I was talking about gender neutral names and shit with my sister while my dad was in the kitchen, and he turns to me while cooking and says, “Tell me, what does gender neutral mean?”

And I answer with, “something that isn’t directed towards a certain gender, it’s just kinda mid ground”

He says, “and why would you do that? Isn’t it boy or girl?”

I didn’t answer after that, and I turn my head to see my sister sighing, and my mom shaking her head from the other room

OC/CHARACTER NAMING TIPS

I LOVE making names for characters like actually

• Have a rough layout. Meaning, do you want a catchy name, name with meaning, some generic one, etc. Also, depending on if it’s a first or last name, things can change

• Is this character a self insert/sona/based off you? Because your hobbies/interests can benefit that name

• A name with meaning can be pulled from flowers, colors, root words, gods/goddesses, spiritual meanings, google “what name means [insert word]”, etc ya get the gist

-Ex: I pulled the name Iris from the purple iris flower, meaning wisdom, strength, and courage (each iris color varies in meaning). But it’s also the name of a Greek goddess, who is the goddess of rainbows and a messenger for major gods, she’s also very often depicted with golden wings and extreme beauty. Then again Iris is just a nice sounding name, that at first glance, sounds peaceful or graceful (I dive deep and commit to this stuff so)

• A catchy name doesn’t necessarily need to have meaning if it sounds good, right?

-a catchy name purely serves the purpose of sound nice/rolling off the tongue nicely

• And a generic name is self-explanatory; find some random ass name and use it

It’s all your preference, do what you want

⚠️GRAPHIC IMAGERY⚠️

10:39 PM, I just got a huge bolt of inspo and I wanna share it now:3

So this girl, she’s an artist in the 1930s that specializes in inking, but she’s a criminal. She’s a mass murderer, who usually finishes her victims with brutal methods

Well, one day, she was finally caught, just sitting in her office drawing. Some guy heard of her crimes and went after her himself, stalking her to finally strike.

She was stabbed in the back with her own calligraphy, and dip pens. Autopsy also revealed ink in her throat and stomach, implying he poured it down her mouth, possibly even drowning her

Well, this lady was special. When she was sent down, she became what demons call ‘The Summoned’. ‘The Summoned’ are a group of randomly selected demons that can be summoned by the mortals above

They usually take form based on how they die (Like Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss), and because she died via ink related items, she took the form of the rubber hose she drew, a drippy, black, ink demon (Bendy style). ‘The Summoned’ have to write their own ritual based on rules and practices from the mortal world

She didn’t really want any blood in her ritual, so she stuck to the ink ideas, but because blood wasn’t included in her ritual, she had to use more complex spells and methods to get her powerful enough to be summoned

(I won’t go into full detail on the ritual, but I’ll give a peek) Spooky circle with specifically beeswax candles, paper and calligraphy supplies, a bottle of ink at least 30ml, and some spook chants

When summoned, she could specialize in creating torturous scenes in a person’s mind. She would strap you down, place ink over your eyelids like an eye mask, and create a virtual scene inside your head.

These scenes would cause physical pain, without causing any real damage (The Giver style), it would put you into a first-person view of a situation, and you wouldn’t be able to control your actions at all, only watch and feel

Maybe I’ll draw an image of her rq, but idk

I’ll also eventually add more to her background when the time comes:3
