frankly i think will already has confessed first. once mike realizes that el didn't commission the painting, he's gonna put the pieces together. slowly, very slowly, but together nonetheless.

id do it like: mike finds out about painting. feels weird, also gets pissed abt will lying. will+mike fight 2: electric boogaloo (abt the painting). breaks bad. theyre not necessarily on speaking terms. mike has time to think (like episode long type time), still in a lot of turmoil but calming down a little. group mission, will gets in serious danger. once he's saved, mike just like...holds him. has his "i can't lose you" moment. that's mike's confession.
