I live in the US but I still don’t fully understand the need to have giant extravagant wedding that costs $30,000. Like mine cost less than 2000. Some stuff I lucked out on but some really doesn’t need to be expensive. Ceremony and venue were free. I told my bridesmaids a color and said find a dress that suits you in this color. I bought nice fake flowers and made it into a bouquet myself which I still have and was able to make like a month before the day without worrying about wilting or anything. The cake was the wedding gift from my baker sis in law. Most of the decor I borrowed from ppl. Dress I found at a thrift store which only needed hemmed. The reception was a few hrs after the ceremony and everybody went and got their own food. We had a giant charcuterie for snacks. In my culture anybody and everybody is invited so you don’t do plates meals. We also don’t drink so that’s more money saved. That 2000 also included our rings. Honestly the biggest expense was sending out the invites. Ya if I was rich I would have changed a few things but not much. The day was beautiful and perfect cause I married my best friend and had fun with a ton of people.

I got married this summer!! And I spent the year leading up to it designing & patterning & making my dresses! So here they are; unfortunately my photo selection is pretty limited cause our photographer got almost no fullbody pictures of me alone from the front, but w/e
My wedding dress/outfit/what have you consisted of an Edwardian-ish blouse and a skirt which I drafted off of an actual Victorian walking skirt pattern except since I didn’t wanna obtain/wear a corset & bustle I took out the hip shaping so it just turned out to be a partial circle skirt that’s a little longer and fuller in back. Oh, and the front panel was actually two overlapping panels which could be folded back and attached to the inside of the skirt. I wore it closed at the actual marriage part which I didn’t get good pics of, and open at the ring ceremony, which is where all the above pics were taken. The pants were resale, but I did make my veil and bouquet!
The second dress was very inspired by this set of classic lolita OP’s (particularly the one in the first two pics) which I first saw back in 2021 and I’d been itching to make something similar ever since, so I picked up the fabric for it when it was on sale back at my old job and then pencilled it in as my reception dress so I would actually get around to making it. (Although fun fact both of these outfits STILL need more sewing done before they’re completely ready for regular wear lol. Someday) I got the cameo for the brooch off Etsy (it has a butterfly on it) and my grandma bought me the shoes for Christmas last year, though I added the bows to them (they’re removable and I also made a pink set) and also made the earrings and hair bow.
Anyway we recently got done moving and stuff so hopefully I will be able to do more art soon! (Also they/them preferred as usual 💜)

Why do you focus on the price of a wedding if they can afford it?
Because I literally can’t believe that a venue that expensive is a thing that exists and that there’s an adequate market for it to remain open?

It’s been a while since I last posted a picture here, but I figured I’d share one now. :-D I’m currently on a cruise with my parents that they got as a sorta graduation gift for me (except that I’m fairly certain I failed my final exam so I’ve not technically graduated yet… oops). Either way, I decided to wear this pretty emerald green (that looks blue with the filters I put on it) dress that I got for less than $10 at a bin store. :-D
(Also, if anyone was unaware, a bin store is a store that has a bunch of bins of stuff that are all sold for the same price. Each day the prices decrease until restock day, when it restarts. My local bin store goes from $15, to $10, $7, $5, $3, then finally $1 before restocking. I either got this dress on the $10, $7, or $5, not sure. I also got my shoes for $1.50 at a close out sale for a Forever 21, so all in all my outfit’s a good deal, which I always love to get. ^-^)
