Genesis 5

5:1 It seems that this is yet another introduction to the book of Genesis. Also (might be due to language/grammar at the time) but it says that He (meaning God) made Adam in God's image. Would it not have been easier to say that God made man in His image? What does it mean to be made in God's image? Does that mean we just look like Him? Does it mean we carry some part of His essence?

5:2 Now it really is starting to sound like a third beginning. This time it is given as a summary of the previous events.

5:3-5 Interestingly it only mentions Adam's son Seth, not Cain and Abel, by name. Maybe it is trying to foreshadow something coming about from Seth, the child who fixes the problem of Cain.

5:6-8 Seth begot Enosh (only child mentioned by name).

5:9-11 Enosh begot Cainan

5:12-14 Cainan begot Mahalalel (all these people are living to around 900 years)

5:15-21 Mahalalel -> Jared -> Enoch -> Methuselah

5:22-23 Enoch was stated to be well pleasing to God for 200 years. Does that mean that Enoch lived a sinless life? Compared to everyone else, Enoch had lived the shortest of just about 300 years.

5:24 Enoch was "not found, for God translated him." What does that mean? When it says "not found" it probably means that Enoch no longer had a physical body on Earth. When you translate something, you convert it from one form to another, such as English to Spanish, but you retain the fundamental principles of the subject being converted. So maybe we can assume that God transferred Enoch's Earthly body into a Spiritual/Etherial one without changing Enoch's principles. What principles does one need in order to be "pleasing" to God so much as to be translated? Why would God translate Enoch when He could have just waited until Enoch had died?

5:25-28 Methuselah -> Lamech -> Noah

5:29 Noah was prescribed by Lamech to be the one who gives rest to the people. Noah, in this sense, is the redeemer of mankind. But why Noah, why not anyone else earlier or later?

5:30-32 Lamech lived to around 700. Noah had Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Other Remarks:

The lineage of Seth and the lineage of Cain seem to share similarities in terms of names:

Cain -> Enoch -> Irad -> Mehujael -> Methushael ->Lamech -> wife 1: Jabal and Jubal; wife 2: Tubal-Cain and Naamah

Seth -> Enosh -> Cainan -> Mahalalel -> Jared -> Enoch -> Methuselah -> Lamech -> Noah -> Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Through this lineage, we see 2 Enochs, Mehujael vs. Mahalalel, Methushael vs. Methuselah, and 2 Lamechs.

God might have translated Enoch to save him from the pains of the Earth (?)

Names are already seen to be duplicated, which means that the names are supposed to signify something and that each time a child is named, they are supposed to be the promised fulfiller of that prescribed name.

Interesting to see the juxtaposition of the two Lamechs. One brings attention to himself as a killer and wants everyone to fear him. The other brings attention to his son, Noah, to be the redeemer of the suffering of humankind.

OSB Commentary brings an interesting point concerning Adam, Eve, and Seth in relation to the Trinity. It states that Adam is unbegotten, Eve proceeds from Adam, and Seth is begotten of the Father. This is a parallel to the idea of the Trinity and how the Father is unbegotten, the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father, and the Son is begotten of the Father but they all share the nature of Godhood, just like Adam, Eve, and Seth all share the nature of mankind.

Questions:

What does it mean to be made in the Image of God?

What qualities did Enoch have that allowed him to be "translated" by God?

What need was there to translate Enoch rather than just wait for him to pass away?

Eber & Christchurch Earthquakes

My last post on the number 430 included this time period of 430 years:

Genesis 11:17 And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.

Per that post, because Eber’s age of 464 at death is tied to the closing of the door numerically in the Bible and his name means “one who has passed or crossed over”, I look at his death at 464 as the end of the age of the Church and the return of Christ. His birth is a type of the opening of the door and his death a type of the closing of the door.

Jesus is the door. We pass from death to life, we have crossed over, when we become His.

John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Before I go on I want to show the interesting numbers around Eber, Enoch and Isaac.

The numbers 144/144,000 are found in chapters 7, 14, and 21 of Revelation. This 144 number is a completion number. God created the world in 6 days and rested. 6 days is 144 hours:

Revelation 7:4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

Revelation 21:17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

Just as the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet and what they mean tie to the 22 chapters of Revelation I believe the 22 letters also tie to the 22 generations found in Genesis 5 and 11.

The 7th generation is Enoch.

The 14th generation is Eber.

The 21st generation is Isaac.

Enoch was translated at age 365. This would also seem to be a completion number, just like the number 144/144000, since God created the planet we live on to rotate around the sun in 365 days.

Eber was born 365 years before Isaac marries his bride Rebekah.

Isaac is also the object of verse 365.

Genesis 15:4 And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.

Just as chapters 7, 14, and 21 of Revelation share the 144/144,000 completion number, generations 7, 14, and 21 share the completion number 365.

I believe the two above 365 year time periods show the same concept.

Jared, meaning “to descend”, gives birth to Enoch, meaning “dedicated” or “to train up”. The Torah descended, Jesus descended, and the Holy Spirit descended, each to “train up” a people “dedicated” to God. Enoch, as a picture of the Bride “trained up” and “dedicated”, is taken when the Church/bride is complete.

The birth of Eber is the birth of the “door opening” just like the birth of Enoch is the birth of the dedicated. Isaac marrying Rebekah 365 years later is a picture of Christ marrying His completed church at the end of their journey.

Chapter 7 of Revelation begins with the 144,000 sealed by the Holy Spirit.

Revelation 7:4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

We then see in chapter 7 the completed church standing in Heaven.

Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

Chapter 14 of Revelation begins with Christ standing on Mt Zion with the 144,000 who have the Father’s name on their forehead, a picture of being sealed with the word of God by the Holy Spirit.

Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

We then see time is complete and the door is shut and Christ as the Son of Man is seen coming on a cloud and harvesting His crop/bride.

Revelation 14:14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

15) And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

16) And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

Chapter 21 of Revelation is about the Bride completed for Christ and one of the measurements of the Bride completed is 144.

Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 21:17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

You can also tie generations 7,14 and 21 together by the number 300.

Recall the Spirit of God has a gematria of 300.

Enoch walks with God 300 years after the birth of his son and then is taken.

Genesis 5:22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

Eber was 300 years old when Abram was called out of his land into the Promised land and given the promise of becoming a great nation. This can be likened to Enoch being translated. Abraham is considered the father of our faith. He is also called out in verse 300.

Genesis 12:1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

Isaac is the child of faith. He is the 21st generation born in the 21st chapter. The 21st Hebrew letter is shin and has a gematria of 300. The child of faith in born of the Spirit.

Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Further, Eber’s son Peleg and grandson Reu both die at age 239. Eber dies 239 years after Abram was born.

So anyone who studies numbers in the Bible should be able to see clearly that there is something special about Eber.

This is the verse about Eber and his 430 year time period:

Genesis 11:17 And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.

The gematria of the above verse is 3838. The next verse with a gematria of 3838 is about Pentecost and Feast of Tabernacles:

Exodus 34:22 And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.

My immediate thought was maybe one of these days is the closing of the door. I have seen so many things pointing to Pentecost it has shocked me. However whenever I think it may be Pentecost I immediately think of the Christchurch earthquakes and how they seem to be about Elul. Elul 1 begins the 40 days of repentance leading to Yom Kippur. It would seem to be a logical choice for the start of everything.

However when researching Eber I realized that there are connections from the Christchurch earthquakes to Eber and maybe while they point to Elul, it may be for a different reason. So I would like to show what I have learned.

First, why is the Christchurch earthquakes so important in my mind? It is because the way the Bible seems to present the way Christ will return for His Church and it is with an earthquake.

When God descended at Sinai, the mountain quaked greatly. You could say a “great earthquake”.

Exodus 19:18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

When the angel of the Lord descended and Jesus rose from the dead there was a great earthquake again:

Matthew 28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

We are told in the book of Revelation that there is a great earthquake again when the 2 witnesses/the church is resurrected and ascends to heaven:

Revelation 11:11-13 And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. 12) And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. 13) And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

The first Christchurch earthquake happened on Sept 4, 2010 at 4:35. On the Jewish calendar it was Elul 25. Strong’s H435 (matching the time it happened) = Elul and it is only used 1 time in the Bible.

Nehemiah 6:15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.

So the day the earthquake happened is the day the Bible verse speaks of. The earthquake occurred at 4:35 and this verse is the only use of Strong’s H435 = Elul. Just fascinating

In the NT we are the stones/walls of the temple.

1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Nehemiah 6:15 speaks of the walls/church complete. Christ comes back for His church/walls when they are complete and He comes with an earthquake, hence my interest in Christchurch earthquake.

The 435 number is also tied to return of Christ and the rapture since Jared the descender died 435 years after Enoch was taken.

There was a second Christchurch earthquake so it seems to point to Elul also.

In the Jewish mindset, Elul is an acronym for the first part of SOS 6:3 “I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine”

The gematria of this phrase is 185.

The second earthquake was on Feb 22, 2011. 185 people died in this quake, matching the gematria of the phrase tied to Elul.

So when I see these 2 earthquakes the month Elul comes up.

Something else that is very interesting about this all is that Elul 25 is considered the 1st day of creation in the Jewish mindset. Man was created on the sixth day, Tishri 1- theFfeast of Trumpets.

The Bible states that the names of the Bride have been written in the book of life since the foundation of the world.

Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

I see the foundation of the world as the first day of creation or Elul 25. You could say that the wall/church was finished on Elul 25, the foundation of the world since the Bible says the names of the Bride were written in the book of life from the foundation of the world.

Although the wall was historically finished on this day on a hidden spiritual level the verse is telling the reader, who knows that Elul 25 is day one of creation that the wall was finished at the foundation of the world. God knows who is His and His people have a sureness of salvation. Nothing can happen here on earth to take the elect away from their promise.

With the second earthquake the acronym Elul stands for “my beloved is mine and I am his”. This phrase is very popular within Jewish weddings. From what I have been reading it is very popular to have this verse on the ketubah or inscribed on wedding rings or just recited at the wedding.

So it may be that the Christchurch earthquakes are not about Elul but what the acronym Elul stands for.

Let me show you the connection to Eber. This is the verse tied to the first earthquake.

Nehemiah 6:15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.

The above verse has a gematria of 2808. Strong’s G2808 =”shut” As in shut the door, just as Eber is tied to the closing of the door.

Matthew 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

What is even more interesting about this parable is Jesus is using with the concept of marriage, just as “my beloved is mine and I am his” is tied to marriage.

Eber’s root is Strong’s H5674. It is used for the first time in verse 185. The phrase “my beloved is mine and I am his” has a gematria of 185.

Strong’s H1730 = ”beloved” It is spelled dalet-vav-dalet. Dalet is the 4th letter and vav the 6th letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

Dalet (4) vav (6) dalet (4) could be seen as 464. Eber died at age 464. The gematria of “beloved” is 14 and Eber is the 14th generation. 5677 ft = 1730 meters. Eber is Strong’s H5677. Beloved is Strong’s H1730.

In the NT Eber is Strong’s G1443. This verse about “beloved” has a gematria of 1443.

SOS 7:10 I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me.

There is this incredible numeric connection between Eber and Beloved and thus the meaning of the acronym ELUL. It may be that God is saying through the Christchurch earthquakes that the door is closed at His return with a great earthquake. He is coming for His Beloved who have been written in the book of life since the foundation of the world.

One other interesting note. The time that events happen always seem to be important-aka-the first Christchurch earthquake, 9/11, 3/11 etc. The second Christchurch earthquake happened at 12:51 pm. There was a historic clocktower damaged that I recall seeing repeatedly stuck at 12:51. That image has always stuck with me and I always thought that was important.

Eber and the closing of the door is the ending of a period of time.

12:51 pm concludes minute 771 and begins minute 772. I did a search of gematria at this site for 772.

You will see that “shavuout” has a matching gematria of 772 in this verse.

As I said prior the above verse has a matching gematria of 3838 to the verse of Eber dying at age 464 after 430 years.

1 Chronicles 1-12.

“From Commitment to Compassion”. Historical Records From Adam to Abraham.

To Noah’s Sons1 Adam, Seth, Enosh, 2 Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, 3 Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah.

Seth= the foundation

Enosh=Man a weak but sociable animal

Kenan= Networker, the composer

Mahalelel= Praise of God

Jared= the Descendant

Enoch=inaugurated, trained

Lamech= the strong man, who suffers humiliation

Noah= respite.

4 The sons of Noah:[a]

Shem, Ham and Japheth.

Shem= conscious knowledge of the entire creation

Ham=to protect or surround

Japheth= formless expansion, infinity

“From Adam to Noah, was a commitment to end violence. In the beginning man was weak but showed potential. God the networker, trained their descendants and shared with them the entire knowledge of creation in order to put an end to all shame, protect them and make mankind strong.”

Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshek and Tiras.

6 The sons of Gomer:

Ashkenaz, Riphath[c] and Togarmah.

Gomer=to complete, to come to an end

Magog=pearl of fire

Madai=measured by yah

Javan=the mud man

Tubal=world economy

Meshek=to draw or lift out

Tiras=moisturize

Ashkenaz=so the fire is scattered

Riphath= grain crushers

Togmarah=bone breaker

*Adam was said to have been made of red mud, or blood and water.

Not to eat flesh torn from a living animal.

To establish courts of justice.

Nimrod, “to rebel” who became a mighty warrior on earth.

the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, 12 Pathrusites, Kasluhites (from whom the Philistines came) and Caphtorites.

Ludites=primitive

Anamites=fountain of afflictions

Lehabites=flaming tip of a spear

Naphtunites=pitch

Pathrushites=naive

Kasluhites=to stumble

Caphtorites=protected, redeemed, crowned with a pomegranate

Adam to Noah.

5 This is the written account of Adam’s family line.

When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God. 2 He created them male and female and blessed them. And he named them “Mankind”[x] when they were created.

3 When Adam had lived 130 years*, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth "the appointed one, the foundation." 4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 5 Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.

6 When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father[y] of Enosh "weak but social". 7 After he became the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters. 8 Altogether, Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died.

9 When Enosh had lived 90 years, he became the father of Kenan. 10 After he became the father of Kenan “the composer”, Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters. 11 Altogether, Enosh lived a total of 905 years, and then he died.

12 When Kenan had lived 70 years, he became the father of Mahalalel “praise of God” 13 After he became the father of Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years and had other sons and daughters. 14 Altogether, Kenan lived a total of 910 years, and then he died.

15 When Mahalalel had lived 65 years, he became the father of Jared "the descendant". 16 After he became the father of Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years and had other sons and daughters. 17 Altogether, Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years, and then he died.

18 When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch. 19 After he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 20 Altogether, Jared lived a total of 962 years, and then he died.

21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah "when he is dead it will be sent, a man of the javelin”. 22 After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked faithfully with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 Altogether, Enoch lived a total of 365 years. 24 Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.

25 When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech. 26 After he became the father of Lamech “strong man”, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. 27 Altogether, Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died.

28 When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. 29 He named him Noah ‘to comfort, to rest” [z] and said, “He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the Lord has cursed.” 30 After Noah was born, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters. 31 Altogether, Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died.

32 After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem “conscious knowledge of the whole of creation”, Ham “hot, a protective wall” and Japheth “formless expansion.”

= “God created mankind in His Likeness. He made them complementary, one on the left, on the right, one for yesterday, one for today, one for east and west, north and south. One for the old, one for the new.

Through brilliance, a foundation was born. It was called mankind. It was an early mankind, weak, but with tremendous potential. By composing new ideas and efforts, man was able to grow and please God.

There was descent into darkness but discipline caused strength to return. The was a great respite, conscious knowledge of the creation protected the world and there was expansion of human ingenuity in every direction.”

So here right at the beginning of the Torah is the cause for all that ails humanity=vanity, the urge to flaunt oneself far beyond one’s actual merits, to make claims and behave as if one is smarter even than God and endowed with His privileges.

What does God say about this? Guess again.

*As far as the sacred numerology in the Torah goes I suspect the number of years and numbers of persons in a generation are similar codes to phone numbers for Days, Decrees, Skills, Tribes, Clans, anything in a list.

Lamech, for example, the Strong Man lived for 777 years. A year is a "recurring Jewish phenomenon that completes a simple object lesson." Each one is a step towards the top of the mountain where awaits an Audience with God.

The Torah compresses these object lesson years into tantras. This one is called Lamech, a strong man who is humiliation proof. A Lamech has evolved past the 7 Days, follows the 7 Laws of Noah, and is finally resting on the Shabbat after he has eradicated the Seven Extermination Nations, the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.

To complete the Object Lesson in this Parsha, achieve the Seven Days and cross over the Kruvim through the Sacrament of Shabbat, we must analyze the tension between the Seven Exterminators vs. the Seven Laws of Noah:

Hittites: Fearsome, causes a lack of willpower.

Girgashites: To quarrel.

Amorites: Gossipers.

Canaanites: To unite, to bundle.

Perizzites: To attack, to pierce the border with a spear. Spears are connected to the mind by the arm, so to disarm a man and likewise end the threat of his spear is the object of combat with a big dick like a Perizzite.

Hivites: Tent villager, unimposing, weak, untrained, submissive.

Jebusites: Tramplers. Bullboys, in other words.

The Seven Laws of Noah are:

Concerning adjudication (dinim), generally thought of as the Mishpatim.

Concerning idolatry (avodah zarah) “Avodah Zarah” literally means “strange worship,” the worship of deities other than the God of Israel. The term has also been translated accurately (albeit nonliterally) as “forbidden worship” and “idolatry.” Avodah Zarah tractates are found in the Mishnah.

Concerning blasphemy (qilelat ha-Shem) "Do not profane the name of God or the Jewish Identity."

Concerning sexual immorality (gilui arayot) "What emerges is a moral discipline that is strict, yet highly sensitive to the human condition; one that affirms the joyfulness of the sexual experience, but insists that it express itself in controlled circumstances; and one that never deprecates marriage and at every opportunity deplores monastic asceticism."

Concerning blood-shed (shefikhut damim) "to refrain from retribution and revenge."

Concerning robbery (gezel) "to not avoid withholding monies owed."

Concerning a limb torn from a living animal (ever min ha-hay): Deuteronomy 12:23 states "and thou shalt not eat the life with the flesh."

= the Evil Personal Jesus.

By combining one's knowledge and practices of the Seven Laws of Noah, interrupting the cultural advances of the Seven Extermination Nations is to complete the Torah Tantra of Lamech, "The Humiliation-Proof Man" AKA The Seven Days' Journey from Adam to Noah.
