Name: Yuma Chitose

Arcanas: Strength, Sun

Personas: Pistis, Thalassa

A young girl who desires nothing more than companionship. She clings to Kyoko and Nagisa due to their strength and is especially close to Kyoko due to her being protected by her when she was attacked by a shadow after her mother was killed by one. Yuma desperately desired to be useful to Kyoko and by extension, S.E.E.S. and decided to follow them into Tartarus. However, they weren’t aware of her following them and Yuma was accidentally left behind in Tartarus for a week. When S.E.E.S. realizes her location, they immediately rush into Tartarus to find her and where she awakens to her persona.

Due to her perceptive nature, she was always wary of Kyubey, the director of S.E.E.S. themselves and managed to escape him when he attempted to sacrifice S.E.E.S, teaming up with Homura to ambush him. After his defeat and resulting incarceration, Yuma helps the rest of the team with the aftermath. She eventually breaks down from the pressure of being the caretaker reveals to the team that her mother was abusive to her and the reason she’s so perceptive is to help predict her mother’s outbursts. She says she was worried that if she showed this kind of selfish attitude, they would abandon her. S.E.E.S. vehemently rejects this thought and assures her that no matter what, she belongs here. This causes her to awaken to her second persona.

PERSONAS

Obviously, Yuma’s first persona is Pistis, the spirit of good faith and reliability. Yuma desperately wants to be useful, with her faith in the others and being incredibly reliable. Like Lucia, Pistis is a navigational persona with Yuma being engulfed in both her personas within the bubbles they hold. Pistis’s main body is an artificial reef, where a coral reef grows upon man made objects. A reef is something that allows protection for all, no matter if they are predator or prey. Yuma is protective of the people around her and desires to help them all similar to a coral reef. The beings that surround her her axolotl like, ever young and able to regenerate. This fits her persona’s healing abilities.

After confronting her insecurities, Pistis becomes Thalassa. Thalassa is the personification of the seas, wielding both benevolence and great power. Yuma, despite her age has great potential and due to her own perceptive nature, managed to subvert a disaster. She has become much more confident in herself, with the smaller beings that surrounded Pistis becoming a giant sea dragon. She is now able to choose what she protects, and what she needs to protect people against.
