Thoughts on the new DEH UK Tour Poster:

Extremely pretty colors and interesting layout. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I like this so much more than the Broadway poster.

That said, uh...this is extremely not the vibe of the show. It looks much closer to a Be More Chill poster imo.

dear evan hansen is closing on broadway today. in honor of this, I am going to get annoyingly personal and sentimental with a brief little story:

on april 4, 2021, I was seriously depressed and my mental health was at an all time low. in an effort to get some awful feelings out of my system, I wrote a two-page rant following an evan-hansen-style letter format. trying to keep the tone from getting too dark, I half-jokingly included the line: “The main fucking thing keeping me going is the fact that I haven’t seen Dear Evan Hansen on broadway yet.”

on april 7, 2022, almost exactly one year later, I sat down in the first row of the mezzanine section and watched the broadway cast of dear evan hansen perform live in the music box theater. shit gets better. I promise <3

thank you to the cast and crew of every production of dear evan hansen for creating a show that has helped thousands of people like me over the past several years. this show has brought so many incredible people into my life, including some of my closest friends. from arena stage to the music box theater and beyond, you have provided a sense of comfort, understanding, and belonging to everyone who needed to be found. words truly DO fail to express how grateful I am that this show- and the memories that came along with it- made its way into my life.

The one thing I'll say for living close to a city is that I get to go see shows a hell of a lot more often than I would otherwise which I really do appreciate.

Anyway it was a fantastic show and as usual, I have full audio to trade. Right before For Forever, there was a "all cast and crew please leave the stage" announcement and we were on pause for about 20 minutes before Pierce Wheeler came on to replace Jeffrey Cornelius as Evan for the rest of the show, so there's a weird gap there unfortunately.

However I will say that the star of the show was absolutely August Emerson as Connor, he has an incredible voice and just was amazing

#that does not actually mean I like cities #but if anyone has a full jeffrey cornelius show available to trade for something I'd absolutely love that?? #he was really good #we saw august and pierce leaving the theatre shortly after the show #which was exceptionally weird since they were just walking along with the rest of the crowd leaving the theatre #off to go take a break before the matinee I think #I wouldn’t have even recognized them if not for august’s bleached hair #was I mildly tempted to go bother them with some theatre questions #and ask about what it’s genuinely like trying to get employed in the theatre industry #since that’s my one big fear when I get out of college #yes I absolutely was #but chickened out even when they were right there #anyway the show was 10/10 even with the interruption #no way that would go as smoothly at my own school theatre #dear evan hansen #deh #dear evan hansen tour #jeffrey cornelius #august emerson #reese sebastian diaz

I just got back from seeing Dear Evan Hansen

 a) it was amazing and i cried a lot because im a sad bitch and 

b) they changed the “very school shooter chic” line at the very beginning of the show. It’s probably the better choice, sensitivity wise but it changes the dynamic just a touch

i was scrolling through the matt kemp tag and saw one of your posts about loving his evan and you are SO RIGHT. matt kemp is forever my fav evan, i saw him last year during his hometown performance and he was simply incredible (sorry to send an ask talking about a post i think you probably made forever ago, but god i don't see people talk about his evan enough).

Wait...did you see the Saturday matinee in Rochester?? Because if so, then we literally saw the exact same performance.

But yeah, he was IMMACULATE. I'd actually been praying for him to go on as Jared but seeing his Evan was such a blessing. He highlighted Evan's kindness and empathy at the beginning so perfectly, and then his downward spiral in Act 2 was unbelievably raw. I was way back in the balcony and I could still tell how wet his face was from all the sweat and tears and probably spit. You probably saw my post where I said it, but he really seemed to be aware of the physical side effects and stopping antidepressants and conscientiously showing how they affected Evan.

Damn did I see me at my cousins funeral also dealing with a similar grief and trying NOT to #For so long to keep the rest of the family together #And that moment of breaking was so fucking real and I just started sobbing #Deh NEEDS to be seen on stage to possibly comprehend it and it’s weirdo story and that’s kinda it’s biggest flaw lmao #The synopsis and the actual intricacies of the emotions in the show are so far off.
