kine is based off mola mola sunfish, which are about 6ft in size!!therefore i raise you: mola mola sunbathing party!! (+ the slightly more realistic animal friends :DD)

OKAY i did a lot of research on animals for this one!! feel free to read my notes under the cut 👇

kine: is a mola mola/ocean sunfish, specifically from pacific waters! i'm in love with the idea of this six foot behemoth next to all the tiny creatures of dreamland, and as someone with a crippling obsession with fish, i had to draw him :] pacific mola molas match the distinctive petal-shaped clauvus (not a caudal fin!) that kine has, but don't have a lot of iconic lip action, which is why i tried to make it seem like a... discolored snout? molas are typically one color, and the blue color could seem natural from an angle, so let's pretend that real!kine just has lots of cool barnacles.

coo: is taken from @starflungwaddledee's dusky eagle owl notes! they literally look so much like coo it's insanee + i added the stripes to his wings. finding the bird-to-cartoon ratio was kinda hard actually 😭 birds are hard to draw what

rick: is based on a golden hamster (aka syrian hamster)!!! he's exactly the type of hamster you think of when you think of a normal hamster. golden hamsters are technically one of the largest hamsters, but still only stand at about 7 inches— so i decided to use his cartoon logic to keep him somewhat relative to coo

chuchu: SHE'S A FLAPJACK OCTOPUS SHE'S LITERALLY A FLAPJACK OCTOPUS!!!! scientists actually wanted to name the species "adorabilis" and just look them up please they're so cute!!! you can tell that DL3 character designers had flapjack octopi on their minds when they designed her. their fins look similar to a bow, and i obviously couldn't get rid of that, so i gave her both :]]

nago: is a calico cat. he's not overly cartoonish in his game design in regards to how he looks as a cat— he is undeniably a cat. i let my middle school warrior cats obsession take over for that one. calicos are almost always female, so i also raise you trans nago 🫶

pitch: resembles a warbling white eye, according to wikirby. i tend to draw him similar to one anyways, thanks to adeleine's slightly more realistic drawings in the DL3 credits. he's definitely also been sized up to fit in with the rest of the cast, since a 4-inch bird wouldn't exactly be visible.

thanks for listening to my rambles about animals!! i tried to keep a good mix between realism and video game designs just for kicks and giggles, hopefully it doesn't fall into a weird uncanny valley haha :] ✌️

It's my friend's birthday, please go wish them a happy birthday! Morp, as a birthday gift I made this snapper since I know you this is your favourite dragon type in Flight Rising and a little special something we brainstormed together.

Here's a little Dutch lesson since I know you love learning about new stuff: 'gelukigge verjaardag' means happy birthday. But 'geluk' also means luck in Dutch. As for 'verjaar', it refers to the passing of the year as it literally translates to 'year'. It can also become a verb, specifically correlating with your or someone else's birthday. It can only be used in the context of something living becoming a year older.

Wanted to wish you a happy birthday in my native tongue, :p.

GRYLL COMPILATION!!!!

I didn't forget abt them I just wasn't totally sure where to place them since they're meant to be encountered AFTER the story concludes. They're not even the last drawing in my Star Stacker series though! Very close to the end though... just two more drawings left!

Gryll is an alien witch who travels through the cosmos looking for people to stack stars with! They always conjure up the blocks themself, so their 'playmates' don't have the excuse of not having a game board or blocks... and if others don't know the rules of the game, Gryll explains it to them in agonizing detail! Gryll strikes me as being rather long-lived, but also incredibly carefree and not concerned about their own mortality & just living in pursuit of fun! They might be the same species of alien as (or perhaps an offshoot of) Marx's species? The two might've even played a game together once upon a time. Gryll can be irritating when it comes to asking others to play their games, but they do care about fairness-- they NEVER cheat because it removes the fun for them! They already know they're the best player, but they want to prove themself in an honorable way.

Other than their fixation on star stacking, Gryll is also very fond of onions! Their three onion companions are named Sugar, Salt, and Pepper; Sugar has no leaves, Salt has short leaves, and Pepper has long leaves. I think for Gryll, cultivating onions is less like farming plants and more like caring for animals? Like chickens, maybe? Though the onions themselves are smarter than that, so maybe it's more like taking care of parrots or crows? Point is they're really common on Gryll's homeworld and they like to have a few of them following them through space at all times. So they don't get lonely! Though, Gryll does also like the flavor of edible onions.

Overexplanation of my gijinka design under the cut!

Design wise I did kinda base Gryll's appearance off Marx (mostly cuz they both have huge shiny eyes and are from outer space! Though notably, Gryll has invisible/detached arms that are covered by arm warmers, and no external ears (maybe I will remove Marx's ears as well?). I knew I wanted to emphasize that they have detached arms, but very clearly visible legs! Though I also wanted them to have more stripes in their design, so I decided they should go to their arm warmers. Similarly, I thought they could use more red, so I added a little red shawl. My gijinka design has bare legs since I think they're a very striking feature of Gryll's in-game design-- Gryll has actual legs rather than connected shoes or floating shoes, which not a lot of Kirby characters have! Their top is cut on the sides; it's more androgynous that way I think, and it's also a nod to how Gryll was accidentally depicted with actual arms in one of their in-game panels. I interpreted the lines on their face as whiskers/patchy facial hair, again because it feels more androgynous to me! And I think it makes them look cute. I suppose it could just be blush or paint but I like whiskers!! Basically, I totally overthought Gryll's design lol! I think it's because this is their only appearance so I don't rlly have room to redesign them! Unless I feel like it later lol.

anyways heres my funny drafts of Gryll! They used to have striped sleeves but I wasnt satisfied w that rlly.

They remind me of a Rayman character or perhaps Rayman himself? (has only played Rayman 1 and failed miserably at it)

kirby lore is crazy, next thing you know its revealed that morpho knight actually sent out rick, kine, and coo to be kirby’s first friends as physical representations of the earth, sky, and water in friendly forms that would appeal to a child, thus being kirby’s foundation and first introduction to life and friendship and the goodness of the world, something that zero never had, allowing him to spread that message and be the savior of the universe.

Kirby mastered abilities characters.

I think what I really like about Dedede, Meta Knight and Bandanna Waddle Dee is that they all master one ability and that they can be versatile with said copy ability. So I wanted to try this idea with other characters.

Kirby: It’s sort of hard to come up with a master ability for the Pink Puff but I think the Copy ability from TAC works well. Copying others is what he’s best known for so it makes the most sense for him to use Copy.

Rick, Kine and Coo: Their mastered abilities should be Wing, Water and Rock obviously, considering the three associations with air, water and land.

Gooey: I think it would be funny if Gooey gained ESP when in his mock matter form. Maybe he could gain a third eye that looks similar to Dark Matter to symbolize enlightenment, it seems funny to think about Gooey being enlightened.

Marx: I can’t see any better ability for the jester other than Ball. He’s usually riding on a ball most of the time when not in his demon form, so why not have him become one?

Bandanna Waddle Dee: I know the little guy already has Spear as his mastered copy ability but I think Parasol is a good substitute. It’s the copy ability associated with the Waddle Dees the most and it makes sense that the best of them could use it at its fullest potential. Not only that, but Parasol was one of the first abilities in the franchise and appeared alongside Hammer and Sword, abilities used by two of Bandanna’s friends, so it works.
