Sunday skate school.

Teem 4. Adult freestyle 3B and 4B

Elements worked on: back spin combination spin, toe loop, loop.

Was really looking forward to today. They had split up the class as it was too big last time.

I have jasmine again which i thought was good. But she less than happy with situation.

Things got immediately frustrating after that. First we worked on back spin. I couldn't get on the correct part of my blade. Which I suspected made jasmine think I wasn't listening. I was I just couldn't make it work.

Then on to combination spin. Which also didn't work because back spin isn't working.

Finally got a break with toe loop. No drama there.

Then loop. Which also didn't work. Jasmine's method/explanations didn't help even when I understood what she was saying. At the end of class she mentioned trying to find another coach for me 'with fresh eyes' for spins.

Safe to say i think things have run their cause with this coach/student relationship. Which is a problem as I've pre paid for the term. It has me questioning whether or not to continue with it next year as feel like I'll fail again already.

I want to put it out of my head for now. I will not improve if all I can think about is failing.

okay so let me explain. so Neopets.com is run by Netdragon who has a CEO who is an AI and they recently deleted the accounts of Adam and Donna, the literal creators of neopets.com and long story short, the newbie chat on neopets.com has been the general discussion board for like 2 decades despite it being called 'the newbie chat' but one day I refresh the page and they have gentrified our home and it's called 'new to neopets' now and I'm like wat and TNT makes a post announcing there is now an official general chat which people (not me) have been asking for for years and a lot of people are so happy it's back and begin posting away on it but then a day later TNT makes up a brand new rule with no warning that we cannot dare talk about anything not directly neopets.com related on any of the boards anymore including non-neopian food and clothing (if you mention hats they MUST be hats that exist on neopets.com or ur account could literally die. this is an actual example given by a staff member in an email) and they began freezing and silencing people who had posted non neopets related things on a board called 'general discussion' which they never announced or explained the rules for whatsoever, and people only found out the rules because users began posting the warnings they received which actually explained the rules to them and people literally had to email staff to get the rules figured out and then post screenshots for everyone else to see because of course TNT couldn't do that for us themselves and then finally TNT makes an announcement that says no non-neopets talk is allowed on the general chat but then they they start freezing and warning people on the newbie chat too for posts that were made days before the rules changed and this is all because neopets wants to be 100% child friendly now except they are selling neopets.com wine glasses as merch and have held multiple events at bars you obviously have to be 21+ to go to and are encouraging players to go on Reddit, and they made a sorry mommy sorry meme tik tok of their neopets faerie characters on their official neopets.com tik tok oh and also the april fools day joke this year was about this child character from the early 2000s Nick Neopia who used to be this totally radical skater guy but is now a full grown thinly veiled Q-anon-esque conspiracy theorist who ranted about 'the globalist' which is an antisemitic dogwhistle and lets not forget the plot about staff members being brutally murdered either idc if it was years ago and so people are getting frozen and their pets obliterated for asking other players simple questions and yet there has been a board about BDSM up for literal hours while TNT is actively taking down other posts ALSO this was all after both the huge NFT and massive data leak scandals. does this make sense so far? are you following??

Rajbow week day 3: Any AU

I know I’m late but uni started back up so I’ve been busy :( Better late than never!

This is an AU I’ve been working on, on and off, Gem AU! More info under the cut if you’re curious, it’s LONG.

This is Gem AU, works like a lot of the other SU based AU where it’s a different universe than the cartoon, they don’t exist alongside Steven and the crystal gems or anything like that. They’re in their own bubble, the only similarities is that they’re gems with powers and some core ideas like gem rebellion.

Since this post is for Rajbow week, I’ll only go over their basic information (They’re the most complete as of now anyway.)

Raj is a Celestine. (Fully goes by Raj in the rebellion)

In this AU, Celestines are entertainers, specifically ice skaters. His summoned ‘item’ are a set of ice wings, similar to Lapis in canon. (The hockey stick is something he requested further into the rebellion.)

He has ice powers where he can summon ice, but not fully manipulate them. For example, he can turn frost the floor as he skates, he can summon spikes of ice to use as weapons, but he can’t freely shape the ice.

Because they’re versatile, Celestines are considered decently high-end, and are often accompanied by a Snow Quartz. ;)

Bowie is a Fluorite. (Fully goes by Bowie later in the rebellion)

In this AU, Fluorites are battle strategists, ranked much higher than pearls but still works under their assigned bosses. In Bowie’s case— Well…It’s unimportant now. His summoned weapon is a dagger, perfect for stealth.

Fluorite has the power to purity, this encompasses minor healing, cleansing, sometimes the more trained Fluorites can delete data from technology too. He was also given technology similar to Peridot and Pearl’s display screens.

This is a very outdated ref, since I completely overhauled their colors, but it’s fine I’ll update it later.

This is (outdated palette) Purple-Blue Ammolite! (He/They)

Ammolite is Raj and Bowie’s fusion, and their combined weapon is a scythe. (At this point, Raj had already acquired his hockey stick) However, Ammolite also has heart-shaped wings from Raj’s ice wings and Bowie’s digital screens.

Ammolite is an extremely stable fusion. They’re not exactly a permanent fusion, but Raj and Bowie do spend a lot of time fused, and they could stay fused for as long as they want. They have Bowie’s wits, sass, and the need to always look good, and they have Raj’s impulsiveness, loyalty, and pure unadulterated energy.

D'ya think Illya has a normal endocrine system, like pituitary and gonads and stuff? Like, okay, we make a magical little girl, put all her stats in to magic and just barely not dying, and then overload her with a big guy. Cool, makes some sense. But is her slowed physical ageing just "oh it coincidentally makes her not go through puberty but also die early" orrr... Are both related to the more fundamental "she has bits missing to make room for more magic circuits". Like, having a more physically matured master would be a clear advantage, but if removing that makes room for Heracles fuel then that's probably the go. Or makes sure she doesn't have any change/get lost, like a figure skater losing jumps.

before I give the watsonian answer, the doylist answer is as follows: takeuchi and nasu thought illya being small and cute would contrast nicely with how enormous and scary berserker was

almost all (fairly sure but I'm covering my bases here) homunculi have something weird going on with their aging. it's not really clear if illya, as the child of iri and kiritsugu, would've had a full endocrine system to begin with (despite what urobuchi implied in zero through kiritsugu's incredibly astute assessment of her), but she probably wouldn't have

to cut a ramble short (I deleted three paragraphs of it), illya's stunted aging, capacity to control berserker, magecraft potential, and short lifespan are all directly connected

her growth was stunted as part of the pre-birth preparation for later surgery. when kiritsugu failed and the einzberns moved onto phase two, they surgically implanted magic circuits into her that would directly drain her life through their use. presumably, the surgery itself also shortened her life

mostly an aside, because this specific design may not still be canon, but you could also get an answer from the shape of illya's "command spells" (her magic circuitry glowing) in f/sn

Some (Unorganized) Musings On A Year In the Unoverse

With Worlds 2023 over, it has been officially a year, more or less, of me having become a fan of Shoma, as I started following him at Worlds 2022 (so not exact year but I figured Worlds is easier to track than exact dates, sue me), so I felt like sharing some unasked for thoughts.

So this whole mess started with the Olympics, when figure skating was trending just about every day on tumblr. “But Wolf,” you might say, “Didn’t you say you became a fan of Shoma at Worlds?” Well, yes, cause see, it wasn’t Shoma that caught my attention, it was Yuzu. I saw gifs of him and people stressing over him showing up and found it mesmerizing, so I decided to follow along with his short. 

Well, we all know what happened at the short. The cursed hole.

Anyway, I watched a few of his other performances, mainly Notte Stellata and Hope & Legacy at Worlds 2017 and Ballade No. 1 at the 2018 Olys. And during all this, the doping scandal was going on and I got to watch, real time (I would look at live updates on the figure skating subreddit) as all that drama unfolded and got to witness the nonsense that was the IOC and ISU. Well, that soured me some, I feel, that plus the Olys being in Beijing and not having the energy to watch it all for one skater meant I didn’t watch the free, alas. I tried watching the gala, but that was my first real experience with how garbage skating coverage is in the US, but I did get to see Haru Yo Koi. It was beautiful.

And, by all indications, that was going to be it.

But wait, isn’t this supposed to be about Shoma? We’re getting to that, be patient! Why are you reading this anyway, I’m not important. This is just me rambling. Unorganized rambling where I’m getting the order of things and the exact circumstances confused...

Anyway, fast forward to Worlds a month later. I didn’t really care, tbh, I was still watching the subreddit, I think. And thing is, Yuzu wasn’t quite clicking with me. He is an amazing skater, but something wasn’t clicking with me that clicked with other people. I still liked him, and I loved watching his performances, very moving, but something was... missing for me. And as he would retire after Worlds, I may very well have left my brief look into figure skating at that.

Unfortunately, I saw this other Japanese skater wearing this gorgeous red costume do happy hops after completing his short at Worlds and I went, “oh I love him.”

AND I WAS DOOMED, I TELL YOU, DOOMED.

That was Shoma after finishing his short at Worlds. I don’t know if I saw it on twitter (twitter, that site I hadn’t logged into for over a year at that point and would wind up deleting once ownership changed, but I could still browse) or reddit or here, but I saw it and I loved it. Something about that grabbed me. I watched him do his free, I watched that glorious step sequence at the end and him claim his first World medal. I was hooked. My attention had been grabbed.

Why did Shoma catch my attention when Yuzu hadn’t, when I didn’t even watch Shoma’s performances at the Olys? I don’t know. Maybe it was cause Yuzu would wind up retiring after Worlds. Maybe it was something about the triumphant nature of Bolero at Worlds. Maybe it was the costumes. Maybe it was *sigh* the atmosphere of Yuzu’s fanbase was... not something I particularly liked. Maybe it was Shoma’s story of him going through a tough coachless year and him finding Stephane and how it all culminated, ultimately, in that first Worlds medal. Maybe it was cause, while Yuzu seemed like a spirit of the ice given human form to grace us with his beautiful skating, Shoma seemed like Just A Guy who went out there and Did His Best (and turned out his best was damn good), and I found him more relatable, ultimately, as I learned more about him as a person who loves sleeping and eating meat and hates vegetables. Mood.

Maybe I’m just gay and thought Shoma was more attractive than Yuzu. Maybe this all happened cause I’m very shallow.

Regardless, I became part of the Unoverse. I wound up keeping up with a lot of relevant twitter accounts even though I could only observe, wishing all of them were on tumblr. I followed several Unoverse tumblrs here (special shoutouts to @myjunkisyuzuruhanyu and @vilyae for all the info and pictures and such), I read the figure skating subreddit. I watched the fans deal with... an annoying amount of hate from others for reasons that infuriated and befuddled me. I learned way too much about the season schedules.

I watched Turandot at the 2018 Olys. I watched his triumphant DOMO at JNats 2019 (god, those twizzles. And that utter happiness during the step sequence). I watched La Vie En Rose at MoI 2019 (that skate is so beautiful and gentle...). I would slowly watch all of his programs at least once over the year and fall that cantilever every single time...

I watched his videos on his own YT channel where he could not do English, even as I myself didn’t understand a word he said. I watched Unowan and him constantly being attacked by puppies. I saved way too many pictures to my phone (as of this writing, 2434 photos).

I watched as the fans waited for him to announce his programs for the season. I watched the first performances of Gravity and Aria in shows. I then... got to experience the joys of watching figure skating in the United States without a VPN or Peacock. I wound up watching Aria from Skate Canada on NBC’s “highlights” broadcast, but for every other performance of the GP (INCLUDING THE GPF, WHY WASN’T THE GPF PROPERLY TAPED FOR A BROADCAST ACROSS ALL DISCIPLINES) I had to stick to embed videos on twitter, ultimately, besides maybe a few here and there on youtube (for whatever reason, it seems to me his programs this season are really hard to find on YT versus every other program he has, it’s annoying). I got to see him finally win the GPF. I got to finally watch a good performance of Padam, Padam from JNats on YT (before it got taken down).

And then I got to witness the emotional roller coaster that was this Worlds as he struggled with injury and I prayed he wouldn’t injure himself further and hopefully take the victory and defend his World Champion status.

And he did. I didn’t watch it live cause time zones, but I watched Aria on NBC’s highlights and saw it. It was a good thing to wake up to. The utter joy and finding out he’s the first Japanese man to win consecutive golds in Worlds.

And now here we are. There’s still WTT, but I still wanted to write this, now. Then the season will be over and we’ll be in the offseason, waiting for shows (including him and Yuzu skating together at SoI!), waiting for new program announcements. For it all to start again. There was a small article about him winning Worlds in my local paper today, and I was so happy. I hope to keep it.

I am... still not all that invested in figure skating as a whole, ultimately. If he retired tomorrow (he’s not retiring, for the record), I would peace out then and there. Even without the... Everything regarding the ISU and such (please don’t let Russia back in...), watching this sport in the US is... hard, and I don’t have investment in other skaters to make an effort, for better or worse. That’s not a slight on them, I just have other things in my life.

Still, I’ll be here until he does retire, and I hope that he’ll skate as long as he’s happy and healthy doing it. And maybe he’ll make it to the 2026 Olys and finally get that gold.

an active harry potter roleplay account on the forums of mugglenet, a pretty popular marauders fanfic on fanfiction.net (you recently started posting there instead of harrypotterfanfiction.com, GROWTH!), and... a FLOURISHING onceler fandom blog on tumblr. you loved that little skrunkly man and the community you found on this little hellsite. but only two years later in 2014, you would get recruited out of college to become an air traffic controller (a BIG GIRL JOB) and so you knew what had to be done - you smothered her. 2012 you had to BURN, it was the only way to grow into the woman you wanted to be. so you tucked away weasley nicknames, and unsubscribed to jily fanfics (okay... you took like a 7 month break but you didn't last long let's be honest with ourselves), told your followers that your fic was abandoned, and deleted your tumblr. the onceler was no more.

and so, you moved on!

and so, you moved on...

until 2020 when a terrifying pandemic hit and you had reached the end of the harry potter fanfics on ao3 (you were scraping the BOTTOM of the rarepair barrel by that point) and you saw something trending on twitter - the DreamSMP. and so you decided to check it out completely unaware that it would lead you down the path putting you closer to the you in 2012 than anything else before hand.

and you found yourself again. the you that loved fandom deeply, that cosplayed and geeked out with others over the stories they loved. perhaps burning her in 2014 created the environment where she, now THEY, could flourish - not in secret but unabashedly. bringing us here - to this very moment at the end of the year 2022, in the dark days of twitter creating a tumblr again.

However I think about it, it should be Doyoung who asked Taeil to delete the IG story.

The content was very normal, idols often post snippets of their dinners.

The faces of Japanese customers in the restaurant weren't clear enough to worry about privacy. Plus Taeil could have re-uploaded the video with applied stickers for cencorship.

The restaurant staff won't allow disturbance of their customers. And Japanese fans won't try to mob the restaurant in the first place. It's not a problem if the place was famous and easily recognisebale.

The video was deleted very quickly for managers from home to react. Doyoung, on the other hand, most probably gets notifs for neo's IGs. And he simply could have seen Taeil's action.

Doyoung is very concious of the content available to the public. Yes, he sometimes makes slip ups, but those slip ups (like the earthquake case during "Universe" promotion) make him even more paranoid.

Do likes to follow through with his ideas. When the skater said Do's winning celebration wasn't impressive (Do fell to the floor and beat the ice with his fit "in triumph"), Do still stubbornly used his idea twice later during the programme. And he often overdoes things, he sometimes has one-track mind.

The hiding might look inconsistent, but think how a person tries to go on a diet: there are constant failures and empty boxes of chocolate candies, and yet every new day is the day for another zero sugar attempt.

Dinners are "outside of work" events, there is no excuse of "did it for content" (like games). Maybe right after Taeil stopped filming Jae said something to Do, and Do thought it went into the story, so he asked Taeil to delete it without cheking the result. Maybe he didn't want to reveal even just the fact of JaeDo sitting together (not after all the trouble of not walking the streets together and instead strenghtening ships like JaeWoo).

Jaehyun doesn't like it, but Jaehyun complies. The not-a-grab of the shoulder, the quickly removed arm from Do's back. Seeing how Jaehyun, a guy who likes PDA, is so overly cautious himself, points at Doyoung having a firm stance on the matter.

And the thing about most of the Fanyus is that they're stupid sheeps. They'll like and believe anything that supports their opinions even if it's NOT FACTUAL. Remember that Ukrainian judge? Some of them tweeted that Shoma started dating Marin when he was 23 and she was 14 when a simple google check can disprove that (later said they were exaggerating but didn't care enough to delete it). It's straight out Q Anon territory out there and no one cares enough to call them out.

People just get tired of calling them out knowing it won't change anything, there's no changing that cult, most of the people in it are too far gone and the few fanyus who dare call them out for things like bullying a minor or making shit up about skaters are automatically declared as fake fans of Yuzu who are only pretending to be his fans so they can somehow hurt him, it's all super insane tbh.

Their response to his YouTube channel are beyond ridiculous tbh, as @macaroni-rascal said they all act like they've never seen a YouTube channel in their lives. I get getting excited about exposure, when TS started getting a lot of followers and views for their programs around January 2018 I was super excited about it and posted about it several times. But what they are doing is different. First, in Yuzu's case I think it's a safe bet to assume that the subscribers are not new fans but mostly his usual cult, same goes for the views he s getting - it's a safe bet that a lot of it is repeated viewing by fanyus. Still, it's a great achievement by him and I think many would have been more eager to congratulate if fanyus weren't obnoxious about it and trying to pretend it's another proof of why he is their self-proclaimed god.

What's even worse is they are involving money into it, feeling sorry for Yuzu that he spends so much on them with his live practice sessions (???) and wanting to donate money to him to help him financially (?????). Because sure, if you want to donate money what better cause is it than a skater in his mid-20s who made tons of money from sponsorships, shows, and prize money. This, of course, is not a surprise at all and @macaroni-rascal are basically counting the days until that YouTube channel will become some kind of money making tool (either by adding ads or selling merchandise or both).
