#man i started tagging this and i cant even bring myself to do it. hashtag art hashtag illustration hashtag capitalism. #sorry to be sadposting... tumblr is the only place i can admit ive actually been really really struggling with my love for art... #i should be grateful. i should be thankful for the fact that i can do art as my job. i shouldnt be whining about it like this. #but theres a hole in my soul where my joy for creating used to be and i dont know how to fix it. i want to love to draw again. #its been like this for probably over a year now and i dont know what to do. i cant abandon everything ive been working on for 7 years. #im also unemployable. so its not like i would dare to quit moonlume...but i just want to find joy in it again... #but capitalism has dug its wretched claws into my skull so badly that everything has been feeling incredibly soulless. i hate it. #anyway. might delete this later. its unprofessional but this is the one website where i can let go of professionalism for 5min and be human. #i dont hate what i do and i really am thankful..i just i wish i wasnt so stressed about making everything look good and perfect and sellable #but at this point its subconsciously connected to my survival that every time i think about drawing i stress myself out before i even start #ugh idk. neither here nor there. cant quit but dont feel connected to my work but cant change what i do or i will alienate my audience 👍

issue: i am good at analyzing other people’s work, good at synthesizing other people’s ideas. i am bad at creating my own work and coming up with my own ideas. i have no clue how to fix this and it makes me very sad that i never have anything new to say

Angel Crowley

ok so I think I might have figured out Crowley's angelic status (i'm sure it's been done before but haven't seen anything much on it)

so when Muriel is showing him the document on Gabriel, they say you had be a Throne, a Dominion, or higher to open them, which of course Crowley could do. a Dominion is the highest rank of human-shaped angel before they get to eldritch-being-shaped, Thrones just above, and are like rings of eyes type ones. Crowley being so high ranking as to be in charge of literally starting the universe with no one overseeing that moment makes sense if he is one of the higher ranks, and also partially explains why he just got Aziraphale to hold the scroll for him - Aziraphale is a principality, the highest rank of angels that look after earth (which explains his position on earth, and his role in designing people) but still three levels below Dominion.

Dominions are also in charge of 'delivering justice in unjust situations and showing mercy to human beings, and they try to balance love and truth', which Crowley continues to do as a demon. They also guide lower ranking angels and help people learn from their mistakes. Crowley fits this pretty well - he saves Job's kids because they're innocent, sees the injustice of Elsbeth's life, is constantly on the balancing point of love and truth with Aziraphale, not to mention guiding him into seeing injustice, and trying (if slightly in vain) to get him to see his mistakes. and probably more examples i can't think of right now.

and, we know that he Fell because he was asking questions - questioning if it was really fair to end the world and everyone on it just because - he wanted mercy for the people. he was appalled that god was killing everyone in the flood, because he thought they were innocent. he tries over and over again to get Aziraphale to see the nuance in situations and show him that what he is doing is not always just and right just because heaven is doing it - Jobs kids being the prime example, and of course Armageddon, and let's not forget 'when heaven ends life on earth it will be just as dead as is hell ended it'. these fit the characteristics of a Dominion.

I saw another post theorising that he was a Virtue, who are in charge of the natural world (stars, making *sudden rainstorms* etc), but those are below Dominion so he wouldn't have been able to open the file, but that post did have a good point of, maybe the miracle he and Aziraphale did together was not only powerful because they did it together, but also because as an occult (or ethereal) being, Crowley is just quite powerful. he literally drove his Bentley flaming with hellfire for few hundred miles with the sheer force of his imagination.

that's my take on it anyways. i'm still not over how happy he looked creating the stars ahhhhhh it's going to be so tragic when we see his fall, especially if they show it through the lens of Aziraphale finding out about it.

In the Elise ice skating story Silver goes from a skater to a coach because he's afraid of his powers coming out during contests. So Silver still doesn't have complete control of his powers and worries about them activating when he doesn't want them to.

Also in that story he pulls a Katara and COMPLETELY STOPS THE RAIN.

That suits Silver, I feel; he is quite concerned with justice and honesty, and having his powers come out during a match would definitely give him an unfair advantage compared to the normal participants. That, or he gets disqualified immediately. Both of them would be quite bad for him! Since the translation of the story seems to focus a lot on the emotions felt by Elise (how she associates the song with her parents to the point she cannot perform to it, her doubts while practicing, the courage Silver gives her etc.), maybe they wanted to use that sentence to describe something similar to Silver and his own emotions that his powers are linked to? Otherwise, I can't really think of a reason why Silver's powers would suddenly activate during a competition.

And I believe he stopped the rain through forming a dome around the skating rink with said powers, which is quite impressive! Mundane utilities are one of the more fun things powers like Silver's can be applied to, in my opinion. Sure, Silver can stop Elise from landing wrong in her triple axel, but he can also make sure the skating rink stays dry. Best of both worlds!

grad school is just fighting with the worst online library database trying to find a workable edition of a semi-obscure text and going slowly rabid because all my “institutional access” and “third-party sources” can get me is:

- the crunchiest, highest contrast, most sandblasted, misaligned scan in existence of an original manuscript (no OCT or pdf available)

- one (1) verse translation on hathitrust from 1831 which has since been thoroughly lambasted for wildly inaccurate interpretation of the text

- an unpublished critical edition cited in the footnotes of 2 secondary scholarship pieces, available only via pleading email to the academic who wrote it and is now retired

+ an unrelated modern cookbook / memoir / high fantasy romance novel w/ the same or similar title
