Today, Live @5! Could Maggie Wheeler as Janice on Friends be any funnier… her Linda, on Everybody Loves Raymond… or as co-star, Anita on Ellen… star turns on Seinfeld, Will & Grace, ER, How I Met Your Mother, Californication, Shameless, Ilene LOL Solotaroff on Curb Your Enthusiasm (a family favorite), The Parent Trap… so many others, I’m getting typing cramp thinking about them. There’s so much to this dynamo of talent, whom I’ve mainly known as another mother, always doing her best for her family.
I adore this woman onscreen and off and can't wait to spend some more time in her good company. Woohoo!

The year 2024 has already seen the passing of several iconic figures who left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. From legendary actors and Broadway stars to country music giants and rising young talents, these individuals enriched our lives through their creativity, talent, and passion. Let's pay tribute to some of the most notable names we've lost this year. Hollywood Remembers Farewell to a Champion: Carl Weathers (1948-2024) Carl Weathers, best known for his portrayal of the iconic Apollo Creed in the Rocky franchise, passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home at the age of 76. Weathers' career spanned decades, encompassing film, television, and theater. He brought a commanding presence and undeniable charisma to every role he played, whether it was the determined boxer challenging Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa, the seasoned hunter facing off against an alien threat in Predator, or the eccentric sportscaster in Happy Gilmore. His later years saw him take on memorable roles in shows like The Mandalorian, showcasing his versatility and enduring appeal. A Broadway Legend Takes a Final Bow: Chita Rivera (1933-2024) Chita Rivera, a towering figure in the world of musical theater, passed away at the age of 91 after a brief illness. Revered for her unparalleled dancing skills and captivating stage presence, Rivera's career spanned over seven decades. She originated iconic roles in groundbreaking musicals like West Side Story and Kiss of the Spider Woman, dazzling audiences with her athleticism and artistry. Her dedication to the craft and her tireless work ethic earned her numerous accolades, including a Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement. The King of Neurotic Humor: Richard Lewis (1948-2024) Comedian Richard Lewis, known for his self-deprecating humor and iconic portrayal of neurotic characters, died at 76 from a heart attack. Lewis's career began in stand-up comedy, where he honed his observational humor and signature nervous energy. He rose to mainstream fame with the sitcom Anything but Love, alongside Betty Buckley, and later found a new generation of fans with his recurring role as himself on Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm. Lewis's ability to find humor in everyday anxieties resonated with audiences, solidifying his place as a comedic legend. A Country Music Voice Goes Silent: Toby Keith (1961-2024) Country music icon Toby Keith passed away at the age of 62 after a courageous battle with stomach cancer. Keith, a singer, songwriter, and Oklahoma native achieved immense success with his patriotic anthems, relatable storytelling, and signature baritone voice. Songs like "Should've Been a Cowboy," "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue," and "Made in America" became cultural touchstones, resonating with fans across the country. With his unwavering dedication to his craft and his passionate live performances, Keith left an undeniable mark on the world of country music. A Rising Star Extinguished: Chance Perdomo (1997-2024) The entertainment industry mourned the tragic loss of young actor Chance Perdomo at the age of 27. Perdomo, who was on the cusp of a promising career, was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was best known for his roles as Ambrose Spellman in the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and M.M. in the Amazon series Gen V. His talent, charisma, and dedication to his craft left a lasting impression on audiences and colleagues alike. These are just a few of the talented individuals who have left us in 2024. Their contributions to the entertainment industry will continue to inspire and entertain for generations to come. Stays Krunchy in Milk Episode 531: Rather Bookish
I’m a be real with you, the show opens extra politically this week, if you can’t or don’t want to get down with that, fast forward about 20 minutes cause Tee is on one. A total eclipse is coming to North America and in particular Northeast Ohio and dang it, we are going to be prepared. Cleveland is getting some money for helping with environmental racism. The idea of Electric Cars is lightweight scarry when you black. Ant’s oldest celebrates a birthday and then gets to hang out with his uncles and chat. Dan’s roof and siding adventure finally comes to a close but not without a little more adventure. Tee catches you up on life with a diabetic dog before we head on over to Reddit for the week’s AITA before wrapping it up with our entertainment recommendations for the week.
Thanks,
Team SKiM
