I’ve seen a few people bestow the traffic come hat on Simon but I’m pretty sure you’re the first to make a proper AU of it, by which I mean going more into detail and all that jazz.

i gave her a tiny redesign by the way! just longer hair and a different outfit, i found the old design a bit too bland idk

very low effort comic just for funsies.. pretend simons wearing his date outfit i only realised halfway through that i drew him wearing his normal clothes LOL

swap simon doesn’t actively resent or act hostile towards ice betty, rather he just gets really miserable being around her. he is still afflicted with magic, madness and sadness obviously, and he yearns to cure her- but being around her, rather than making him frustrated just makes him really really upset. he still does stick around during elements and whatnot obviously though! and he does go to desperate measures to try and get her to remember him, but when they fail, he never lashes out, he probably just breaks down crying poor guy

How would your crownswap AU simon and betty react to their canon counterparts? ie. Ice King and Ice Princess or magic simon and magic betty

ohoho!!!! really good question! i think ice king and ice princess would get along perfectly, they’ve both finally met someone that really gets them, almost too well.. like they’ve met each other before….ohoho … conversely though i honestly don’t reaaally think magic simon and magic betty would get along all that well tbh! i think betty’s too fixated on her goal of getting her specific simon back to pay magic simon much notice, whereas magic simon’s just desperately trying to cling onto the past, and magic betty isn’t the same person she was back then. (nor is simon obviously but he’s got such a one track mind i doubt he’s really noticed all that much). so i think they’re both just too caught up in chasing or yearning for the unobtainable to really pay much attention to the fact that there’s another version of them around or whatverr

How's Ice Betty's relationship with Marcy?

it’s pretty similar to simon and marcy’s relationship in the actual show! she was very much a mother figure to marcy during the war. betty is naturally a lot more impulsive and sacrificial than simon however, so i imagine she put on the crown a lot more frequently than simon would’ve, in order to protect marceline- much to her dismay. i don’t think betty ever assumed simon to be dead after he disappeared into the future, so i like to think she stumbled across little marcy while searching for simon, and the two became a little family during the apocalypse :)

i don’t think betty ever made any tapes for marceline however, i think one day she just decided that she couldn’t be around marceline any longer, for her safety. so her leave was pretty abrupt for poor marceline :(

in the actual show, simon mentions that betty was able to cook a 4 star meal even after losing all of her supplies on an expedition, so i imagine she was very good at scrounging up food and other essentials for her and marcy during the apocalypse!

ice betty obviously doesn’t remember her history with marcy, however the two are still friends despite it all, their relationship is basically the same as marceline and ice king’s in the actual show

what bird would ice Betty think Simon looks like....

if you want a reaally specific answer.. i think an african green pigeon.. though realistically i doubt ice betty’s birdwatching knowledge delves deep enough to know any subspecies of pigeons or whatever,, and simons coat and hat colour fit a toucan pretty well as is so i think itd still be a toucan like it is in canon :D

if i may ask, how did the events of "betty" (s5ep48) play out in the swap au?

honestly, i imagine things play out pretty similarly to how they do in the original episode, with a few little differences. the crown is nullified by bellanoche causing betty to regain her sanity, yet her body is dying. she asks marceline to aid her in contacting simon through the power of hambo. however i don’t think simon would be the type of person to just jump through the portal impulsively. sooo i imagine rather than betty opening the portal to say goodbye, she actually opened it to directly ask simon to come with her- letting him know of the impending mushroom war that he most likely would not survive if he were to stay. this coupled with the chance to save betty convinces simon to leave his past and escape to ooo, where he enacts the rest of the episode pretty similarly to the original show- with him defeating bellanoche and restoring the magic to the crown. unlike simon in the original show pleading for betty to just let him die, swap au betty would be okay with simon enacting his plan. she’s not the type to accept death if there’s another option out, as much as she doesn’t like being the ice princess- plus, she has the tendency to just sorta go along with simon’s plans, as we know. after bellanoche is defeated, simon flees to further study magic, madness and sadness, in an attempt to save his fiancé- he even ends up writing a book on the topic because of course he does, and ice betty goes on with her life unaware of what even happened that day
