On the seventh day of the seventh month, Katara awoke to find Aang’s side of the bed cold and empty.

It was the most romantic day of the year. Supposed to be, anyway. As she sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes, she tried to ignore the disappointment that took the shape of the rumpled sheets beside her.

Once more fully awake, she flipped back the covers and swung her legs over the side of the bed. She pulled on her trousers and tied them at the waist with silent resignation. It was going to be like this sometimes, she reasoned to herself. She and Aang weren’t married, but they had been together long enough that she couldn’t expect him to lounge around in bed in the morning, waiting for her to wake up, just to fulfill some arbitrary notion of romance on the Double Seventh Festival every year.

Though it would have been nice.

DIMILIX FOR THE PAIN for the ship ask game

What made you ship it? A. I first started getting the itch to ship it when I saw this fanart by @swordhound. I kinda could see it during the actual canon game, but I saw that and I was like oh. I was on the edge of the rabbit hole when I saw that this week is actually the beginning of Dimilix Week (and the theme of "reunion at dawn"?? That's so compelling heLP), and then I fell in into the rabbit hole when I finished watching a friend's playthrough of Azure Gleam from Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Felix saves Dimitri, calls Dimitri by name, actively protects him, and says that he'll always have his back? OUCH???? HELP ME???????????? Especially knowing in canon Three Houses, Felix always called Dimitri "Boar" and goes out of his way to pretend he hates him.

What are your favorite things about the ship? A. The potential for tragedy. This is a ship that has my name all over it. The fact that Felix canonically searched for Dimitri for 5 years and tracked him during the Three Houses time skip is my cup of tea. The way Felix saw one of his best friends descend into madness? And Felix pretends to give up on him? Then if you play a route outside of Azure Moon, Felix calls Dimitri by name when he dies and is visibly shaken by it. He wishes he could've done more and saved him.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? A. I'll be honest, though I've fallen into the rabbit hole, I'm only shallowly in the rabbit hole. I'm not that deep because I only recently started to accept that I ship it. So as a result, I don't know what the popular and popular opinions are for this ship. Though, is it bad that I seem to like it better if they don't end up together because of tragedy and Dimitri's own quest for revenge forever separates them?

Awwww thank you! It is soooo self-indulgent and therefore also very near and dear to my heart, hahaha. It was also (as you know) my first attempt at writing a longer, multi-chap (longer than 2-4 chapters) fic so there was a lot to be learned with that fic but I'm still so glad I did it. Really, I didn't have a choice. The idea took over my brain for months and wouldn't leave me alone until it was written, haha. Thanks for the ask, friend!!!

Hi there! So since I know you're into dimileth I would probably go for Reassuring Touches! It's very short and should give you a quick but good idea what my usual vibe for that pairing is. Birds of Paradise is another one if you want something slightly longer but still can read quickly in one sitting and the same soft vibes I write for them. I have other dimileth and fe3h fics that varies widely in both length, pairings, and ratings, but those should be a good start!

For example, can I write a fic with three chapters with each chapter covering a separate prompt? Does this count as covering three prompts to get a bingo? Or do they have to be three separate fics?

And in that moment, she didn’t see the Avatar she knew him to be. Instead, she saw a fifteen-year-old—a fifteen-year-old who shouldn’t even know he was the Avatar, a fifteen-year-old forced from an era of peace to fight in a time of war, a fifteen-year-old with shoulders too slim to bear the weight of the sky and hands too young to hold the weight of the world.

answered here! i'll paste the core idea (since i have no snippets, rip):

post-ffh, mj walking through the streets at night, gradually making her way to flash's house. spider-man shows up, as mj knew he would, bc it's not safe for anyone (but especially a young woman) to be walking by herself at night. they have a convo (memory flickers, mayhaps?). mj ends up getting to flash's place, flash is on his balcony, and yes i will try to insert a romeo and juliet joke there. then they have a conversation (more memory flickers?! who is to say!). and the fic will conclude with mj asking flash a very important question that i shan't share here 😌

11. Would you like to try any new fanfic genres or tropes this year?

answered here! the short answer is that fanfic is my relaxing hobby, so i tend to write what is relaxing, saving the genre explorations for my original fiction and screenwriting.

12 - the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them - Is it a cop out to say Aang? I mean, outside of the fandom he's pretty well-liked, as the protagonist of a series should be. For how incredible, unique, and multi-faceted of a character that he is, he should be way more popular.

18 - it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on - Every culture outside of the Fire Nation (particularly the Air Nomads), Jetko, Jet as a character in general, The Guru (I get that it's hard to precede The Crossroads of Destiny, but holy shit, what an episode), sapphic ships, past Avatars that aren't Kyoshi, the Sun Warriors, Aang's fight with Ozai.

When Aang returned to camp from settling Appa in for the night—rubbing down the sky bison’s furry haunches with a large horsehair brush and tossing him a few watermelons as a bedtime snack—he found Katara sitting by the crackling fire.

Her legs were tucked under her, and she leaned to the side with one hand on the ground. The campfire bathed her figure in a soft, dreamy glow. With warm orange light flickering over her eyelashes and the curves of her lips, she looked like a nature spirit emerging from the deep blue shadows of twilight.

She was beautiful.

Katara turned her head as he approached. “Enjoying the view?” she said with a smile.

Aang realized he was staring. “Yeah,” he breathed.

Her smile turned coy, and she patted the ground beside her. “You might enjoy it better close up.”

He most certainly would.

I answered this here! But another hc I have is that katara is more nervous than Aang for their wedding night. She can spiral pretty quickly when there’s nothing on the line (we all know this gal can keep a level head in the most stressful situations tho don’t get me wrong) and Aang is obvs there to listen and to help guide her through any negative thoughts and feelings she’s having. But she’s a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to be straight forward at all despite her worries and fears

Chocooooo!!! Ooooh good choices. This one's gonna get zuko-centric, bahaha, but I SWEAR I enjoy his canon character, just not the way he is portrayed/exists in fanon.

8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about: that Zuko's redemption arc is complete at the end of the show and he's all good now. He was literally making racist comments about Aang, the very last of his people who were wiped out BY ZUKO'S FAMILY, two episodes before the finale. He has some racist and misogynist and colonialist ways of thinking that are deeply ingrained and will take a lifetime of unlearning. He's going to fuck up many times in the future, still. Zuko is not wise like Iroh (who I love but has his own issues) and I could do without him being the one everyone goes to for advice in fanfiction. When he tries to be like Iroh in canon he winds up saying stupid things like "take a bite out of the silver sandwich" or "look inside yourself to save yourself from your other self," like come ON fandom. Zuko is great as a character but let's not make him into something he's not.

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them: This is hard because I didn't really know there were unpopular characters? haha. I guess maybe Mai--I know she gets a lot of hate from certain corners of fandom but I really enjoy her. She is impossible to write (for me) but I still try to work her into stories because I think she adds something unique and her friendships with the gaang members are so interesting to me. I know she gets portrayed as "the gloomy girl who sighs a lot" but there's so much more to her (as we see in episodes like The Beach but also a bit in the comics) and she's one of the very few characters who can ever make Zuko smile (the other being Aang when he tells Zuko he's smart, hahaha), which is a feat in and of itself.

16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc): Zuko has often been portrayed as this sexy, suave, emotionally-intelligent bad-boy who would be great in bed. I just... don't see it in canon (that's Aang, guys--you're talking about AANG, Mister parents-called-on-the-second-day-of-school, with multiple gaggles of adoring fangirls and a silver tongue). I think Zuko is awkward, brash, often-offensive, has a hard time finding the right words, still uses anger to cover up any other emotions, and his sex-ed was probably limited to the mechanics of baby-making and didn't include anything about pleasing a partner. Maybe he improves on some of these things as he ages (probably with a lot of help from Aang and Mai, when he lets her), but this is not who he is as a character and I don't understand why so much of fandom portrays him that way.

Why don’t you ship it?: So I'll be honest I remember being so and so with Bernadetta/Caspar's support chain but don't remember why. I reread their support chain, and while rereading it I feel there was a bit too much bickering/Caspar not listening to Bernie for my taste there. Also I remember being stunned at their endcard where they have many children LMAO.

What would have made you like it?: I do like the initial set up with Caspar trying to have Bernie go out and socialize more. I would've liked to see that more than "take me to the view!" as their focus.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?: I think there are some fun potential Capsar and Berine interactions if they go on adventures together and such!
