The family at 24 Mountain Road is really interesting to me. You see a few arguments between Robin and Demetrius, and hear Demetrius say his wife has a temper (and then he tells you not to tell her he said that), but they also stand outside and watch the town from the cliffs all the time. They go to the saloon on Fridays and dance together. In Emily's 8 heart event, the first thing Robin does is go to show Demetrius her new outfit. They love each other! They really do!

...but then when you get their kids in the picture the family's a nightmare. Sebastian, your sister isn't friendly to get attention, your stepfather is just really bad about favoritism. Maru, I'm sorry your brother resents you because of that, it's nothing you did. Please talk to each other. Demetrius, you're the stepdad so step the fuck up. Arguing over Robin's use of hardwood for a giant bed is normal but having that argument WHILE BOTH KIDS ARE IN THE ROOM???? GUYS WHAT ARE YOU DOING

it rubs me the wrong way that the Stardew community hates Demetrius and Clint. Demetrius, being one of two black people in the town and neurodivergent coded, and Clint, someone who pretty clearly has some sort of social anxiety (or is just shy and lonely but either way I feel for him).

Like... the community is kind of abelist but will never acknowledge it and will attack you for pointing it out. It's subconcious racism and abelism. Especially when the other characters have just as many flaws.

AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE HALEY DEBATE. You cannot convince me she would be treated the same if she was a man. No way. She'd be everyone's beloved 'himbo'.

ok hot take but i actually kind of like demetrius sdv. genuinely i think he's just deeply socially awkward and autistic. he's overprotective of maru but i think it's because he wants to do right by her. give this man a year or two of therapy and we've got a solid guy on our hands.

Blocking people who hate Demetrius for no reason because he's literally the coolest guy. He gives you mushrooms and it's mutually beneficial. He's sweet, he loves his wife and his family, even if he and Sebastian don't have a perfect relationship, but you can tell he wants to get along. He looks like he gives good hugs with his strong dad arms. I love being friends with him. He's weird about Maru in that ONE heart event, as any dads are when it comes to their offspring's future!

Relationship goals are standing together beside a cliff to watch the sunset after a busy day of work while side hugging.

I love you Demetrius. So much so that two of my sdv ocs sees you as a father figure.

EDIT: AND ONE MORE THING, when he says he thinks Sebastian should've moved out already, he also wants the boy to spread his wings! You can tell Robin and Demetrius worry about Sebastian being such an introvert and want him to see the world- *gasp* as Sebby wants himself to do!

EDIT: AND ANOTHER THING, why are people adamant that Robin divorce him for disagreements they have?? Have you never met a married couple? My own grandparents bicker so much when I was little I thought they were fighting, but really that's how they communicate to each other. To bystanders who don't know them, one would think they're being malicious. People who love each other fight sometimes. It doesn't mean they hate each other. Heaven forbid people in a romantic relationship have differing opinions on mundane things. Stop thinking Robin should divorce him for the stupidest things. He doesn't like the bed she made? That's on him. Divorce over it? NO????
