don’t know what Wave would choose. But he did willingly choose to take the virus and presumably he thought ‘if it kills me its worth it’ to help Pang and see Pang. Wave trusts Pang so much he thinks Pang would continue to pursue their goals even if he dies, he thinks dying for Pang is worth it because he cares about Pang himself so much just being safe. Its probably safe to say Wave loves Pang enough to die for him specifically, regardless of if their goals could be pursued or not.

So Wave sure does love Pang a lot too. 

I just. If you want homoerotic mutant partners in love going to the ultimate limit to save each other over even their ideals, Pangwave sure is it.
