Hannah Waddingham Confronts Photographer Who Asked Her To “Show Leg”: “Don’t Be A Dick”
Hannah Waddingham called out a photographer at the Olivier Awards who apparently asked her to “show leg” as she posed for pictures.
The Emmy-winning Ted Lasso star hosted the London theatre awards on Sunday night and before the gong-giving got underway she walked the steps of the Royal Albert Hall.
As she stopped for photos, Waddingham confronted a snapper after hearing a comment about her legs, according to a video posted by a fan account.
“Oh my God, you’d never say that to a man,” Waddingham said. “Don’t be a dick otherwise I’ll move off. Don’t say ‘show me leg.’ No.”
The actress then shook her head and walked off. She continued to exchange words with the photographer as she moved on, raising her finger.
Succession star Sarah Snook and singer-actress Nicole Scherzinger were among the big winners at the 2024 Olivier Awards on Sunday.
Snook picked up the Best Actress gong for her multi-character performance in the Sydney Theatre Company’s version of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Scherzinger landed Best Actress in a Musical for her turn as Norma Desmond in the recent revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway-bound Sunset Boulevard.
Opening the awards, Waddingham performed a number with singer and pianist Joe Stilgoe. Waddingham, who will be seen on the big screen this year in The Fall Guy and Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2, also hosted last year’s ceremony.
Awards season is inching to a close with the last gasp of screenings coming up the week of January 8th. My favourite movie of the year is SALTBURN and Amazon-MGM is holding three screenings of it on the same day to end its FYC run. The same night Disney finally remembers THE CREATOR exists and is having a screening/Q&A with its director Gareth Edwards.
Notable award season dates:
Jan. 6th-7th: The Creative Arts Emmys. This is the portion of the Emmys that awards the winners of the Outstanding Guest Star category. TED LASSO has four in this category: Three who have all been previously nominated for their roles on the show: Harriet Walter, Sarah Niles and Sam Richardson; and newbie Becky Ann Baker as Dottie Lasso.
If James Lance wasn't promoted to regular, surely he would have received and likely won a S3 nomination in this category.
James and his hair situation with his fellow voice-over artists for the BBC Radio 4 show "We Forced a Bot to Write This Show".
Jan. 7th: The Golden Globes
Prayer circles for Barry Keoghan and Rosamund Pike for their work in SALTBURN and TED LASSO, Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham.
Wed. Jan. 10: The SAG-AFTRA awards nominations
Sun. Jan 14th: The Critics Choice Awards . Hate that there was no love for TED LASSO and that SALTBURN actors and the script was ignored (but at least the artisans were recognized).
They were robbed!
Really pulling for Da'Vine Joy Randolph of THE HOLDOVERS, Charles Melton of MAY DECEMBER and for Young Actor/Actress, Milo Machada Graner for ANATOMY OF THE FALL.
If Milo wasn't this category, I would be rooting for THE HOLDOVERS' Dominic Sessa who is in the same category. Though, Sessa will very likely win.
Mon. Jan 15th: The Primetime Emmys. We have nods for Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Phil Dunster, nods for outstanding writing, directing, editing, production design, VFX, hairstyling, original music & lyrics and series. I am just hoping for some wins.
Thurs. Jan. 18th: The BAFTA Film Awards nominations.
Tues. Jan 23rd: The Academy Awards nominations
During this time Sundance Film Festival will be live (Jan 18th-28th) ,there we will likely get a couple of presumptive nominees for 2024-2025 film awards season.
Tues. Jan. 23: Academy Awards nominations. I'm a broken record. I'm all in on SALTBURN, especially hoping for nominations for Barry Keoghan and Rosamund Pike.; and one for Best Film. But as I was all in on BABYLON last year and it got goose eggs, no film should want me as a fan.
I'm hoping for JA Bayona's SOCIETY OF THE SNOW gets a nom and win for Best International.
And as France didn't submit ANATOMY OF A FALL (I assume there's too much English spoken for it to qualify), I hope it gets the same love last year's ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT received and it's put up for Best Picture.
Sun. Feb. 18: BAFTA Awards.
Sat. Feb. 24: Screen Actors Guild Awards
Sun. Feb. 25: Spirit AwardsSun. Mar. 10: Academy Awards
Then we pause until late April and Emmy season kicks right up again and we continue the dance.
I mean this very affectionately, but how on earth does Phil Dunster come up with these things to say in interviews? I need to study his brain in a lab and also find out if he’s ever had media training 😭 Props to him for continuously mentioning the size of his ass and homosexual tendencies. I’m crossing my fingers for more unhinged content during his Emmy campaign
‘I need to study his brain in a lab’ I so real lmao. Some of the things he was saying on that ted lasso press tour… I still giggle. God I can’t wait for the Emmy’s. They’re saying he’s a long shot but he’s sooooo the people’s winner 💖
….on a different but related to Phil note are we ready to talk about the Hannah Waddingham Christmas Special duet clip? Or are we all still processing?

Tyrannis Hosts A City Meeting About Dealing With Medusa | KRAPOPOLIS
First Look at Krapopolis! the new animated TV series from Emmy Award-winner Dan Harmon ("Rick and Morty") is set in mythical Ancient Greece, following a flawed family of humans, gods and monsters, who try to run one of the world's first cities without killing each other, airing a sneak peek episode November 27, 2022, before the series premiere in 2023 on Fox: Voice cast includes Emmy Award winner Hannah Waddingham ("Ted Lasso"), Richard Ayoade ("The IT Crowd"), Matt Berry ("What We Do in The Shadows"), Pam Murphy ("Mapleworth Murders") and Duncan Trussell ("The Midnight Gospel"). Ayoade voices "Tyrannis", the mortal son of a goddess. He's the benevolent 'King of Krapopolis' trying to make do in a city that lives up to its name. Waddingham plays "Deliria," Tyrannis' mother, goddess of self-destruction and questionable choices. Within her extended 'Olympian' family - forged in patricide and infidelity - she's known as the trashy one. Berry is "Shlub," Tyrannis' father, a 'mantitaur' (half centaur, half manticore). He is oversexed and underemployed, claims to be an artist and has literally never paid for anything, in any sense of that word, for his entire life. Murphy voices "Stupendous," Tyrannis' half-sister, daughter of Deliria and a 'cyclops'. Trussell plays "Hippocampus," Tyrannis' half-brother, offspring of Shlub and a mermaid.
Jason Sudeikis is not sticking to his three-season plan for Apple TV+ comedy.
Hannah Waddingham, affirmed that there are no plans to continue the lauded show into its upcoming third season.
"I asked him recently," she said. "And he went, 'Yeah, I think so, for now.' And I was like, 'OK.'"
Hannah admitted that she was "gently gutted" by the news, adding, "I don't want to hang up those boots. I love her. She's my companion. She's my friend. And I love every inch of who he has created for me to play. And I will miss her like a friend."
Of course, the character - Rebecca Welton, the owner of AFC Richmond, has attracted admirers. Hannah received her second consecutive nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series on July 12. After receiving a trophy at the 2021 Emmy Awards, the actress is the current Emmy winner in the category.
The ever-humble Hannah is supporting Juno Temple and Sarah Niles, her Ted Lasso co-stars who are also up for the award in this category.
"Our WhatsApp group has blown up in a very different way this year," she shared. "It's obviously blown up because the ones of us who have been nominated before are so glad that we have our new greyhounds to join the family of nominees."
Hannah said it was "magic" that Ted Lasso received 20 nominations for the second year in a succession and added, "To be included in that is absolutely crazy."
See if Ted Lasso's Emmy winning streak continues on September 12 at 8 p.m. ET when the 2022 awards programme airs on NBC and Peacock.
Ted Lasso's first and second seasons are also available on Apple TV+.
