The other game! explanation (an undertale au)
If you want to skip the back story I’ve marked we’re you can start reading for What the world is.(it’s in red)
I feel like I’ve never called it and undertale au but that’s what it is. Okay so the other game is a world that me and my sister have been working on for years (when i say years i mean it started august of 2019)
My sister and I were very cringy and started an undertale role playing game. I was Chara and Sans and she was asriel and frisk. We basically just played there day to day lives on the service and we had a lot of fun with it.
This was 2018 and i didnt know how to draw boys at the time (did other people have that struggle?) So when I had the thought of making an au where they are all humans I decided to make them girls instead.
Eventually I changed it so the errors, nightmares, and epic were all boys and dream, cross, and ink stayed girls. I proposed playing this game with my sister too and we did.
I picked those six because there (in my opinion and observation) the most popular (epic I just really like.)
She generally only plays as a dream and occasionally epic.
I'm the rest.
We didn't have a name for it so we just called it “the other game” we had the undertale game (or utg for short.) so we just referred to it as the other game we did have the intention to name it eventually but we never did so “the other game” just stuck.

Their characters grew with us, it was so fun to play with character designs as an artist and backstories, turning the things that the original characters have and “humanifing” them was really fun, like for instance dreams constant urge to have to be perfect. What do you think that would do to a human teenage girl who lives in a regular human society?
We ended up changing a lot about them as we went on, epic’s gender changed and they over all grew as people with me.
Nightmare has always been a bit of a favorite of mine so naturally I connected with him, but all the characters have struggles.
We dug into their mental health a lot as well. Giving explanations for things that only their monster counterparts should have like errors glitches we ended up just using tourettes as “glitching out” we got into how their brains would work in these different circumstances.
Dream and Nightmare’s relationship is stable and seeing how that ended up affecting their characters. Making error and nightmare warm up to the group was one of my favourite character developments to play with.
To sum up the world there human versions of those six who’s genders vary. They're just this cute friend group.
I’ve worked so hard on this world that I thought why keep it to myself anymore share it.
I also want to mention that there are ships if you don’t agree with them I’m completely fine with that. But the world really doesn’t rely on the ships for plot. (I did pick these ships when I was nine and can’t bring myself to change them so give me a break.)
error and ink- I feel like the fandom kinda agrees on this one even if they don’t ship it
Dream and epic- I may have to explain this bc I’ve never seen this ship once in my life but I thought it was cute, like dreams friends with cross so that’s how they met idk I’ll explain that more in detail if someone wants me to.
Cross and nightmare- okay so I know this one’s a hit or miss with people but nightmare is a lot more like passive or even dreamswap so it works better ig
again I was nine when I picked this and I think it’s too late to change it we have to much plot around them
Another note is they are the only “ship” that doesn’t even happen really they end up never dating they had like a situationship (even though I hate that term) and it just never happened. Nightmare has a boyfriend who I made for the game and cross is happily single I can explain that more too if anyone wants me to.
That was a lot but I hope I find at least one other person who I can rant about this to bc I think my irl friends are sick of me talking about it.

Hey, is like dream/jr sexist? Like where are the females, is jr give gender equality? Why don't we see any women? I know like, everyone is kinda gay but, girls, they exist?
okay lemme lay it out for you
the utmv is a fandom dominated by male characters because like all of the characters are based on Sans Ness Undertale, and unfortunately, because nearly all of the characters in dreamswap were inspired by male characters, most of the main characters are men.
however, this doesn’t automatically mean that justice reigns is sexist. in fact, they are very equal opportunity, and sexism is heavily looked down on, and dream does not tolerate it. sadly, the sexism problem in the utmv fandom itself just ended up meaning that the main characters ended up being men, since dreamswap does have an origin as an alternate multiverse. I mean, I don’t think this is inherently bad in this kind of ambiguous story with many plotlines and no real story, because I like writing stories where queer men have problems and have feelings (thanks society, for raising boys to believe that having feelings is bad), but yeah, you’re right. there’s a distinct lack of women who have their own unique plotlines in the story, much less notably working for JR, and it actually bothers me too, but there isn’t a whole lot I can do about it at this point without adding a huge pile of ocs since the utmv isn’t helping provide much (of course, I could purposefully make utmv-based characters women–which actually is a very plausible thing to do). however, this does mean that, because dreamswap is constantly growing, I can always add more things to it in the future.
so, I hope you understand what I’m trying to say. lately I’ve been directing my attention to other places and stories and focusing on fixing my life and mental health at the same time, so I can’t really change much right away, nor is dreamswap a big focus for me right now, but I hope it does clear some things up as to why things are the way they are.

“I’m Lynx and I’m a Wolver.” she had met him before knowing her true roots, so she thought she was a Wolver.
“Nightmare Sans the Nightmare Prince.” he introduced.
“Where do you come from?” she asked.
“Unimportant, you would not like to go there at all, trust me kid, trust me kid.” he told.
“So, so, so, if that is really my friend then why did he try to run away? What the flip is the catch? He’s my Marey, my bestie, my best friend Night, and I know him and he knows me right? So, really, why? Our conversation lasted 2 seconds maybe 3 seconds and he was scared and I don’t know why I can’t help but wonder my choice, a strange little route and no right of my voice. He was friendly before but now he’s running away, I don’t know if that’s right but I shouldn’t just scare him, he wasn’t gooped up and he looked astray, was he even my bestie to say?
Marey, is that my Marey?
Why did he think I’m scary?
I wanna find a way to be his friend,
But then I turned and see Bells in the distance and they are-”
“Helpless~” she guessed that was Bells’ thought.
“And I know they are-” she sighed.

She sighed.

piperjam (ink × error kid): before it is, otherwise too sweet or too nostalgic pypatku, what I say is royal but not whali or domniuje another that immediately you are just right and he sees that someone is better in sport and otherwise only that it is normalmalsem, i.e. normal, not royal, but they will absorb it as it would be, or more like a sporty teenager or something like that.
gotch (dream × cross or same ink) :: he immediately says that he is like a piper dzem but a bad science olipada (eke: homework give 5 I'm a pet in the class and the other servants do not let my parents find out that he got 1 again) he is more ala adult because not only that my old comics stopped as one and the best that every class and lesson, but if another has the same, he will deliberately get 4 and not 5 because he wants to beat the king in class, it's not cute pie but total senior normals only get 4

Who exactly am I asking (I'm not familiar with the au sorry)
i haven’t really gone into much detail, the stuff that does exist is under the tag “unnamed au soup”, but here’s the basic premise:
it all takes place in one universe- they’re not outcodes. (so technically like Original Ink or someone could make a cameo) I’m not entirely sure how to explain said world itself at the moment, but I’ll say what I can on like. stuff in general.

Its disaster land and the (some of) them live in the disaster house
they’re just adult disaster children and its a disaster place because they can’t get along

-they’re all humans, because, in Kai’s words, (obviously not referring to this specifically) “make them hot humans”
-there’s magic stuff. but instead of monsters/humans there’s like humans/magical supernatural power humans
-magic isn’t exactly a secret in most places, in some it’s illegal and in some it’s treated normally with obvious restrictions like no selling you soul to become a magical girl so you can commit murder without being identified by just changing outfits.
-yes that’s a real law that had to be implemented
-Ink is illegal in like, half of the countries. don’t ask.
-some of the cities and/or houses are like. mobile.
-uhh idk can someone ask a few more specific questions im not good at general information
