[cracks knuckles] i’m not far enough into classic to include them so we’re going specifically nuwho companions here
#5 i’m gonna have to go with rory williams. i have a lot of problems with the eleventh doctor era, but he’s a definite bright spot. this man punches nazis with no hesitation, chugs his respect women juice, calls the doctor out on his bullshit, and loves his bi wife so much. respect
#4 i’m gonna say clara oswald? i cannot stand her in series 7. her “arc” is garbage and she’s literally just a paper thin prop and a mystery for the doctor to solve. she has no substance, bad motivations, and her dynamic with 11 straight up sucks. but in series 8. OH BOY. that’s where her REAL character arc kicks off, and it fucking rules. she has to relearn her relationship with the doctor once he regenerates, and she stops taking his bullshit and starts calling him out. even in the worst moments of s8 & 9 (cough, kill the moon, cough), her dynamic with 12 makes it worth watching. and the way her character arc ends… holy fuck. it’s been six years and i’m still not over the s9 finale. i have so much to say about it that i might have to make a separate post about it
#3 bill potts. she’s perfect. i love her. only flaw is that she only had one season 😔 she’s believably just a college kid! she’s just a gay college kid who wants to learn. she’s funny, and smart, and her dynamic with 12 and nardole is so good. her best friends are a fruity space professor, an android with glass nipples, and a puddle. that’s peak doctor who right there. i love her. I always think about that quote from The Pilot, where the doctor says something along the lines of “when others are confused, they frown. but when you’re [bill] confused, you smile.”
#2 donna noble. she’s so goddamn good. she and ten are platonically married in at least five separate star systems. she’s just his best friend in a time where he really needed one! she’s kind, and witty, and really smart, and her ending is probably the most tragic out of all of them. but she’s so perfect… i wish she’d had more than one season
#1 you know who it’s gonna be. look at my profile picture and tell me you don’t know who my favorite is. it’s rose. rose tyler is perfect in every way. she’s so much smarter than people give her credit for. she doesn’t need the doctor to be amazing, she can do that all on her own, as we see in s4; but he helps her come out of her shell and encourages her not to take other people’s shit and to be herself. i think she should come back to the show and kiss jodie whittaker’s doctor on the mouth.

Nickname: My name doesn’t really lend itself to nicknames, but one of my friends calls me Rooty sometimes, and I call myself The Crazy Sheep Lady in the hope that it’ll catch on.

Ethnicity: Northern Irish.
Fave fruit: Pink Lady apples straight from the fridge! But really I love most fruit so long as there’s a pavlova underneath...
Fave season: Autumn is usually amazing but the hurricane blew all of the beautiful leaves away and now the trees are just bare. Thanks a bunch, Ophelia.
Fave book series: I, er, don’t have one? Although I do adore @findmomo‘s books! Oh! And I also like my own books, if I’m allowed to say that!

What I usually post about: I’m unapologetically multifandom, but I’m mostly Doctor Who trash. There’s also some Supernatural, Sherlock, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Marvel, Star Trek, and a smattering of British detectives.
Do I get asks regularly: Not really. It depends if I’ve reblogged one of those ask games, and even then sometimes I can hear the crickets chirping. But maybe I’ll get one once a week or something like that?
Why I made a Tumblr: I was reading fanfiction by @thenyoumaykissthebride and on their profile they had a link to their tumbler? And I was like: “But what’s a tumbler? Isn’t that what you put juice in?” I scrolled through their entire blog, which was a few months old by that stage and took a few days. I was hooked. So many pretty things! So many funny things! So much Doctor Who! And so, on 1st October 2011, hours before The Wedding of River Song aired, I did make a Tumblr. And we’re both still here. Go us!
Reasons for URL: It’s a mashing together of Gallifrey, the Doctor’s home planet, and *****hafry, a townland very close to where I live. So it’s Gallifrey and home.

Thoughts on other companions: I love them all but I don’t necessarily feel comfortable writing them, so they mostly have cameos in my fics
Other things of note: I’m a feminist, I read a lot about representation in the media, I strive to give my female characters agency and strong friendships with other girls. I also try to add diversity amongst my OCs (I still need to improve on that)
I prefer imperfect happy endings, when some things still need fixing but the characters are hopeful and believe in a brighter future together.
