thank u @hushed-chorus​ for the early morning tag! and thanks to everyone who’s been tagging me lately. I promise I’ve been meaning to check your stuff (I have more than 30 tabs opened in my phone, and they’re all ao3 fic haha) (I’m especially looking at you @hushed-chorus – everything about your new fic looks incredibly appealing to me) 

I’ve been consumed by the spirit of COC, an event I said I wasn’t going to participate despite being my first year because I Had No Ideas. I’ve written for more than 11 prompts now. I’ve been having fun. I’ve been experiencing the agonies. At no point do I have any idea of what I’m doing. I have an idea for ritual that could also work for beginnings. It would fill the Jane Austen prompt from the CO prompts blog. I’ve already Written Things. I’m not sure I can pull it off. It’s the first thing in the whole event that has me thinking “maybe this one stays in the drafts.” 

I’m sharing an excerpt from the fic where Simon comes out of a book. It’s from the chapter I just uploaded – I wrote it for the match prompt and I’m absolutely winging it. What’s going to happen next? Who knows!! Certainly not me!!

“Are you crazy?”

“You wanted to know if my magic still works,” he answers. His cheeks are red—Baz is still holding him.

“I have an idea,” Baz says, sounding strained. “Let’s test this in a way where failure won’t result in your death. How about that?”

Simon, the absolute fucker, has the gall to look like he actually needs to consider this. After what feels like a century, he nods. “Okay,” he sounds oddly breathless.

Fic authors self rec!

alright so, I had no intention of doing this because I have such a low opinion of my writing skills and am generally like "why would anyone want to read this??" but this morning, I got comments on several of my fics and was reminded that some people actually enjoy reading them so I figured why not.

I'm going to keep this brief because I'm so very bad at talking myself up.

Reader, I married him (E, WIP, 33K so far) This fic is my baby. My first "real" fic (meaning, the first fic I really put some thoughts into) and also my first chaptered fic. It means a lot to me and I'm still holding on to hope that more people will read it once it's complete because I think it has a lot of things (tropes and the like) that people would enjoy, despite it being based on Jane Eyre (which I know is not a very popular novel, but I love the story with all my heart)

Kiss me hard, touch me soft on the weekend (M, 4.5K) This is my latest fic and my most well-liked so far. I feel like I'm getting hang of this whole fic writing thing more with every fic I write and I feel like this one is the most fine tuned I've written yet. I also had a lot of fun writing it! Which is never a given 😂

Love you forever & forever (love you with all my heart) (M, 2.5K, MCD) Boy, I sure love long titles. I wrote this fic because one day I stumbled upon the quote Simon Snow is still going to die kissing me. Just not today. and started imagining how it would happen, and why. I imagined the boys saying good bye at the end of a long and happy life together. I just wanted to give them that. Little did I know that I would make everybody cry with this fic!

Coming home to my love (G, 557 words) I think this is maybe the second fic I wrote ever? I barely put any thoughts into it. It's far from perfect and it's just a whole lot of fluff but I still like it. It's cute and domestic and they're happy and that's all I ever want for the boys.

Let's go below zero and hide from the sun (T, 1K) One of the three fics I wrote for COC. Again, one of my earliest but it's cute! The boys have fun! They kiss and eat sandwiches and drink champagne! I like it!

COC 2021:

The Lost Hours

December 22, nighttime: Simon falls asleep huffing Baz’s pillow on the couch.

December 23, late afternoon: Baz rolls up at Fiona’s flat, made of trouble. (Simon’s whereabouts are unknown at that point.)

But what happened in between? After examining all the evidence, the Snowbaz Investigation Unit has narrowed it down to a few things that could have happened, and one that actually did. Chapter 1 of 3-ish. (AO3.)

Ch. 1: Gifts of the Mages

BAZ

“Will your friend be staying for Christmas, Basilton?” Daphne appears in my bedroom doorway. Snow is back in his room, probably calling Bunce about the wraiths. (It was wrong to give him the only haunted bedroom.)

“I’m not sure, Mum.” Any minute, Snow will remember he hates me and will run for the train.

“Well. I’ll ask Vera to wrap a few things up for him. Just in case.” Daphne keeps a stash of emergency presents—good ones. She hoards cashmere jumpers to complement every eye color, including bog-standard blue.

I wish I had her foresight. Shopping is out of the question; I can’t leave Snow here alone. I’ll have to give him something I already have. But it will look petty to give him some obvious castoff. Especially since he wouldn’t appreciate a perfect necktie if I choked him with it. (I would appreciate if he choked me with a tie.)

What can I give Snow that says I don’t want to kill you, but I’m definitely not in love with you? Something polite. Decent. But ordinary. (He’s extraordinary.)

I’m so fucked.

SIMON

I just realized it’s nearly Christmas. When do the Pitches give gifts? Agatha’s family does Christmas Day, but Penny says hers does Christmas Eve. Tomorrow. If I’m still here, I’ll just be watching while Baz’s family exchanges weird, posh stuff. I would feel like an ass empty-handed—I am guest. Penny always helped me choose a gift for Mrs. Wellbelove when I spent Christmas there.

And I need to give Baz something. Don’t I? Isn’t that what people do? People who live together for years and spend Christmas together and are temporarily not mortal enemies?

Fuck. I can’t go shopping. It would take hours to walk to the village. I don’t dare ask one of Baz’s parents for a ride. I can’t ask Baz. I’ll just come up with something without leaving the estate. And without conjuring, because I’m crap that. And I forgot my wand. I’ll just … make him … a gift? Out of … nature? And … my coat? And … rubbish? Fuck.

BAZ

“Baz! Come and see—What are you doing?”

Snow bursts burst into my room. No knock or anything. As if he’s forgotten we’re not at Watford, that he has his own room here. I’m at my desk, wondering how to wrap his gift. It’s not Christmas yet.

It doesn’t matter.

I sigh. “Happy Christmas, Snow.”

SIMON

Baz hands me a book with a cream-colored necktie looped round it like a ribbon. Guess that’s also for me?

The book looks very old. It’s dark blue, with a gold peacock spreading its tail all over the cover. Its feathers curl down around the swirly lettering. Pride and Prejudice. Penny’s been on me to read it since fifth year. Guess I will, now.

“Thank you, Baz. It’s beautiful.” It is.

“Spare me, Snow.” It sounds like a sneer, but he’s smiling. I am too.

BAZ

Snow’s grin is sheepish and proud at the same time. It’s giving me a sunburn. “I got you something too, Baz.”

“What?” What is happening?

“For Christmas. I got you something for Christmas.”

“Snow, just because we’re on a truce doesn’t mean we give each other little presents now.” I can’t get out of my own way.

“Baz, you literally just gave me a book that probably cost more than everything I own.” I have no idea of its price. I stole it from the British Library when I was fifteen. “Come on. Come see your present.”

He grabs me by the wrist. I let him lead me out. We are almost hand in hand.

We cross the south lawn. We pass through the rose garden—just a thorn garden, in winter—and reach a potting shed at the edge of the wood. Snow grasps the latch, then stops and turns to me.

“I hope you like it. I thought—well.” He’s nervous, but still smiling. “Happy Christmas, Baz.” He’s searching my face as he opens the door.

Simon Snow has caught me a live badger.

Dear Yuletide writer,

as far as I can tell from the sign-up summary, you matched with me because of either Silent Hill 3 or Avengers Academy, because I was the only one who requested or offered the other two super-tiny fandoms I nominated. if you feel like doing one of those after all, though, go for it!

I feel like...most of the fandoms I requested aren’t too likely to lead to fics with my major DNWs, probably. I wouldn’t want to see dubcon or significant manipulation in a relationship that’s supposed to be positive and healthy, for instance. I’m not opposed to explicit sex scenes of any kind, although I often end up skimming them because I’m the type of ace person who is just Not Interested in most of the physical aspects, so...you’re welcome to write sex scenes but you absolutely don’t have to feel like you need to.

in general, my biggest DNW is unhappy endings. I’m thrilled to see my favorite characters go through all kinds of hell to get there, but I like things to be okay or at least hopeful by the end. if canon is the unhappy part in one way or another, I’m always happy to read fix-it fics. Between post-canon fix-its that could reasonably happen in the future and canon-divergence AUs where things are okay now because of some mid-canon change, I have a slight preference for the former, but both are good.

as for stuff I like, well, the other thing implied by my main DNW is that I do often enjoy fairly dark fics, as long as they end okay. I also like Loki a lot, as you can probably guess from my requests. if you ended up matching me on Avengers Academy Loki and/or you want to take a stab at one of the other two Loki-centric requests, the Loki fics I’ve actually written are pretty representative of stuff I like in my Loki fics, which basically boils down to “sympathetic interpretations always, with loads of angst and/or whump on the way to a reasonably happy ending”. I tend to take a somewhat lighter tone in general with my Avengers Academy fics (I’ve written 10 of those and only one of them doesn’t involve Loki, so...yeah I have a one-track mind where Loki is concerned), although I did also write a pretty damn whumpy fic for AvAc Loki. I’m very invested in the relationship between Thor and Loki as brothers, although Thorki is usually a personal squick just because of the pseudo-incest. for things that aren’t necessarily Loki-related, I like found families and deep friendships, sibling bonds, stories about characters reclaiming their own agency from some outside force and/or figuring out how to take control of their own narratives, and probably plenty of other things that aren’t coming to mind at the moment. I’m equally good with plotty fics and little slice-of-life or introspective pieces. I will always always always be happy to see queer characters, especially asexual ones.

Silent Hill 3 (Heather Mason). I love this game and that's mostly because of Heather--she's resourceful, brave, and incredibly tough, and the game is essentially all about her reclaiming her agency (in a very literal, physical way) from people who used her for their own ends. Anything that gets into Heather's head would be great, whether it's a missing scene of some kind during the game or something afterward that explores what she does next and how she recovers from a frankly massive amount of trauma. I would also really love to see something involving Angela and/or Maria from Silent Hill 2; I'm not sure how the timelines would line up, but the way Heather basically said "fuck you, you don’t own me" to the cult makes me want to see other female characters find their own agency as well, and it would be really awesome if Heather found a way to help them do that, either by helping them directly or just by influencing the way the town operates. in general, I love these games for their atmosphere and symbolism, so anything you can do along those lines would be great.

Avengers Academy (Loki). I still miss this game. I especially miss Loki, who was a snarky little bastard but really not a bad dude. Mostly I'd be thrilled to see anything that focuses on him (or her, I super loved Loki’s canonical genderfluidity) developing actual friendships at the academy, with any characters who might be relevant (Steve, Natasha, America Chavez, Nebula, Union Jack, Angela, Jane Thor, really anybody). Working things out with Thor and/or the rest of his family is always good too; Loki's Frost Giant storyline didn't involve Thor at all, for instance, probably because it was written well before Thor was added to the game, so I'd be interested to see how things went when he found out his brother was a Frost Giant. I’m also always happy to see crossovers of some kind with other Marvel universes, especially considering AvAc was an interesting patchwork of film and comics canon; meta stuff where characters are aware of their multiverse counterparts is always fun (again, my own AvAc fics are pretty representative of what I like...and if you wanted to build off anything in those, I’d be thrilled). and hey, if you want to pick up or expand on any of the plot threads the game never really got around to, like more about the Academy’s supposed mole, the actual nature and origin of the timefog, or other worldbuilding-related stuff, that would be awesome. I’d also be happy to see something post-canon, showing what characters are up to now or doing some kind of reunion. 

Loki: Where Mischief Lies - Mackenzi Lee. I had a lot of issues with this book and I'm not sure how much of that is just me not appreciating what the author was doing with an unreliable narrator (in part because I'm already pretty attached to certain interpretations of Loki) and how much is the author not quite doing it right, but I'd love to see something that would...make it make sense internally in terms of Loki's motivations and actions. It doesn't necessarily have to be a fix-it, although I'd love one of those too, with Loki reuniting with Theo and/or actually reconciling with his family. A giant crossover that includes this Loki with other major versions of Loki could be fun too. I’m planning to write up some kind of actual review to articulate what about this book didn’t work for me, and I’ll update this post with a link when I do that, although...again, I know nobody else offered or requested this one. (if you think it sounds fun or you just want to read this book in general, my library actually has the ebook on Hoopla, so it’s worth checking to see if your library does too.)

Marvel Contest of Champions game (Loki, Thor). The way this game handles Loki continues to piss me off--sometimes it's kind of fun and it strikes a similar balance to recent comics as far as his loyalties and motives are concerned, but most of the time it's like "here's our Loki, his design is based on current comics Loki who's mostly an antihero or even sometimes a hero now, and here's an event storyline explicitly based on the MCU where Loki literally had a redemption arc and a heroic death, but our Loki is still a villain because of reasons". I want the game to fix that, but if they won't, I'd settle for fic. like with Loki: Where Mischief Lies I know nobody matched with me on this one, and this one is probably less accessible--I mean, the game is totally free, but I think all the Loki content so far has been in event storylines, which means you can’t really pick up any of that now (unless somebody on Youtube has been very thorough, I guess; I’ve done some grumbling in my CoC tag but it’s not really helpful as a background). so unless you just happen to have been playing this game regularly for the last few years, it probably won’t work to pick up this one.

2, 3 and 8 for the WIP writing questions?

Yay! Thank you so much for sending me these WIP Writing Asks! ❤️

I’ll answer these for “A Chance Engagement”, since that was the WIP I updated most recently. 

2. How long have you been working on your WIP? 

Since September 2017. It’s now 35 chapters long, and… nowhere near finished. 

3. How has the WIP changed between starting it and where it is now? 

So when I started writing it – and when I posted the first two chapters – the plot was meant to be VERY different to what it is now: I’d always planned for Merrill to have “a chance engagement” to dance with Sir Carver Hawke at her coming-out ball, BUT there was also meant to be an accidental actual engagement that happened during that same ball. 

Merrill was meant to get lost somewhere and Carver accidentally walks into her, and then they get caught by other people in the same room purely by chance; and the only way to resolve the scandalous situation of an unmarried woman and man in the same room would be to feign an engagement – hence the other meaning of “a chance engagement” in the sense of they accidentally get engaged, and then somehow have to navigate how they can extricate themselves from this sticky situation but then they fall in looooove, oh no 

….And then I wasn’t confident in my ability to pull off a fake engagement fic, so after publishing Chapter 3 I said “fuck it” and decided to follow the plot of Pride & Prejudice instead. LOL. 

8. When creating the characters for your WIP, what came first to you? 

I’ll be honest – I only wanted to write a Regency AU simply to have Carver striding around in ridiculously tight trousers that showed off the outline of his cock. That was literally the main reason I created this fic. 

However, because I’m a huge Jane Austen fan and wanted to write a fic in her style, the fic is very much SFW and T-rated, despite Carver’s ridiculously tight Regency-style breeches. 

As for creating characters… hmmm, that’s tricky, because nobody in the fic is an OC. The closest I’ve got to OCs are the elves in the Sabrae clan, because we know so little about their individual personalities and characters from canon, so much of it has had to be made up to fit into the plot.

Jessica juga bersandar di mobil mewah yang juga semakin membuatnya terlihat keren. Walaupun hanya melakukan beberapa gerakan sederhana, Jessica berhasil membuat pengikutnya terkesima dengan tingkah lakunya yang begitu menggemaskan.

Sampai sahabatnya, Brisia Jodie memuji kecantikan adik dari YouTuber Jess No Limit itu. "Merinding lihatnya. Secakep itu," tulis Jodie di kolom komentar yang kemudian disukai lebih dari 3 ribu akun. Jessica pun membalas, "Kayak lihat hantu ya Ka merinding."

Eyyy, Call of Cthulhu!

Mark is running a series of Call of Cthulhu one-offs on Tuesdays now. The people playing this week were me, Jon, and two people I hadn’t met before, Christine and Aaron. 

The game will be tagged as #Markthulhu, because I can. It takes place in a classic 1920s setting in northern Massachusetts.

Players and characters are as follows:

Me - Dr Miriam Fitz, tiny, intense academic.

Jon - Francis Wilson, lumberjack-looking bootlegger from Montreal.

Aaron - Jeremiah Steele, middle-aged detective who’s been tracking Christine’s character.

Christine - Jane Doe. Uses salt as a comfort object. She’s been playing in all of Mark’s other CoC campaigns, so they’re loosely connected via her. She’s extremely average looking except for the moments of definite madness in her eyes.

JONESBORO, Ark. – Many of the arrests which took place in Craighead County’s Operation Stamp Em between Tuesday and Wednesday happened in Jonesboro.

At 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, May 23, JPD made contact with Tauron Rashaun Falls, 22, of Jonesboro. He was arrested for contempt of court/non-payment of fines (two counts) at his residence at the 200-block of Royale.

At 9 a.m. Tuesday, police arrived at the 3100-block of Fairview to locate Steven Matthew Casey, 28, of Jonesboro, for a felony parole warrant. He was located in a child’s bedroom and arrested, the report said.

At 10:10 a.m. Tuesday at the 2200-block of Mary Jane Drive, police arrested Elizabeth Carter, 54, of Jonesboro, for a felony absconding warrant.

At 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, JPD visited 247 North Allis to a unit to locate Jeanine Coleman, 28, of Jonesboro, who had a felony bench warrant as well as at nine contempt of court warrants for non-payment of fines, the report said. She was arrested.

A small light bulb was found during a search with burn marks and white residue, possibly meth, located inside. He claimed he only swallowed a blunt of marijuana but police suspected it was meth and took him to the ER to be evaluated. He was then transported to CCDC to face charges for parole violation, parole warrant, felony bench warrant (Craighead County), felony possession of drug paraphernalia and felony tampering with physical evidence.

At 1:46 p.m., police arrested Regina S. Gipson (Holt), at her job at On The Bistro restaurant at Nettleton and U.S. 63. She had a misdemeanor bench warrant.

At 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Lisa Butler, 30 of Jonesboro, was located at the 500-block of West Matthews. She was wanted for felony absconding along with having a felony bench warrant out of Poinsett County. She was arrested. While being searched at the booking area, a small plastic baggie containing methamphetamine and a meth pipe were located. She will face two felony charges for that, along with her warrants.

At 3:57 p.m. on Tuesday, Investigator Pete Lochner along with Parole SRT Agents responded to 2209 Race Street to a set of apartments to find Jeremy Wayne Murphy, 29, of Jonesboro. Murphy had an active felony bench warrant out of Craighead County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators made contact with Jennifer Danielle Barnett, 28, of Jonesboro, who said Murphy was not in the residence and refused entry to authorities. She was told several times if she knew he was inside and was intentionally concealing him, she could be charged with hindering apprehension. She insisted. A search warrant was approved by Judge Tommy Fowler and officers entered the residence. Both were arrested and transported to Craighead County Detention Center.

At 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities visited the 900-bock of Word Avenue to find Kevin James Sullivan, 44, of Jonesboro. He was wanted for absconding. Sullivan was arrested.

At 6:21 p.m., approximately, police arrived at the 200-block of East Jackson Avenue to serve warrants on Garrett Robert Bearden, 53, of Leachville. However, he showed officers paperwork confirming he was in the care of St. Bernard’s Medical Center and unable to attend court. Although ten days had passed since the issuance of the warrant, officers cited him and released him, instead of taking him to jail as was done with all others.

At 6:25 p.m., JPD was dispatched to the intersection of Highland and Industrial drives to assist with two more arrests in the operation. Douglas Aurthur Gray, 30, of Jonesboro, was arrested for two FTA warrants while Brianna M. Raymond, 26, of Jonesboro, was arrested on six contempt of court/non-payment warrants, a misdemeanor FTA and a FTA for a traffic warrant. She also had a bench warrant and eight contempt of court warrants out of Craighead County.

  At 8:50 p.m., JPD was contacted by a probation and parole officer to help assist in an arrest at the 1700-block of Big Johns Place. Omika Humphrey, 35, of Jonesboro, had a felony bench warrant for her arrest.

At 9:40 p.m., while at the jail on a seperate arrest, Jeremy Wayne Murphy, 29, of Jonesboro, was charged with two FTA warrants and two COC warrants.

At 10:30 p.m., JPD officers arrived to assist corrections officers at Baymont Inn on Kazi. Carson Clampit, 35, of Harrisburg, was arrested for a parole warrant. Inside of Clampit’s boot was a burnt metal spoon, white plastic straw and a used syringe. Five individual bags of yellow meth were found. One bag had one large chunk of ice while the other bags had small pieces. He was charged with felony possession of meth, and meth paraphernalia, along with a hold for the parole warrant. The meth weighed 4.3 grams, the report said.

At 10:43 p.m., JPD was dispatched to the county jail to once again serve warrants to someone who ended up in custody on their own accord. April L. Williams, 37, of Jonesboro, was cited for COC/non-payment.
