anyways while im thinking about it the fucking stream where Sapnap and George went to Snowchester and vandalized it and "killed" a fake Michael AND FUCKING KILLED SHROUD just to get a reaction and to "get people to play on the server" is the second worst DSMP stream in existence (behind the fucking nuke one with c!dream) ESPECIALLY THEM TRYING TO DEFEND IT WITH "ohhhh we're just trying to get ppl on the server smile" AFTER FUCKING WITH THINGS PEOPLE CARED ABOUT which feels like it'd have the OPPOSITE effect. And I GUARANTEE Ranboo, Tubbo, or Tommy weren't asked about this at ALL, because why communicate with the other content creators if ur on the Dream Team obviously. IT WASN'T EVEN IN LIKE A ROLEPLAY WAY THEY JUST WANTED TO BE ASSHOLES. THAT STREAM FUCKING SUCKED ASS AND I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THAT IT SUCKS ASS

okay for as much as i'm clowning on the dsmp ending i'm genuinely glad it's over. NO MORE CANON BABY and that means we have free reign over fan content. closure is good.

and i'm genuinely glad i've stuck around for this long, because this community is INCREDIBLE. and so talented. and sure, maybe that spark that made me love the source material so much got stomped out, but the fandom still kept that fire going. that's pretty awesome, i think.

and FUCK the ending🖕there is no vol 2. to me. <3

I love how everyone puts so much effort into making sure Baghera is heard during all of this politics T_T

I’m just remembering the dsmp and how Nicki had to fight tooth and nail in every conversation to be heard because she was constantly talked over and ignored. It wasn’t until she joined the Arctic commune that she was respected and that was near the servers end :/

But here we have Baghera who is shown so much respect by everyone and is constantly given a platform to speak by the other ccs during casual conversation it’s just… this server man

It needs more women 100% but the way Jaiden and Baghera are respected and given a voice makes me so happy

ppl talking about how fucked the dsmp was by saying the smaller streamers were left to dry are correct but it’s also downplaying how shit things were. smaller streamers got the worst of it and it was shit don’t get me wrong but literally everyone got fucked over by it. tommy got his shit continuously griefed to the point he couldn’t even really do anything on the server for a while, was left with no communication or help on his ending for weeks on end, and constantly had the story he was clearly trying to tell with some very serious themes belittled and treated horrendously. quackity had lore plans going on into season 2 scrapped because of how the server fell apart along with being treated horrifically by fans. wilbur had to write a fic instead of streaming, while ranboo had to scrap whatever arg he was planning to make a twitter lore dump so his character even had the slightest scrap of an ending. literally everyone but the dream team got fucked over by the communication and disdain towards lore on the server.

looking at the dsmp restrospectively i think its obvious that a lot of it bit off more than it could chew, yknow? they touched on topics that these comedy focused streamers weren't really equipped to handle and it was inevitable theyd fumble. and thats fine! i dont think itd be fair to expect a perfect story given who was writing it. but some of the misteps in these finale streams..... like it almost takes EFFORT to write endings that confused,

Dsmp neg but

My strongest feelings about Wilbur’s lore stream really boil down to disagreeing with this consensus of,

‘The Dream SMP was always silly!! It’s always been silly! Dark and gloomy all the time doesn’t suit it, it’s heartfelt and emotional and shocking and wack and camp and deserved a silly ending!’

Like. This is the same stream as “I’m not letting you kill yourself Wilbur”

You don’t just. put the Funny Utah Isekai Right After That, that is tonal whiplash, to go from Tommy thinking Wilbur’s going to commit suicide to He’s From Utah.

It feels like it’s trying to give a S1 homage send-off while also being a Heavy S3 Drama, at the exact same time. And that just doesn’t work, not here.

Inconsolable balanced the tone Well because of how hard it tried to respect exile arc and the themes of suicide, it consciously let the tone flow as needed to levy the really dark tone with light bits, but it let the story have Weight.

But Sands isn’t even just ending on a silly note, it was Wilbur’s way of proving to Tommy he wasn’t going to commit suicide again?

Tommy’s side of it ended with him sobbing as Wilbur leaves. And as a whole the stream ends with Ghostbur getting friend. But between those bits, Wilbur’s screaming about how happy he is to go back to Utah, and the situation Loses tact or care or. well, Weight.

Even if we got that serious apology in the rain, it’s right next to that, and it doesn’t Feel Right.

And this is how Crime ends Forever. It’s how I’ll feel about this arc ending Forever and I don’t like it.

I’ve seen a decent amount of people comparing the vibes of the qsmp to the dsmp and I thought id give my two cents because there is a huge difference between these servers that I haven’t seen mentioned. I’m gonna put it under a cut so if u don’t care for the dsmp or this comparison ignore this post XD

So, the main thing, is that the dsmp was never intended to be a roll play server while the qsmp was 100% a role play server from the start- like that is the entire point lol

Because the dsmp was never intended to be an rp server, it didn’t have the infrastructure to support the collaboration required irl. There are so many horror stories of last minute script changes and people being left out of the loop for key events and its like... the server had had so much time to implement things irl to help with that but they didn’t because only a few people were running the show.

This is the other thing, the main lore and story was mainly driven by like 3 people so all the other ccs lore and plans were left in the dust. People were constantly being rainchecked on important lore events until it was too late and the server/audience had moved on or the lore that was there was belittled and mocked by the more popular ccs. And because these ccs didn’t take it seriously, neither did their massive audience. Most people only cared about lore where they were the center so collaborating was very difficult. It was really messed up and I’m still salty about a lot of it lol

My favorite arc on the dsmp was the eggpire arc because there were no main characters. Everyone involved was on equal footing and you could tell there was a lot of communication and planning irl and that everyone involved was passionate about the story they were telling. However, any time Tommy touched the lore, I would get so pissed because he was such an ass. Like, any lore Tommy touched that did not revolve around him, he ruined and I’m glad people stopped trying to involve him in the eggpire after like 1 or 2 streams lol He is one of the main reasons many fans thought the eggpire arc was a joke. He is just one example of a cc on the dsmp that had terrible rp etiquette, there were many more.

I think the end of the eggpire arc, the red banquet, was a victim of the more influential ccs on the server not wanting it to become the server ending threat it should have been. They wanted it to remain a side story. The lead up to the red banquet was so amazing and the stream itself was also so amazing but it just felt like the beginning of the eggpire’s arc! I was so confused when that was the end of the eggpire because - without changing anything about the red banquet - it opened the door for a truly great conclusion to the dsmp storyline that could have tied of everyone’s character arcs without it dragging on for another 1, 2?, years only for a weak ass finally.

I have an entire 40 chapter fic outlined where the red banquet is the beginning of the end for the server and its a banger - if i ever actually write it T_T

I’m going to briefly explain why the red banquet planted a future arc perfectly: the egg killed a demigod (Foolish) which could have given it enough energy to hatch or at least become close to it. Purpled could have been playing Quackity and BBH to get double payment and told BBH that Quackity was going to attack, that’s why Purpled didn’t chase after the eggpire when they were escaping - then, when Quackity destroyed his UFO, Purpled joins the eggpire to get revenge on Quackity. Everyone at the red banquet who ate the soup could have been infected by the egg and slowly brainwashed over the following days/weeks. Nicki (a member of the anarchist commune) was on the inside and could have been working with Techno, leading to the anarchist commune joining the fight against the egg as a whole. The Red Banquet was a false victory that put the rest of the server at ease while the eggpire was only growing stronger.

It could have been so good!!!! Screams.

But - my theory - is that bbh and the others had to wrap it up because the bigger ccs had “more important lore” that they wanted to do. The eggpire and red banquet arc felt the most close to the qsmp out of any lore on the dsmp which makes total sense as to why Quackity invited bbh since the eggpire was mainly his creation XD

I think Quackity learned a lot from the chaos and disorder of the dsmp behind the scenes and went out his way to ensure his server would not run into the same problems. Not only is there a solid infrastructure of admins and discord channels, he chooses to bring in ccs who are respectful and have good rp etiquette and know how to tell stories. Everyone has been wondering why Jaiden was added, including Jaiden XD, but it makes sense! She is a story teller and those are the types of people Quackity needed.

At the end of the day, the dsmp was never intended to become an rp server and was doomed by that from the start, just like L’manberg. There are plenty of wonderful stories that were told but so many more that were left in the shadows and forgotten due to poor rp etiquette and that will forever be a tragedy.

Also, the virgin Dream SMP ending on a victim killing himself and ending with him apologising to his abuser and it being portrayed as ““BOTH SIDES BAD TO A DEGREE MAYBE C!TOMMY SHOULD REALISE WHY HE GOT BEAT TO DEATH”” vs the Chad as fuck Owl House ending with a message that not all people can be redeemed and abusers will use manipulative tactics to try and worm their way into being the victim so you forgive them and that if you’ve given them every opportunity to change and they haven’t taken it it’s alright to cut them off and showing that children who’ve been through trauma can heal and recover and there’s no such thing as being too traumatised to heal!!!!!
