i hate researching things that are highly variable because i'll try to find an answer to a question and all the search results are like "well the answer depends on like 12 different parameters so there is no direct answer it just needs a professional to evaluate" and i'm like AUGHHGH

#partly because then i need file my questions down into something much more specific #which often requires me to make decisions on things i'd rather have kept vague #this applies to multiple things but i most often see it when researching medical information #because of course the treatment and evaluation of a condition is going to be based on the severeity and situation #so i'm like sigh. so no general rule? just 'it depends'? ur not gonna at least give me an average? cries

I'm not going to continue having discussions with people through anonymous asks because it's possibly the most inconvenient and frustrating way to have a conversation, but suffice to say you can keep sending me asks but if you "suffer without external validation," that is something that you need to work on for your own mental health

#dogblr #dogs of tumblr #australian shepherd #2 years #kaija has become such a good little hiking buddy #this walk was gorgeous but also a bit challenging at times - for me because of some icy/muddy descents and steep ascents #and for kaija because we had to cross quite a few little rivers and creeks #but she did really great #she evaluated each crossing and decided for herself whether she would ford the river or go across these little log bridges #and during the rest of the walk too she of course was running around and exploring but only where it was safe #this trail would have been way harder to do with her at 1 y.o. since back then she tended to run and jump without thinking first #i was pretty impressed today-both with her physical capability as well as with how reasonable and thoughtful she was in her decision making

I have been trying for days to find a topic for the "paper" I need to turn in for this Philosophy of History course on Friday, and I got nothing.

I so intensely dislike this subject you cannot imagine.

#This is the main reason I didn't take it the first time around #because they told me back then it wasn't required #and I had no interest in it #unlike most other branches of philosophy #it's constituted mostly by Prussian Philosophers #writing theories about history where of course Prussia is the pinnacle of humankind #theories that have the randomness of Tumblr shitposts without any of the fun #You open JSTOR and won't be able to find more than a couple dozen papers on the subject itself #and how could you #It's a discipline that has like 2-3 possible questions tops #is history linear or cyclical or something else #Does History have a purpose (so is there a providence) or not? #And that's pretty much it #By the point you are asking the question about the subjectivity of historical narratives you are talking about hermeneutics #and therefore philosophy of language and the mind #My frustration is not helped by the fact that the professor herself has taught very little #most of the classes have been presentations by freshmen classmates whose interpretations are understandably very basic and tentative #so the fact that she's asking for this without specific guidances is adding insult to injury #but wait there's more! #she intends the papers to be read collectively and peer discussed and evaluated #grrrr #Anyways if you need me I'll be on the pit of despair
